Super message, and yes you are right my friend.... it's something to be proud of, and we have to be content and conformed with what we have... God is good, and the earth is blessed. Take care all of you,.
Agreed. Spending our time complaining about bad things or events means we have surrendered to them. And that is really the choice. Surrender or overcome. I choose to overcome.
Great philosophy Pete. If more people in the world would think that way, we could almost extinguish the negativity. Great video, keep up the good work. Waiting patiently for the next.....thanks. Jeff
We need more Pete and Hilary's in the world but also in more influntial and planning positions. You two are so uplifting and positive it is infectious. Bravo
I strongly agree that a good portion of our age group does seem to be wrapped around current events and give up hope quickly. I would like to share a prayer that I refer to during trial times (God grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change, Courage to change the things I can and the Wisdom to know the difference). I hope this will help with guidance for some.
There are some in every generation going back hundreds. if not thousands of years, that think the world is going to hell. The fact that it hasn't totally happened yet, and we still have the capability of moving on, is encouraging enough to keep me moving forward.
Thank you Pete and Hilary. You are so spot on about the negativity. To many people have lost sight of the fact that it is a choice; half full or half empty. I applaud your effort to try to steer the negative folks in a healthier direction - but that is a tough thing to accomplish and you must have the patience of a saint. Honestly, I can't do it. I just have to walk away because I've lost hope that I have that much influence. I enjoyed the focus on the chickens. Spending more time with them would not hurt my feelings. I also like your aerial footage. Seeing the stripes left in the pasture as the chicken tractors are moved ahead is really interesting. THey really have an impact on the grasses. Hoping you will revisit your decision on pigs - knowing that good genetic feeders are a hit or miss proposition in your region. SO the position is open to be that farmer with great genetic feeders. 😊
You spoke up how the world is and I’m with you we’re not thankful and grateful. For a moment I escape in answer to the world, little farm life and watch you have a beautiful relationship with your animals. Although we are meat eaters, we appreciate the effort to make I was life worth living. Your relationship with each animal, especially a new cast, the new chicks and the pigs. My prayer is that bossy people becomes a mother and see what those little piglets would look like running around. Thank you pig for making this Sunday a great and relax one.
First and foremost, Sunday is our day to worship our Lord and thank Him for all the blessings He has given us for the past week and then asking Him to bless our upcoming week so that our work may glorify Him. We try to rest our minds and bodies in order to tackle the week ahead. If we surrender ourselves and our will to Him, He takes care of us. One of my favorite novenas is the Surrender Novena, “Jesus, I trust in you, take care of everything”. And going into Nature is peaceful because it is all about God, who is peace. That is why we are blessed to be farmers/ranchers. So happy Sunday to all!
At 72 I can relate with your observations revealed in this video. I am having difficulty finding joy in life. I just don't seem to have any ambition to do anything. This is a radical change to what my life was like my entire adult life. I always had a project to work on in my shop and things I wanted to accomplish. Not anymore. Things seem to bother me more than they should. I gave up my home (and shop) of 40 years a year ago because it just got too much to maintain. Moved to Florida in a 55+ community to live the "good" life. My wife loves it. I miss the four seasons, hunting, having a shop in which to tinker, the small community in which I felt a sense of community, a home and property that was familiar like that of an old well worn jacket that just feels comfortable and familiar, I miss my tractor and mowing the field, the raspberry patch and my truck. Don't ever give up your modest farm. Work it until you can't any longer. Oh, I suspect you will downsize in many areas just because someday you will not be able to keep up with all you do today but don't give up all of it and radically change your life for something so foreign and unfamiliar. Sometimes there is great comfort and contentment on keeping that old barn jacket around because when you put it on it is familiar, almost an old friend, and strangely the world seems a better place when you have it on.
I just watched your video of your cabin. I can't say that I blame you for missing it. I am happy you had a chance to enjoy the life you wanted when you did. You were doing things at that cabin that I would like to do but the stars have never aligned to do it. So I am 4 years your junior, still in a one-bedroom apartment with my lovely wife, hoping that some day we'll get a place, but I fear it will be more like where you are now, no garage, no shop. As it is, a part of our bedroom is my workshop - bless my wife for allowing me to pursue my hobbies. Hang in there, John! 🙂
So true Pete... Stay off the news, keep yourself busy with projects and life building, setting goals. And worrying about what you can control or impact....
