1:29 a little fun fact: Recently, a cosplayer doing this outfit for Link showed how difficult it is to actually put the sword back, due to its actual length, and Smash director Masahiro Sakurai explained that, during that animation, Link actually pulls the sheath down to make it possible, that's a detail they added to make it as realistic as possible
@gamemastertom except in that same interview he mentioned how even pulling the scabbard down isn't enough, and the animation clearly shows the sword clipping into the scabbard whenever he sheathes it
Bethany’s observation about Ridley’s parallels to Alien are actually spot on. He was named as a deliberate homage to Ridley Scott, since the Metroid series took heavy inspiration from the Alien films.
Joker's victory poses are a direct reference to the Persona 5 victory screen. He even has a special pose if you win using Final Smash, referencing when in Persona 5 you finish your opponents off with an All-Out Attack.
31:45 It’s not lazy, as the Hero of the Dragon Quest games don’t have canon names. Their player has to name them, so their name could go anywhere from “Olgar” to “CupSauce99” to “Jim”
To clear up some confusion at the end, Sans the Skeleton (yes, that is his full name) is from a game called Undertale. And Cuphead is from a game called Cuphead! Edit: I just remembered the perfect suggestion for the next Fight Night Friday! Combat Gods 1 & 2 by Jhanzou! Please consider watching it because it is a GEM of a fighting animation!
Marth, Lucina, Roy, Chrom, Ike, Robin, Corrin, and Byleth are from "Fire Emblem". Fire Emblem is a series of tactical RPGs created by Nintendo with the first games never releasing outside of Japan up until "Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade" or simply known as "Fire Emblem" for the Gameboy Advance (they did launch a cartoon beforehand based off the first game but was received poorly because no one knew what the series was at the time) Marth and Roy made their first appearances in Smash Bros for the Gamecube before Fire Emblem released for the west. Marth appeared in the first Fire Emblem game for the original NES while Smash Bros Melee was Roy's debut game before the game where he was the protagonist released The sign with the number "765" for Pac-Man is actually a reference to the arcade game "Pac-Land". Which is not like the maze games but rather a side scroller The pixel cowboys with Duck Hunt are from a game that also required the Zapper much like the Duck Hunt game. Wild Gunman The black and white Sora is from the Timeless River stage in the second Kingdom Hearts game. Joker's victory themes are from the different Persona games Blue is from Persona 3, Yellow is from P4, and Red is from his game, Persona 5. Also fun yet sad fact, Joker made his appearance in Smash Bros before any of the mainline Persona games were released for the Switch (they were always Playstation Exclusive). He was used to promote Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth for the Nintendo 3DS, which would be the last game released for the console Fun fact: Joker and the announcer from Smash share the same VA. Xander Mobus
2:42 Kirby's victory poses are based on his games when he would usually dance at the end of clearing stages and bosses. 34:22 And Min Min is from a fighting game called ARMS that was one of the first games released on the Switch in 2017 where the characters have springy arms and other parts and fight in a boxing-esque format, but Min Min's Smash trailer revealed that they can have human forms with regular arms that they transform from.
To add a bit about Min Min and ARMS: In the ARMS world, people can be affected by something called the "ARMS gene", think of it as becoming a mutant in Marvel. Usually, the cannot control the coiling and uncoiling of the ARMS, but it was discovered that it was through the irises, so the masks were developed as a way for people to control it (and why all ARMS fighters wear them). The gene usually manifest in teenagers or young adults, but in-game artwork says thet a 80-year old man got ARMS, and the fighter Kid Cobra apparently had ARMS since birth. The smash trailer plays with the lore a bit, since Min Min is seen WITHOUT her mask and regular arms, which is not the case, her ARMS are always made of noodles, and the mask controls the coiling.
Each character has their logo. This usually refers to their Series. Legend of Zelda Characters get the Triforce. Fire Emblem Characters get the Falchion. Mario gets a Super Mushroom. And Yoshi gets and Egg... for some reason.
Since Yoshi has his own series of games (Yoshi's Island), he's considered separate from the other Mario characters like Wario (WarioWare/Wario Land) and DK (Donkey Kong Country) are
The 4 Heroes are from Dragon Quest, particularly 11, 3, 4, and 8. Since you can name them whatever you want, they went with just "Hero" in Smash. Same thing with "Pokemon Trainer."
I knew going in they’d just be referred to as “Hero” rather than get individual titles, but I cannot overstate the disappointment in my heart when the announcer did NOT yell “The Guv Wins!”
27:30-27:36 As you noticed, Ridley's design is based on a Xenomorph, from the Alien franchise. And his name is actually a tribute to Ridley Scott; who directed the original film.
A lot of these poses are an homage to what they do in their own games. And once again, I’m going to suggest “Hades Misguidance” as a reaction series. You get to know more about the characters that the official games would never say about them. Because again, “Hades Misguidance” is a fan-made parody of “Palutena’s Guidance” You already got the attention of the creators of the fan-made one, and they appreciated it. So you’re safe in watching it.
okay, to explain Yoshi's third animation. In street fighter, when Akuma does Shun Goku Satsu he strikes that pose at the end. It's an attack that we barely know what happens during it, it's always shrouded in darkness and the only thing you see is the end pose. So I think the joke is, Yoshi beats you so hard in the fight that he can do the end pose.
Yeah, Pichu is an unevolved Pikachu. Marth is Fire Emblem and an ancestor to Chrom and Lucina, who are father and daughter. Depending on how you play, Robin can become Lucina’s husband or mother, have fun with that. It’s in release order, after Sora you just get specialised Mii Fighters and Bowser Jrs. There’s a part of my brain that will never forget Luigi, Ness, Jigglypuff and Captain Falcon were the unlockable characters in the first game. Sans is from Undertale and beyond that I’m only willing to say PLAY UNDERTALE. Also, Ken’s lucky his video game name sake is a tough guy and a good family man. I have to chose between Fox’s nemesis’s whiny nephew or the guy that caused all the misery in Bioshock. Damn, it’s the edited Steve win screen.
