The process of this connection did not work. I have a Motorola g6 phone hoping for this to work but it was another fail as you see by watching this video.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S10e. I hooked it up in my HDMI2 port and nothing. After watching this video, I almost give up. I then decided to hook it to my HDMI1 port and Eureka! Love seeing my live yoga workout on the big screen!
I ended up keeping mine...I got it to work. I honestly do know why it wants to work and not work. I keep my phone plugged into the adapter while pulling out the HDMI cable from the device...When you unplug you will get a message that says disconnected from secondary device...You wanna wait until the message disappears then try. Some times it might take a few times. Mines been working great all day.
Mine worked great for a couple months. Then stopped working at full resolution. Then stopped working altogether. I swear all makers of dongles must put a ticking timebomb in them to make them fail after 3 months so that you'll buy another one.
When your TV turned on, it was already on the HDMI 2 input, but you didn't try to see if it worked on HDMI 1. I'd be willing to bet it works, however I didn't like this product as the screen would periodically go black but sound would still play through. It also did not pull audio automatically so I had to connect to my speakers via Bluetooth. Don't get discouraged, USB-C is a great technology and there are adapters that work wonderfully, for just a few dollars more than this model, and they even support keyboard and mouse inputs. However, it could be that your Motorola was not programmed with screen mirroring capabilities. I'd do a little bit more research by typing your phone model and the word HDMI on Google to get a better answer. I bought this same product and it worked as intended, although I have a Samsung Galaxy S9+ which has a built-in program for this purpose.
Lol it's not working for any of you because your tv and phone both have to support DP function. These adaptors are not amplified ,some require a separate 5v plug in for the amplification .also turn on flight mode when connecting .if your having issues
$30 for this little shit? and i cant even use it to make my phone screen into a monitor for my xbox! We're very tight on money, so i cant afford a real tv... This adapter is an honest scam smh...

I have the onn USB-C to HDMI adapter does that mean I can't use my phone that has the type C? Or do I need it say usb type C?