I live in Northern California, in an area that is mostly ranching, dairy, and forestry. Seeing the drone footage of your farm so green and lush this time of year is so very refreshing! Here, all the grass is turning brown, and I know we are heading into peak fire season. As such, thank you for sharing that video footage. As for being uplifting, your videos are always uplifting. Not for any particular thing that you say or do, but rather because you are a man and wife who love each other (Hillary HAS to love you to put up with jokes like that!), and who are spending your years together and doing work that you enjoy and are passionate about. Thank you for sharing that, the world needs such positive examples as you both are. 🙏
It’s always better to look on the bright side. Many of us have lost that, or are loosing it. Old and young. But it’s always a good reminder to “look on sunny side” as the song goes. Another great video!
Pete, God’s blessings are all around us, we just have to look for them. He is a loving God that has shown that the closer we are to him the clearer our vision becomes. Keep up the great videos.
I do also get into the "glass half full" as Pete said here. But I have my kids spread many miles from our retired lives and suddenly it's time for a motorhome trip again to be with to be them all at another "Clan Bash" The "glass half full" is overflowing and we like it. Grandpa gets hugs from his 10 year old granddaughter. We are blessed, indeed.
Morning Pete and Hillary It doesn’t matter what your videos are about ,being able to spend time with you makes our days better .Thank you for that .God Bless.
Thank you for posting this one. I'm guilty of dwelling on the negative these days. It's difficult to build up, rather than tear down. Again, thank you.
@@yepyep340 I heard Pete say that he tries or tried to help people see things in a glass half full way. I’m not sure if it’s a duty as sometimes it’s appropriate to feel like you’re glass is half empty eg. when family or friends are unwell or die 🤔 🙂
Thank you for reminding me just how Blessed I am! God Bless you, and I KNOW He loves you and has never stopped working on the things that have been put on hold. You will wake up one day soon and they will be completed.
As a family man your words hit hard and true pete in this day and age we all need to slow down and look around at what we've got and realize life ain't so bad and enjoy those little moments. Thank you for the wonderful words.
Thanks for another great video. The drone shots of your farm are spectacular and your words of wisdom are much appreciated. Life it too short to spend time being miserable and unhappy. When you get to be as old as I am, you realize that negativity doesn't improve your quality of life. Be positive and having gratitude for all the things you do have in your life. You woke up this morning...start with that. You were able to watch Pete and Hillary showing life on their beautiful farm - you have a computer and internet. Keep going, trust me the positives are there all around you, maybe then you won't be discouraged with negativity in the world. I choose to improve my little piece of it. Thanks Pete - have a great week and we'll see you this week.
Great, uplifting video! I must be in the minority, as I am 80 years old, and I definitely see the beauty in nature. Living here in Maine, there is the natural goodness all around. I love it. Thanks for your positive outlook……it’s wonderful. God bless….Bev in Maine
Many of us have stayed quiet about what is going on and gave the younger generations the opinion that it is all okay. Speaking ones mind is good. If for no other reason than it allows others to know where you are at. Positive can be over dosed as easily as negative. We love watching your videos and we always look forward to them. Thanks for sharing.
I love the aerial view of the chicken area - you can see where they were - It's quite fascinating. BEAUTIFUL land you have there. And yes I used to be the half empty - when I worked in Corp america. I feel that's part of the problem. It's all about making a mark and -goals, KPIs, what not. And instead of being thankful and grateful, they tend to focus on what went wrong. Leaving corp and working for myself for almost 7 years and now an NPO - where you focus on good, focus on service has changed my how I look at life as a blessing, and am so grateful for my life. Thank you for your amazing journey and sharing of it. And the smoking tips have been fantastic... we smoked some stew meat before we chunked it up and WOW...did that make the stew super tasty. We would never have thought of doing that if it hadn't been for one of the episodes on a tougher piece of meat being smoked.