So, all the characters who had the sword as their opening icon are from the Fire Emblem series of tactical role-playing games (RPGs). One of the biggest complaints in the Smash community is that there are too many Fire Emblem characters since most of them are swordfighters with similar movesets, never really bothered me that much. Fun fact: Lucina (Marth's echo fighter, the one right after him) is voiced in English by Laura Bailey, who plays Vex'ahlia in Legend of Vox Machina (she's part of the Critical Role main cast and is married to Travis Willingham, who plays Grog) and Chrom (Roy's echo fighter, the one after him) is voiced by Matt Mercer, Critical Role's DM and creator of the world of Exandria where Legend of Vox Machina takes place (he also voiced Sylas Briarwood and Umbrasyl along with many minor characters in the show). Also, in case nobody's mentioned it, Sheik is from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the Nintendo 64. I don't want to spoil anything if you've never played it, but let's just say he's very close to Princess Zelda 😏
Man it’s painful to see them not know anything about it because it reminds us that despite the games growing exponentially in popularity over the years? We’re still niche by comparison. Darn lol
@@ramenbomberdeluxe4958 Yeah, it sucks that the series doesn't get the love it deserves. But, the good news is the more we talk about it, the better the chance people will find it and give it a try. Even if they don't end up sticking with it, that's one more person who can recommend it to people 😀
The name Hero comes from DQ making the name customizable, so they don't need a set name, but in the fandom the hero's name is set to be the number they come from.
The Joker wins are from the actual Persona 5 game, whenever you win a battle you get the running one, in mementos (a dungeon like area) you get the van one, and the splash art one is when you finish a battle with Joker's all out attack. The black and white Sora is from Kingdom Heart 2 in a world called Timeless River which takes place during the old cartoons like Steamboat Willy.
It's not lazy naming for Hero. The character is called Hero because the Dragon Quest main characters don't have a determined name in the installments. You call them whatever name you want but what is established is that they're the Hero.
@@smward87 My Dude, Solo is literally used in a few games, Such as Tact and more importantly: Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince. It's a canon name. Eight and Eleven are also named in other things, with them both being named by Sakurai during the overview of the hero's smash trailer, but Eight's name was also listed as such in a japanese trailer for the mobile port of DQ8. Eleven's the only one of these 4 to not seem to be a canon name (yet) only ever being directly named by Sakurai.
Snake actually used to have a box victory pose back in Smash Bros Brawl. His third pose you saw here replaced it, because he says “Not even close” in both.
Pichu is the first form of Pikachu, introduced in Pokémon Gold and Silver, it goes Pichu to Pikachu to Raichu. Sheik is the disguise Princess Zelda takes in Ocarina of Time.
About Lucas’ “sword” animation. That is actually one of the Seven Needles. In the game he’s from (Mother 3), he pulls these out of the ground to awaken the Dark Dragon at the end who is basically the Shenron of the game. Only those who can use an ability called PK Love (which is Lucas’ up Smash in game) can pull these needles. The only other person who can pull them is his brother Claus. But they are very integral to the story of Mother 3 !
Wario doesnt throw up a 3, he throws up a W, both for his name and the fact he won Also the mii fighters are highly customizale, having a lot of different outfits and moves to choose from. After all, Mii's were meant to be you
unfortunately adding any Disney character that isn't originally from Kingdom Hearts (examples being Mickey, Donald, Goofy, and any other disney character with their already existing movie) wasn't allowed in. BUT they did get to keep the Mickey Emblem on the Keyblade which is pretty neat but also probably cost a lot of money lol. And Sheik is from Legend of Zelda. All the characters like Marth, Chrom, Roy, Lucina, Ike, etc are from a nintendo franchise known as Fire Emblem. it's a pretty good series but there are indeed a lot of FE reps, which is more than people really ask for lol.
@@angelmoreno3576 Because Sora and Kingdom Hearts as a whole, are Disney products. While it started as a collab, Disney is now almost entirely in control of the franchise. This is why no Final Fantasy characters appeared at all in KH3. Disney wanted to emphasis their own stuff instead.
The Hero characters are only named that because they are, well, the heroes of the Dragon Quest series. They have no official name as the player chooses what their names are
7:20 It's been almost 7 years since Ultimate came out, how did I not notice Zelda making that sassy face while summoning the Phantom in her victory animation? Granted I don't main Zelda, but still... Pichu is the pre-evolved form of Pikachu, and was introduced in Pokemon Gold & Silver. It is what is known as a "baby" Pokemon. Young Link is from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, and he's (I assume) 10 - 12 years old. The reason he's called "Young" Link is during the events of Ocarina of Time, he's sent 7 years into the future and his body ages appropriately, becoming a young adult. Interestingly, while Young Link here is based on the Ocarina of Time version design-wise (using the wooden Kokiri Shield), he uses abilities that he couldn't use as a child in said game (Fire Arrows and Hookshot), but could later in Majora's Mask. That "blue flame" from Lucario is called Aura, which is basically its life force. Lucario can channel Aura into its attacks and can sense the Aura of those around it. In Smash, as Lucario accumulates damage, its own Aura and attacks become stronger. The puzzle piece Banjo & Kazooie pick up is called a Jiggy, they're the main collectable of their games. Basically, Jiggies are to Banjo what Power Stars are to Mario.
Gotta love how they gave us the gender bent alts for some of the characters but not the older version of Ike, the gender bent pokemon trainer' victory poses
The difference between Joker’s victory poses is that each one references a Persona game the first is Persona 5, the second one is a reference to Persona 3, and the third one is a reference to Persona 4.
Loved the reaction! I really like when people do react to stuff like this in general, gets to show the real hard work put into this game. :] Fun fact: some characters have unique lines if they win against a certain opponent, like Wolf for Fox or Palutena for Pit.
To explain Sora's black and white skin, he, Donald Duck and Goofy travelled to a world where Disney started off as black and white cartoons from the early 1920s and 1930s, so many of the classic Disney characters were in their original designs before they had their redesigns later on.
