I really wish Linda declined to play Sarah for Dark Fate. Her legacy is not as pristine, in the Terminator universe, as it once was. Hell even T3 is better than Dark Fate despite what a lot of critics say. At least T3 had a young adult John Connor trying to wrestle with the fact that he would be the last hope for man kind. The TX was even a more bad ass villain than the utterly bland Latino Rev 9.

The main issue I have with this film is the termination of John Connor. John Connor is one of the most important characters in the history of film and it was a really bad idea just to kill him off. Imagine if George Lucas killed off Luke Skywalker in The Empire Strikes Back. The Return of the Jedi would be a useless film. You can't kill off important characters in a film if you want to keep the franchise going. When I saw that opening scene where John gets killed I thought to myself: They just killed the legendary character John Connor and ousted him from the franchise like he didn't exist. However, I did love the action scenes, the character Grace, Mackenzie did a great job, and that's about it. One character and actions scenes doesn't make a movie great. It seems like they tried to make this film be on the level of Terminator 2 Judgement Day. and failed drastically. As you saw in the film they had references to T2. The playground scene at the end, the T-800 sacrificing himself at the end while Dani and Sarah stand above, and several other scenes.

The ego of Tim Miller and his decision to kill off John was bizarre. The CGI of flying, weightless characters, literally and figuratively, Carl the stay at home mom who's skin care routine avoids it rotting is comical, all added to a giant pile of poo I was initially excited for, talk about beating a dead horse.

bs, go back and watch Terminator Salvation, it's bloody awesome as it's filled with action, respects the lire, respects men and was a true sequel to T3. It showed love and respect to the first two films and was fast paced and exciting. An underated gem.

A tragic love story across time that made John as a product of that same tragedy. I do agree that T3 was largely unnecessary, as it got repetitive from T1 & T2

The first two films make sense, the Terminator is youthfully fantastic, but it also has its own core, it teaches not to give up (there is a hidden meaning), and in the second Terminator there is some kind of philosophy (a boy teaches a soulless machine commandments - do not kill, there is a paradox, there is some kind of maturity ), a lot can be discussed on this topic. The plot itself of the first and second parts is not a set of tricks, but the result of the mental work of a creative person, and only then tricks and all that. They are both created as finished works with happy endings and written as novellas. There is a spirit of creativity and experimentation. The rest of the parts seem to be created by managers. They use the main elements from the first two parts that are considered spectacular but the genre of the novel is lost, there is no thought. The essence of what was from the beginning is lost, those who make films based on comics about superheroes and mysticism took up the film. New robots look like demons and hybrids of people look like superheroes (this is the logic of managers - why come up with something new, because there are ready-made algorithms that have been tested and are successful) and you get the feeling that a shader from actors about the terminator is dressed on the frame of any movie from a series about superheroes. I don't want to see this. I would like to see another continuation - how the grown-up Connor, who became a senator, meets with technological progress (in the army they use robots instead of infantrymen, for example) The guys from Alan Musk's company are working on artificial intelligence, but for a different reason, this can be used as natural reasons for the appearance of Skynet. How does he deal with this in the Senate. To see his daughter whom Linda Hamelton's character was tying her shoelaces. the Future story doesn't make sense. If time travel work in the way that they are trying to make it work, then Humans and John Connor failed in the end. The future of Kyle didn't change. There should be another future where Kyle's future is the past. And another future to that and another. The fact that everything reminds the same in the future of Kyle before he was sent to 1980 clearly indicates that the machines won the war. John Connor was never a savior and the future was never changed. The Idea of time travel is bad and it needs fixing before you make another Terminator movie. if we ever make a time machine, we will not go to our past. Instead, we would travel to another parallel dimension a 1980 which is taking place at the same time than our present just in some other dimension we can't see. and anything you do there can't affect the things happening in your dimension. You are changing history only on them. Kyle Actually destroys the real Connor when he goes back to 1980. He literally makes love to Sarah and prevents the real Connor to be born. At some point John, the real John, was not Kyle's Son. Also the experiences of the Real John can't compare to the experiences of the new Connor. John Connor's Motivation is different from Kyle's son. You see John lived a happy life until the machines took over. He and his mother struggled to survive and Sarah Taught Connor how to fight. Kyle's son is a boy traumatize by the events happening in his life. He didn't get to live with his mom. She was never there for him. There were men coming and going. He is not just a different person but mentally he is different, the motivation is not the same. Also the Real Connor fought to survive. Kyle's son is protected. He is not fighting. He is protected. You are too important. You can't take risks. That's not building a future leader. that's building a b1tchass queen or king. Some dumbass that has nothing especial other than there is an imaginary importance to his existence, but in reality he is Probably not more important than the door man. John Connor saw peace and Happiness, love, and Fun before he saw the world going to sh1t. There is a reason to fight. Kayle's Son was never happy. Everything is negativity for him. He saw men coming and going in his mother's life. How can you be happy knowing that your mom is being bang by men just because they have something to teach you? Kyle's Son and John Connor are two different people. This is why John Connor is portrayed as a bitch boy in the other movies, a person who doesn't give a sh1t about life, especially in T3. That's exactly what you would expect from someone who has been dealt a bad hand in life. Time travel must be fixed before they continue with the Franchise.

