What is remarkable here is that they always wanted to fend for themselves to get ahead in life using their profession. In most cases the "mantenidas" women do not have education or culture and tend to be of low stratum. They depend on their physical beauty and believe that with this they have the right to demand everything from their couple. Only foolish, naive men, without esteem, fall into this trap that little by little turns into hell.

There are a lot of homeless Venezuelans here in Barranquilla. Some are working, but you go to areas like around Plaza de San Nicolás and they’re sleeping on the pavement in the shade of the cathedral and under trees of nearby areas. And they look nothing like her. It’s a sad situation for Colombia and for the humanitarian crisis created by the administrations of Chavez and Maduro.

Isabel is a very intelligent and a delightful well travelled woman. She wants a man not needs a man. She is not materialistic and appreciates the life around her. Her interview and the 44 year old woman were the most interesting ones for me and makes me want to jump on a plane to Cali and meet them!
They are not that hard to find in Colombia. I keep saying over and over again that countries like the USA are not manufacturing the type of women most men would want. Those models are obsolete and they no longer have the ability to create them, just like we can't duplicate the technology we use to build the rockets they got us to the moon.

I don’t know now if those women were off or just bad with math and analyzing, that happens all the time in the states. I can see how getting in the outdoors meeting cool people could work, I tried yoga in the states and the yoga diva feminism energy drove me off multiple times. I don’t know how different it would be there, I’m assuming way better … lol She keeps it real, the Colombian young girls tend to be freaky for sure and you got a lot of single moms . While i’m good with animals, i’m not on the level of isabel nor my mom. I hope she continues enjoying her life, remains safe, and keep her connection with animals remain blessed.

Many years ago I had sworn off dating women in the US and decided to head abroad again. Then I met an amazing woman here that became my best friend and then my partner for 14 years (we decoupled amicably last winter and remain close friends). Isabel is clearly a lovely person and makes me feel solid in the idea of being able to find a good match and create a beautiful life in Colombia. After the horror stories of gold diggers and scopolamine, she restores my faith. I love my home and farm in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, but heading south is pretty compelling these days.