29:36 they’re saying Mii Brawler, then Mii Sword-Fighter, then Mii Gunner When the Nintendo Wii first released one of the biggest appeal was the ability to create your own avatar in your likeness called a Mii (Me). Come Smash for the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS (upgraded consoles of the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS/DSi respectively), the main gimmick of that game was bigger movesets for each Fighter, than you can customize and mix and match. Smash 4 allowed you to create your own fighter using your Mii and create your own Fighter, using some of the more recognizable archetypes of Smash Fighters. Obviously you noted that the Gunner took inspiration from Samus, but also pulls from other “shooter” based fighters. Brawler obviously takes from close combat fighters, think more in lines of Street Fighter and others like it. Sword-fighter takes from the Fire Emblem and the Links (sword people). In addition to this, Smash 4 and Ultimate released purchasable outfits that you can have your Mii Fighter wear. A lot of these costumes often were generic costumes but also included more licensed costumes. In spirit it was meant to give more representation to popular franchises that fans had hoped to be included with the DLC fighters prior to each reveal or as a nod to characters would ask for as a meme, not expecting at all for these characters to be included. Some of these meme characters are Sans the Skeleton from the game Undertale, and Cuphead from the game Cuphead: Don’t Deal With The Devil. Being outfits for the Mii Gunner. These are simply costumes, but even this was hype for fans. One because it showed that Sakurai and his team are very well aware of memes and jokes revolving Smash (a fact that has been acknowledged even prior), and showed the readiness of bigger companies to embrace indie games such as Undertale and Cuphead, as well as their creators. (Funny note: Steve from Minecraft was one of the biggest meme suggestions, as the mechanics and gameplay of Minecraft are massively out of place in a game like Smash. Sakurai implied during Steve’s reveal that there was not so subtle executive meddling to find a way to put Minecraft into Smash because of the sheer popularity of Minecraft (being the best-selling video game of all time).
31:36 Every Dragonquest game (and the anime) has their own hero character and each has their own name. So they just went with Hero and let the players figure it out from there. Btw. If you need another series to watch, Dragon Quest: The adventure of Dai, is a good one. Also the Dragonquest characterd were designed by Akira Toriyama (who made Dragonball). Rest in Peace.
(20:59) her little star friend is called luma they are the cute star creatures from Mario galaxy which is where rosalina made her debut appearance in best Mario game for the Wii along with Mario galaxy 2
If Fox beats Falco one of his victory lines would be "Better luck next time Falco." Falco's would be "You're off your game Fox." Sonme other fighters had same ones like Lucina, Palutena, Robin.
Pokemon Trainer has 9 Victory Poses, one for each of the Pokemon you can use in-game (one of your special moves is to switch Squirtle -> Ivysaur -> Charizard -> Squirtle, each with different stats and moves
also just a couple more clarifications! Each character (outside of the Miis) have 8 costumes, so some that repeat are just different costumes Sans the Skeleton is a main NPC from Undertale, a really fun and unique RPG. A lot of people clamored for him as a character, but he got shafted into being a costume for Mii Gunner You can tell what characters are from the same game/series by the symbol; they represent their series
Sans and Cuphead are both indie game characters from Undertale and Cuphead respectively. Theyre not actually characters in the game, but they're skins for the Mii Gunner, a customizeable fighter you make. So they're pretty much really cool cameos
Sans and Cuphead are all Mii Gunner costumes, as the Mii Fighters have fully customisable outfits and movesets, a lot of costumes being characters. Sans is from Undertale, a phenomenal indie game that you should absolutely check out, and Cuphead is from Cuphead, another indie game that is great to play two player. All of the Koopalings that you saw after them are costumes for Bowser Jr. Hero is simply named Hero as in the Dragon Quest series, most if not all of the protagonists are unnamed, or at least you name them, similar to Pokemon Trainer. The reason a lot of the characters had the same animations is because they were demonstrating alternate costumes that change the character as a whole. Also, I'm not sure if you noticed, but the icon that shows up at the start of each of them is meant to show what game series they come from.
- The victory theme for Mother/EarthBound fighters (Ness and Lucas) has gone through a lot of changes in the Smash series. The first and Melee had Eight Melodies (EarthBound), Brawl and For had Mother Earth (EarthBound Beginnings), and Ultimate uses Eight Melodies (EarthBound Beginnings). - Captain Falcon's victory theme also changed after Melee. It was originally the F-Zero X race clear theme, but Brawl onward changed it to F-Zero GX's clear theme. - Spoilers for a 25-year-old game: Sheik is actually Zelda (from Ocarina of Time) disguised as a Sheikah. In Melee and Brawl, the two fighters used to transform to each other (like what Pyra and Mythra do now). - Mr. Game & Watch had two different victory themes, but they were both Smash-original tracks made with Game & Watch sounds. - Some fighters come in male and female versions, with the same name (Pokemon Trainer, Villager, Wii Fit Trainer, Robin, Corrin, Inkling, Byleth). Well...sort of. In Japanese, the male and female Byleths have slightly different names. - Note that some fighters in certain IP groups will have different victory themes from everyone else. -> Bowser, Bowser Jr., Piranha Plant, Dark Samus, Ridley, and Meta Knight have metal versions of the Super Mario, Metroid, and Kirby victory themes. -> Lucina, Chrom, Robin: Id (Purpose) (Fire Emblem Awakening) -> Dark Pit: Dark Pit's Theme (Kid Icarus Uprising) -> Rosalina & Luma: Main Theme (Super Mario Galaxy) -> Corrin: Lost In Thoughts All Alone (Fire Emblem Fates) -> King K. Rool: Gangplank Galleon (Donkey Kong Country) -> Byleth: Edge of Dawn (Fire Emblem Three Houses) -> Sephiroth: Advent: One-Winged Angel (Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children) -> Pyra/Mythra: Battle!! (Xenoblade Chronicles 2) - Joker's victory theme (and the color of the victory area) can change if he wins on Mementos with music from Persona 3 (blue) or Persona 4 (yellow). Also, finishing a battle with his Final Smash will leave a freeze shot of the final "THE SHOW'S OVER" part. - Technically, the four Heroes do have default names (Eleven, Arus, Solo, Eight). The Slimes that the interact with in their third victory animation are the overall mascot of the Dragon Quest series. - Sephiroth is the only one with the fiery area - all a nod to the infamous Nibelheim incident. - Two of Sora's victory animations are actually ones he strikes after rounds in the Olympus Coliseum in KH1 (based on Cloud and Squall, incidentally). - Don't get too excited. "Sans" and "Cuphead" here are just Mii Gunner costumes.
the red symbol that keeps popping up is from the character's franchise, each franchise uses its own unique symbol that comes from the franchise; i.e. each pokemon character has a red pokeball symbol, and the zelda characters use the triforce symbol (the 3 red triangles that form a bigger triangle)
If you want to hear something funny listen to this. You know Isabelle the cute Shi Tzu like character. Yeah people pair her up with Doom Slayer since Doom Eternal and Animal Crossing New Horizons released at the same time. Thus making one of the cutest yet deadly pair with tons of fans from both sides drawing these characters for example Doom teaching Isabelle how to rip and tear.
