@@modifidious7171 Yep, that's what I love about Corey's lyrics. Even though we know what the song's "really" about, it can truly have so many meanings like you said. The first time I heard it, I instantly thought of both toxic relationships and addiction.

Everybody immediately thinks it's about a relationship which I did too that's why Corey's a master lyric writer! It's actually about the toxic part about the music industry. Brilliant writing by Corey Taylor. Great song.

One thing that makes Corey an awesome song writer is that his my ice are often sooo much deeper than what we perceive it to be upon first, second, fifth listen. A lot of times when finding out the meaning behind their songs, it hit so hard and so closely.
What’s insane is that my old group and I before I stopped singing were contacted by Corey Taylor to actually do a cover from this song and it was played during the concert I went to before the concert started. I had pneumonia and still sung this

Its about the love hate relationship of the music industry apparently. Psychosocial, unsainted, and devil in I are also great songs by them

i feel its about duality.... he's talking about his inner personality trying to bring himself together, he's split like the girls in the video... tying to escape or overcome the other personality when conflict arises, yet trying to stay whole.... like the hole they try to climb out of..

Even though it's not where it's intended to go, this lyrics of this song makes me think of the probable mind state of my sisters ex bf who tried to tried to murder her years ago. Especially the "we were meant to be together, now die and fucking love me" part. I was the one she called to get her out of that apartment after he had bashed her to unconsciousness over and over again, crushed her windpipe strangling her. Then when he found out she was getting the fuck away from him for good, he bluetacked a photo of them two together on the bed rest and OD'd so we'd find him like that. He survived and she pressed charges, but he was completely fucked in the head and believed he really had a right to take my sisters life. And that's the gloomy place this song takes me.
