Pico 4 is higher clocked then the Quest2 ( CPU and GPU) thats the reason it eats up the battery even so its bigger. Sadly also no one talks about the active cooling inside the gasket that keeps the area cool and dry.

Do a comparison of PC VR performance. I don't care about their proprietary stores or apps or mobile game graphics. I want to know how they perform on PC. I get way better frame rates on the Quest 2 than on the HP Reverb G2. I'd like to know how the Pico 4 compares.
same, only really interested in getting a vr headset for racing sims and stuff like that
but i suppose i shouldn't even be looking at these "budget" sets when i really just want a glorified monitor with position tracking
@@Yeedman I think the PICO 4 could be an amazing simulator headset, as long as it's not handicapped by crappy software. Nothing beats pancake lenses.

Thanks for the review. Good job and fun to watch. I have both headsets. The Quest for my fitness needs and the Pico4 for my PCVR gaming. I recently upgraded my old system with a GTX1080 to an i5 12th gen with a RTX3080 and that is a major upgrade. By far not a 4090, but that's way out of my budget. However: there is this Godlike mode in the Pico4 that is mainly for the 4090. I used it however with my 3080 and it worked fine. You do get better graphics. Only in No Man's Sky I experienced some stuttering, so setting the graphics a little lower in Virtual Desktop resolves that issue and I do get a much better experience than with my old system.
About Beatsaber... yes you can't have it natively on the Pico4, but if you have a Quest and already bought Beatsaber and a lot of song-packages, I recommend to buy it in the Rift store if you have a good enough PC. That version is the best of the three: easy adding custom made songs, without having to mod or sideload another version of Beatsaber and you still can play all the purchased songs from the Quest. Don't confuse it with the Steam Version. The Rift version is much better, less latency and like I said, only that version loads the songs you bought on the Quest.

Great comparison, I'l stick with My quest 2 though I have gathered quite a few mods and upgrades for my quest,
A BoboVR headstrap with battery banks & charging dock, VR Cover vented facial interface, silicon lens protectors and Quest pro controllers. All I need now is the Airbridge dongle and decent hand straps for the pro controllers. I might get Sony's mocobo for FBT if it's anygood. I dread to think how much I've spent on upgrading my headset but it's well worth it

I own both devices and in my opinion is if you have a PC and can run PC VR games get the pico 4 but if not get the quest 2

I own the Pico 4 (newly purchased) and the Oculus Rift S.
So Rift S for PCVR and Pico for stand alone use.
I have tried out the Quest 2 but it is really front heavy and the fit is uncomfortable for me.
Too bad about the limited game library on Pico 4, but I am hopeful that more games and dedicated apps will come onboard.
I own a quest 1 but don't want to pay all out for quest 2 as I don't use it enough..
I use the wander app and UA-cam VR a lot when I'm on the quest so I won't be going for the pico as neither are on it..luckily I escaped that..I guess I will just wait it out and see
You can use a USB type C connector to use your headphones not just Bluetooth! I also don't have the Issue's with my PICO 4 that you do, maybe it's just down to the individual and I couldn't care less who's watching me I haven't got time to worry about conspiracy Issue's 👍
Can you not Link the pico 4 to a pc with a cable? What headset should I get as my first if I’m mostly going to play on the pc? Will the battery get charged as I play on the pc since it’s connected? I have so many questions 😅

Good comparison but should have mentioned how difficult it is to get the Pico 4 if you're in the US. On reddit I found one person from Boston who purchased it from the Amazon UK website and they were told that they would have to pay over $300 to return it so now he's stuck trying to sell it.

Nice video m8. I was on the shelf about using the Pico for my pc only driver with virtual desktop as I have a huge quest library. I play a lot of shooters so the idea of the controllers having less occlusion was an attractive idea. In the end I invest in the pro controllers instead and I have to say they are awesome.
That was my thought before as well, because my left controller has some issues long before I bought the Pico4 and it would have cost a little less. But now I have both headsets and it is a nice way to of usage. The old Quest controllers don't have that issue with fitness like Beatsaber or FitRX, but with gaming like HLA and others where I have to use the left joystick for moving around. I like the new controllers too... maybe there is an option when the Quest 3 comes to the market to choose between those and the "native" controllers...
Pancake lenses > fresnel. It's a no brainer.
My Pico 4 should arrive today...I really hope it's gonna be a good VR experience for a change..since I had to pay about twice+ the price of those who buy it form Europe..cheap it was not so it better be worth it, I am coming from Quest 1 so it should be a lot better in general but I have my doubts because I already got disappointed by Quest 2 which I had to sell after just about one month of use.
Why did you sell the quest 2 I'm looking to get into vr and was just wondering what all the pros and cons are for this particular headset

