This is one of the most detailed yet semi affordable brick sets on the market. I'm amazed how detailed it is. The valve gear is impressive, and the Centipede tender design is genius. I should consider purchasing this
I mean for the powered up stuff I do have, losing the IR receiver for Bluetooth was a great move on Lego’s part. The only two things I miss are the extensions cords and a plug adapter/Stackability of outputs
I'm working a series of 6W cars I'd like to sell with LetBricks, give many of more the casual builders a good simple model. If you want 8 wide/fine scale theres plenty of good dudes who have durections already available
I’ve purchased LT products before. Currently a proud owner of Jepaz’s generation 3 GTEL, and soon to be the proud owner of his Veranda GTEL. Letbrick’s products are honestly pretty damned good. Their support team is also very quick to respond and answer questions you may have about the whole process and their company as a whole. Honestly can’t wait for my Veranda to get here
Great model! We love Legos and have built a little station for our Lionel Trains. Our LionMaster Big Boy can tackle the tighter turns like the kit you built. Neat to see it in brick form!! Wonderful work!
Usually not a fan of off brands, but this model makes me want to see more steam engines from these guys. Maybe SP 4449, N&W 611, or maybe some British designs like an LMS Coronation
I built this behemoth, only to notice the motors were running in opposite directions. I had to partially dismantle one of the wheel sets to rearrange one gear, in order to reverse the drive direction.
I received this set for Christmas from my family and was curious on curves it could take under power. Thanks for the review and showing what this unit can do with the different track setups. Now to get back to work on the locomotive for me.
FYI those secondary decals are still the wrong cut of Futura. UP uses 'book' or 'standard' weights of Futura. What you have appears to be the 'bold' or 'heavy' weight.
Are the lego tracks made from original lego? If not, does it fit with the lego tracks? Also the motor is from Lego right This thing is cheap it only costs 75SGD
@@ToledoRails Well, the Buwizz has way more power than a regular Lego motor so I think that, as long as you have traction, you could get this train moving really quickly.
@@justinnakatsuka7813 okay, does Buwizz make a motor that could fit roughly the size of the technic motor? They are integral to the build and not just slapped on. If it has more power that sounds very appealing, but this was designed a specific way for the L motor to be housed.
Well, I actually think that the key element of Buwizz is the power block, which is the same size as the Lego one. However, they market as a replacement alternative to the lego power systems so I think that all their components are the same dimensions as Lego's. This video shows the Buwizz running various trains, including a big boy. Not sure if it's the same model that Morning Strummer designed for Letbricks. ua-cam.com/video/iR0Nq9mFOpI/v-deo.html
I did not use glue on the model but it’s more than possible my wife needed to borrow it while I was building in our craft room and it made it into the shot
I just finished this and a few issues. Some pieces were missing, some of the build just didn't work or was overly complex - like the firebox door area in the cab. A few tweaks and this would go from a 'good' to a 'great' brick kit. The digital instructions also skip many crucial steps - you've been warned!
Or is this the one that I'm thinking of cause there's one that's black and bright silver and another one that black and the front is like a darker grey or something
@@crazygamer0518 there’s one by Jiestar that looks awfully ugly and not at all close to the prototype. This one amazingly can take standard lego curves.
When dealing with massive builds like this I will put the same parts in paper cups or coffee filters to break them up. Sorting by color also helps break up what you’re working with.
I’m not sure if there’s enough slack from the battery to do it, but there’s definitely room to put the battery box in the water tank. You’d have a great launching off point to try it!
I recommend it, the designers made a great model. I would advise to invest in Lego Powered Up for the power box and motor bogie so you have fine control of the locomotive. The Chinese electronics supplied are lacking
@@ToledoRailshave you hered of bevins bricks he made a 9v power pickup that has a pf plugs that connects to the pf train moter that makes it able to run off 9v power . Got one so it might work with these knockoff moters.
When you quarter the wheels dont offset them by 90 Because its not accurate. Normally wheels are offset by 45 so you dont stall with two pistons because they both can center in the piston and not receive enough steam to move.

I still can't believe they gave up on the power function system. It was simply the best. The building components were just great.
I mean for the powered up stuff I do have, losing the IR receiver for Bluetooth was a great move on Lego’s part. The only two things I miss are the extensions cords and a plug adapter/Stackability of outputs
And there were more possibilities in power functions than powered up like there were more motors for power functions, S, M, L and XL motors
We have to encourage Letbricks to keep developing rolling stock in various colours. Hoppers and Tankers galore.

@@ToledoRails that is so cool, welcome!
As I thought, we are doing it.
@@ToledoRails What size of custom wheels did you use for your big boy
That valve gear was INSANE

Very nicely done review, and once again refreshing to actually hear the opinion of the reviewer, not just a spineless listing of stats.

That’s cool. I’ve seen their stuff online and have been somewhat skeptical, but this video has removed my doubts.

Woah, this is the best Big Boy steam engine I have ever seen! Keep it up!

One more test that you could put this train through is seeing how many cars they can pull on a full battery before it fails
Trust me, this thing was built for a drag freight
I have no idea why but the “BIG BOI” at the start of the video made me laugh
nice drum and base. sure love the mix :3

Where did you get the 3d printed rods for the wheels? I would like to get som
Very interesting, thanks for sharing.

I mean if we’re nitpicking it there’s already a lot wrong with it as it is.
im tempted to buy it just for the rechargeable battery box and the good ol power function system that just feels better and controls better.
It’s honestly identical in terms of power output to actual power functions.
Atleast theres a knockoff lego big boy avaible, btw ive just bought the orient express and im currently waiting for it to get shipped
Does anyone have a link to the last song used? Couldn’t get enough of it.
Great video btw
I have one of the cheaper models. The big boy from Bluebrixx and I am happy about it.
How do I get just the sticker packet? Can you reply the link just for the stickers?
Americans, what's a sand dom? Here in the UK we have sand boxes. Are they the same or it's something else?
Same thing more or less. It's an external look with the sand "box" above the boiler, making it look like another dome on the locomotive.
@@ToledoRails Ah Thanks!👍🏻
That feels worth it of buying it

And I love the video because I was thinking about getting one
That's the first time hearing someone call the train 4,014. I've always heard it and figured the proper way was 40-14. Meh, each to their own I guess.
Do you think it would be better to put one of the wires that connect to the motor on one side of the sensor and have the light wire go to the other?
Gotta try this with a BuWizz motor!
What performance differences would there be with a BuWizz motor?

@ToledoRails gotcha ima just sort them by what takes up one brick space 2 bricks spaces excetra
How do you feel LetBricks compare to both Blue Brixx and Lego trains?
Awesome big boy
I do wish they made a coal burning version as well. Basically what 4014 looked like back in the 1940s and 1950s.

Was all the bags labeled in the USB instructions or was all bags supposed to be opened all at once?
All of the bags were meant to be opened up at once, there was no numbering system in place.
Thank you. 😁👍