Comfort from nature is a real thing. Just a walk through the woods, or sitting back and looking at my view from my back patio is all I need to be reminded life is okay and the only thing that truly matters is right here at home
Thanks, Pete, for those insightful perceptions and words. Having just turned 79, I am struggling with some of those very things. Thanks to you I'm trying, again, to reconsider my thoughts.
Combatting my wives half empty moving to the country is slowly getting better. I'm hoping she comes around soon. It's so much nicer out here. Cows in the backyard. Three cars a day go past. My own little deer herd. Mowing more than a 1/4 acre. I'm loving it. No delivery anything. Not even a red light!
Thanks for encouraging us to focus on the positive things and all that we have to be thankful for Pete. You are indeed right. Too easy to focus on the negative.
Your philosophy on life is uplifting and one of the reasons many of us are loyal followers. But I think it’s equally important to understand and recognize those that are tackling the current political and social problems. You’re correct, sometimes they are so intent that they become obsessive and perhaps upbeat people like you can inject a respite. But we also need to recognize that without people with intense dedication, our opportunities for individual pursuits wouldn’t exist. Small towns and neighbors are important but an expanded view is also necessary.
Unfortunately the only "intense dedication" I usually see is a parroting of what they saw on some slanted news source, and no action; just complaining. There's no "tackling" involved.
Thanks for taking the time to respond to my comment. Unfortunately, media on both/all sides is having a field day with all the heightened emotions and many people are in a constant state of anxiety over it. I don’t think there’s a good answer to the worry. I have strong religious belief but I shudder when I hear religious platitudes. And, although I have very clear political beliefs, I don’t see a clear path to resolution. And now that I’ve sounded like one of those obsessives, I’ll end with a big thank you again for the steady, thoughtful path you sound.
I just wanted to add something about our chicks; we took a middle May shipment of chicks, we not only got all of them, but 3 extra too. We luckily haven't lost any, yet, but we did have an issue with raccoons, that got under the cage and nibbled a toe off of a couple, so I had to take care of that issue, but it's going fine other than that. We all could use a bit of positive encouragement from time to time. I too try to look at my glass a half full and not dwell on the negatives of the day. This was a nice talk Pete I do like what your saying, thanks and have a nice day.
Last time I ordered chicks from Murray McMurray my mail carrier delivered 302 chicks rite to my porch even though I only ordered 300, pre pandemic order! Now I have my own incubator and Hatcher so I no longer need to order chicks. My incubator and hatcher have more than paid for themselves. I’ve hatched chickens, ducks, turkeys! It’s all farming to me!
Nothing like blue sky puffy white clouds and green trees ,grass wherever u look..does help the soul..myself my glass is empty..but I still c blessings.
I like to see the chickens and what it takes to raise them. Yes, there is plenty of things to be positive about and I am thankful for that. We all need to be reminded of that from time to time. Life is too short.
God bless you Peter and Hilary. Yes we do stray to the negitive as humans ,but we need good people to direct our thoughts to the positives to give direction of quality
Hi Pete and Hillary, your talk was spot on Pete. And I want to say I bet there are a lot of city people like me that love your channel and want to see the videos have chicken or chicks sections to them. You mentioned you do not think you tube watchers like the chickens so much. I love to see them come out of the chicken house in the field and all the work you put in to them. It is very interesting, so please keep showing them. Love the “come on “cows for sure but your channel is so well rounded with the farmers market and your tractors and cooking food, it is all just great and appreciated so much! Have a great day.
I am so very glad I ran across your channel! I enjoyed seeing the chickens - the different ages in their chicken tractors, and the aerial view of your farm. It’s so very beautiful and green this time of year. I want to thank you for your “little talk” - it’s nice to run across like minded people. I agree, there’s too much negativity in this work and people are not thankful for their surroundings or what they have. Look forward to more videos - bye from Texas
Yes, Pete I am 74 and I try to daydream about the present and the future...and I try to stay positive...tough listening to the past...tough thinking about some of the past so i am trying to stay on the positive side of life....and thanks love the chickens...I live in northern california, north of Redding. I swear I heard a hog this morning outside..and my dog during the night was a growling. Saw a sidewinder in my shed last Sunday, know it all people was telling me what I didnt see lmao! So the water leak got fixed and the snake is not to be found and I have no idea what that was this morning for sure but...I am laughing right now cause next corner is another adventure for sure! Thanks for the video this morning I so enjoy your Hilary and you Pete, so much!
