I have the ClearClick-branded version of this device (where the only difference between the two is that ClearClick doesn't include the little tripod).
I've been using mine to make digital captures from VHS tapes and LaserDiscs.
Devices like this cannot record HDCP without help. That help will usually be from an HDMI splitter/hub.
Just received my CLEARCLICK HD ULTIMATE BOX EDITION 2 days ago and I LOVE IT!! I have so many digital8 camcorders and several mini-dv camcorders and even though they take great video, they ALL eventually have the same problem: The tape heads become worn or defective and the CLEARCLICK HD ULTIMATE BOX EDITION takes care of that - JAMES D. WATKINS, ARTISTIC DIRECTOR of PHOENIX PRODUCTIONS.
I can plug my Blu-ray player directly into this unit and record perfectly. No hub or other HDMI add-ons needed!

Something like this is good for those that do archiving video transfers. I wish it had a S video Y/C input as well. Then would be a good replacement for a capture card and computer. I would just take output from TBC proc amp and go directly into this and has a screen to view. I wonder if that has a monitor output as well?

I'm pretty sure you can get an adapter for that.
This does not strip HDCP out of box, so not directly for infringing copyright sources out of box like implied in video title. Yes I do know a device that plus into HDMI port but that not the point. This is way more useful for those that has a TBC/proc amp and already or getting into recovering tape media if only they made one with a Y/C S-Video input? Now this is also for those that capture from HDMI like game play footage and etc.

@@digjunk3d you have to check the features. From what I saw of the entire line including the flag ship device, it may just be pass through. I will be getting one but this does record live stuff.
a flash drive is not considered a reliable long term storage medium. if all goes according to plan, you will need to make a backup and storage on other device media.

This is like the Archos series from about 20 years back. Google archos 400.
Came with a nightmarish 'octopus' dongle to feed it any incoming signal type (rca cords, hdmi, etc...) and to output to them. It had internal software to even record on schedules, converted to/from file-types (not a lot of different types tho).
Yes I had one it was great.
I loved Archos products
was very locked down with locked drives married to individual devices. Its from the DRM dark ages.
Richman I've been watching your videos for a while now I have learned when everyone is saying good things there's something wrong and I found out the hard way. The Cloner Alliance stinks it's hard to install and after installing the takes hours then no sound. Funny not one person said or had difficulties installing this devise.I got my cloner yesterday and have been on it trying to make it work since then. Wait 3:19!!! Does that mean I could hook it up to my Nikon D3400 and record interviews with a microphone onto the same video recording and not have to put them together in post? Or will I still have to marry the audio to the video during editing?
So can this be used to record tv shows from over the air digital tv like DVR? If it does it probably can only record 1 at a time. Trying to find over the air DVR to get of cable. Thank you!
Walmart has them. Be aware that the current ATSC 2.0 tuners will not work with ATSC 3.0 and the greedmongers intend to encode it so it is no longer free. I use an excap295 with a 1080P Roku to record from the internet. Use FAT32 because NTSC will not let you fast forward the video through the ads.

But this doesn't seem like something you can use easily as a DVR. Even if you have it connected to your cable box via component video and composite audio how would you use software to program shows? It can't schedule repeat series recordings right? Sounds like it is all manual that you have to set every time and have it on the channel you want to record. So this is just for one time recording, not an interface for selecting shows and series for it to record at the right time and by switching to the right channel.
you can still record series. no it doesn't have an interface but this is not made to be a dvr

On a totally different topic, how am I able to download and save any ibooks I purchased and only viewable on my Apple devices? Naturally, I'd love to have a raw pdf file copy of my purchase. We can seem to copy and download anything today, but not sure about ibooks 😞

Great little piece of tech Richman. Just have a question. Does this record in 4k and can it record Dolby Atmos sound? I ask, because even though I buy my discs for my NAS to utilize, I wanted to complete some things that were never released onto any disc format. Example. Daredevil Season 3. It streams on Disney+ as 4k HDR with Dolby Atmos sound. I can then have Season 3 as a great recording, but I need those 2 capabilities. If any recording device does that, please let me know. Thanks.

Actually usage of camera batteries on the back is a selling point not a detriment The person who is likely to be buying this device is a person who has a camera that uses that same battery
Unifying your battery line is very important to that kind of person you can also get those batteries very affordably and in very large sizes
This thing would probably not be that good with double A's it would take a lot of them although I'm betting you can find a mule shell for one of those batteries that takes double A's I can't tell looks like Sony battery?

your exact comment is why for every camera i own i get a NPF adapter so i only use one battery type for everything, even the newer sonys like alpha one or a7s3. i use one battery for all. the stock batteries suck.
4K@30fps should be fine for starters. interesting concept.

