19.99 for the highest “micro transactions” at anything higher that’s a full blown transaction and a thing that you need to personally evaluate. If not for the yearly releases and me having played since I was 12 I wouldn’t play destiny nowadays. It’s more than 60 dollars to get fully into. Hell it’s more than 150. If I was a new player I wouldn’t even do it. I just go play other games that work the way I’m comfortable with. I used to not play warframe but the trading community fixes all problems I had with it. You shouldn’t have to spend a whole indie games price to do 1 thing in an online game
13:15 See, I like this. One of the most stand-out moments in the Season of Plunder was when Mithraxx's mother talked about the time when she and a group from their ketch had actually reached out to help humanity. I really hope in this Alternate time line humanity reached back, and there is a friendly Eliksni faction before Twilight Gap. P.S. I also noticed a distinct lack of Cabal in the trailers. Dont think I've seen any videos mentioning that.
I don’t think there’s actually a set time when they showed up but the Cabal were the last of the D1 enemies to arrive in Sol and got stuck in a the war over Mars with the Vex. I guess it’s possible they haven’t arrived by this point. But probably more likely they were just excluded from launch for production reasons.
Well, seeing how some Cabal have mini-guns and rockets (which can blind you), I think they’re only adding them when they are able to make the frame rate not die from brain damage and explode your phone.
@@thatstupidbee5522If I remember correctly, the cabal were a (relatively) recent arrival in the system during D1 vanilla. So there is no reason for them to be present in the timeline of this game, just like the taken, scorn and dread.
@@stevenkhan4203 didn’t we rebuild izanagis burden though? Also I find that the alternate time works really well. Have yall not paid attention to the lore? We are on byfs channel after all. Osiris stanched saint 14 from a different timeline. Mayra or the conductor are from a different timeline. The vex can somewhere see the future. Like an alternative timeline does seem lore accurate.
@@stevenkhan4203 The reason Ada and Black Armory was hidden for so long was because of the terrorizing of Warlords. Which in this alternate timeline the light bearers seem to unite under a speaker during the dark age, way earlier than the original timeline. It could be the guardians gain Ada and Black Armory's trust earlier in this timeline.
Definitely worried how confusing the lore and story will be for new players after Rising releases. Here’s the thing, we know it’s a different universe, but what if a new player likes the new universe and expects D2’s story to be a continuation of it? D2 story is already hard to get into because of vaulting, imagine liking the female Speaker just to learn she was never in the main game.
I don't even understand why they went for an alternate universe rather than an earlier point in the timeline, like what Division Resurgence is doing. Like you said, all it does it further complicate an already complicated story
If anything, why make it an alternate universe at all? The dark age/city age is pretty vague, you could do a lot of stuff. It just seems like a missed opportunity.
Destiny Prequel Gacha. They don't outright state it but they're dodgily saying you get multiple unique characters to play as and swap between to level up and gear up. It's FPS Genshin Impact with a Destiny skin.
And if this game is by god is a lot more stingy than genshin it'll need the destiny name just to survive. Genshin is genuinely a mistake. It makes all game Dev management realise how much profit gacha game have.
If it comes even near the quality of Genshin, I will be extremely happy. You can play the hell out of that game and very much enjoy it without spending a dime.
Don't care for gacha, let alone mobile games, but it might be over for me if Efrideet is playable 💀 Jokes aside, I'm more so looking forward to the day Bungie brings over some of the armors and weapons from this into D2.
I would rather chance myself with Genshin than whatever this game is (which I have for a good couple of years now). At least that game lives in its own bubble/franchise, with its own inbuilt lore, setting and characters. Both Destiny Rising and Diablo: Immortal took existing franchises in mainstream video gaming and (will, for the former) perverted it for the purpose of hyper-monetisation.
The only way I think I could handle this narratively is if they used Elsie as a framing device. "My name is Elsie Bray, every universe Ive travelled to has collapsed under the might of the witness. These are there stories..." Or something like that
I'd buy that, especially since it would be very funny to have this timeline be doomed from the start, and Elsie is just watching the entire thing go down like "what is even happening here- oh nevermind Eris went nuts time to go"
@@Nexius_ nope. they said they're adding a new rarity of weapon--mythic. You can earn new guns and i assume swap them out. But different hero's probably have different abilities.
The Destiny rising: Preview at 0:49 "Destiny rising takes place in an alternate Universe" its not a alternate timeline but a completely different universe.
seems both terms have been tossed around by people. But I agree that the stuff we're seeing here screams "outside of the parallel timelines of the main cannon."
@@MrNoble1997 If you knew the story of Monster Hunter Online then you'd realize why the different universes will probably never touch one another. Bungie licensed the IP, assets and pre-existing characters. Anything added onto Destiny proper after that deal has to be renegotiated with Tencent if it's to be in Destiny Rising. And conversely any new lore, characters, or models made by Tencent probably fall under their copyright, so if Bungie wanted to use them they would need to negotiate with Tencent for that. Expect a crossover Eververse armorset at some point, but it's unlikely the games will directly interact meaningfully.
