      Doctor please tell why my bppv vertigo disappeared suddenly after 8-10 days then came after 50-60 days..... I got around 5 march to 15 march 22 and now I m suffering from last 3 days....
      First time it happened in December ending, I did this exercise u showed in this video... in first time exercise my eyes were spinning a lot and I got relief after this exercise
      But now in march and in may , I have less vertigo but still vertigo happens and didn't go after doing this exercise.....
      Please tell what should I do....
      Is it viral infection in ear and to see ent specialist or due to some head related problem to see neurologist????

    • @karmatik9626
      @karmatik9626 4 місяці тому +3

      @@smile2life929 You can repeat the maneuver right away, there's no need to wait. If you're sure you did it right and it didn't work, then lie back down and repeat it IN THE OPPOSITE direction. Understand that this is a treatment, not a cure. Many people who self-treat for BPPV (like myself) have to do this once or twice a month. Stimulants like caffeine amplify the vertigo effect so reducing the amount of coffee and sodas will help too. Good luck!

      @@irianahernandez3532 I mean the first time I did it I was completely debilitated so I was willing to do anything. I did the maneuver 2-3 times and it definitely was a crystal that was in the canal because it resolved it. But I had been so disoriented it took a good nights sleep and a day to feel back to normal. It happened again several years later and then just last week. I think this last was was a crystal combined with allergies and increased pressure because this was a little different than the first 2 events. In fact when I laid back to begin the maneuver I immediately threw up. I say all that because it did come back again down the road (my assumption is because now I have an assortment of crystal’s that have been broken off that can become dislodged) BUT it did absolutely fix the problem.

    Very important to note the maneuver shown is for when the offending crystal is in your right ear. With me it’s always in my left; and then everything is reversed. You can Google on how to find out which. Basically it’s whichever side your head is pointing towards whenever you get dizzy.

      Simone Roncali actually if you are diagnosed which bppv this is only treatment. It has 80% cure rate in first try. Some may need more try if failed. Problem with self treatment is not every vertigo is cause by this. You have to do hallpike maneuver to check for latency, duration, fatigue, direction to differentiate from central vertigo. I lay down in the first position and my eyes immediately starting looking all over the place I thought I wouldn’t even be able to make it through this, but I also knew that was a good sign.

    I have to add my voice to all the others. I've had vertigo in the past and it usually went away by itself after a few horrible weeks. I tried the Epley Maneuver before from written instructions, but it never worked for me. I now realize that I did it completely wrong. This video, along with the clear explanation of WHY this simple maneuver works (for me the key was counting 30 seconds, which I didn't do before) is a spectacular example of a simple but effective activity that can solve so many problems. I felt absolutely horrible during this maneuver - almost threw up - but after a few minutes the feeling - and the vertigo - went away. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

    So grateful for this clear video and Dr Epley. Second time this has helped me in a year. Seems like the crystals can on rare occasions fall out of alignment when I do shoulder stand or plow position in yoga. Thanks to this doctor who produced the video, I don’t have to deprive myself of favorite health enhancing yoga positions as I know what to do now in case the crystals fall off. Dangerous and life limiting to have vertigo whatever the cause. May God bless the doctor who produced this... as well as Dr Epley.

      How bad was your vertigo and which position worked for you please?

    • @gjquito
      @gjquito 4 роки тому +8

      Hi Minnie. I had my first instance of vertigo about a year ago. That was quite bad. It persisted a couple of days and I was always hit by dizziness and instability whenever I stood up and walked. When I lay on bed, the room would rotate round and round in full 360 degrees -- the sensation was nothing short of physical and visual. Sometimes, I would just fall flat on the mat or bed due to lack of balance. Thankfully, I found this video on the Epley maneuver. tried the it three times with increasing degrees of exactitude, and suddenly, the vertigo disappeared and I could function well again.
      Re your question about which position.... The Epley maneuver is not just one position but a short series of four or so positions that should be done in the proper sequence, as demonstrated in the above video. You have to do the positions in sequence because that's how the dislodged "crystals" in the ear canal are eased back to where they should normally be. The Epley maneuver takes less than five minutes and very easy to do. The hardest part, which isn't really that hard, is trying to remember which position follows which and how long or short to hold it before going on to the next position.
      If I'm right, the vertigo occurred after I would do my daily yoga shoulder stand and rise up on my feet too fast. The second instance of vertigo was about two weeks ago. This time, it was not as severe. There was no room rotation, but dizziness and instability when getting up and walking. The vertigo didn't last that long because I already knew to go to this video and review the Epley maneuver. I did it a couple of times and it worked right away. I avoided doing the shoulder stand the next day but am now back to doing one of my favorite yoga positions every morning and every night before retiring.
      There are a number of videos on the Epley maneuver on UA-cam but I believe this one posted by Fauquier is clearest one... both on how it's done and in explaining the scientific reason why the maneuver works. But looking at some other videos can also help commit it to your short term memory as needed for doing the positions in sequence.
      Of course there are several causes of vertigo. But displaced ear crystals (BBPV, short for benign paroxysmal positional vertigo) is one of the most common causes, and this is where the Epley maneuver would work. Hope this helps.

    This worked for me!
    The thirty seconds during the first step of the maneuver is fairly nightmarish. You'll be dizzy as hell during that time but you have to keep your head in that lowered position. Don't bail! When the dizziness stops, stay there for 30 seconds more, then go on to the next step.
    The dizziness is kind of like the feeling you get when you throw up. It sucks when you're going through it (like it sucks when when you actually are vomiting) but the feeling afterward is so, so much better.