I think I first found your channel a year or so after you guys first checked out this game and I remember thinking how weird it was that you watched all the reveal trailers and Final Smashes but NOT the victory animations. 1:40 My personal favorite is the one where Samus fires off a trio shots from her arm cannon, but Link’s (my original Main) and Bowser’s (my current Main) animations will always be dear to me. Incidentally you guys should check out the cutscenes from Metroid Dread some day.
One really interesting thing is when certain characters win against specific opponents (and with a specific animation) they have special quotes. Fox vs Falco: “Better luck next time, Falco!” Falco vs Fox: “You’re off your game, Fox!” Lucina vs Marth: “This is The Hero King?” Lucina vs Ike: “And they called you The Radiant Hero?” M Robin vs Lucina: “Lucina, I hope I didn’t hurt you.” F Robin vs Lucina: “How can you protect Chrom if you can’t protect yourself?” Palutena vs Pit: “Oh, so sorry about that, Pit!” Palutena vs Dark Pit: “Poor little Pittoo!” Dark Pit vs Pit: “Where’s your goddess now?”
That fourth victory pose from Joker can be seen ONLY if Joker ends the match with a final smash and since people tends to play with no final smashes is of the least seen victory poses.
To explain Sora, it wasn't entirely about the copyrights, but the fact that the Disney characters aren't originally from video games. If they could've made it in with this rule put aside is a different question, but hey, we at least have Mickey's likeness on the keychain.
@@Mari_Izu I never had expectation for them to appear, but I was hoping his Final Smash would at the very least feature a blue and green light in reference to them.
11:40 "I'm Meta Knight, and you're watching the Disney Channel." Me and my brother would always say how Meta Knight's victory theme sounds like the Disney Channel theme lmao. Love it though!! In terms of music, Pit's and Palutena's, Villager's & Isabelle's, Lucas and Ness's, and Meta Knight's are my faves. In terms of victory poses, Sephiroth's, Mewtwo's, Ridley's, Fox's, Falco's, and Wolf's are my faves.
So "Sans" is a character from a game called "UNDERTALE" (yes, all in caps). I would love it if you did some UNDERTALE reactions. The Music, Gameplay, and Characters in the game are all so amazing!!! Sans is the most popular character in the game, and since Toby Fox, the Indie Developer of UNDERTALE, helped with the Music of SSBU (as well as some of the new Pokémon Games) he got to put a character as a Mii-Gunner Costume. Also, the Mii Characters are characters that you can create yourself to make them look like yourself, these are called Mii's Mii's used to be more common in Nintendo Games back in the Wii days, but they're not so common anymore...
Not only that, but since Xander Mobus was already working with them as the Announcer and the Hand (Master/Crazy). They didn't have to use someone else for Joker.
the icon that appears over the white background before the victory pose actually indicates what game series each character (excluding R.O.B.) is from. for example the diagonal sword with the hilt in the top right is for Fire Emblem, the bow and arrow is for Kid Icarus, and the pokéball for Pokémon edit: as for why this doesnt count for R.O.B. is cause R.O.B. is a physical toy for the snes in the real world and doesnt have a game (fun fact, R.O.B. stands for Robotic Operating Buddy)
Marth, Lucina, Roy, Chrom, Ike, Byleth, Corrin are all from the Fire Emblem video game series. Sheik is basically Zelda’s alter ego. She can transform / disguise.
Sora in dark-white colors is original from KH 2 when Sora arrived to Classic Disney world. Classic Dinsey was dark and white and had old version of Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck.
Even if some of the fighters's movesets are outdated, you can't deny the love and effort in the animations and designs of Smash Bros! Please, whenever you can, react to the works of Thorgi's Arcade! (Build the Roster, Fighting Game Retrospectives, Make a Sequel, etc)
0:47 “She looks evil…” ow, my heart 💔 Nah, but I guess the Inklings may look weird with their fang teeth but it’s just a reference to the squids they evolved from 🦑 I would say and recommend a video on Splatoon 1’s story but I don’t actually know one 😅 At some point you’ll get to it. The lore of Splatoon does go deep and gets dark fast. Fun fact: it is Nintendo’s most popular modern series and it was a no-brainer their characters would be in Smash Ultimate which is why they revealed them in the first trailer.
A Pichu is a pre-evolved Pikachu. And a Raichu is an evolved Pikachu. Marth, Lucina, Roy, Chrom, Ike, Corrin, and Byleth are all from Fire Emblem (different games but same series). They're tactical RPGS
9:30 The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time split its story between Link’s childhood (assumed to be 9-12 years old) and his “adulthood” (by medieval standards at least) 7 years later. This created something of 2 standard ages for Link based on whether he’s a child or adult in the game in question. Of course, there are multiple incarnations of the hero spread across the timeline, the oldest being the Hero of the Wilds who, by the events of Tears or the Kingdom was anywhere from 120-125 years old via a magically induced, century long stasis. This is further muddled by the Hero’s Shade from Twilight Princess, the same Link from Ocarina of Time who’s spirit came back from the dead to guide his descendent a century or so after his death.
All the Kirbys victory dances are basicaly the same because when Kirby beats a enemy in basicaly every game he does a dance and it takes like 6 seconds so he cut it im three to make his victory dances also the music it is called Kirbys victory dance too
Pichu is a pre evolution form of Pikachu. Also Sheik is actually Zelda in disguise as a ninja. In the world of Pokémon. All of their Pokémon go towards an evolution form. They basically transform, for example Charmander turns into Charmelion and Charmelion turns into Charzard.
It's strange the video didn't show female Pokemon trainer but literally everyone else :/ Also its funny how yall were againist the bug gift the villager found. In Japan finding a beetle like that is like Westerns finding a puppy, lol
The reason why Hero is called Hero is because they are from a game series called Dragon Quest which had characters designed by Akira Toriyama himself. In each game you can name the Hero whatever you want yes they have official names but they all can be named whatever you want hence why the use the name Hero. MIn Min is an Arm's fighter, Arm's are humans whose arms can stretch out to incredible ranges. A person can become an Arm's fighter quite literally out of nowhere and a rare few are born with Arms. They wear masks which helps them control their arms.
Zero Suit Samus is flexible because shes part alien-bird species which allows her superhuman flexibility, strength, speed and stamina. Which is why she's the only one who can wear her suit and become Samus.
The mii fighters have lots of different costumes that you can buy from the Nintendo Eshop so you can buy cuphead, mugman, Sans the skeleton head man from undertale and a lot more