Even if this is in an alternate timeline, many of Destiny's timelines were similar to each other until Beyond Light as suggested by Elsie. We know that Osiris also looked into similar timelines to the main timeline to save Saint. Maybe Destiny Rising's Dark Age is similar to our main timeline's Dark Age. So the lore we obtain from this game may have happened in one way or another in the main canon
Id say forget all of that. They’re going to do their own thing. There may be some similarities but don’t go in trying to use lore rules established in destiny proper
Universes have their own timelines, this game isn't a sperated timeline it's a completely different universe. They've already stated this is a different universe, not a different timeline from the same universe.
What I find weird is how in the trailers at least, Destiny Rising apart from a new weapon type is almost identical to the main game? But given what we’ve seen so far it takes place with new characters? Maybe in a different time? My biggest gripe with the main game’s story is that we’ve been exploring the same characters over and over for the last few years. Now we have Goth hunter girlfriend and Exo dreads Warlock to spice things up narratively.
It's a different timeline. All characters are presumably Netease made, along with the story, lore, and pay to win mechanics. My prediction is that this game is Bungie trying to do what Blizzard did, and make a mobile game that appeals to crowds in China and South Korea to rake in the money. They'll quietly sideline it while it still makes loads of profit and gains updates, and gradually branches away from the main game so we don't need to pay attention to it.
The alternative timeline does seem lore lore accurate to me considering that Osiris literally pulled saint 14 from a different timeline and the whole thing with maya in echos.
Oh yeah, there's no way this doesn't end up completely pay to win, with hidden shops that only open after you whale enough. I'm curious if they're going full gacha wit this one, as I'm pretty sure I heard that was the plan while back, but I can't source that. That said, bringin new players in with a goofy timeline that doesn't have any knowledge of the "prime" timeline is going to be a recipe for disaster... Sorry for all the impending mobile gamer lore comments, Byf xD
It's a Gacha game from Netease with a slapped on Destiny paint job, we absolutely know what to expect from that, so anyone going into this game looking for a morsel of anything else prepare yourself for disappointment
I'm just upset about how all out Net ease was allowed to go with their weapon designs and new supers and WISH we'd get that type of stuff in the actual game.
Wouldn't surprise me to see Bungie bring some stuff from Rising into D2 like armor ornaments and maybe some weapons. Betting it'll happen around the game's release date to help advertise it.
@@bestwaifu3852if we ever get a 3rd darkness subclass I bet bungie will yoink that scythe super. Since Micah 10 comments on nightmares being an untapped power of darkness. Nezarec is heavily associated with scythes. Actually, now that I think about it. Nezarec is also associated with void…makes me wonder if this scythe girl is related to him at all.
You just answered your own question lol think of all the movie remakes it is a way to minimize risk since at least some of the previous audience will try it. It’s soulless and kind of fucked up to torch your own brand just to hopefully make a dollar but it’s the way shit happens.
As a former player in the mainline game, I feel like the mention of “alternate” universe easy explains away the Eliksni in the city. I fear there won’t be a story to provide said context for the existence of this vendor, just that in this universe during this time there were defectors (and this is one of them).
The part that worries me is that it’s being made by netease, cause they recently were behind the latest visions of mana and the moment it came out they pretty much packed up and left by closing the studio behind it with literally zero notice
this hurts because a destiny game set in the dark age has always been my pipe dream game I know I'll never get... and the monkey's paw curls.. its a mobile game (and more than likely a gacha game too). I really do hope its good but I know how bad monetization is on mobile let alone how bad its gotten in D2, and even if its incredible its not on pc and is completely inaccessible to me
For those who want a brief TLDR for Josh's video on Diablo Immortal, here's my best crack at it. It is absolutely chocked full of various currencies, systems, and mechanics that are all in some way shape or form connected to the cash shop. At the time the game also kept some details hidden from you about how certain very specific systems worked. Also it was discovered later that it is literally impossible to make your character as strong as possible, even if you somehow find the time and ability, for free, you NEED to use it. I don't have much hope for this Destiny mobile game at all
Basically. The best case scenario is this game is a gacha. Not what monstrosity Diablo imortal is. And saying the best case scenario of a game being a gacha is genuinely the most depressing things I've said
@@peacechan4500I certainly agree. And it does not matter how "generous" a gacha game is - a gacha is still a gacha. But outright soft-locking players to force monetisation is abhorrent. Even some of the most popular gachas today (at least those I know of), despite all the powercreeping, do not pull of this stunt to such a degree.
Soon. Been working hard on another project that’s current redacted. I’ll be getting my Vesper content out soon but I want to make sure I know it all thoroughly before I dive in.

Imo destiny rising is either going to a Apex mobile where the mobile game is better than the base game Or Diablo immortal where its fundimentally bad and it requires you 10,000+ dollars to max your character out for ONE season. Im leaning the diablo route because seeing and hearing things. This maybe a warframe/genshin impact with destiny to it. Where your playing as "Named Women with Void Sythe Super" and not as your own unique character like in the base game.