I woke up 3 mornings in a row with real fast back and forth eye movements (nystagmus), horrible bed-spins that lasted all day long, and I was nauseated for 72 hours and could barely eat. My doctor suggested I do Epley, but I was very skeptical. I did it for both ears, several times each side (vertigo was terrible while doing it) but the vertigo and the nausea have almost completely vanished 24 hours later. There is a very small residual vertigo remaining, maybe 5-10% of what I experienced over that 72 hour nightmare. Slept all day except for meals, rest did not help, my brain was experiencing a stress pain and I also had a stiff neck. Tuesday , Wednesday sick all day and continued sleeping a lot, felt slight relief in evenings. Thursday went to doc who told me to do this maneuver and prescribed serc. I took serc on the evening I didn’t feel it helped a lot. Doc also suggested a blood test to check for iron deficiency etc. I fasted for 12 hours and went to give blood and urine sample Friday morning. Had breakfast plus another dose of serc, did not feel relief and went to nap. Woke up and decided to try the maneuver , I felt the spinning stopped but still some dizziness and brain pain. Later in the day I had a neck massage and a Tylenol as my neck was sore, went for a drive( someone else drive) and came home feeling amazing. It’s been a few hours and I keep getting better. Waiting on blood test results and will repost in a few days my progress. Good luck to anyone going experiencing vertigo, hope you get relief!

    Thank you so much for this info. My wife was out flat on her face all day unable to move without extreme dizziness and vomiting. We did this maneuver about 7 hours ago and she is now sitting up in a chair feeling much better.

    I had a severe case of vertigo about 2 yrs ago. It's a pretty unpleasant condition to experience. It was so bad I almost fell over a couple of times, but was able to catch myself. I ended up going to the emergency room of my local hospital. After they gave me anti nausea meds, and an IV, I felt better, but told my friend about suffering vertigo. It was still there, just not as severe. He told me to try the the epley manuever, so I did and it worked! I was cured!

    I was very skeptical at first, but I did this maneuver before I went to sleep and the next day the dizziness was gone! Can’t believe it actually worked, I’m so happy.

    Thank you so much for this!
    Attention for anyone who has Vertigo and suspects it is BPPV: go in the description of this video and click on the link that says "Perform Dix-Hallpike to determine which side and what type of BPPV". Then use that video to find out what type of BPPV you have. In the description of that video, it'll tell you what exercises you can do for your specific type (also there's a link to help with your diagnosis). It's really important you find the correct type of BPPV to do the correct exercise.
    I originally used this video but it didn't work. Using the diagnosis video, I found out I have superior/anterior canal BPPV. I then did the related exercise and it did the trick! Good luck everyone!

    I had vertigo a few years ago - went to doctor. Testing and MRI done - nothing. I was discouraged and started research myself. Ran across the Epley maneuver - tried it and it worked! You would think the EENT would have told me to at least try this!

      +Calchick7 I'm in the same position. Spent a lot of time searching and got sent home with a "rest it out". Hasn't gone away so I had to do something myself. Glad it worked for you, I hope to get it right eventually.

    This was a lifesaver! I woke up with extreme vertigo and I couldn't even walk without running into a wall. I vomited several times due to motion sickness. One try with this method and I was cured! My husband said my eyes moved just like in the video. Thank you for posting this!

    I was diagnosed with BPPV about 10 years ago. This series of repositioning works for me, my therapist said once I return to sitting position it is best to keep head looking straight ahead, no turning or tipping. I was even given a foam neck brace and slept one night In a recliner. This give the crystal time to stick in its proper place.

    I would like to thank whoever is responsible for this video.
    I have just used this procedure for the second time in 6 years to relieve the symptoms associated with this type of vertigo and am pleased to say it has worked again.
    I would advise anyone who tries this to not give up if it does not work first time.
    I had to change position of the pillow and vary the time (to about 60 secs) and it worked after 5 attempts I think.
    I remember it did not work first time when I had it 6 years ago.

    I had bppv for 5 days. I followed this video on the 3rd day. I felt slightly better but didn’t go away. So I went to see my PCP. They recommended instead of turning your head right and left in the beginning like in the video , to do one side first. So example: turn your head left waiting the 30-60 seconds, then turning on your left side 30-60 seconds. L, then sitting up. If that didn’t help do your right side, repeat. When I did that I was cured right away. Doing my right side first didn’t work but once I did my left side. Omg a miracle. 😅😊

    This hit me day before yesterday when I was underneath my pickup installing a new gas tank. I thought I was having a stroke or something. Luckily for me, (not him) my father in law had this happen to him a couple of years ago, so I we figured out what it was pretty quickly. I did this a couple of times today but I haven't tested myself on the ground laying down yet, but I feel some better I think. I may have to have assistance with holding my head and counting. Thank you for sharing this video!!

    This is the best of the current videos I’ve found. The detail is important, especially the chin tuck in step four. It is very easy to do this process incorrectly resulting in limited success. If I follow the instructions to the letter, it works every time.
    I have been doing the Eppley maneuver for decades. Once I started using this video it eliminated the vertigo every time.

    • @bomeara1212
      @bomeara1212 Рік тому

      @@barryrichardson8513 sorry I didn’t see this until now. I don’t think it matters. If you get the direction correct you are done. If not try the other direction. The maneuver cannot create a problem done either way - even if you didn’t need to do it to begin with.
