The Sad Psychology Of A Screeb | Destiny 2 The Final Shape

- Have you ever wondered why Screebs do the things they do? Me too, let's talk about it for 13 minutes and 19 seconds. I got overly curious as to what goes on inside the mind of a screeb, and I think I might have figured out what makes them tick (literally). This whole research process taught me a lot - and I hope you either learned something new or just had fun listening to me yap about screebs for nearly 15 minutes :).

Hello Internet! Welcome to Destiny theory! The show where you can really find out if a Subjugator could actually have children 😂
I'd like to suggest a substitution of telesto for graviton lance
Rhulk’s leg workout needs to happen.
In-game languages and why they make sense
Rhulk's Leg Workout is PEAK
we desperately need a national geographic documentary for all species in destiny
I wholeheartedly concur
Destiny: a Documentary. also this already sounds like a really fun series

HE DID IT, FINALY
YES
Ether is what Eliksni need to survive. Dark Ether is Darkness corrupted Ether that is used to resurrect dead Eliksni and Scorn.
"Destiny Decoded" or something like that could be cool since your looking beyond the game itself and more into irl stuff. Also maybe "Paracausal Paradoxes" , "Paracausal Phenomena", or "Paracausal Paradigms" to go with the ending
"Paracausal Casualized"?
"If you cant explain it just remember, its probably paracasual" better be the catchphrase of this series.
So here’s some corrections for when it comes to lore:
Fikrul was a result of Uldren wishing for him to not die which lead to riven corrupting the ether and bringing fikrul back. Because of the wish Fikrul is incapable of death.
As for the Screebs. They are a result of Scorn who have been resurrected too many times and end up being overflown with Dark ether. As well as their mind regressing too much from a result of being brought back to life too many times. Hence why they throw caution to the wind when they attack us and just kamikaze us.
This
also says they’re dregs, dregs have their arms docked at birth. i personally think they’re vandals but who cares, that’s just minuscule details
From what I know the reason Fikrul calls Uldren/Crow "Father" is because he was the first thing Fikrul saw when he was resurrected as a scorn.
Uldren was sympathetic towards the fallen because us guardians slaughtered them without mercy. Then one day, whether intentionally or not, he made a wish that Riven heard then granted after coming across the body of a fallen that was killed by a guardian. Of course there's always a catch with wish magic and thus the scorn were created.
Also, Fikrul may or may not have made wish himself all the way back in Forsaken.
In the mission where we fight and kill him in the Dreaming City, at one point he says: "I will pay any price to be there when you die."
Riven was very much still active at the time and may have interpreted those words as a wish and granted it, most likely twisting it too.
It's just a theory but maybe with Revenant we'll find out if it has any validity to it.
I'm pretty sure the lore stated he was still alive when he became a Scorn
@@ScreebOnARoombanah Fikrul’s immortality is cause of uldren’s wish, not him making a wish. “To keep him alive” when uldren found him dying. Thus no matter how much fikrul’s dies. He will be brought back.
@@ScreebOnARoombawell as we now know… fikrul understand that we are equal to him. Which is why he threaten to take away our loved ones instead.
@@zerotodona1495”When I become Kell of Kells I will find a way to hurt you…”
That is the coldest line I’ve heard from a character in Destiny 2 like we’ve heard people say they’ll try to END us, but he just wants to hurt us and ONLY us.
Taniks, Fikrul, and Savathun the undying trio of Mean Girls
Hey. Was fun meeting you in the Tower last night :)
See you again in Revenant!
Best study ever......now I'm waiting for the science behind a phalanx shield strike
Oh i got you dude, its simple.
Whenever you shoot a phalanx shield, it stores that energy for later use. So smacking someone with the shield redirects the stored energy into you!
@@zarax6826 nah I need to know how those make you ricochet from all over
@@voltplayer2.0rematch53 idk, man, maybe you need to stop oiling your armor or smth
@@zarax6826 then how can flex on these hunter mains
Physics major here. You're being shield bashed by a 6-800lb space rhino. The shield is a simple slab. I'm not sure precisely what the average guardian weighs, but an estimated 200 lbs on the high end. I'm pretty sure that legionaries use power armor of some variety, give the fluid on headshot. Comparatively, they should be able to ragdoll you by slapping you with a board. Makes perfect sense.
"But Destiny is a complex world. So if you can't explain it, it's probably paracausal." 🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥 Actually a fire outro
Next we gotta see the Science of Gunpowder Gamble
There was a developer quote from around forsaken’s launch where it was explained that Screebs are the result of a scorn being killed and reanimated so many times that it’s body and mind are mangled beyond any ability for intelligent thought. They’re just crawling, slithering monsters.