The plastic Final Fantasy-esque art style just makes it look cheap. I know that’s just one of the many, MANY limits of making a game for the lowest common denominator of hardware but it automatically gives it that low polish eastern vibe, which is very offputting
@@markricheard1870 as hilarious as that is, this whole thing even further degrades the creative integrity of Destiny. It was already paper thin with all the crossover stuff, but the flimsy Chinese mobile game filter makes everything look 10x worse
9:17 the word "destiny" is used in both intros? Or original intro, for D2 - Ghost literally says "this is your destiny." And yes, it was very on-the-nose for the latter.
Hey Byf, I know you didn't have full access to information regarding the game, but needed to mention some info regarding the game's locations. The gameplay is not taking us beyond Earth, the icy location you IDed as Europa is really "the icy, ancient metro of Jiangshi" while the location with the Vex is very likely "the arid expanse of the Red Sea Rift." These are the only two locations the game appears planned to feature, aside from the hub location called Haven. This info can be gleaned from both some of the posts on the website, and in their ViDoc style video, where a whiteboard outlines which location has which enemies.
Well due to the already established multiple time-line lore we have gotten we might not be able to completely write of the lore of Mobile game. Though one thing I am interested in seeing in this game is how each Hero differs from eachother, since it has been said in lore that Guardians can manifest their light in different and unique ways. Something we don't get to explore in the main games proper due to programing and balancing issues.
Important thing to keep in mind: there are glyphs in the UI meant for a keyboard - specifically at 4:35, so it is very possible we will get a pc port/release post alpha
A destiny mobile game when the main game is in such a sorry state? I cannot see this going well Edit since people seem very confused about my thoughts on this. I used to be the biggest destiny fan there was. I played the pre release build of destiny 1 all the way back in 2012. I bought the game on release day. I played this series for more time than i think any other game. Destiny 2 when it first launched. I was so excited to have another game. Curse of osiris. Warmind. forsaken. All great… then things started being removed. Maps. Guns, activities, hell even whole planets were just stripped away without adding anything meaningful back to the games to warrent the removal of the older content. And year after year we saw decent content. But only more and more features were being removed out from under us. Choosing which strikes we wanted to play, which raids we want to play. Events being copy pasted from prior years. My point is that destiny 2 is absolutely not in its prime right now. And it got so bad. Me. A loremaster for destiny, a huge fangirl. Had to stop playing because i didnt enjoy the game anymore. So yes. I do think destiny is struggling right now. And theres an easy way to fix it. Add back all the cut content, (unless lore demands they be removed) add meaning back to playing the game. Patrols, bounties, more things to do that arent pvp or raids. Also remove the having to buy the most recent dlc to play nightfall ffs. And please bungie. Add back more random drop exotics. Give me a REASON to farm strikes and nightfalls. I already have every random drop exotic so i have nothing to grind for.
Not a big mobile gamer, I'm very skeptical about this. Part of me wishes that Bungie would do this alternate timeline story in a new Destiny game where we go back and learn about everything that went down before D1.
I'm excited. I've never played a mobile shooter, but I've often wanted to be able to play D2 on my phone when I just can't look at my computer anymore. If the monetization isn't too bad, I think it'll be like playable alternate universe Destiny fanfic. The lore won't bother me because it's an alternate timeline. Nothing in it impacts the lore of the main game. I'm here for it, at least enough to give it a try.
As someone who has played destiny rising for about 3 weeks here are some few things I’ve learned 1. Overall the game is good it has a lot of interesting features and honestly some cool activities that I wish destiny 2 adds. It’s a gacha game with mmo aspects you draw for characters and you can farm out weapons and materials to upgrade those character and weapons it’s a bit closer to a gacha than anything else. 2. Only some characters have story to them while others are sorta mystery’s but they might have story when the full game launches. 11 characters in total and you only get 3 for free, the entire draw system for new characters is actually one of the best within the gacha scene as it’s 60 draws then you get a guaranteed 5 star character this is way better than most other gacha games and it’s so easy to get the premium currency as the game gives it to you so much and free draws 3. The story is entirely different the only connection between this and destiny 2 is the character names don’t expect any crossover as so far there hasn’t been any Europa isn’t the ice map we see it’s a place on earth called jinshi the main story is somewhat short and is definitely a small taste of the full experience but it’s in short your character (the hunter with a sword) goes and tries to gather a gorilla faction of humans as they don’t want to join the iron lords, it ends with you doing a raid and stopping a fallen that has become pretty much a machine god but no siva 4. Guns and abilities are really fun and unique there is very little crossover between characters besides some using the same guns, one thing to mention is that characters are tied to specific guns and supers one example is kabr which can only use a scout and lmg. It’s easy to level up and get better guns as a lot of the luck is tied to perks as mythic guns have mythic perks which are better than other perks For people who like gachas and mobile games I’d suggest trying rising out when it comes out if you are a destiny fan expecting this to be similar or better than destiny 2 I’ll say that this game will disappoint you my friend is gonna stop playing once the alpha ends solely because it’s a gacha so again if you are expecting this to be similar to destiny you will be disappointed for those who just like the world of destiny it mainly has some cameos from characters but you won’t see any big events like twilight gap or the six fronts, one thing to mention is that it appears based on the story that crota is actually gonna be the big bad at lest for right now.
