I also once texted this wrong number "hey its Artemis" Which is my real name. He texted back who is this. After a bit of chatting I figured out that his cat's name is Artemis and he was getting totally freaked out LOL

I once had a very old lady call my landline thinking she called her son. I knew she had dementia or something similar and stayed on the phone with her for 45 minutes letting her tell me stories until her son actually dropped by her house. she was worried as he was later than usual but called the wrong number. she was adorable

The guy who replied to the grandma about Thanksgiving actually did go over there, and basically became part of their family. Her husband passed away and he was there for her through that too. It was such a freakin wholesome thing.

My friend put a wrong number in when texting her boyfriend "I love you", the guy replied "I love you too, but who are you?"... That was over 10 years ago, the boyfriend is long gone, but we're still friends with the wrong number guy! 😂

I once SENT the message to a wrong number. I was feeling like crap, didn’t know my gf at the time had gotten a new number, so I just sent a message saying that I was in a Bad Mood. The person replied with ‘Hopefully me and Dolly can help!’ And I get a good dozen or so pics of a beautiful palomino horse and a trick rider. No idea who it was, but the pics of the horse did help!

It was a weekday --- it was after 4pm, I was on the platform in Los Angeles waiting for my train -- I got a random call from some number I didn't recognize (in this day and age, I hardly recognize my *own* number)... and the call went a little something like this...
*Caller:* Hey James, how's it going?
_[I _*_instantly_*_ put on my Late Night Radio DJ Barry White voice...]_
*Me:* Aww man, I'm beautiful -- life's beautiful... it's *SO* good to hear from you, how've *you* been?
*Caller:* Yeah, I'm doing good -- I hadn't heard from you in a while and I just wanted to say Hi!
*Me:* You know, it's kinda funny that I'd hear from you... because I've been thinking about you a LOT lately!
*Caller:* Really? About what?

I'll always remember that random call. I always troll wrong numbers -- but this one 'felt' good as opposed to the other calls with me punking the caller for trying to tell me a Corolla which was rented in my name was found abandoned on the side of the road in Texas, which also just so happened to be filled with drugs and cash...

I actually have a story about this. I was texting my cousin about our grandmother who wasn't doing well. Turns out I accidentally texted this really sweet lady from Texas named Ruby. She told me I had the wrong number but that she hoped all would be well. Months later, she texted Happy Easter and that she hoped my grandmother was doing well. Absolute sweetheart

I had a random number text me "happy belated birthday" and i said "it was in February, but thank you" [text was sent in May]. She was looking for a girl called Savannah and I told her she had the wrong number, but the text was still nice cause I don't have any friends and no one told me happy birthday when it happened.

I got a new number about ten years ago and started getting texts from a young girl whose grandma had previously had the number but had died. She would text about her day and how she missed her grandma. I texted back things like asking about her day and asked about her favorite memories of her grandma. After about two weeks, her mom realized what she was doing and stopped it. She texted this big apology. I told her it was my pleasure if I helped ease her little girl's pain.
I still think about that little girl every now and then.

I once had someone texting me 2yrs ago asking for an address verification on Thanksgiving night dinner. 30minutes later I asked if she found the address, she said no. So I showed my family the messages and we ended up inviting her over for Thanksgiving dinner that night. She is now a good friend to my family and I. ☺

My number used to belong to a guy named Jason. I'm assuming he has some health concerns because I get many calls from various doctors a week. He also owes money to Easy Home, has won a cruise, and has a dog who is over due for a vet visit. Also his uncle is super nice.

I met my husband by putting the wrong email server at the end of my ex-boyfriend’s email address. It stared as a “sorry, wrong email address” messages and we ended up writing back and forth for a few years as pen pals before deciding to date. Married for 16 wonderful years now! So yes, it happens!

And for anyone who hasn't seen it, you should go look up something like "wrong number grandma" and watch about how it all happened. They all became super close. But unfortunately, the Grandpa in this story passed away a few months back from Covid. Go send the Grandma some love if you can!!!♥️

That Thanksgiving story brought back some good memories! Several years ago, my son (he is one of 5) was in the Army, and had been deployed to Iraq (it was his second of 3 deployments there). On Thanksgiving that year my son surprised us by coming home to spend Thanksgiving with us, and he brought along one of his Army buddies who didn’t have any family to spend time with on Thanksgiving. Well, we always make a huge amount of food, so setting 2 more places at the table was no problem at all! We ALL were SO happy to have him home with us, even if it would only be a few days! It turned out to be one of our *BEST THANKSGIVINGS EVER!!* 🥰

I was contemplating my answer and trying to work out who it could be from, when I remembered it was a woman I had contacted from a classified ads site who I was buying some furniture from, and we still had to arrange a time for me to go and pick it up.

About the numbers: My dad payed a lot of money to get my mom a number as close as him, meaning, their numbers have only one number difference. This was about 20 years ago, they have changed operators multiple times, but they still have them :) My dad wanted to make sure, us kids would always get in touch with them and remember the numbers.

