That flaming star has nothing to do with the devil. The devil star is a 5-pointed pentagram, this one is a 9-pointed nonagram... a point representing each member of the band. Yes there's nine members in Slipknot.
I was thinking the other day that when our generation moves into the old folks homes, the way old folks today have Sinatra etc playing in their rooms, we'll have Maiden, Slipknot, Ghost, etc lol
This is what they’ve said about the masks: “The masks let each individual represent his true self, free of constraints like social politeness, shared mannerisms, or conventional morality. They're a way to liberate the self, and push the energy and aggression of their performances to the forefront, without holding back. As Taylor says, "The mask for me has always been that physical representation of the person inside me who just never had a voice. It allows me to be me... I'm showing you more than I've ever revealed." Crahan goes on to say that people are always "looking for a better face" and presenting themselves in manicured, vain ways rather than solidifying their senses of self.”
early on it had the added benefit of giving them anonymity, they could move around most cities and in the crowds of fans without being recognized, I think Craig/Pinhead is the only one who still maintains that though, all the rest have their photos out there I believe
The singer Corey Taylor actually has a beautiful singing voice when he isn’t going hardcore. Check out their song “Snuff”, very slow song and he sings great on it
Spit it Out live from download 2009. That one video gives you a very, very clear idea of what kind of energy they bring and what seeing them is all about.
"Spit it Out" Live at Download 2009. The PERFECT example of the love/loyalty/talent/bars/and crowd control that this band has. 1000% you will not be disappointed!!!
They are a monster of a band. They consist of a vocalist, 2 guitarists, 2 custom percussionists, a main drummer bassist, a dj and a sample/effects guy. I understood the 9 point star represents each of the 9 band members.
Hello guys it's Alberto González of Puerto Rico and Slipknot doesn't worship satan they just sing about everything bad that happens in the world. Thank you for showing these vídeos blessings and good evening.
Spit it Out Live from Download 2009 you NEED to do that video next. You will get the feel of how they are in concert. I saw them in concert and they are BY FAR the best act I have seen in concert in my lifetime, and I have been to A LOT!! They are non-stop, all over the stage through the WHOLE thing
I'm 46.. missed this the first time around.. well.. I didn't miss it I just didn't get it. Now I'm super stoked to see ya'll reacting to this. The thing about moshes is your in it with everybody, friends, strangers, every mosh I have been in I was bleeding and happy afterwards. One of my favorites. Thanks for the post.
I really appreciate ur guys reaction to some heavy metal, that’s technically the genre lol. This is my world of music haha. I never expected u guys to react to this stuff and u didn’t throw any hatred at it at all and it’s not an easy genre to enjoy in all honesty. I grew up on heavy metal lol. U really gained alot of respect from me for this, so seriously thank you ❤️
They did one video without their masks on. It’s called Before I Forget. You never get a full look at their faces, but you do see them in part. It’s good stuff, and very energetic.
The look on her face at times is priceless. lol I remember seeing one of Slipknot's CD covers in a store years ago and thought the same thing... Now, fifteen years later, still one of my favorite bands.
Loved this, this was a bold choice for your first slipknot song lol they have some like Killpop that would ease you into it a little better. Keep up the great reactions!!!
Slipknot makes me feel the same way, thats why I listen to them when im mowing the grass or doing physical task outside, makes me wanna just break stuff. Yall should really do a reaction to the leads singer Corey Taylors acoustic version of SNUFF. No mask and the song is super deep.
Saw them live in Feb 2020 (just before lockdown). Wasn't in the moshpit (too old for that noise) but was easily one of the greatest musical experiences of my life - no one in that huge crowd was still or quiet for the whole set, every song was played haaard!
Fun fact, slipknot singer Corey Taylor is also the singer of stone sour back in the day, which is almost a night and day difference in what he does now in slipknot so he can hit low guttural growls to high melodic singing or anything between, they also have or had the most drums or percussion in a band for a while and yeah masks are their thing
You gonna learn today 😂🖤🤘🏻 You guys should check out Snuff by them. And then the acoustic version 🖤🖤🖤 (You remember that’s the same guy from the Falling In Reverse Drugs video, right?)
The star you were seing is actually The Nonagram (9 Point Star). It's a symbol that Slipknot drew by themself and its a symbol of unity with each other, it's the symbol of 9 people. Each point represents each band member.
You should definitely watch some of their drum cam videos. Joey Jordison R.I.P. was one of the greatest drummers ever. On one of their tours they had his kit on a pedestal and would lift him up in the air, tilt him sideways, and spin it around while he is strapped in his chair. I saw that at my first ever concert and it was mind-blowing!