Hello, Pete and Hilarie. First time viewer here. Just thought I'd let you know that I'm not bored by chickens. In fact, that's what caught my attention. I have a micro chicken farm and I love them.
I also get tired of constantly being bombarded with the negative side of things. Sometimes I just want to walk away from a conversation because of it. And this is sometimes with good friends or family members which I dearly love and respect. I have found that I need to be mindful of their good points and let them vent without constantly trying to contradict them. This attitude has improved how I feel.
Great message Pete! It was uplifting and I can relate to trying to have the perspective to enjoy life more with the right mind set. Enjoy your week Pete and Hillarie.
I believe some of today’s issues are a result of the necessities of being stuck inside over the duration of Covid and now need to get out and visit a National Park or something they enjoy outdoors. It may help bring back their perpective of how a brief vacation can change one’s entire outlook on life. Turn off the TV, unplug the computer. Turn off your phone & drive !!!
Exactly! I see a new video from Just a Few Acres Farm and my heart is lifted, knowing I am about to receive some goodness! So much to be thankful for - thank you!
I feel the same as you. In fact I cut out all news feeds and influence peddling media. I still become aware of what is going on and if it is local I get news of important things and emergencies directly from sources. I don't regret cutting the cable and I don't think it is hiding from bad news its survival. I am not Pollyanna like because that is nearly as unrealistic. I also like you idea about people trying to solve problems instead of complaining. Effort toward a goal makes you feel good. Help your neighbors. I only focus on 3 to 5 things at a time. Yes it's okay to keep adding to the lists of things you need to do but you cannot positively impact on more than say 3 to 5 things. Fix them and move to the next priorities. Hopefully your neighbors will see your comments. You all do a great job.
Hello Hilarie & Peter. Good seeing both of you today! Peter I always look forward to your "words of wisdom". Always something to ponder on later. Yes, we need a bit of a boost to the happy sides of our lives. Pray that our future administration will be able to bring us back to a good life. For all of us. And do our best to be encouraged to a better future. Be well.
I agree with you. I'm 68 and most people I see complain either their own problems or politics. I enjoy your videos especially when you are working on tractors. Your thoughts you express are up lifting. Thank you
Hi Pete we see everything thats negative because we see it all. Makes it tough on us who grew up during our safer times. But I remember when it was happier times. With mom home dad working a regular forty or so hours per week. No kid ever got in trouble for fear of a spanking. Pride in our nation and respect.
Thanks Pete for your uplifting video. Just being at my home, with my gardens and chickens is enough for me to recharge after a crazy night of work at the hospital. Your videos make me smile ❤
And I'm looking forward to going to the fair. I've always enjoyed seeing what people are DOING, creating, interested in, giving their lives to, that IS good. SO much better than listening to ain't-it-awful "news" or unkind, unhealthy "entertainment."
Good message on negativity. Nature and the renewal of life will always do it for me. Knowing that the world will continue to spin is the best ingredient for humility and peace of mind.
Good morning Pete and Hillary. Thank you guys for taking time to bring us such a wonderful video with a thoughtful perspective. Being appreciative of the beauty surrounding us and taking a moment to enjoy nature. Love your message, thanks.😊
Hi Pete and Hillary. My husband and I have watched your channel for years and eagerly await new episodes. I saw the news about the severe rain events in the Northeast and notice that Syracuse is included. We are praying that your farm and family are okay.
I love cream. I guess it does come from crap, in the cycle, when you think about it. I also love lemonade. It's so refreshing on a hot day. We can sweeten those sour lemons with just a little sprinkling of a happy frame of mind and have something so good in the end. It's a good reminder to look at it that way. We all need it from time to time. Your farm is looking prime! The blessing of rainfall has worked its healing of the earth. Why have I never noticed the pond before?! It's so picturesque down there. JJ appeared to be taking your words to heart. If only Patty would do the same....
