Bought my instructions on Rebrickable, built mine out of 100% genuine new LEGO plus 3D printed drive rods. Fabulous build, very cumbersome and slow running but makes a phenomenal display piece.
Did the instructions provide a parts file (i.e. one you can upload to bricklink) or did you have to search for every piece yourself? Also how much did the total thing cost? Thanks!
@@alexjankiewicz2006 Yes, the instructions included a file to upload the parts to your Bricklink Wanted list. I used all New condition pieces which drove the cost up a bit, and (as I usually do) I ordered lots more of the pieces than was required to add to my inventory of pieces. As such, hard for me to put a price on it but it would be in the neighborhood of 4-500 hundred dollars I would guess. You could save a bit by using used parts and probably not be able to tell the difference.
Planning on getting this kit then replacing the exterior bricks with Lego, I don’t have the patience to hunt down all the pieces, though I’ll probably custom make some cartridges for it based on the orient express design
I’ve always been a fan of Lego and this build is almost enough to make me want to get into Lego trains. Luckily, I already have 4014 in N scale, along with about $20k of N scale. However, if the eyes get any worse or the hands become shakier, I may have to reconsider…

That was a great build. BUT the four year old inside me is screaming "MAKE IT GO!!" I can't believe you spent all that time assembling a motored locomotive and didn't add a lap around the track.
Is that battery pack (2:50) rechargeable, or do you need to pull the tender apart to swap out AA's?? I don't have any Lego trains now, but I'm sure considering THIS!!
The battery pack in this set is rechargeable. Luckily the battery pack is also easily accessible. The tenders roof over the battery easily comes off, after which you have full access to the battery pack. -Marti (MorningStrummer)
I bought a set like this, but those exposed sides on the side aren't there, even came with two motors, tho the gears don't really want to work because of the weight I'm assuming

Do you know where is letbricks based?
China, takes a long time for them to ship stuff
The open studs on the sides make it seem unfinished, seeing everything else is covered and polished.
Noticed that too. Some tiles in that color would've helped a lot.
the open studs are there to make them look like firebox rivets. Look at the real engine and you'll see those rivets on the firebox