Well, you've got to have an HDMI stripper to resolve that issue and eliminate that problem.
So this will upconvert any standard def recording to 1080? Does it have a built-in TBC?
That remote looks like the same case and buttons that the ezcap295 uses. Probably same Chinese factory with a little different programming and button labels.

Yes. The volume control is audio monitor volume, not the recording volume.
How does it do with VHS? Does it have a VGA or S-VHS input? Does the sound sync correctly? Excellent Video (Liked & Shared)
From what he showed in the video there are breakout cables for composite for standard definition (red, white, yellow), component for high definition 1080i (red, blue, green), VGA for standard definition to high definition (and possibly even higher resolutions), HDMI-to-HDMI, as well as 3.5 mm stereo male-to-male cables. So with the VHS format you'd use the composite connectors for your output to connect to the MMI HDMI port on the back of the recorder. Then attach whatever your storage drive is (USB hard drive, USB Flash Drive, or insert a SD card). Next you're just copying the playback of the tape to your storage drive. Not too different from making a tape-to-tape copy. I would go to the manufacturer's website to read about the technical specs on the machine to see how it can be best used to preserve your old video tape library. Or to use it as a business tool for saving old taped memories into a digital format while there is still something to capture. Magnetic tape degrades over time even when you're not using it. To the point where the colors, the sound, the overall image quality can be totally trashed.

I have a very specific need for this device in that I want to make copies of my Xbox and PS game disks to use in place of the original so as not to damage them. I didn't hear you mention a DVD to DVD option? I may have just found this year's Christmas present to myself... 😮
You can easily find 60fps in other brands and for less money. This has 30 fps. And if you display copyright protected content the screen goes black.
What do you recommend?

Can anyone answer me this please, if you set your tv to a channel and start to record that channel. Can you then change the channel and will it keep recording the channel it was recording. Or is it just a screen recorder? in other words will it only record what is on the tv screen.
It records what it currently is being sent through the HDMI cable.

What's the difference between this and the UHD pro for 4K. does it record in 4K and is it a better model for about $80 more? How good is the quality of what's recorded versus what you're seeing on a larger screen?
The UHD pro can record in H.264 and H.265. 4k @ 30FPS. The HD is only 1080p. and can only do H.264 compresssion.
Why no integrated WiFi? Would be nice to record stuff wireless.

It might if the Roku is 1080P. Anything higher will have HDCP encoding.

What it won't record is NTSC 3.0 DRM. Stations rolling out NTSC 3.0 are choosing to use Digital Rights Management. This means that if you have an NTSC 3.0 tuner, even if it has a DRM, has a "Do Not Record" flag and no recorder will have the ability to process the signal. This is probably the end of cord cutting broadcast TV.
Appreciate you sharing this info, @shenmisheshou7002 . It's something a lot of people need to know about, especially if they're relying on broadcast TV to keep them entertained. Let's hope there's some way around this that keeps things affordable and accessible for everyone!
Well actually if you make a machine that ignores the HDMI red flags you can still record the data coming in from that HDMI signal without any issue. You could bypass red flag signals by running the feed through a HDMI hub that ignores those signals and then into a capture device to save it. A great tool for making recordings in real time.
@@IraQNid With DDRM, the video content is encrypted during packaging with AES 128-bit encryption. A special key protocol is required to facilitate both the encryption and decryption process. Most TVs sold in the last 5-6 years have the necessary circuitry to accept the signal for playback only and will not pass it to the HDMI output.
Yeah, the new NTSC 3.0 is going to put an end to these kind of devices. I would not waste my 300 dollars on any recording devices at this time. The days of copying video content are slowly going away.
@@dathyr1 Yes, I think this will be the end of my broadcast TV days because I refuse to have four different subscriptions, one to each major network, and because the networks just don't have very much good content to start with unless you like reality TV.

the problem is your memory device is in the wrong format. Reformat into a different format and you won't have that problem. You are welcome.

It is called copyrights, but in fact you can do it with Audials one 2023 software for PC, but anyway you have to pay for it.

Yes. Just run the HDMI out from the direct tv to the HDMI input on this device

The CR2025 and CR2032 are both 3V button cells, have identical diameters but the 2032 is 3.2mm thick while the 2025 is 2.5mm thick. With just 0.7mm of difference, for as long as either fits in the battery compartment, they can be used interchangeably with minimal effect.