Hi, I'm new to VR and can't decide whether to get the pico 4 or quest 2. Although I like playing some games, I want to also use VR more for lifestyle, non-gaming apps e.g meditation/relaxation apps, travel apps. Is one better than the other for this? I know pico has less apps, but does it have more non-gaming apps than the quest? Most reviews only ever mention gaming apps.
.....or conversely,should I wait a few months more qnd get the quest 3 with alleged pancake lenses? Will this be much more expensive than the quest 2, anyone know?

Excellent review! You answered all my questions. Sticking with the Quest 2 for now. We have two headsets, and having friends over to play 2-player beat saber is so much fun, both for the players and the observers. Looks like a choreographed dance party in the living room. :) Can't do that with Pico.
The Pico is not available in the US (last I knew please correct me if I'm wrong)
If they want to ban TikTok, surely they will want to ban the Pico too, as it's owned by the same company? I'll stick with the Quest 2, and see what the Quest 3 is like.
I've had the Quest and Quest 2 almost from launch on both headsets so my VR library is quite big, starting out from fresh again is not something I'd like to do so will probably wait and see how the Quest 3 pans out. Also I've now got arms in the home screen on Quest 2, does Pico do that :)
I had the Quest for a good while, so my library of purchased games has stacked up in that time. Was debating on getting either the Quest 2 or the Pico 4 tomorrow but ultimately have decided to get the Quest 2 as just like you, the upgrades and slight difference don’t warrant starting all over again and wasting money on games I already own. Plus many games I play aren’t on the Pico store
I really do not get why you bought games on the headsets stores?, just use STEAM and there wont be a problem.

@@TENGILL Do you not realise it’s a standalone device? Majority people that use the Quest don’t play PC VR….
@@TENGILL Mostly because it’s handier to have stand-alone and sometimes it the only way to get them. I also have SteamVR games and Rift PC games that weren’t available standalone for the Quest.
How much are the games for Pico? Are they same price as the Quest? The Pico store does not show the software prices.

I'm a senior, don't play games, but I definitely want to run something like Roku, so I can watch Netflix, Prime and others, also UA-cam in a browser if no app available. And Travel the globe with google earth or equivalent. I have used a Quest, but can't get the IPD distance quite right..and the front weight uncomfortable... Is Pico Neo 3, an option or Pico 4, or wait for Quest 3..on small pension so Price is important... thanks everyone
I got the quest 2 1 week ago. It can run prime, Netflix, HBO UA-cam. And can play videos though browser if there is no app. Would definitely look into the quest 2.
For your IPD take the Pico 4, Quest 2 three set up with a fix single LCD display, is a pure joke !
If you want to wait for Quest 3, don't expect a better product than the Pico 5, which will arrive at the same time
Catch is the bigger the FOV, the less pixels per degree.
my big no on pico 4 is that (almost) all standalone game look like in low rez compared to quest 2 version, also I have a lot of iner reflexion (instead of godray but that not better...)
if the game looks low res its because its a port of the Quest 2 game.....which is lower res. Only games made specifically and upgraded for the Pico will look much much sharper. I know because Ive tried 100s of games

Absolutely love the Pico 4's technological advancements but gonna have to go with the Quest 2 and gifting my Quest 1 to a friend, always nice to have more friends in game. Plus my library is large, though I do PCVR as well, an upgrade from Quest 1 - 2 is pretty significant.

Talking about Quest 2 from software development perspective it's worth mentioning that meta has one great team developers that stands behind the quest,so from that point they are light years ahead from any new vr device,this is not just random soda can comparison ))
At the beginning it wasn't the case, so many bugs, PCVR mode was a shit...and still very boguey...
The majority of people that buy a Pico 4 plan to use it for mostly pcvr, so the stores don't even matter.
I think game amount is an irrelevant point. Just treat it like a new console. You'd buy the correct console for you and the games will just come later
sorry bro, i get both, pico 4 lenses are not amazing, too much default, lot of people complain about it on reddit or facebook group. I had the chance to use the quest pro too, and the difference is huuuuuge, they are amazing. no sorry there is problem with the quality of pancake lenses