Marth appeared in the first Fire Emblem game for the original NES while Smash Bros Melee was Roy's debut game before the game where he was the protagonist released
The sign with the number "765" for Pac-Man is actually a reference to the arcade game "Pac-Land". Which is not like the maze games but rather a side scroller
The pixel cowboys with Duck Hunt are from a game that also required the Zapper much like the Duck Hunt game. Wild Gunman
The black and white Sora is from the Timeless River stage in the second Kingdom Hearts game.
He was used to promote Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth for the Nintendo 3DS, which would be the last game released for the console
Fun fact: Joker and the announcer from Smash share the same VA. Xander Mobus
Also of note for 7650, it's a type of japanese pun called a goroawase. If you use the right onyomi and kunyomi, it sounds like namuco (or namco)
Binding Blade hasn't been released outside of Japan yet. We got Blazing Blade as our first Fire Emblem title, or FE7 as it's shortened to.
To add a bit about Min Min and ARMS:
In the ARMS world, people can be affected by something called the "ARMS gene", think of it as becoming a mutant in Marvel.
Since Yoshi has his own series of games (Yoshi's Island), he's considered separate from the other Mario characters like Wario (WarioWare/Wario Land) and DK (Donkey Kong Country) are
Because Yoshi has had his own series of games over the years just like DK and Wario, so they considered him separate from the other Mario characters.
The monado is the Xenoblade logo since its in the three games (idk about XCX)
The 4 Heroes are from Dragon Quest, particularly 11, 3, 4, and 8. Since you can name them whatever you want, they went with just "Hero" in Smash. Same thing with "Pokemon Trainer."
Weird that they complained about Hero but didn't say anything about Pokemon trainer despite having a canon name