I once got a text from a student's father (Im a teacher) that was meant for his mistress saying he wanted to go down on her. Since it was inappropriate behaviour, I had to report it to my principal. We laughed hysterically about it and decided that it wasnt something that we needed to report and let it drop. He was probably embarrased enough as it was.
So, weird (and long ass) story... About 5 years ago I was at work one day when I received a call. I answered and a voice on the other end said "This is a collect call from _____ corrections center, will you accept the charges?" And I was like, NayNay-I didn't know anyone in prison, let alone halfway across the country in Chicago. I had gotten a new number like 8 months before this, and I had continually gotten phone calls for the previous guy, so I chalked it up to that, and didn't think anything as I went about my day. Well the calls didn't stop, over the next month I think I got like 8 or 9 of these calls. Finally they stopped. Maybe a month later, I get this long text from a random number. It said (and I'm paraphrasing) "Tony, I just wanted to let you know that I'm finally out of Prison, and I'm back in Utah. I wanted to let you know that I'm finally clean from drugs. I did what you said in your letters. I just want you to know that your letters kept me strong. I want to thank you for stepping in to be my substitute Dad when I was young, you were my friends Dad and you didn't have to do that. I hope you're well, Man. Hope to talk soon." I was like, well shit. I can't just not respond, I have to tell this guy that I'm not Tony, because Tony is obviously a kick ass dude and needs to hear how important he is to this guy. So I sent a text back and just asked "who are you looking for?" And he sent me the full guys name. I sent another text back and said "Hey, sorry, I'm not him. I've been getting calls for this guy since I got his old number. I hope that you find him, I have no doubt that he'll be proud of you for getting clean and staying strong, I know I'm a stranger but that takes hard work and courage, and I'm proud of you too! He sounds like he was an amazing influence in your life and I bet he'll be really excited for you to be out. Keep your head up man, I'm rooting for you"
The next week, I got another text. He said he hadn't cried in 5 years, but that my text made him cry. He said most people would have just sent a text back saying "wrong number", and left it at that, and that he was touched that a stranger would take the time to tell him he was doing good, and that they were proud of and rooting for him. I told him that I had family members that struggled with drug addiction, so I knew that what he'd accomplished was hard and that I hoped that he found Tony. He responded back that he had been desperately trying to find him with no luck. I asked him if he had looked for him on Facebook, and he responded that he didn't have internet and that to get on the internet would go against his parole and probation. So I was like, hey I'll look for him, because I'm always up for a mystery and a Lifetime reunion 🤷♀️. So I searched his name on Facebook, came up with a few guys who had this name. I screenshotted their profile pictures and texted them to this guy, seeing if he would identify the right one. He picked out the right guy. So I go to this guys wall and my thought was to just say "Hey, looking for you can you call me?" But when I start typing, it starts showing that I'm Tony! I was like WTF?! So I simply wrote "Hi!" And posted it. I got home from work that night and toldmy husband, and we had a good laugh. Apparently this guy had used his phone number for his account, and it somehow automatically kept him signed in with it. He said it was an easy fix, but I didn't wanna remove it until I could help this guy reunite with Tony, I was invested now. So I we the next week or so, I updated this guy's facebook with random stuff. Things like "I hope everyone's doing good!" I threw some cool memes on there. Just thinking this guy would realize something was up. One day I get on there to see if anything was up. Under one of the updates I had posted saying "Hope everyone is doing well!" One of his friends had commented "Tony?! WTF man, how are you here?!" And I thought, bingo. I searched the guys profile better, and found a few people I thought could be this guys daughters. I sent them messages to explain who I was-I knew it would be weird since it was saying I was Tony, but figured once they read the message they'd be like "haha!" After I sent the messages, I started going through the last 8 months on their walls, when I saw it.... Apparently, Tony had died the previous July! I was updating a dead guys Facebook!! I was mortified 😬 I sent a text to Aaron, said that I was so sorry to have to be the one to tell him, but that Tony had passed away the previous year. This guy was devastated! I didn't even know Tony, and I was upset. I told Aaron that I was sure that Tony was looking down on him, proud and cheering him on. He thanked me again for spending the time to hunt Tony down, and told me that it meant more than he could express. He asked if the name of the Cemetery was anywhere. I spent the next week trying to find out. I was able to find out that Tony was a decorated soldier. He was cremated, and his funeral was small but he received a full military send off. His family had sprinkled his ashes down some Utah river Tony spent a lot of time enjoying, that I can't remember the name of. Aaron thanked me again for finding out. About 3 months later, I sent him another text, just saying that I hoped he was still doing okay and staying clean. He responded, saying that he indeed was still clean and he was doing the work to make sure that he stayed clean, not just for himself but for Tony's memory and influence in his life. I went back onto Tony's Facebook one last time, screenshotted every picture of him there was that I could find, and sent them to Aaron. He sent me a text back and said that I had made him cry again, he didn't have any pictures of Tony and said he would cherish them. I ended up hooking him up with one of my Sisters, and they chatted for a while over the next year. Aaron stayed clean, found a good job. Over the next couple of years, I'd randomly send him a text, just encouraging things like "you've got this!" And "Stay strong!" I never heard back from Tony's Daughters. Aaron eventually made it to visit and pay his respects to Tony along the riverfront that he loved, and said he felt him there. Eventually my phone updated, and I somehow lost a shit ton of contacts, Aaron's included. I still to this day feel the power of a random text-you never know who you might help keep their heads above water with a kind word.
And I still shiver, but also now laugh about Tony updating his Facebook profile with Memes and messages from Heaven 🤣 I wish I could've been a fly on the wall when people saw those updates pop up 😂
That story is amazing. Good for you for being a kind and generous soul. You probably made a huge difference in this guy’s life when he really needed it

Lol that happened to me once. Got looped into a group chat of arguing family. I kept saying they had the wrong number and I didn't want to be a part of it. 😆 one of them told me " grow up, Gerry, you're a part of this family!" I'm a girl. I just let it play out till they finally realized I was an imposter 🤷♀️