Corey Tailor, their lead singer is one of the best song writers out there. Check out his other band Stone Sour. They are more hard rock rather than slipknot metal, but both are great. And if you want a totally polar taste of Slipknot listen to Vermillion Part 2.
fuck corey tailor dude is a Piece of shit that destroyed slipknot. This band use to be the absolute gods of metal now they are fucking trash and that dumb fuck got rid of one of the best drummist ever to live
When it comes to rock/metal reactions, feel free to grab the lyrics. Sometimes, certain lyrics have double meaning when you hear it but have a more specific meaning when you read them. I can't think of a great example off-hand but trust me, pulling up lyrics on your phone or something would be super helpful for those types of videos. Especially if you can't understand what they're saying when they scream it.
There are a lot of "Reaction to Psychosocial" videos out there. Yours is by far the best. You both are extremely charming, insightful and funny as hell. Your comments and reactions are clearly genuine and heartfelt. Really well done.
Rock, but metal in particular, has helped me through my angsty teenage years like you have no idea. I always had difficulty expressing my inner thoughts and feelings outward, and the intricate or just F you kinda lyrics in metal, combined with pure primal raging sounds was SUCH an outlet. I always turned that shit way up and just go bonkers in my bedroom. I always exited that room like a new person :) Slipknot has been there for me since 99, and will be with me till I die.
A buddy of mine was a roadie and he told me a story about him and the guys talking with bigger bands at the time and these little kids came in nerdy as can be, very polite saying they were one of the bands, my boy told me later them nerds came out in full masks and rocked the place better than anyone, them kids were slipknot
I seem them live at Sonisphere a festival here in the UK and they played psychosocial and just the chorus hit "and the rain will kill us all" it was unreal as it began to pour down
People who really like music are listening to a lot of different genre ! The energy Slipknot get out is incredibly insane and the community is really nice
You guys crack me up. I am 54 years old and I watch these reaction videos a lot just when I'm bored and whatever, but you guys made me laugh so thank you!
I read the comments (the first half dozen or so) and see most of your questions have been answered with great knowledge and detail. Metal is (most of the time) expressing rage about the wrongs of this world. It is aggression,. anger,. energy,. release,.. and that's why us metal heads love it so. The band Slipknot are all very cool and actually very mild manner dudes in person. They are performance artists. Just like Stephen Kings lays his art on 'paper',. they do it through music. Except 75% of the time,.. if not more,. the songs are about real world issues. RIP Joey Jordison (the drummer) who just died last month. A real loss to our community.
Slipknot live show will have all your senses on fire. So much going on between visuals and music. Cory Taylor there singer write songs for many bands. Even if you don’t mosh it still energizing.
with Asias comment about thier mosh pits I would recommend watching the Live at Download version of Spit It Out that will give you a great depiction of what the pits are like
Ive always seen it as my release of dark energy. It builds in us all... Hurt anger disrepect rejection... This style has always been above all. Brutally real in your face pure emotion.
I've seen them 8 times and they keep getting better every time I see them. Go to one of there show's. They put on such an insane concert. And Cory sings like that thee entire time. I have no idea how he does it
Info time: slipknot has been around since the late 90's. They started out 1 thru 8, wearing jumpsuits with barcodes and of course the only way to I'd them was by their number 1 thru 8. Their first album with Paul Gray was Iowa, which is where they originated I do believe. They had a tragic event happen: the sudden passing of Paul Gray which Slipknot:the Gray chapter comes in. The video Goodbye sums it up. Very emotional video. It also shows you what being true brothers is all about. Check it out.
Check out something from Slipknot's first album! Their song Eyeless is so damn good! Nothing beats their first 3 albums for me! But Joey, the drummer, is imo one of the best drummers to ever do it! Great reaction guys! 💯🔥❤
I lost a shoe, a pair of glasses, got my shirt ripped down the collar and a huge scratch down my face in a Slipknot moshpit (all at the same show), its as real as it gets at their shows I'm 5'6" and have no place in a moshpit but moshers are very helpful and pick you up when you get knocked down make sure you're okay etc, very nice people! Hope you guys check out more of them! Love your diversity in the videos you react to and the open mind you guys have to music keep it up!
Asia... it's fun to watch you fall in love with it. It's clear you like that groove metal. Badass, guys! Now that you've found Corey... enjoy the StoneSour hole.
The masks mean different things to everyone. For me, it was putting the focus on the music, instead of the person performing it. And of course, they are not devil worshippers, they actually have an uplifting message, and a belonging to a community that some people could not find in their personal lives.