While the original Terminator film came out in 1984 and takes place in 1984, Terminator 2 came out in 1991, but it takes place in 1994 or 1995. When the T-1000 arrives and looks at the computer in the police car, John Connor is apparently 10 years old in that film. Because this is so vague, T3 messes it up by saying that he was 13 years old in T2. Nice and confusing, but there is your daily dose of useless nerd information 🤓 Thanks for watching!
My takes (partially intersecting with yours) how to fix this story: - John Connor survives and becomes the new Informed Old Person, his mother's turmoil with time travel shennanigans should be over, Sarah needs a break. - REV9 should indeed utilize his ability to split more. They could have gave him "range" like a drone to how far split parts can go apart, might have explained why it works better in future with the fact that it uses frequencies old tech isn't good enough to reliably transfer - if they really want an old Terminator in then they need to use the "Split Dimensions" theory. You can't have your cake and eat it - Reasons for Grace being the way she is that would work for the setting- to explain why she is a cyborg they could have reasoned that cybernetics in base human wetware is more "trustworthy" than a reprogramed REV unit. The other thing is that I do agree that Grace's first contact should have been with a Connor not a random person. - Connor having a "Time traveler" Detector could be explained with either contacts or the strategic mind he has. - for the future to still be a nuked wasteland with robots the writters should have used the "Constants and Variables" thing (similar to Bioshock Infinite)- the constant of Terminator universe is the nuclear war and emergence of thinking machines, the variables are the resistance, types of robots, year of the end of the world. Buuuut then they would need to breace themselves for peopel screetching about fatalism

I'm very thankful for the existence of T2: Battle Across Time and Terminator Resistance, though I do enjoy Terminator Salvation for its originality and nods to its predecessors

I'm glad you were able to tackle this movie with out mentioning its wokeness but with facts alone. It's really hard to get behind Dani because John's unnecessary death like no matter what the apocalypse is coming in one from or another apparently. T2 had hope for the future but this film lacks it. Rev 9 is so similar to the TX with having liquid metal over endo metal skeleton and hacking things
Maybe this was really just a therapy project for James Cameron. It started with his lucid nightmare he chose to interpret and put on screen. Then just as the main characters defeated their fears in IT by belittling the creature of terror. James Cameron too neutered the unstoppable killer by making him a well mannered family man who styled drapes in his customers child's bedroom. No fear but what we make. The thing about the T-800 getting close to John in T2 is its actually explained. There’s a deleted scene were John and Sarah turn off his safety switch and that allows him to apply what he learns from humans. This in turn means he is in a way self aware himself. In dark fate its like he just got bored after his mission.

Rise of the Machines was terrible because they killed the main character off & started making the movies about John, when it was always Sarah's story.

I think most ppl just saw how crappy this film was because it was another in a line a "strong women go bam!", instead of strongly written characters who we cared about, you know, like T1, Aliens, Underworld, etc. We would've looked over the inconsistencies if we actually gave AF about ANY of these characters.

The first two films make sense, the Terminator is youthfully fantastic, but it also has its own core, it teaches not to give up (there is a hidden meaning), and in the second Terminator there is some kind of philosophy (a boy teaches a soulless machine commandments - do not kill, there is a paradox, there is some kind of maturity ), a lot can be discussed on this topic. The plot itself of the first and second parts is not a set of tricks, but the result of the mental work of a creative person, and only then tricks and all that. They are both created as finished works with happy endings and written as novellas. There is a spirit of creativity and experimentation. The rest of the parts seem to be created by managers. They use the main elements from the first two parts that are considered spectacular but the genre of the novel is lost, there is no thought. The essence of what was from the beginning is lost, those who make films based on comics about superheroes and mysticism took up the film. New robots look like demons and hybrids of people look like superheroes (this is the logic of managers - why come up with something new, because there are ready-made algorithms that have been tested and are successful) and you get the feeling that a shader from actors about the terminator is dressed on the frame of any movie from a series about superheroes. I don't want to see this. I would like to see another continuation - how the grown-up Connor, who became a senator, meets with technological progress (in the army they use robots instead of infantrymen, for example) The guys from Alan Musk's company are working on artificial intelligence, but for a different reason, this can be used as natural reasons for the appearance of Skynet. How does he deal with this in the Senate. To see his daughter whom Linda Hamelton's character was tying her shoelaces. Let the person whose DNA was used for the shells of the terminator appear, let Schwarzenegger play the person. Should be a novella again. written by a creative personality with a good ending. the Future story doesn't make sense. If time travel work in the way that they are trying to make it work, then Humans and John Connor failed in the end. The future of Kyle didn't change. There should be another future where Kyle's future is the past. And another future to that and another. The fact that everything reminds the same in the future of Kyle before he was sent to 1980 clearly indicates that the machines won the war. John Connor was never a savior and the future was never changed. The Idea of time travel is bad and it needs fixing before you make another Terminator movie. if we ever make a time machine, we will not go to our past. Instead, we would travel to another parallel dimension a 1980 which is taking place at the same time than our present just in some other dimension we can't see. and anything you do there can't affect the things happening in your dimension. You are changing history only on them. Kyle Actually destroys the real Connor when he goes back to 1980. He literally makes love to Sarah and prevents the real Connor to be born. At some point John, the real John, was not Kyle's Son. Also the experiences of the Real John can't compare to the experiences of the new Connor. John Connor's Motivation is different from Kyle's son. You see John lived a happy life until the machines took over. He and his mother struggled to survive and Sarah Taught Connor how to fight. Kyle's son is a boy traumatize by the events happening in his life. He didn't get to live with his mom. She was never there for him. There were men coming and going. He is not just a different person but mentally he is different, the motivation is not the same. Also the Real Connor fought to survive. Kyle's son is protected. He is not fighting. He is protected. You are too important. You can't take risks. That's not building a future leader. that's building a b1tchass queen or king. Some dumbass that has nothing especial other than there is an imaginary importance to his existence, but in reality he is Probably not more important than the door man. John Connor saw peace and Happiness, love, and Fun before he saw the world going to sh1t. There is a reason to fight. Kayle's Son was never happy. Everything is negativity for him. He saw men coming and going in his mother's life. How can you be happy knowing that your mom is being bang by men just because they have something to teach you? Kyle's Son and John Connor are two different people. This is why John Connor is portrayed as a bitch boy in the other movies, a person who doesn't give a sh1t about life, especially in T3. That's exactly what you would expect from someone who has been dealt a bad hand in life. Time travel must be fixed before they continue with the Franchise.
When Linda Hamilton gotten the script Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines she turn it down flat for many reasons mainly that her character arch was fulfilled in the last movie it’s very mind boggling that a actor who should know from a good or bad script would sign on to this mediocre project. Either she didn’t have the good sense or strapped for cash?