A lot of these poses are an homage to what they do in their own games.
And once again, I’m going to suggest “Hades Misguidance” as a reaction series.
You get to know more about the characters that the official games would never say about them.
Because again, “Hades Misguidance” is a fan-made parody of “Palutena’s Guidance”
You already got the attention of the creators of the fan-made one, and they appreciated it. So you’re safe in watching it.
I think my favorite subtle one is Sonic's thumbs up, where the running animation he does is based on the Sega start up logo from Sonic 2
okay, to explain Yoshi's third animation.
Actually yoshi is mimicking the pose Charizard does in official art as a reference to one of game freak’s first games being a yoshi game
Actually yoshi is mimicking the pose Charizard does in official art as a reference to one of game freak’s first games being a yoshi game
There's also Andrew from the Coffin of Andy and LeyLey... A game which teases an incestuous relationship with your sister.
I too would like to see them play Undertale! :D

Still, would've been nice if they distinguished the four in some way, like, calling them The Luminary, Erdrick, Solo, and The Governer respectively.
@@theherohartmut they DO all have canon names after all, being Eleven, Arusu, Solo and Eight respectively.
@@koopliss Only Arusu is canon. Eleven, Solo, and Eight are just fan nicknames.

Luigis are the most perfect ones for his character. I couldn't imagine Luigi doing literally anything else when trying to look cool
Also poor ludwig and Morton and lemmy the forgotten koopalings 😢