I got to see them in concert when they came to NC and they lifted up the drummer and drumset up like 30 feet in the air and turned him upside down still sitting in the drumset and he just keep playing upside down..it was pretty epic..and the mosh pit when wild...hahaha..oh and they are know to always be in mask
The music is pure chaos, the images and mask reflects that in art and the masks are who they are at their darkest moments. In the beginning you got a mask and a number to identify. RIP Joey, the drummer.
For a lot of people, the visuals and theatrics of the band, can get in the way of the actual songs. They're pretty deep, and well written. Sometimes due to the cadence, the lyric videos help see more of the actual detail in the song writing. Fantastic band, very entertaining live. As others have said, the rabbit hole is deep. I also agree with Spit It Out - at Download, is a great way to see the energy. New to the channel here. Keep up the great work.
Welcome to the world of slipknot they have a very deep catalogue to work through...not too mention corey taylor has another band and some solo stuff he is a cultural icon in the rock/metal community
When your listening to music that you may not be able to fully understand. It’s always good to look up the lyrics and do some research on the song. That way you can get a better understanding of it when you react to it! Because I didn’t really fall in love with metal until I understood the meaning behind it. But I’m glad your finally going down the rabbit whole as someone else mentioned, lol.
Yalls reaction is awesome. You guys seem to like it. It's awesome seeing people's reaction when they hear Slipknot and most rock period. It's like oh shit this is awesome
The drummer you were mentioning is Joey Jordison. Unfortunately, he passed away a few years ago. The drummer they have now is Jay Weinberg, Max Weinberg from Bruce Springsteen and the E Street bands son.
I love metal concerts was in a moshpit once where I got knocked over lost my shoe and an ear plug a group of people helped me back up and gave me back my stuff and then pushed me back in. what a great time
The star thing is called the nonogram...each of the star points are meant to represent all 9 members of the band, and the circles are strength, loyalty, Unity and friendship.
lol if you thin this is alot of movement....you should see them in concert!!!!!!!!!!!! I was in the pit/ standing room only in front of stage area and oh my they put on a show!!!! Great reaction!!!!
That flaming star has nothing to do with the devil. The devil star is a 5-pointed pentagram, this one is a 9-pointed nonagram... a point representing each member of the band. Yes there's nine members in Slipknot.
100% true
And even then, the 5 pointed star is only "Devil worshiping" when it's inverted. Otherwise it's just a pentagram often used in wicca :D
Sorry bro I already sent the comment and I realised you explained it the same way I did
@@peculiarcrab5388 No worries. I'm not someone who's bothered about similar comments. It's all education.

Members of Slipknot aren't much younger than you, Michelle
I was thinking the other day that when our generation moves into the old folks homes, the way old folks today have Sinatra etc playing in their rooms, we'll have Maiden, Slipknot, Ghost, etc lol
I'm 47 and same.
This is what they’ve said about the masks:

Carrie, girl you are so on it. 👍🏻✌🏼
This is getting freaky ..lol maggot an HOG... Damn Girl
early on it had the added benefit of giving them anonymity, they could move around most cities and in the crowds of fans without being recognized, I think Craig/Pinhead is the only one who still maintains that though, all the rest have their photos out there I believe
maggot for life 🤘🏿
And the third reason is because they wanted people to buy the music because of the music not because of their faces or persona
The singer Corey Taylor actually has a beautiful singing voice when he isn’t going hardcore. Check out their song “Snuff”, very slow song and he sings great on it
The acoustic version though. The video while great is very distracting
And Vermillion part 2.
Omg, you guys need to listen/see his live concert in London! It's the most beautiful thing ever!!!! 🥰😍🤩
Snuff is their heaviest song
Absolutely agree!!
Spit it Out live from download 2009. That one video gives you a very, very clear idea of what kind of energy they bring and what seeing them is all about.

This and The Devil in I are tied for my fav Slipknot songs. Love them so much.
These dudes have tons of rocking music!
Corey Taylor, the singer.
Also has Stone Sour & you both would love their music also!
Ironically, with Slipknot, the masks and who they are on stage is probably the best insight into how they feel on the inside.
Yalls reaction is awesome. You guys seem to like it. It's awesome seeing people's reaction when they hear Slipknot and most rock period. It's like oh shit this is awesome
Now you gotta check them out live ! “Spit it out “ live from download 2009 and “before I forget “ from Germany! Both great live performances!!
Rock and Metal hits a certain frequency in people that no other genre of music can. Once its in your blood it will never leave you.

Also, the 'pin head' mask guy is their DJ and spins / scratches records. Some songs you can really hear it.
