Colin McRae 2. Still play it on PS2 and it’s still better than any racing game I’ve played on PS5. Better handling, much more sensitivity and even after tens of thousands of races I’m still pushing the limit on times. What a game. Thank you for the vid!

Thanks for overview of rally games. I got hooked on Colin McRae Rally (1998) before attending. an RAC Rally. Brilliant day out. Years ago, in WRC Greece Rally, leaders on board actually allowed other drivers to pass them deliberately ending 3rd not 1st so competitors would be forced to start first the next day, clear the gravel tracks and ruin their tyres before anyone else. 8:08 the fact that the out-piste recovery system didn't work combined with the fact that I didn't have a memory card to save my game progress made it one of the most difficult roguelike I've ever played
My first video game ever was Colin MCrae Rally. That was back in the late 90s. I remember kids talking about the playstation back then so i saved money and bought the PS1 and my first game was Colin Mcrae Rally. I enjoyed the game soo much back then at its time. Back then gaming was so much fun because the PS1 was introducing 3d gaming graphics with so much detail for the first time. I remember visiting an asian friend's home and I saw Tekken 3 for the first time and I really loved it. Another game I fell in love with was a game called Techu Stealth Assasins. Guys you need to understand that the graphics for these games were the best for their time and their gameplays which mattered more to me were mind blowing. I also enjoyed the first Metal Gear Solid, Apocalypse with Bruce Willis, Toca 2 and Final Fantasy. Eventually i left PSX and Console games and went on to Play PC games and thats how I ended up becoming a PC gamer. The reason why I fell in love with PC games was because I became interested in Military Multiplayer shooters. My first multiplayer shooter was Novalogic's Delta force 2. I enjoyed the multiplayer game like crazy. Although the graphics of this game is currently outdated but the gameplay is the best gameplay of all the games i have ever played up till today. All the other modern games like Battlefield and Call of Duty were born out of the classic Delta Forces series. I spent like 4 hours every day playing Delta Force Multiplayers and it was so much fun. It was from this moment that I realized that PC multiplayer shooters were my favorite genre in gaming. As years progressed by I moved from DF2 to Return to Caste Wolfenstein multiplayer. That was also fun. I played wolfenstein until the Release of Battlefield 2. Battlefield 2 was total perfection. I enjoyed the air, land and sea based gaming and played the game for over 7 years. I used to hand out ia a server called Cobra Gaming with the Gulf of Oman Maps which I enjoyed immensely. I didnt like the new Battlefield games very much. I Played Bf2, Bf3, 2142 BF, Bad Company 2 and BF4 but BF2 remained my favorite. The other games like Bf1, BFV and BF2042 were terrible. In My history of gaming, the games I enjoyed the most was Delta Force 2 because of the gameplay (not the graphics which are completely outdated today) and Delta force 2. Great memories. I hope game developers continue to keep games as simple as they were like the good ol' days of gaming.
I went Sega Rally first on the Saturn, then Top Gear Rally on N64, V-Rally 99 N64, V-Rally 2 DC, Colin McCrae 4 XB, Rallisport Challenge 2 XB, TOCA 3 XB, Colin McCrae 5 XB, Colin McCrae Dirt 360, GT5 PS3, Sega Rally 2006 360, Dirt Rally PC, Dirt 2 PC, Dirt 3 PC, Forza Horizon 4 PC, Dirt 4 PC, V-Rally 4 PC, Forza Horizon 5 PC.
Original Sega Rally was the best untill the sequel. And then, Collin Mc Rae 2 just releases 3 year after that. Graphically Sega Rally 2 holds up till GT3 or WRC. What a legendary series was Sega Rally :)
Until now a few games managed physics. Most of the had an unreal feeling of flying . Like there are two layers, a static map and a moving object. The first Colin McRae had extraordinary physics, feeling the car on the road and not sliding in the air
Being alive and old enough to play these games through the 90s and 00s and witnessing the jumps in graphical fidelity with each new generation was such a privilege.
International Rally Championship was the game I had. Absolutely loved it. I still remember the cars in each class and how much fun I Indonesia was with the water puddles. Oh yeah and not forgetting the best soundtrack ever. That soundtrack still rocks today.

Rally games have positive effect on the Physx of older systems, because the cars randomly fly during the gameplay. When Physx is turned on, other games will also provide physx experience . For example, in Doom the enemies fall down on stairs when shot dead. If you seriously test trying to turn on hardware physx of old systems, you need flight simulator, flying at low level to see the plane’s shadow at highest speed.
I'm not that kinda rallyguy. When Colling McRay (PS2) came out, I bought it, because the graphics looks so nice, very realistic, many details. Great experience.

Very complete list, the important ones for me: Colin McRae Rally 2.0 on PC with my first force feedback wheel in 2000 - my first time building a high performance PC so I could play this! Richard Burns Rally - still the benchmark for simulating stage rally, Dirt 2 was first really fun online arcade rally racer, Dirt Rally was a surprise sim with just 3 events at launch and grew into one of the best ever, and then WRC8 was a total surprise - after decades of lame arcade racers the WRC license was finally put to good use and has been great ever since with 9/10/Generations. And sometime this year we get WRC23 as Codemasters has the WRC license now, let’s hope they go full sim…
The first rally game I remember from this video is Gran Turismo 1. The memory is very weak. It was a neighbor that had this game. I've never been a big fan of these games.