About Lucas’ “sword” animation. That is actually one of the Seven Needles. In the game he’s from (Mother 3), he pulls these out of the ground to awaken the Dark Dragon at the end who is basically the Shenron of the game. Only those who can use an ability called PK Love (which is Lucas’ up Smash in game) can pull these needles. The only other person who can pull them is his brother Claus. But they are very integral to the story of Mother 3 !
The Dark Dragon is also called the Bird of Light but most references to that were cut from the game, leaving only the Pr(L)ayer Sanctuary
Wario doesnt throw up a 3, he throws up a W, both for his name and the fact he won
Also the mii fighters are highly customizale, having a lot of different outfits and moves to choose from. After all, Mii's were meant to be you
I love how you’re both so entertained, and your fur baby just snoozed through the video on top of Ken. 😊 😂
unfortunately adding any Disney character that isn't originally from Kingdom Hearts (examples being Mickey, Donald, Goofy, and any other disney character with their already existing movie) wasn't allowed in.

Yeah, it was pretty weird.
Fun fact: some characters have unique lines if they win against a certain opponent, like Wolf for Fox or Palutena for Pit.

To explain Sora's black and white skin, he, Donald Duck and Goofy travelled to a world where Disney started off as black and white cartoons from the early 1920s and 1930s, so many of the classic Disney characters were in their original designs before they had their redesigns later on.
Yep. Place is called Timeless River.
7:57 Pichu is the pre-evolutionary stage of Pikachu. they are one of the many "baby Pokémon" species introduced in Gold and Silver.
29:36 they’re saying Mii Brawler, then Mii Sword-Fighter, then Mii Gunner
When the Nintendo Wii first released one of the biggest appeal was the ability to create your own avatar in your likeness called a Mii (Me).
Kirby always dances on his victory poses because in his games, when you beat a level Kirby makes a victory dance as well.
I love Meta Knight's "come back when you can put up a fight" voice line during one of his victory animations.

Every Dragonquest game (and the anime) has their own hero character and each has their own name. So they just went with Hero and let the players figure it out from there.
Btw. If you need another series to watch, Dragon Quest: The adventure of Dai, is a good one.
Also the Dragonquest characterd were designed by Akira Toriyama (who made Dragonball). Rest in Peace.
Hero is also a class of the main characters most of the time.

If Fox beats Falco one of his victory lines would be "Better luck next time Falco."
Falco's would be "You're off your game Fox."
Sonme other fighters had same ones like Lucina, Palutena, Robin.
24:36 i love this one because its a reference to his victory pose from street fighter 4
Many end poses are based on official promotion art that you would only see in magazines and manuals.
36:45 Easily the HARDEST victory screen I’ve seen
Pokemon Trainer has 9 Victory Poses, one for each of the Pokemon you can use in-game (one of your special moves is to switch Squirtle -> Ivysaur -> Charizard -> Squirtle, each with different stats and moves
also just a couple more clarifications!
Each character (outside of the Miis) have 8 costumes, so some that repeat are just different costumes
Sans the Skeleton is a main NPC from Undertale, a really fun and unique RPG. A lot of people clamored for him as a character, but he got shafted into being a costume for Mii Gunner
You can tell what characters are from the same game/series by the symbol; they represent their series
I like that the 3rd pose is the pose they do for either promotional art or box art.
Fun Fact:
Pichu is basically a baby Pikachu.
Sans and Cuphead are both indie game characters from Undertale and Cuphead respectively. Theyre not actually characters in the game, but they're skins for the Mii Gunner, a customizeable fighter you make. So they're pretty much really cool cameos

@@MHGamingUA-cam You're not supposed to punish poor Bethany! She's a nice lady.

