Mustang Paint Job Disaster - Maisto Mustang Custom. In today's video I had a bit of a struggle while using some golf leaf in a cool paint job. I was able to recover luckily by trying something different. It's ended up looking pretty sweet at after a few ups and downs. Check it out!

Hello my friends, sorry I haven't been around to post. I took a few days to do some spring cleaning and then sh*t hit the fan. This build was quite frustrating but I think it turned out alright in the end. I'll be back tomorrow with a short video. Hope you had a good weekend! 🍻🍻👍👍
The build looks great! Forget the gold leaf! Woooo hoooo!
You nailed it tho! Sweet looking mustang
Looks great dude! I went all Gma and worried up about ya, 😅. Glad to see you back and ok.
Onion bun's...
The paint hob would look better on a Camaro
When something goes wrong- we ALL learn! Never hide your mistakes and experiments they are just as valuable as the successes. This actually turned out really sweet, those flames are fantastic !
Thanks bro!
Loved the little sizzle you put over the paint stripper, really made it feel super corosive!! Keep up the great work :)
Bacon sizzle hehehe
DR: "I'm itching to get this tape off, it's gonna look wild!"
Yeah, wild indeed. We all have off days, man. I feel you.
If want to maximize the broken leaf look, wad gold in ball and rub it on to the glue. It must be burnished a lot to avoid multiple layers and paint fail. stay well and thanks for sharing.
Think it would work with the imitation stuff?
@@DiecastResurrection the only real difference between real and fake is durability while handling and burnishing. Real is fragile.
@@DiecastResurrection save your scraps and make fake nuggets with gravel: and elmers:) neighborhood kids loved it.
The green over gold, without the flames, looked awesome
You made ' A ' Thoroughbred Steed out of what was Old Nag "Mister Ed". Even Wilbur would be proud!
Really like that you showed the first attempt and what went wrong, was still interesting to watch and loved the content. The final product with the diamond bur pattern looks amazing tho, that blue omg!
I love it when you screw up and able to bring home the gold in the end, so screw up more often.
That casting could be a great Funny Car project with some crazy pipes and a lot of decal work. Keep pushing the boundaries man.
Lot of effort, but it really showed in the end. Ba-yuti-ful piece!
Tough build but it turned out great! Nice to see I’m not the only one who has issues!🤣🤣
Real purdy! 👏👏👏👏👏... 🔥's turned out gorgeous! Trial and error is how you learn. 👍👍👍
EXCELENT RESTAURATION PURE SOLID GOLD CHROME PLATE THE LEGENDARY FORD MUSTANG HARDTOP (1964-1965) 👍👁️👁️😀😘😍😃👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
That paint job really did make that car look so much better!
I can't say enough how much I love your channel, been a sub for a few years now and was really scared when you stopped there for awhile. I would check every now and then to see if I unsubscribed some how. So glad your back and doing well. I've left comments before but wanted you to know how much I enjoy these. Much love from Tennessee bro.
Thanks for sticking around bro! 🍺
Thanks for sharing the ups and downs. The final result is stunning.
That looks really good, now with the custom paint the rest of the extra body goes together
"I don't like gold leaf. It's coarse and rough and irritating, and it gets everywhere." - Jimmy Skywalker
I'd love to see some brighter colors, like a pastel or something. A white and pink caddie would be hot.
Thats 1 Badass Mustang I Really Like The Flames And The Colour Choice It Turned Out Awesome And Keep Up The Good Work!!!!!!
Thanks for showing your failure, for lack of a better term, seeing the real process is very honest and I appreciate it. Missed you for a few days, glad you are still at it. By the way with you painting and re-imagining these cars/trucks a policy that every donor car must be stripped is a good choice.
Unique, and the results were amazing. Maybe doing the leafing in the spray booth area would capture the flakes. Or .. make it worse with the random flakes on the next job.
Don't give up on that first idea. Try it again, make it a challenge...
Still, this one turned out fantastic, it really popped when the clear coat went on.. nice
Awesome job brother. Teal is my wife's favorite color. Love the flames 🔥🔥🔥. Another Success 💪👍
ARE YOU KIDDING ME I REALLY DO LOVE IT ZINCHO 👍😘😍😀😂😃😘😁😂
I think the end result was pretty rad! Love a green paint job, and love a Mustang
I'm a bicycle guy and I follow a channel called Oldshovel. He uses his Cricut machine to create some of the most elaborate layered stencil work I've ever seen. The 'unmasking' always leaves me surprised.
Turned out better without the gold leafing. Not bulky in the corners or edges. Beautiful bud. A plant job worth the money
Wow that was one of your best so far! The look that the diamond bit gave to that flame was super cool!
Was getting worried about the times from your last video to this one, thought something unpleasant happened, but all worries are gone now that I got my resurrection fix
Like it. The paint really helped with the scale look of the model. You also made the best flames of any other painters on You Tube that work with small diecast cars. It would be nice to see bigger models completed also.
In my younger years I would have thrown that project in the trash, but now like you ,I would have said "live and learn"! Glad you seen it through! Turned out great! 👍
Flames came out shweet. Beautifully done
Great job and great save! For the Gold I would recommend Alclad's Gold with their matte clear over top before the stencils. Gold leaf is cool but as you explained very touchy. Love this resto work!