This timeline is actually what I want to explore after we defeat the witness, lots of legends and myth in earlier dark age that can be told in the story with us not playing as our guardian but controlling the characters such as Ikora, Zavala, Cayde, Eris, Drifter, in their own respected story, rather than continuing to the next saga till they figuring out the new Destiny or something.
They say that Destiny Rising is an alternate timeline, but isn't this still cannon? We have the dark timeline and Dares of Eternity which show that a multiverse is cannon, so I would expect this would be new stories paralleling our current universe.
Idk, destiny has historically not viewed grimoire or lore cards as hard canon. Main campaign story moments have gone against lore multiple times in the past. I’d say “canon” is what you actually play and hear while grimoire and lore cards kind of function as “canon until it’s not”
Destiny doesn't really have a clearly defined Marvel-style multiverse. Other universes are stated to exist in the "paraverse," but it's never made explicitly clear what those universes are like and how they differ from the "canon" one. It really just serves as an easy way to explain fanservice stuff like Master Chief's cryo pod, or Fortnite armor ornaments. Edited to add: I forgot to address Elsie, my bad. Every timeline Elsie lives through in her Groundhog Day loop seems to be nearly identical, only altered by her own presence and actions. Even our Guardians were nudged onto slightly different paths thanks to her in D1. I'm not sure I'd say her Dark Future from the lore book was a separate universe, as it's never made clear whether her time looping is leaving those dark histories behind, or if it's the same timeline being wiped clean and reset over and over and over.
I can see popular characters from the mobile game making there way over to destiny 2. But honestly we'll probably have a Byf video on them if they did come up even if they were only ever mentioned in lore tabs.
Since this Game takes place in an alternate timeline, let’s call it the “Silver Timeline” shall we? Also the fact that it’s set during the Iron Lords time (after Dark Age but before they fall) means this Game may get substantial SIVA content before actual Destiny does 😢 the same goes for a lot of neat stuff in this game. I want a Crossbow. I want a Void Scythe for Warlocks…will we ever get these things?
Clovis experimented on a Hybrid Vex Mind. His idea was taming a Vex Mind that he could basically use as a much more powerful AI. Experiment backfired and he locked the Vex Mind in lockdown. We blew the Morningstar, which breached the containment. The Vex Mind jumped to a new host... Atraks-1 body. After the raid events some House of Salvation eliksni fled from europa and tried to stablish themselves in the ruins of the station to live peacefully without the hassle of the Houses. The Atraks body controlled by the Vex Mind stalked the eliksni aboard and assimilated them one by one into their "collective". It could see everything they Saw, feel What they felt and think what they thought. Once all of the eliksni had become its limbs, Hearts and lungs, it forced them to construct the Anomaly to send a messagw through, following some diorams stored in its mind. Essentially the Vex Mind turned the entire faction of fallen we fight there into a Sort of Hivemind. It turned them mentally into Vex where individuality doesnt exist and the Only thing that matters is the driving will of the collective, of which the "White captain"//atraks body would count as the "Vex mind " in charge. Pretty alien and eldritch and shows the danger and horror of the Vex much better than Last season
They’ve explained in its in own universe separate from the main time line so it doesn’t matter what happens if they claim it’s not the same universe. I’m super hyped to be able to play a simplified verison of the game on the go! I really don’t have much expectations for this game.. we’ll see how they’ll make this destiny experience run on the phone.
I don't see why a story that completely diverges from our timeline would be a bad thing. I think a completely different universe would be interesting and could play out stories that we may never see in ours. I'd like to see a new universe that somehow crosses over into ours (so we can get some of those weapons or abilities)--and maybe have events or stories where we go into their timeline to help them (maybe explain how Elsie was able to do what she is able to do) I also don't see any Awoken anywhere..
Just before the void scythe there's a healing grenade, and prior to that the guardians are inside the vex network it kinda looks like one of the vex missions in the main game where you have to run through and activate symbols part of the vexcalibur exotic mission I believe?
I mean, for all the hate it gets, and rightfully so, Diablo Immortal was/is a huge success and has made money hand over fist. The amount of money they made and continue to make is quite simply outrageous.
For me personally, I feel like this game will, more or less, be like a PTR (public test realm) for Destiny. It seems like there are a lot of things that people have wanted in the main game in this one, such as crossbows, new supers, and even a new tier of loot. Maybe this will be the gateway to get stuff like that into the main game.