The idea being that scorn will come back but each resurrection degrades them further and further until all that’s left is a screeb
Not sure why bungie’s new narrative team changed it
Hey man thanks for checking it out! I've been a fan of your content for years :). I actually found that quote after making the video, not sure if they ret-conned it or not but it definitely offers an alternative explanation. Thanks for stopping by man!
@@Toadsmoothieabsolutely! Love your stuff, dude! Been binge watching for a few days
@@LateNightHalo I appreciate that man! I know Halo's your bread and butter but if you ever wanna get anything done on D2 or collab on something, my Discord DMs are always open! 🤙🏻
@@Toadsmoothie Alternatively, clutch could be because that's natural to Eido. She's clearly posing screebs as children, and the main familial sibling unit for Eliksni are clutches. So even if technically its 'siblings' are just screeb that were raised at the same time as it, she might still call them a clutch.
Their is no way you made it I’ve been waiting for this for so long
The video we didn't know we needed!!! Please, keep them coming. That displayed a lot of love for D2, and it was refreshing. Bravo 👏.
So this is what that screeb post in the discord was about. I never knew I needed this. Also I’ve began rewatching the end of your salvations edge raidlocke because it is just that good. And the dancing lmao. This is peak toadsmoothie. Can’t wait for 200k.
"Inside your Destiny" sounds pretty cool to me)
Also, loved this format! This community genuinely need more content like this... Tired of "This build cooks everything!" and "Dont miss this!" type of content.
Subbed to you because of your creativity, positivity and energy (also your friends are hella hilarious, one of the favourite aspects of you channel)
Dude, the black ops 2 multiplayer music at 7:00 just brought me back to my high school days, I havent heard that song in a minute
I actually love this idea for a series
My main theory is that they're in pain. So much so that because of the overflowing dark ether causing volatile fluorecesent blue cysts to grow that they just want out. They mostly explode on guardians cause they dont want to be shamed as cowards or worthless by other scorn, especially Daddy Fikrul.
This. This is what ive been craving. I didnt know i needed it, but this is..... this is a blessing onto us. I LOVE LEARNIN THIS TYPE OF STUFF!
Just so you know toad, early in the video at 3:10 you say you are unsure of how or when wish magic was used to create the scorn. Well the answer is that Uldren Sov, upon seeing the dying body of a fallen archon (Fikrul), “wished” for the archon to survive, thus creating an immortal Fikrul and the ability to create scorn. That’s super oversimplified, because there is a bit of Oryx and Mara Sov involved, but essentially it was the byproduct of Uldren and Rivens wish agreement to save a dying Fikrul. Why Uldren went out of his way to save a random Archon, I don’t know.
@@jacobbanks5006 oh that's awesome! Uldren stay accidentally wishing people back to life lmao. Thanks for explaining this!
Its not over yet im pretty sure I have heard that when Uldren had the darkness in him and being influenced by Riven the moment he made the wish Riven took some of the darkness in Uldren mixed it with the either Fikrul had and made dark either. The reason I think they see Uldren as a father is because the darkness in there Either originaly came form Uldren.@@Toadsmoothie
@@Barron_Fanaticcorrect! Cause he had taken/darkness energy in him from what happened in ttk.
@@Barron_Fanatic you are accurate! and as for *why* Uldren went out of his way, it was because that particular baron had been killed by Cayde-6, the most infamous of the Hunters. And Uldren already had several bones to pick with Guardians in general.
Hell yeah, can’t wait to see more of this series, love nerding about small stuff not previously thought about :D
I usually don't comment but that intro is INSANE !!!!
I actually learned something today. First I learn geometry in Verity before I enter high school geometry, and now this?! This is fricking awesome dude
This was incredible. I am glad you are doing more. The only note that I have is that when doing research, it may be more beneficial to look elsewhere than Wikipedia (I know that's a very school issue, but still). Looking forward to the continuation of this series.
Thank you so much for using my clip, Toadsmoothie!!!!!!!! -Hivebane.
6:54 ants and black ops 2 music, why does it go so hard
I not only support this kind of series, I also wouldn't mind seeing other games/worlds included in it. I have always loved and had a fascination with animals, enemies and general beastiaries in video games
This is already one of my favorite UA-cam series
Ok that was actually a really fun video, hope to see more of this series in the future Toad
A name for this new series: Sol Destiny
(reasoning below)
national geographic is obviously split into two words: national and geographic. national relates to borders or a region, and since the borders of destiny are the Sol system i think a good replacement for national would be: Sol.
