From the moment I first heard this in-game, I knew a cover was going to be made! It’s no secret that I absolutely loved the soundtrack of UNDERTALE by Toby Fox. So many elements of the soundtrack are reminiscent of classic RPG music, which is far and away my favorite type of video game music, since it’s so thematic and melodically-based. You can imagine my excitement when I heard that there was a “sequel” to UNDERTALE that was dropped right around Halloween. By now, there’s an abundance of DELTARUNE covers on UA-cam, and I thought I’d add mine to the heap.
Chapter 1 of DELTARUNE was a joy to play through, and I’m very excited to see what more Toby and his team will be able to create in the future. DELTARUNE’s music has so many of the qualities that I loved from UNDERTALE, so I’m very glad to see those make a comeback. I loved the dialogue and unique character development throughout the story.
Musically speaking, this is a very very big arrangement. There’s around 70 tracks of audio I this, I think! I wanted to add a lot of little small elements in different parts of this arrangement to reflect the grandeur that I believe this song has! There are a lot of elements featured in this particular video that aren’t in a ton of my videos, including flute (I’m studying it at school this semester!), vocals, and lots and lots of layered parts. When mixing this song, I used a few Anamanaguchi tracks as references! I was going for an “acoustic chiptune” sort of vibe with this, if that’s even a thing.

I recently discovered that music really has an effect on my mood, I've been depressed for so long, it comes back every once in a while and when ever it's there, I subconsciously start listening to sad music.

Your version is like a gem that I already found beautiful, yet I didn't wear my dirty glasses to see it better. Then I finally put lenses and discovered amazing shades I didn't see before. I can't help but think of Etika while listening to Deltarune, I was watching the Deltarune playthrough when you know, he passed away, and now I just can't bring myself to continue watching it, and listening to any Deltarune music makes me so sad...
I totally know how you feel. I was definitely a fan of his, admittedly not the most hardcore, but I was one. I think rather than being sad for what happened... we have to embrace it, learn what we can from it, and look towards a better future :)

The flute is actually pretty similar to the sax, a lot of the fingerings are the same and the embouchure is somewhat similar as well. Carlos still has a crazy wide range of instruments though.

@@tovi3280 many of the notes are played with the same finger positions so its fairly easy to pick up if you already know how to play one. My old band director used to say if you know how to play clarinet, sax, or flute you could learn to play the others easily. I wouldnt know though, i only had a clarinet >_>

I just want to take a moment to mention that this game is just one and a half years old, and everyone has already forgotten about it.
Man, what a year have the last three months been.
For over 4 years I've been coming to this song over and over to bring up my mood. Everything about just strikes me in awesome ways. You know, I kinda feel like Toby made Undertale purely to set the stage for Deltarune. I know that isn't true, but it sure feels like he did.
ASquared it does feel like that now you mention it, he’s been working on deltarune since before Undertale was even released
'Cept you're basically right. UT was made by Toby as "proof" that he could finish a game overall, wheras DR has been chipped at for years before UT (2012)
DELTARUNE was the game Toby *originally* wanted to make. Undertale sprung out of his efforts to develop it.
If that's the case than the few "Abnormalities" that people like to theorize about such as Undyne and Alphys not knowing eachother or Undyne having both eyes could just be leftover aspects of a previous design. If you go through the design history of any video game you'll see several major changes made along the way, sometimes the first version could be completely unrecognizable from the final product.
When something is made well, it starts to seem like everything else revolves around it for a while.