"A mobile game business is a monetization strategy developers use to drive revenue for their app. You can either choose to monetize through a one-time payment, in-app purchases (also known as microtransactions), or ad monetization" (IronSource, 2024, para. 1). Mobile games' revenue solely rests upon in-game purchases, usually pay-walls or pay-to-win purchases. Destiny Rising sounds cool to me but I'm worried that it will be full of 'microtransactions'. I don't think they would drown the game with advertisements so I bet they'll either create a subscription to access content or keep 2/3 of the content behind pay walls. Just my theory tho
I think this has a lot of potential to be really cool! I am also worried about micro transactions and it probably will be hard for new players to understand the difference between Mainline and mobile storylines, but to be honest I don't feel that the mobile players are going to be immediately hopping into the mainline game because they're there for the mobile experience cause that's what they enjoy. I expect more mainline players to try out the mobile experience just to see what's up. But who knows there's a lot of potential here
something that pissed me off about Diablo Immortal is that the mobile game got new classes and gameplay styles before the main game. they've already gotten two new classes before Diablo 4 even got one. it already looks like that's happening in Destiny
@@fallingupwards7974 it would make sense to make more effort in making new content that would hook the playerbase. Netease makes the effort to do new things but it maddens me to know there is more effort put in a mobile game than the base game since the base game is paying Nickel and dime for arguably less new mechanics and content. Heck weapons from sunset content are being resold to us
@@davidlanceescandor1310 what we’re getting at is not that these classes shouldn’t be in immortal, Infact introducing them in immortal is a good way to keep eyes on the game, but that these classes should also be implemented in Diablo 4. My argument for the vampire class is because they had a whole dlc/season dedicated to the vampire enemy faction in 4.
My biggest fear is mobile game envy. It hurts to see and get excited about new Destiny content, but have it not actually be in the main game I’ve already been playing. This whole release just makes me wish for a more inspired main game.
Since it is in a different universe, I would laugh if with all the alternate universe shenanigans we see in destiny, if we see one game at least reference the other's existence
I'm cautiously optimistic. It definitely looks better than I expected and I've kinda lost faith in Bungie's story direction ever since Lightfall. Keen to see if another studio can do a better job. Of course the issue is that it's on mobile so that'll probably stop me from actually playing it, but I'll still peep an eye in.
I have zero faith in Bungie absolutely zero Faith actually it's negative faith. Thank you Byf for your lore videos. You helped us all sort of (not your fault) understand the lore of Destiny. Thank you so much.
Man, I rather have this for D2 then mobile. I like the weapons designs and don't see why they can't be put in D2. Seriously though, I don't know many people who like to play games on the phone, never mind have time to. Cause when you do have time you're either resting or you're at you console/PC. What I'm curious to see is how horrendous the Microtransactions are
I know Vesper's Host is going to be covered at some point, but perhaps this eldritch presence in Heresy could be linked to whatever is on the other side of the portal.
As far as lore is considered in this timeline, I would LOVE to see new enemy types. How about fighting exos that are hijacked by a vex mastermind that planned an invasion of the deep stone crypt? Or maybe we'll finally go to Fundament to take on the krill? Maybe Siva is once again apparent and they're taking over the cabal? Stuff like that sounds so interesting to me!
The only thing I bring up against the argument that Destiny Rising will have no effect on the Mainline story is simply Saint-14 and Elsie Bray. Saint-14 or at least the current iteration of Saint within the game IS from an alternate timeline and this is confirmed by the Echoes storyline just based on the difference of memory. Elsie Bray is also narratively known to have experienced alternative timelines, specifically where we lost to the Witness or the Darkness, BUT the point of this being that alternate timelines CAN & HAVE interacted with our timeline before. So with that being said, Destiny Rising may have SOME implications into the mainline game just based on the precedent of alternate timelines having effected our timeline before
Yeah it may, but I wouldn't be hoping for anything major Elsies timelines looped on the day when Cayde became the hunter vanguard, which is after Rising and every of her timelines are the same to that point With Saint, if he is in fact "not our Saint" that would mean he's a part of a vex simulation and i'd not like to see entire spinoff game being canon as the vex simulating alternative dark age for fun
Mobile games are almost always pay-to-win BS. Anyone who has ever played a mobile game knows how bad it is. You may enjoy this game is you have a couple hundred dollars of disposable income to pump into the game each month. They will charge you for everything. After a free couple daily strikes…. Pull out that credit card. Want to try that new character without spending a month grinding, break out $20-$40 bucks. It’s truly awful. I don’t see how they could possibly make a Destiny mobile game without falling into the disgusting monetization trash like Byf is talking about. If you think monetization is bad in D2…. You are in for an awful surprise when it comes to this game. 4:41 they did mention monetization would be different in the alpha than the full release which is obvious. They want people to buy into the gameplay and then slap the bill on them after they decide they like it.
Not to distract, however I’ve been curious if you [My name is Byf] might be knowledgeable on Destiny currency lore and its implications. I’ve got a bit of a ramble and I’m unsure where my memory or misunderstanding may have gone astray. So… Glimmer. It’s the primary currency. I’m making the assumption unless otherwise noted that coins, tokens, shards, prisms, and cores of various types are all re-manifestations of Glimmer. Further assuming that these extra-glimmer items are based on the same or similar code that Cryptarchs use to decode engrams. This could mean that Cryptarchs are essentially banker-monks that can decode and re-manifest Glimmer on top of their goal of being to find and decode - perhaps even create - engrams. This could mean that Engrams are by extension able to be created by anyone who knows the code they are looking for and has the requisite quantity of glimmer-matter. If decoding is reverse engineered to discover coding or furthermore if a Guardian could learn any code, then in theory they could recall any item they have ever collected and taken apart. There is also deeper potential lore things if I can prove that glimmer is Light-matter. The Traveler’s Light permeated everything during the Golden Age. Light is the Material. My thinking is that Glimmer is little itty bitty sparks of pure light, minuscule things to be shaped by those who can. That’s why there is a cap. Guardians have what I can only assume is an astronomical cap on what they can “hold”. Lightless folk require chests and containers to hold it, where Lightbearers can just absorb it. Note as well the ability of Glimmer to be mined. Fallen Public Events are proof enough of that. I’ll stop the ramble here before it gets too far.