geographic is more of a focus, but can also relates to the field of geography. having the second word be: Destiny does the same thing, destiny is a topic (i mean the running joke is you need a PHD in destinyology to play the game) but is also relating mainly to the story of the game. however just like 90% of national geographic’s content being about animals “Sol Destiny’s” content is about the factions, enemies, people, bosses, etc etc.
not to mention that Sol Destiny purposely sounds like “Soul Destiny” as the enemies (no matter how many we genocide) are the soul of destiny.
my submission for the name of the is series is: Sol Destiny. feel free to use it or don’t as you and the team see fit. but regardless i can’t wait to see what else this series cooks up
Thank you Toadski! I was waiting so long for someone to talk about mobs instead of major characters! This is officially my fave video from you.💚
This is the first thing I’ve seen from your channel and I’m here for it. I need more of this
Another common Toadsmoothie Banger. Would also be funny to dive into the mind of an overload fallen captain and why they teleport so much
4:37 yoooo I'm on TV!
Words can't describe how happy this makes me
The first destiny UA-cam video ive watched in over 3 weeks.
I really enjoyed this thank you!
Style points for RIVEN : Make A Wish homage to Borderlands boss arrival.
Affecting a single Attenborough sigh/gasp or identifiable noise of astonishment at the intro sets your tone.
This was a long time coming and I am so glad it has arrived! You're teacher would be so proud lol
Please do more of these 😂 they’re funny and I love the animations to it. Very entertaining and a great watch 😂
Excited for the series! Also cheerleader has been stuck in my head for a while now...
Was not expecting to see this, ngl. MOAR 🙏
Also, love the BO2 multiplayer soundtrack in the background!
This sounds like a brilliant new series. My knowledge in this game can only increase!
Destinology sounds like a true study of something 🤷🏻♂️
Screebs deserve their sad psychology
Love your videos and can't wait for more of this series! A possible name for the series - Chiaroscuro Chronicles: Destiny Decoded ( Chiaroscuro means to have both light and dark ). Or perhaps - Shower thoughts with Smoothie
This man, this is what im talking about... a National Destinyographic series, fantastic.
Also kudos for staying around and doubling down in something cool instead of running away from Destiny like so many youtubers have recently all because of some bad press without taking into account the new unreleased content which is supposed to be much different than we are used to. We are in a weird transitional position at the moment, give it time... stop discounting it simply because of some layoffs and bad press, we dont know the real reason behind it all so who knows it could be just whats needed for the company at large and thus the game.
I think a good pun name could be “No Time To Explain”
Love the video!
we neeeeeeed a David Attenborough voice for this. Also Bill Nye.
The only lesson I'm willing to listen until the end without falling asleep 🔥🔥🔥🔥
“And now, let us take a look into the lives of the____” my idea for your series. There was a UA-camr who did something similar with the alien races in Halo. I think his name was Spearhead or something similar? It’d be cool to have a series that is like a spiritual successor to that series with Destiny. Keep it up man :)
Hey man, excellent video! I specifically enjoyed the section analyzing real life examples of exploder enemies and the section about a bit of their culture. However I will say two things I noticed, one is how you mention that Screebs could be mutated Dregs that have taken too much Dark Ether. Based off of what we know of Eliksni culture, we can tell that Screebs most likely weren't made out of Dregs, since Dregs have had their bottom set of arms removed in a practice called docking, meanwhile the Screebs we see in game have all four of their limbs. My theory on what Screebs are made out of is that they've been made out of captured Fallen hatchlings. I think it's make more sense from a tactical standpoint that if you're going to make more Scorned, then you wouldn't make them out of Eliksni already missing limbs. This also would explain why there are baby Screebs, as perhaps these are freshly made and haven't had time to fully grow up into full sized Screebs yet, which would make sense why there's an abomination guarding them. As for my second thing I wanted to point out, you only named three of the five exploder type enemies. The two (and in my opinion most interesting) that you missed were the Supplicants and Fanatics of the Vex. I think it'd be interesting to see why you think there's two entirely separate types of exploders in the Vex. Another enemy that could be classified as an exploder enemy is the Husk from the new Dread faction. It'd be cool to see you take on them since it seems strange that the Husk looks like it has two bodies, the one that it tries to cut you up with and the one that emerges from it's former body to try and blow you up with. Overall I really enjoy this series so far, so keep up the good work :D
The UA-cam algorithm has blessed me with this gem
I noticed that Screeb, once they see the Guardian, will try to pursue them until either the Guardian leaves, or the Screeb is destroyed. If it knows where the Guardian is, but can't get to them, they have some interesting behavior. Instead of getting as close as possible, they run away, and try to find a spot where they can hide and resume the chase when the Guardian is accessible. (I noticed they probably use the same AI that most enemies do to find cover.)