Thank you for the encouragement. I'm 79 live in Idaho and tend to get down at times. Daily I look at my life and try to see the positive. I own my home, I can still take care of the yard or hire things out. I have a loving little dog and two cat's. I do however have a problem with where I live, a nice town that unfortunately is getting bigger and more crowded daily. I'm originally from Alaska and want to go back and have some space and breath the mountain air. ❤ hopefully it will work out. You have such a beautiful farm and are such gracious people. Thanks so much.
Super message, and yes you are right my friend.... it's something to be proud of, and we have to be content and conformed with what we have... God is good, and the earth is blessed. Take care all of you,.
Thanks Pete for the spot on philosophical view this country is in! Stay positive and love thy neighbor! All we gotta do. Stay true to who we are

God’s second greatest commandment… love your neighbor as yourself. Truth from God! Amen ❤
Hoping the 1,000 year storm further to the East didn't effect you much. 😢
God has blessed all of us viewers with Pete Philosophy. And may God Bless America! Tim in northern TN
It’s always a good day when they upload
Good morning Just A Few Acres Farm

Oh my goodness! You are so correct. In today’s world, we need all the encouragement we can get.

Sorry. I didn't realize I was sending a reply and not a comment...

Thank-you for your talk. It's comforting. I love seeing your farm from above. It reminds me of my grandparents farm in Minnesota when I was little.❤
I like that you try to steer people back to the things to be grateful for.

If not for Pete and this channel, I would have deleted UA-cam a long time ago. Thankful for Pete and his family.
Everyone needs to own chickens because they bring so much peace.
Keep up trying to uplift, it is hard and sometimes it is a challenge, but the downside is the dark side so stay positive America.

Your positivity is why i watch your channel
Pete you need to write a book on staying positive and dealing with the bad things in a good way.
Thanks for staying positive. People that choose to be miserable I avoid, life is too short.
Thank you for sharing from your heart. Glen and Sioux.
You always make my day better. Thanks for being you and Hilary!. It’s always a good day when they upload.
Pete you are golden. It is an uphill battle against the negative-thinking people. Never give up. You are not alone!
Best, Liz
Last time I ordered chicks from Murray McMurray my mail carrier delivered 302 chicks rite to my porch even though I only ordered 300, pre pandemic order! Now I have my own incubator and Hatcher so I no longer need to order chicks. My incubator and hatcher have more than paid for themselves. I’ve hatched chickens, ducks, turkeys! It’s all farming to me!
It will not be late!😊
One must not focus on the negatives. Agreed. One must not be overwhelmed. One must overcome. Always.
Amen!😊
Nothing like blue sky puffy white clouds and green trees ,grass wherever u look..does help the soul..myself my glass is empty..but I still c blessings.
Got my coffee, nice to spend a sunday morning with you and Hillary, great shirt btw!
OH IO 🎉
I love the baby chicks!! I even love the way they smell! Brings back memories!!
I enjoy your videos so much. I've gone back and watched lots of the older ones. I hope you never stop posting!
Nicely said.
What a beautiful farm the family has. Know you are grateful. I am a little envious. 😊❤
We come to your channel to see the goodness in the world❤
Thank you Pete and Hillary! 😊
Enjoy your Dad jokes and your Brightening out look. We have Alot to be thankful for 😊
Hello from Minnesota Pete I liked this one 😊
Hello, Pete and Hilarie. First time viewer here. Just thought I'd let you know that I'm not bored by chickens. In fact, that's what caught my attention. I have a micro chicken farm and I love them.
another fine day, thanks for feeding us
There are a lot of legitimate reasons to be down, but it is best to look at the bright side, we do have a beautiful future ahead of us ❤
I also get tired of constantly being bombarded with the negative side of things.
Whenever you upload a video, my frame of mind improves. Thank you both. And thanks for sharing.
Be well.
Pete I'm 57 100 % true we need more people like you. God bless
Thanks pete and hillary 👍. Wise words.take care.
Awesome. Always think postive. That is what our God wants for us
Impeccable timing! I just sat down with my coffee!
A POSITIVE ATTITUDE absolutely works wonders! Try it people!!!😊👍🙏🏻
Thanks Pete for your uplifting video.
Thanks Pete and Hilary!