Byf…not gonna lie man when you said you didn’t wanna kill the hype or however you phrased it, you made me chuckle. As far as I’ve seen, there is ZERO hype. Maybe story and lore…okay. But the fact that this game is a mobile game and it’s getting significantly cooler stuff than we get in the main game is a COMPLETE buzzkill. No one was asking for this either. This has me very very worried.
Destiny fans should honestly be PRAYING this succeeds. Bungie has one source of income right now, and that's D2. Marathon is still in development, and isn't making any money. Funding the continued development of both D2 and Marathon on Destiny 2 sales alone has proven to be impossible. If you want Destiny 2 to get better, this is how we get there. It's like Porsche in the 90s. ALL they had for sale were sports cars. Sports cars have limited appeal to the masses. They were NOT doing well financially. Enter the Porsche Cayenned. Enthusiasts were OUTRAGED that such a storied brand would stoop so low as to make a rich person's grocery getter. But you know what? It sold. A LOT. And now Porsche is doing better than ever, and has been able to continue making the cool sports cars that enthusiasts love to this day.
I feel like, especially with the name "Destiny Rising" they really should've just made the game a Prequel to Destiny 1 without a specific and set date, and explored mostly new places, even if they're reusing assets or something, and made it actual canon. Any interest I did have in a game like this, is now completely gone because I know, compared to the actual timeline of the games, it's complete bullshit.
I think with the Eliksni recently having lost their own homeworld of Riis, it's not impossible that there would be humans sympathetic to them. The Warlords were also arguably a threat, being known for their cruelty and hostility, even against other humans. My understanding is that the major social area with the Traveler and tree of silver wings is not the last city, but perhaps the roots or beginnings of it. I also think its entirely possible the Dark Age lore isn't the same in this universe. If their goal is creative liberty to tell different stories, I would assume the canon of the main universe need not necessarily apply.
my concern is for the new players that will inevitably join the main game. we as veterans have a responsibility to shepherd any that come, meaning if this game is a smash hit and brings hoards of newbies in we are going to be very busy. my fear is that they will be overwhelmed quickly by the complexity of the game. Bungie needs, NEEDS to fix it's new player experience ASAP and to streamline things or else they will drive away whatever new players come to the main game from rising
It feels weird, it’s both an alternate universe with some reoccurring things as the original like Final Fantasy, yet also covering content in a time period he haven’t explored in D1/D2? They can’t seem to commit to either extreme. Hell, maybe this was intended as a prequel at first and those plans fell flat.
Im not gonna be a hater bc theyre making a mobile game i have hope for bungie. They are putting their best effort to bring destiny back to where it was, and i appreciate that. Destiny was and still is a great game, theyll get over this. I think this game has potential. It looks interesting like the places, loot, and the characters. This is a good chance to expand the universe even more and maybe add some characters from the lore that we have not seen in-game before and interact with them for the first time.
I think it looks pretty good well better than I expected it I actually did go into it with a negative mindset and actually left kinda surprised, and by that I mostly mean seeing how the game plays and seeing some things I would've loved to see in destiny 2. A new rarity type is awesome, a lot of the "supers" or whatever looked amazing especially the scythe chick. A couple other things I'm not thinking of but it kinda made me salty its not in D2 haha
I mean I they stated how there were no classes at this time, and the battle of 6 fronts is where the titans earned their banner, so what if instead of a battle there was a peace treaty between them?
I'm glad that this game is non-canonical because then I don't feel like I'm missing out by skipping this game. I am curious as to why kind of story they do end up telling, but Byf could be right that the quality could just be D1 levels of simplistic with minimal oversight from the Bungie writing team. But yeah, this game SCREAMS Diablo Immortal, and very well will have its monetization practices.
Tbf you shouldn’t be worried about the lore being different as it’s alternate timeline which means different not linked just focus on what lore you want to
With alt timelines bungie should try the "what if" strategy. What if the house of wolves over powered the Reef. What if the iron lords contained and escaped the siva chamber. How the story would've changed. 🙃
Diablo immortal takes place between Diablo 2 and 3, it follows the aftermath of the destruction of the mount Ariat and the shattering of the World Stone
CAN WE PLEASE STOP CALLING THEM "MIRCOTRANSACTIONS"? $19.99-$99.99 IS NOT "MICRO".
I’d argue anything over $4.99 or $9.99 isn’t micro anymore
doesn't matter. that's the nomenclature.