-> Lucina, Chrom, Robin: Id (Purpose) (Fire Emblem Awakening)
-> Dark Pit: Dark Pit's Theme (Kid Icarus Uprising)
-> Rosalina & Luma: Main Theme (Super Mario Galaxy)
-> Corrin: Lost In Thoughts All Alone (Fire Emblem Fates)
-> King K. Rool: Gangplank Galleon (Donkey Kong Country)
-> Byleth: Edge of Dawn (Fire Emblem Three Houses)
-> Sephiroth: Advent: One-Winged Angel (Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children)
-> Pyra/Mythra: Battle!! (Xenoblade Chronicles 2)
- Joker's victory theme (and the color of the victory area) can change if he wins on Mementos with music from Persona 3 (blue) or Persona 4 (yellow).

To explain Sora, it wasn't entirely about the copyrights, but the fact that the Disney characters aren't originally from video games.

Mii's used to be more common in Nintendo Games back in the Wii days, but they're not so common anymore...
All of Inking's poses are poses that they do in game as well every time they win a turf war match.
Fun little fact, Sakurai was a big fan of the interactive menu for Persona 5 and was a primary reason for Joker being added to Smash.
Not only that, but since Xander Mobus was already working with them as the Announcer and the Hand (Master/Crazy). They didn't have to use someone else for Joker.
the icon that appears over the white background before the victory pose actually indicates what game series each character (excluding R.O.B.) is from. for example the diagonal sword with the hilt in the top right is for Fire Emblem, the bow and arrow is for Kid Icarus, and the pokéball for Pokémon
edit: as for why this doesnt count for R.O.B. is cause R.O.B. is a physical toy for the snes in the real world and doesnt have a game (fun fact, R.O.B. stands for Robotic Operating Buddy)
Most of this victory poses were from Melee or Brawl, pervious smash games that Sakurai just reused for Ultimate but slightly changed .
Aww this is so cute seeing you two react to this.
0:47 “She looks evil…” ow, my heart 💔
Nah, but I guess the Inklings may look weird with their fang teeth but it’s just a reference to the squids they evolved from 🦑
I would say and recommend a video on Splatoon 1’s story but I don’t actually know one 😅
At some point you’ll get to it. The lore of Splatoon does go deep and gets dark fast.
Fun fact: it is Nintendo’s most popular modern series and it was a no-brainer their characters would be in Smash Ultimate which is why they revealed them in the first trailer.

A little difference between Pikachu and Pichu. When a Pichu uses any electric attack. It damages not only its opponent but itself as well.
they didn't need to put all the alt skins too. only if there was a big difference, like with the Inklings.
I really hope you guys do the Assist Trophies and Poke Ball Pokemon for Smash Bros at some point soon.
A Pichu is a pre-evolved Pikachu. And a Raichu is an evolved Pikachu.
Marth, Lucina, Roy, Chrom, Ike, Corrin, and Byleth are all from Fire Emblem (different games but same series). They're tactical RPGS
Robin is also from Fire Emblem

The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time split its story between Link’s childhood (assumed to be 9-12 years old) and his “adulthood” (by medieval standards at least) 7 years later.
Pac-Man and Bayonetta main here :D
All the Kirbys victory dances are basicaly the same because when Kirby beats a enemy in basicaly every game he does a dance and it takes like 6 seconds so he cut it im three to make his victory dances also the music it is called Kirbys victory dance too
@@D.Andrade-tq8mq I only just started to question the 3 split after all these years of seeing it lol😅
It's strange the video didn't show female Pokemon trainer but literally everyone else :/
Also its funny how yall were againist the bug gift the villager found. In Japan finding a beetle like that is like Westerns finding a puppy, lol
They didnt show off the other Koopalings either.
16:02 Yeah, Sonic, my boi :D
actually...yeah o.o ...I didn't notice the xenomorph - Ridley analogy...you are right though.
Bowser Jr.'s Bib is occasionally pulled up so that his mouth "looks like" he is snarling.
The mii fighters have lots of different costumes that you can buy from the Nintendo Eshop so you can buy cuphead, mugman, Sans the skeleton head man from undertale and a lot more
Most characters are skins of each other, that's why they have the same animation