But she feels no PTSD over the brutal murder of her son. Sarah barely cares apparently because she eventually warms up to the killing machine that pulled the trigger... "Carl"

While the original Terminator film came out in 1984 and takes place in 1984, Terminator 2 came out in 1991, but it takes place in 1994 or 1995. When the T-1000 arrives and looks at the computer in the police car, John Connor is apparently 10 years old in that film.
Because this is so vague, T3 messes it up by saying that he was 13 years old in T2.

My takes (partially intersecting with yours) how to fix this story:
- John Connor survives and becomes the new Informed Old Person, his mother's turmoil with time travel shennanigans should be over, Sarah needs a break.
- REV9 should indeed utilize his ability to split more. They could have gave him "range" like a drone to how far split parts can go apart, might have explained why it works better in future with the fact that it uses frequencies old tech isn't good enough to reliably transfer
- if they really want an old Terminator in then they need to use the "Split Dimensions" theory. You can't have your cake and eat it
- Reasons for Grace being the way she is that would work for the setting- to explain why she is a cyborg they could have reasoned that cybernetics in base human wetware
is more "trustworthy" than a reprogramed REV unit.
The other thing is that I do agree that Grace's first contact should have been with a Connor not a random person.
- Connor having a "Time traveler" Detector could be explained with either contacts or the strategic mind he has.
- for the future to still be a nuked wasteland with robots the writters should have used the "Constants and Variables" thing (similar to Bioshock Infinite)- the constant of Terminator universe is the nuclear war and emergence of thinking machines, the variables are the resistance, types of robots, year of the end of the world. Buuuut then they would need to breace themselves for peopel screetching about fatalism
John was never as important as most people think he was. Sarah on the other hand is.

And in the idea I was writting I kinda decided for John to essentially inherit the importance, but as a mentor this time since he's no longer "the chosen one of the future"

I'm glad you were able to tackle this movie with out mentioning its wokeness but with facts alone. It's really hard to get behind Dani because John's unnecessary death like no matter what the apocalypse is coming in one from or another apparently. T2 had hope for the future but this film lacks it. Rev 9 is so similar to the TX with having liquid metal over endo metal skeleton and hacking things

Maybe this was really just a therapy project for James Cameron. It started with his lucid nightmare he chose to interpret and put on screen. Then just as the main characters defeated their fears in IT by belittling the creature of terror. James Cameron too neutered the unstoppable killer by making him a well mannered family man who styled drapes in his customers child's bedroom. No fear but what we make. Cameron wasn’t really there he was just there to use his name to get people to go to theaters he was more busy with avatar this was all miller and the 5 other writers on the story and a bad script by goyer all Cameron wants to do is get Linda and Arnold a big payday I think when they reboot the next one it will be better because gale Ann hurd has the other 50 percent of the rights and she will put James in place she did on the set of aliens

The thing about the T-800 getting close to John in T2 is its actually explained. There’s a deleted scene were John and Sarah turn off his safety switch and that allows him to apply what he learns from humans. This in turn means he is in a way self aware himself. In dark fate its like he just got bored after his mission.
I think it’s because he can’t self terminate he’d wait for more orders which wouldn’t come because skynet was erased still a plot hole though