At this point, I think we can just call it "monetization". Or "over-monetization".
Dominations (mobile game) has transactions like this and I always wonder who is paying this!?
I saw “Alternate Timeline” and immediately thought of how the Halo Show handled an “Alternate Timeline”.
Heh same here no thx

@@deKahedronabsolutely.
The factions we fought in D1 were just scouts, once the Red Legion and Empire arrived, we were totally unprepared
The Cabal were mostly localized to Mars early on, so if we do encounter them in this game, it probably won't be in the areas they've shown.
"It's an alternate timeline"
"Oh really? Why?"
"Waifu Speaker"
"Oh yeah"
Lets not forget Izanagis just... being there. Despite not showing up until Ada does.
Improvement imo.
I'm a lifelong anime fan. I played Destiny for 8+ years. Anime pandering in a Destiny spinoff sounds super not good.
@@stevenkhan4203 didn’t we rebuild izanagis burden though? Also I find that the alternate time works really well. Have yall not paid attention to the lore? We are on byfs channel after all.
@@Forcer69 then new players need a mallet over the head, franchise is 10 yrs old
I don't even understand why they went for an alternate universe rather than an earlier point in the timeline, like what Division Resurgence is doing. Like you said, all it does it further complicate an already complicated story
If anything, why make it an alternate universe at all? The dark age/city age is pretty vague, you could do a lot of stuff. It just seems like a missed opportunity.

I believe we’ve seen fallen captains have a straighter posture, especially the bigger ones. First that comes to mind is Rahn

I was actually more surprised seeing a Fallen in nice clothes, and not wearing kit-bashed gear or tattered scraps.
Destiny Prequel Gacha. They don't outright state it but they're dodgily saying you get multiple unique characters to play as and swap between to level up and gear up.
It's FPS Genshin Impact with a Destiny skin.
This. NetEase made their own game and managed to shoehorn it into the Destiny franchise.
Don't care for gacha, let alone mobile games, but it might be over for me if Efrideet is playable 💀
Jokes aside, I'm more so looking forward to the day Bungie brings over some of the armors and weapons from this into D2.
These are there stories..." Or something like that
(Law and Order dun dun)
This is exactly what I thought when they said "alternate universe "
would have worked if it werent for the fact that her loops only start after cayde becomes a vanguard, well after the dark age and into the city age
I'd buy that, especially since it would be very funny to have this timeline be doomed from the start, and Elsie is just watching the entire thing go down like "what is even happening here- oh nevermind Eris went nuts time to go"
Or just The Nine/Starhorse
Y’all noticed that the Supers require required items/weapons instead of manifesting it with light?

So basically, throwing shit on the wall to see what sticks. Or in this case, pumping out stories to see what bungie might adopt into the main lore

3:31 wait a second. It’s literally me by the same company that made immortal? Holy crap we’re screwed. 😢
Worst part is people will still throw money at it. I absolutely hate mobile gamers
It's an alternate timeline from what NetEase said.
It's a different timeline. All characters are presumably Netease made, along with the story, lore, and pay to win mechanics.
My prediction is that this game is Bungie trying to do what Blizzard did, and make a mobile game that appeals to crowds in China and South Korea to rake in the money. They'll quietly sideline it while it still makes loads of profit and gains updates, and gradually branches away from the main game so we don't need to pay attention to it.
they look like fortnite characters...
@sauceinmyface9302 tbh? I'm okay with this. Let them fund the bigger projects and I'll just pretend this doesn't exist 😂
Not me lol I had enough of some gacha games this ain't ending well for whoever plays
I'm just upset about how all out Net ease was allowed to go with their weapon designs and new supers and WISH we'd get that type of stuff in the actual game.

I don’t get what the point of it being a destiny game if it’s in a different universe other then brand recognition
They just wanted a brand name to boost popularity.
And saying the best case scenario of a game being a gacha is genuinely the most depressing things I've said
@@peacechan4500 I'd be okay with that, though Gachas can also be pretty heavily monetized so I'm still worried.
@@peacechan4500I certainly agree. And it does not matter how "generous" a gacha game is - a gacha is still a gacha.

It doesn't, this is mainly targeting mobile players, players that have never play Destiny before.
I would rather them add this content and explore these ideas in the mainline game that many of us already own and play
It’s especially frustrating to me cause I love the iron lord/medieval aesthetic and wish we got more of it on destiny 2
Knowing that the witness inevitably ends up cooking this timeline makes me chuckle a bit 😅
A destiny mobile game when the main game is in such a sorry state? I cannot see this going well
Edit since people seem very confused about my thoughts on this.

The Fallen Vendor has a title of Enforcer. Maybe this relates to the battle of Six Fronts and they are negotiating on it?
