In my experiences, I feel like the hot-water bath is the better overall tactic to unstiffen the joints on my NECA figs. The trick is let the boiling water set in a safe dish for a minute to cool so you're not dropping your toy in scalding hot water. Another tip is to put your figure in a sandwich baggie, allows for less drying-off toy. Submerge underwater with tongs for 30 seconds to a 50 seconds, depending on stiffness. 35 seconds seems to be the magic number for me. Take out of baggie and bend the joints to desired position. May require another hot-water bath if the joints stiffen before you get into position. It takes 15-20 minutes for the plastic to stop being really malleable. Check it for yourself, I feel like it's safer than the hairdryer/heat-gun.

Heating is also great for fixing warped accessories. Plastic has a “memory” to it, so applying heat with a blow dryer or water will help it to return to its original form.

The bicep joint on my GOW 3 Kratos turns itself to the front, if rotate it it moves itself to the front, would this work? I don't wanna damage the Golden Fleece with the heat

Thanks for the video! I'm new to the Neca TMNT rabbit hole and I'm shocked @ how tight the Toon Slash articulation is on my copy. His elbow and shoulders just don't want to move and I know it'll break with force. By any chance have you tried or heard of Shock oil? That's what I usually use for my Transformers and works like a charm but dunno if it's a good idea or not on these Neca Turtles?
Also just wondering with the Heating method, but do you have to do everytime if you wanna pose your figure? Thx in advance 👍

I know a bunch of my friends have great success with shock oil. Definitely can recommend.
Heating method is not permanent for me. If I don't keep moving the joint that I heated, then I need to heat it again, but that's maybe 10 percent of the joints I've had to heat.

Hot water seems to work well too. Fill a small tub with hot (not boiling water), sit the figure in the water for 30 secs to 1 min. Try to bend the limbs. Just did it to Muckman, Groundchuck, and a couple others.

Thing with that is that once the water dries and the plastic cools again, the joint becomes stiff again. Tried it on so many of my figures, icluding a neca pennywise, and it worked until it dried.

@@legolasstudios i wonder, if you did the hot water bath, let it dry then do the floor cleaner treatment, i wonder how that would work. Combining different techniques.

Yeah this is cool and all, but we shouldnt have to do this. We have multiple ways of breaking or damaging the stuff we pay good money for.

    Can this ruin the figure?

In my opinion, the hair dryer method is less of a risk than the warm bath method. If you live in a humid environment or ever have your figures exposed to outside air, water droplets left behind can cause mold and other problems. The only risk with the hair dryer is you could overdo it and cause a breakage.