Sweet color..... Teal-balt. Great paint job, and I usually don't like flames.
Awesome save . That’s definitely a cool paint job . 👍👍😎
Nicely done. I loved the emerald green on that Mustang.
That colour you mixed contrasting with the deep black looks amazing. This is truly a painting-focused channel ! Great result 👍
She's a beaut Clark! On a side note I've always used the low tack vinyls when I build my custom models. Much larger scale and plastic but they always work so well! Keep up the great work!
Looks super Nice. The texture under the Flames realy makes it pop
That blue color is great!
This project did turn out well. Nice work.
Bruh... Looks super cool but also I agree with you about the mat paint. Real mat paint would also look sick and bring out the contrast between the flames so much more! Can't wait to see more of your content 👌🤓😎
love the paint job, classic flames with a twist, also the black sets off the green, good to go.
The Mustang looks good! Maybe next time you'll get another chance to use gold leaf on another casting that'll do much better.
Nice paint and wheels! Nice color and flames! Nice video and info-tainment!
im also glad that you showing your mistakes! Its very imortant
Very Good job!! The extra body panel overhang if you will almost disappears. Can't wait to see what you put up on eBay.
Love it, Love it, Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It actually look pretty bad ass the teal color with black flames !
I love the matte finishes. To bad u cleared coated it. Looks awesome though
Gold leaf... "stripper glitter traction compound... That ____ sticks to everything"
Do you ever think you would like to see your paint jobs done in full size?
yes I have used this kind of stencil in my videos, It thats a good tool to do flames, regards
I live the second go round, that teal was perfect with the black! Was really digging the green over the gold leaf, but the scone go round was definitely better! Nicely done, Buddy!
Nothing like some trial and error but this final reveal is soooo awesome. Another great custom!
Looks good! I don’t have a channel but I use my vinyl cutter for flames and a lot of other logos! Keep up the amazing work!!
Super sweet. Awesome looking!
I think that's my favorite! Awesome job!
Wow!! Great save on the paint job.
I liked that one part.
Hot damn! That is beautiful. Amazing work, man!
Oh hell yeah, Ill buy that for a dollar. LOL SICK paint job.
I like it! I like it! Though never be afraid to try something that (in the past) hasn't worked out - some things may change and so do you (your skills and how to deal with challenges).
THIS!!!!!
IS FIRE!!!!
The end result is nice looking
Disaster averted. Nice job. How about a matte black chevelle with copper leaf ss stripes, and copper leaf all the Crome. I think it would be bad ass.
absolutely fantastic love the flames
Beautiful! As always, Class A1 results! Well done! I really appreciate the learning tips as I hope to eventually do some of this myself! Thanx, really enjoy the channel!
Sorry for the other one but I love this one very sweet very nice work as always Lee
Thanks again!
Sweet. Love the color contrast
no apologies needed ever. I have this casting sitting on the bench. still not sure what to do but gotta say end result is awesome. I did like the matte black too. either way woulda looked sweet
That turned out great job
5:56 "well that little bi**h sure went on nicely..." 😎
nice build, details and paint job 👍👍
Great paint job 👍
very cool custom paintjob!🔥
That looks really nice 🤩
I'd love to see an experiment with the diamond burr pattern, but use a mix of red, orange and yellow candy layers for the flames, not necessarily overlapping them a lot... Just enough to give them a realistic flame blend of colors, so you'd see more red in some spots, orange in others, etc.
I think if anyone could pull off a paint job like that, it'd be you. I've never seen anyone on any of the other die-cast channels who can lay down paint like you. I'll put it this way... Your die-cast paint jobs look like custom automotive paint for show cars in my humble opinion.
ouuh, I whinced when I saw the paint and gold leaf being stripped off... would have loved to see how it would look.
but the end result is wicked cool, too. :) many would have left the black in matte finish, but I see what you mean, it's just the raw paint surface.
hey, I know why the hood is so rounded in the front: it's "Design!". :)
See I love a clean flame paint job on a car. Maybe it's the 10 year old mindset of flames mean faster. Really liked the emerald green color over the gold whether or not it turned out. Hell yeah man, tell you whut that a sweet stang ya got there.
Outstanding job!!
Very good job 👏👍🏾
that is so freaking hot bro awsome job
I cant wait to do this to my own cars 😍
Cool mustang
Turned out great in the end! I think that doing the main color of the car and then the gold and then the candy might be the way to go. Either way, loved the video and the car!
Great job.
Once again knockout work, wish I had the time to do that
Hi John from Ohio. That mustang turned out awesome
Thanks John👍
I wonder whether the gold leaf would've peeled up if you had clear coated before applying the tape flames? I loved the final result!
Great job 👍
Pretty freaking cool
That is so cool. Great job!
Have to say, first time I've actually heard the paint peeling. Gold leaf on lens, you tried using air blast ? The Teal was definitely the one for this car. Satin black would look good, but your choice to go with the gloss, totally the awesome 👍😎
Great one again!!!
Came out great!
Awesome work
I love it the way it turned out, Looks Beautiful.
I dig the printing engines for stock. I've often wondered if you could cast a plastic base in metal? It looks like you can??