As someone who has played destiny rising for about 3 weeks here are some few things I’ve learned
11 characters in total and you only get 3 for free, the entire draw system for new characters is actually one of the best within the gacha scene as it’s 60 draws then you get a guaranteed 5 star character this is way better than most other gacha games and it’s so easy to get the premium currency as the game gives it to you so much and free draws
3. The story is entirely different the only connection between this and destiny 2 is the character names don’t expect any crossover as so far there hasn’t been any Europa isn’t the ice map we see it’s a place on earth called jinshi the main story is somewhat short and is definitely a small taste of the full experience but it’s in short your character (the hunter with a sword) goes and tries to gather a gorilla faction of humans as they don’t want to join the iron lords, it ends with you doing a raid and stopping a fallen that has become pretty much a machine god but no siva
4. Guns and abilities are really fun and unique there is very little crossover between characters besides some using the same guns, one thing to mention is that characters are tied to specific guns and supers one example is kabr which can only use a scout and lmg. It’s easy to level up and get better guns as a lot of the luck is tied to perks as mythic guns have mythic perks which are better than other perks
For people who like gachas and mobile games I’d suggest trying rising out when it comes out if you are a destiny fan expecting this to be similar or better than destiny 2 I’ll say that this game will disappoint you my friend is gonna stop playing once the alpha ends solely because it’s a gacha so again if you are expecting this to be similar to destiny you will be disappointed for those who just like the world of destiny it mainly has some cameos from characters but you won’t see any big events like twilight gap or the six fronts, one thing to mention is that it appears based on the story that crota is actually gonna be the big bad at lest for right now.
30 fps: My death was greatly exagerated
I'm not sure I'd say her Dark Future from the lore book was a separate universe, as it's never made clear whether her time looping is leaving those dark histories behind, or if it's the same timeline being wiped clean and reset over and over and over.
it's an alternate canon if you will
It would have its own unique sub-canon if the words never intersect or interact.
no. this slop shouldn't be considered canon
If going to make it dirty money and we get destiny 3 that it we got no choice to deal with it

Curious as to why there are Vex Locked away inside of those Pods. Can see them in encounter 2.
I'd like to see a new universe that somehow crosses over into ours (so we can get some of those weapons or abilities)--and maybe have events or stories where we go into their timeline to help them (maybe explain how Elsie was able to do what she is able to do)
I also don't see any Awoken anywhere..
BYF, MAKE A VIDEO ABOUT VESPERS HOST AND MY LIFE IS YOURS!
I certainly hope so. This is my reaction to your video title.
But who knows there's a lot of potential here
The Flower game between the Gardener and Winower has gone beyond the multiverse of Destiny 😮
something that pissed me off about Diablo Immortal is that the mobile game got new classes and gameplay styles before the main game. they've already gotten two new classes before Diablo 4 even got one. it already looks like that's happening in Destiny
@@fallingupwards7974 that vampire class should totally be in 4
@@FoehnAlkaiser and the storm warrior class that came after it
@@fallingupwards7974 it would make sense to make more effort in making new content that would hook the playerbase.
Hope the frame rate will not suffer, looking forward to this
Weapon models and armors are cool in this game It would be sweet if we could get something different like those in the base game
I was genuinely hoping that It would take place in the Elsie Bray future, oh well my heart is crushed
"Notice me my Witness!"
Real shit, thankyou Byf, you have gave me a lot in my life. It's helped me make it through some really hard times.
I have zero faith in Bungie absolutely zero Faith actually it's negative faith.
Thank you Byf for your lore videos. You helped us all sort of (not your fault) understand the lore of Destiny. Thank you so much.
I'm carefully intrigued and somewhat optimistic.
Definitely got to wait and see. If it’s good we have options if it’s bad well we still have the main game.

Lol that's litterally how I felt about the Halo TV show. But I'm starting to see a nostalgic pattern.
So with that being said, Destiny Rising may have SOME implications into the mainline game just based on the precedent of alternate timelines having effected our timeline before
Yeah it may, but I wouldn't be hoping for anything major
Elsies timelines looped on the day when Cayde became the hunter vanguard, which is after Rising and every of her timelines are the same to that point
With Saint, if he is in fact "not our Saint" that would mean he's a part of a vex simulation and i'd not like to see entire spinoff game being canon as the vex simulating alternative dark age for fun
For those interested, Jason Schreier’s new book delves deep into the whole Diablo Immortal debacle. Not a paid endorsement-I just finished reading it
Not to distract, however I’ve been curious if you [My name is Byf] might be knowledgeable on Destiny currency lore and its implications. I’ve got a bit of a ramble and I’m unsure where my memory or misunderstanding may have gone astray. So…
Glimmer.
9:20 I’m pretty sure the speaker dropped the destiny line in d1 when we first met him
Byf…not gonna lie man when you said you didn’t wanna kill the hype or however you phrased it, you made me chuckle.
Absolutely no Byf slander here not even from yourself! You’re my lore daddy and you’re sexy just the way you are.
Straight away, I'm surprised because Osirus recently disclosed alternate timelines. Also, I'm nearly done reading a Destiny fan-fic.
As a warlock main, I WANT that void scythe
Tbf you shouldn’t be worried about the lore being different as it’s alternate timeline which means different not linked just focus on what lore you want to
The thing at the end above the Speaker is the Veil, uncontained and it’s an alternative timeline.
