That would be cool. But I feel if they were to get the full Yakuza experience, they'd have to play more than just the main story missions. I could easily see this becoming 20+ part playthrough. Definitely would be more of a time investment than the other games they've played.
Yakuza is a hard series to explain just because each game has such a deep story and they all build on each other almost like almost like a soap opera. Most of the characters are well-written and fleshed out, it’s honestly something you just have to play to understand. 0 is a great game to start with or the best one to play if you do just one game but I highly recommend the entire series for people that want something long-term to play.
It's also really hard to explain when you can look up a clip of adult men in diapers in their baby fetish. Like yo dawg. That ain't a FRACTION of what you tried explaining.
I bought the collection, along with 6 and 0 a couple of years ago, and I've been ignoring them for months. I'm finally going to start with 0, then take a break with some other game, then do 1, and so forth. I think If I am going to finally play 0-6, I'm really going to need to take Yakuza breaks. I'm simply going to get through the stories and spend little time with the other sides activities then once I complete 0-6, I'm going to pick 3 to save on my PS4 as I delete the others to re-download other games like Resident evil, and etc. Then focus on really taking my time in those 3 that I end up liking the most. Maxxor's description of the game is indeed very accurate. He may exaggerate for other games but this one is very true. You guys definitely need to play or watch gameplay/cutscenes if available.
Okay to be fair about the Cabaret side story, it’s on Maxor for doing it all in one sitting. It’s better if you do a bit of it each chapter between the main story. Same goes for the Real Estate side story.
Real Estate has you buy up buildings (assuming you've done a fair few of the quests to get the advisors so you have them on hand) then wander around town beating up gang members while you wait for the collection to time out, then repeat until done. Caberet is quite a bit more difficult.
@@joshuaanderson1712 I did real estate all in one go as soon as I unlocked it. I was just having so much fun. Cabaret has you more actively involved so it seems more fun but the money you get from it is just not worth the effort imo.
Cabaret is one of the things I like about Y0 the most. Ironic that Mad Dog sucks so I played it (and still do) for fun, not for the fighting style. Real Estate sucked.
Yakuza is a series where most of the main plot is super serious. Sex trafficing, murder and blackmail are usually playing some part in the main plot. While all the side stuff and gameplay is so silly. But somehow they mesh well together. The only other series I can think pulls even close to the same mix is Gintama.
You guys should absolutely play this game it is fantastic. From the main story to the side quest and even the mini games are so much fun and the writing in the main story is some of the best crime drama writing I've seen in years.
without hitting any real plot points, the best way to describe the lore for Yakuza is you think of a crime-themed Japanese drama series, with whole episodes where it shifts to pure comedy
One minute you feel like you're in the middle of Godfather crime drama... And then suddenly it is Simpsons Episode and Kiryu just won chicken in a bowling and comes up with idea of making it his new estate manager.
Actually the final push for money strat is to let either Mr Shakedown rob you, let him grift some other folks, and then beat him up and get your money everyone else's money back, and the Secret styles are perfect for this, Goro is almost impossible to hit and Kiryu simply rubs a nearby building on Mr. Shakedown's face, gently and respectfully. Also not kidding about the Life thing; it's literally the series subtitle.
By the way, you can also start with Yakuza: Like A Dragon, it's the 7th entry in the series but it serves a whole new entry point because it's about a completely NEW protagonist with a NEW cast of characters and story.
It's awesome to see this video be finally reacted to because this is easily my favorite of Maxor's videos. I agree with other people saying you two should play the game when you get a chance because it truly is a outstanding game.
Yakuza series is basically a playabe Japanese crime drama and Shen Mue's spiritual successor, but focusing more in action and is full of mini games and mini stories to enrich the world and give you some break of the the heavy drama full of cutscenes. Kamurocho is basically it's own character. It's a game that let's you play at your own pace, and that's always nice. It's also a nice Japan virtual tourism, a lot of the stores and restaurants are real, same with drinks, and some games even has the bartender talking a bit about the history of each drink.
Yakuza 0 is a masterpiece, so insanely good, most of the series as well. So far I've played only 0 but it's one of the very best events in my life, it gave me so much happiness for such a long time...
Yakuza 0 is by far the best one overall story and gameplay wise. Best place to start and one of the best semi open world games where the world is small but dense instead of large and empty. The main story is very serious and edgy. The side quests are all completely bonkers and a great break from the drama in the story. 100/10 game

That's a side effect of playing the mode sub optimally. No, the cabaret mode..REALLY...isn't that hard. It throws a lot of information at you up front and expects you to figure some of the rest out, which trust me, is super mangeable. NO, there's no hardcore porn in Yakuza 0. There's an adult video store where you can go and watch short videos of models, and it's very much played for laughs. The blurs were added as a joke to trick you into thinking there's actual nudity. Yes, there's a sexy cat fighting ring mini game. No, it's not something that you risk de-monetization by playing. Again, max0r added the blurs as a joke. Yes, the not canonically killing anyone bit is true. Which makes the joke SO much more funny No, you don't beat up the homeless Yes, the phone minigame is absolutely absurd. It's part of the charm. Yakuza is a series with a lot of content. Up until the seventh main entry, it was a beat ‘em up series. With Yakuza: Like A Dragon, they changed it to turn based jrpg cause the new protagonist is that much of a man child For that, there’s two videos that show off how different things are. recommending something to watch about Yakuza is hard.
