This was one of the first songs I ever covered on my UA-cam channel, and I think a remake has been long overdue. I'm very proud of this arrangement, especially of the mix in this tune! Getting all the layers at an audible level was very challenging, but I'm glad it this came out the way it did! Massive thanks to SungHa, a fellow entering student at Berklee, for contributing some cello parts to this! It's amazing how adding a single cello made some sections sound as if there were a full string section underneath all the other instruments!

It's something that I emulate, yes. Michael Brecker is my favorite saxophonist, and I've likened his tone to a laser beam, since he doesn't really use vibrato in his fast playing. Sometimes it is hard to not use vibrato, but it is something that I had to consciously practice :)

And I'd like to do something from Bravely Default, it's been a requested series on this channel for a long time :)
This is absolutely fabulous. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon's final levels have such amazing music and this is a perfect rendition of that.

When I heard the demo of this, I was just so floored by everything. Seeing the video just brings it out even more. SUNGHA'S INTONATION. THE BLEND BETWEEN CELLO AND BASS, SAX AND MELODICA, ETC. I have gotten back into Pokémon Mystery Dungeon lately (I loved the soundtrack and story in Blue Rescue Team and Explorers of Time/Sky) since I heard that a Great Canyon "remix" comes in Super Mystery Dungeon. This remake comes just in time to feed my jazz music needs, amazing work as always :D

Oh geez this song takes me back to a time in which baby Psy was always playing his favorite game on his GameBoy Advanced, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team. I will forever have a deep connection to that title. I wasted so much time in my life exploring that vast world, conquering most dungeons that I found before me. This song brings those fantastic, carefree memories from my youth back into my mind. Thank you for this remarkable cover.

Mmmm. The nostalgia. I grew up with Mystery Dungeon, and while I don't play it as much anymore, I have a lot of good memories from the series. Explorers of Sky was a great installment (especially with the Juice Bar), and the Sky Tower was a fun little part of the game as well. Thanks for bringing me back to the past, friend. Appreciate it.

Absolutely flawless, as always! That jazz cello just made my heart sing forever! And this song is so near and dear to me. It's majestic and has such an impact on the story from PMD. I remember spending ages and ages trying to beat this place and everytime I was just a hair away from making it. All those weather conditions were challenging, but that makes sense for the final main dungeon! Love this cover so much! Thank you
Thanks, Ian! SungHa's tone is incredible. I think this song holds a lot of memories for all of us who played PMD, Sky Tower was a really hard challenge at the end of the main story.

There's always going to be a few jealous people who dislike, but the ratio of likes to dislikes highlights the amazing quality of these videos!
Dislikes are actually beneficial to a UA-cam video, surprisingly! As I understand it, UA-cam really cares about the number of engagements on a video, like the number of times someone clicks like, comments, or even clicks dislike. While obviously you don't want dislikes, they still boost your engagement numbers.
The mystery dungeon games had some of, if not the best, soundtracks of any pokemon game. I'm so glad Carlos is covering them!

Ahh. Nostalgia. Even though I died a lot (thankfully I came prepared with reviver seeds), the music was always a nice touch of the stage of what makes it special, even though you know you won't return, it gives a hopefully feeling.

i can't find anything wrong with it, the meter in 7 is unique and keeps you on your toes, the changes in texture while still keeping jazz themed chords, oh my god the instrumentation

My god, that really brought back some of the best memories of my childhood from that game. The feels were really flowing in this piece! SungHa was also amazing as well, the cello fit into the song really nicely. It seems like you really enjoyed making this video, it really shows in the quality of your work. .Someone else mentioned a cover ofTemporal Tower, and I completely agree with that, it'd be kinda like a spiritual successor to this video!

Performance-wise, I sincerely believe this is your best video so far. It's incredibly hard not to dance to this and the arrangement you did excelled in diversity and the feeling that has that "last stand" sound to it.

Sky tower always had this great sense of finality in it's theme and this cover makes that even more apparent like 3:19 which by the way OH MY GOD IS THAT THE BEST PART.

Listened to this in the background first and thought exactly that. Was very surprised it was a single cello. Great addition, and another great release.
I have no idea what happened in the mix, but it totally sounds like a full string section with just that one cello part. SungHa is magic ;)
This song is one of the only songs that can make me cry.
I really didn't want to finish PMDRRT 'cause that'd mean abandoning the partner pokemon, and I loved that game, and everything about it. 'Course it all works out in the end, but the feels were real man. Sometimes they still are.