If they are seen by the Guardian, while the Guardian is still inaccessible, they roar a bit, and scuttle away to find new cover. If nearby Screebs hear that roar, they also become aware of the Guardian, and they too scuttle away.
So, they seem to communicate, and have both imagination and forethought, so they can plan to hide from the Guardian, and attack later.
You need to make a D2 version of red vs blue with the animations you’re making I miss the days when I was waiting to watch every episode
This has to be the best destiny theory video because I actually understood bro (he makes it fun to listen)
Yt asked me what I thought about this video so I said it was informative and entertaining
When I first saw & fought the Screebs in the first mission for Forsaken, I knew then and there *they're sole mission in life is to kill a Guardian/Human no matter the cost.*
Also, Science of Destiny sounds like a dope mini-series and I hope the next video is as informative but not so overly-explosive as this one.
The mad man actually did it, bring on the d2 over analysis vids. Looking forward to more of this isn’t a one off
I can totally see a TV-esque series collaborating with other channels as 'Anchors' or Hosts or whatever. It may not be the series Guardians need. We may not even want it... But for the meme? Sounds like a lot of fun.
Id love to see more of this series
Cursed thrall are also a bit different as they aren't born but made through rituals, where when they open their arms they explode
this is such a cute idea for a series, and actually surprisingly informative!
how about 'paracausal investigators' for the series name?
Answer the important questions can’t wait for more of this series
This vid is sick next you should do the mind of weaver from the dread race
IVE PRAYED FOR DAYS LIKE THESE
A few things. First, great series I'm excited to see more. Second, abominations are made from dregs while screens come from vandals/captains; we know this from the number of arms. Third, dark ether is the growth hormone for the scorn, only Filtul and the Witness were able to resurrect fallen into scorn
Title idea: Discovering Destiny???
Dude that was freaking awesome. Bravo
0:29 wouldn’t it be hexapedal since it runs on all six limbs?
Im glad that this was made, it weirdly granted me such sertonin watching this
I like destiny discovery as a title for the series honestly
This is legendary
The smallest screeb lore tab was so sad
I’m so down for more of these🔥
This is my new favorite D2 series, yes please more! Lol
I’d love to see you explain the science behind paracausality and how it allows guardians to fly, get infinite ammo, come back from death, conjure storms from nothing, heal by killing things, etc simply by fudging some numbers in the fabric of reality!
The ability to change fate & mess with probability change the game on such a base level that its potential is basically limitless!
What was the outro music? Also awesome video!!
Ahhh yes, good good…
Now the anatomy of a Gladiators
...Was I the only one expecting it to open with Toad doing a David Attenborough impression? "Here we see a screeb in it's natural habitat."
Cool content idea! Make more!
Can’t believe Eido would throw shade at Glorbo’s son like that. SMH.
99% of screebs blow up before they kill a guardian. Dont be apart of the 99%, keep screebing
this is like peak autism video and i love it, the scorn are my personal favourite enemy race specifically due to them being very close to us guardian light bearers in particular as they are immortal and paracausal and act as a mirror image because they're fueled by darkness :D
i love how they've begun to mimic us in various ways with them even developing their own version of the crucible and honestly i hope we can form a friendly relationship or at least mutual non-aggression pact with them for at least a short time because i wanna hang out
Yes, yes, I would like more of this content please.
I saw you asking for videos of screens in the hidden disciples discord (amazing server by the way)
3:08 correction: dark ether is the corrupted form of regular ether, which the fallen need to survive. Dark ether, to my knowledge, is specifically avoided, not least for it's ability to turn dead fallen into scorn
That is such an amazing idea for a video. Well played.
Peak cinema
edit: THE TIER ZOO MUSIC LOL
From theory shall rise hypothesis
And from the past idea shall spawn my new favourite series
its nice seeing something that isnt doom posting, really good video
It's Probably Paracausal could make a really good series name, if not at least a series motto
I got an idea for this series "Toadscienctist's experiments on Destiny"
Love this kind of content
Bro made this REAL quick
Can’t wait for the Byf Collab

The mind of a screeb is a fascinating thing. Amazing video Toad now I will look at the screeb in a new way. Also how did Eido even learn of this story? Did Mithrax just hear this story while plundering the Sol system or rumors?

Getting screebs clips for this video was fun.(4 of a kind). LOOK TRAVELER I'M ON TV!
A few points of clariffication on the Elixni lore, they need Ether to survive, not Dark Ether, Dark Ether is what created the scorn. The Scorn came to be when Uldren found a dying Fikrul and wished to save him, Riven heard him and granted that wish, but twisted it, corrupting Fikrul's Ether into Dark Ether and giving him the power to do the same to others, thus creating the Scorn. Otherwise, really funny video.
