114. What's Inside this IMMACULATE World Cruiser? [Full Tour] Learning the Lines

- The Ta Shing Baba 30, designed by Bob Perry, is a renowned go-anywhere bluewater cruiser. Her classic lines and functional design can get you across an ocean in comfort.
This particular boat is in immaculate condition. It's obvious in the video we just couldn't get over how well she's been cared for. The boat needs nothing. She's ready to go and certainly embodies the "go small, go now" mentality.

Learning the Lines is a channel about us, an average couple in our 20's, with big dreams to be sailing the world by the time we're in our 30's. We're not afraid to jump into anything, put in the work, and learn as we go. For this reason our channel is very DIY focused, with the goal to show anyone watching that a lot is possible if you're not afraid to make some mistakes along the way.

I bought this boat Feb 2022. After this video was made 2+ yrs ago, it was sold to a senior couple who had it for only about 1.5 yrs and didn't get to use it as they had planned. They had to put 4 new motor mounts identified in their survey, replaced all the standing rigging and installed a new electric head system. I bought it from them February 2022. On March 17, 2022, I sailed her solo 1200 mi's from Port Charlotte FL, down to Marathon, then up to Barnegat Light NJ (5wks, 3days). Passing Cape Canaveral i took on a 52kt squall that blew me backwards 16mi. with 12ft following sea, but i felt totally safe. When i got to St Augustine I fired up the engine to go into the inlet for fuel and the fuel line severed after the secondary fuel filer at the banjo fitting. I was in St Augustine for 7 days at a really nice marina waiting on the part replacement, then continued north. A boat can look "good to go", but there's always new maintenance to deal with. Certainly not disappointed. She sails like a dream. I have some video of her on my channel and adding new stuff soon if anyone cares to view.
I think what saves the woodwork from being overdone is the choice of the vibrant blue upholstery. Sets off the interior very well. Fabulous boat.
This is the first "small" boat that I have ever seen and fallen in love with. Great video of a great boat!
That's what a sailboat is supposed to look like!
I support this message!
Ignore the haters complaining about cruising videos. The videos of boat tours switch is the best move you could have made in the Now of your channel standings.Your amateur approach lends that much more credibility to the tours and I like it so much I resubscribed.Sailing videos are a dime a dozen;what you have here is rare so hang on to it...thumbs up as usual.
Arrrrrrg, couldn't agree more.
@@K_R_W I was agreeing to enjoying boat tour videos. I intended nothing to do with "haters" comment. I'm far too self absorbed to give a crap about any opinion but my own. You're free to ask anything you please but toughen up a bit and don't be so easily offended you pussy.
I didn't know then when they were just doing cruising videos.. this is what I know, and I have to say it's kind of addicting! They've really discovered a great UA-cam creator niche!
I think they are authentic. That's important
Completely agree. I love the tours.
What a beautiful boat! The wood is maintained so well. Thanks for sharing.
It is heart warming to see a truly epic boat get the respect and upkeep she deserves. You two be happy and be safe.
I love how you do videos together shows Happiness and happiness is important on a boat
this is such a solid 30 fter, adorable, beautiful, and packed with great features. the layout is perfect as well for its size. inspiring for future projects on my own boat. thank you guys for sharing.
Looks beautiful and so pristine!
I love this boat so much. It's beautiful!!
Truly appreciate your presentation guys, no slang or thrills that tend to be so common these days, really invigorating to see and very enjoyable! Thank you!
Thanks for posting and sharing. The boat looks great.
Great episode, loving the boat tours
That is a perfect starter boat for a couple getting into sailing. The entire boat is beautiful. It really is the boat I have been waiting for! Now to wait for the 64K to buy her. Hope she's still available when the money arrives if it ever does (lol). Thank you for the tour and I hope someone who can really love this boat buys it. Take care and have a good week.
That is a beauty!! You can look at her and see she has been well cared for, not just cleaned up for show.
Absolutely brilliant; I really like this vessel!
Thank you very much.
Great job you two, keep on doing what you are doing.
Another vid! Loved it, keep them coming.
What a beautiful boat! Keep up the great work you guys!!
Great location and boat....salute to the owner for putting more into his boat than he took out, probably in everything the owner does as well...
My first boat was a Baba 30. I loved it. Sailed to Alaska a couple of times, and I couldn’t have been more comfortable.
How was the tankage? Big enough?
Enjoy what you guys do , keep it up !
Amazing little boat, just beautiful.
Gr8 vid guys! This is one NICE boat!!!
Lovely boat and great tour thanks.
The best boat you’ve shown so far imho...
Warren s/y Legend
Baba 30 is literally on every list of the finest cruising sailboats ever made.
Thank you for another great video. And Jay - Wow! Fantastic job maintaining this pocket cruiser Wow! Someone is going to end up with a great boat when you sell it :)
Great looking little boat. Cozy was a good word for interior description. Hope you guys find your forever boat soon.
Until our adventures cross, fair winds and full sails.
Jack and Billie
Such a gorgeous boat as well as being the largest/ spacious 30-foot sailboat I've seen
Sailboat terminology is one of the biggest hurdles I've found in learning to sail. Randy's knowledge of it in this video is impressive. Made me feel like I need to up my knowledge game.
Wow, beautiful boat. Great tour...
Great video and great boat! Keep the videos coming please!
Good looking tiny cruiser nice layout and looking like a real ocean going one.
WOW very nice for it's size. Nicely laid out. Every inch is well used. No wasted space. The whole boat is perfectly practical. I seems to have more room than some of the larger boats.
owner to be congratulated on the condition of the yacht - well done!
Outstanding value and wonderfully maintained sailboat. I wouldn't kick it out of my slip!!
Super stunning vessel!
You need to buy this boat!!!! It’s ready to go! The motor, the fiberglass, the upholstery high quality port lights!
I'm a sucker for a double ender. Really nice looking, love the wood.
My favourite boat thus far!
Sweet Ta Shing!!!
I enjoy these boat tours. They're much better than having some smooth sales dude type take you around conveniently glossing over the weak points.
Keep up the good work.
Splendid tour! I also am a sucker for all that beautiful wood! Was great fun to watch you both really consider the boat for yourselves! . . . "We've had some long conversations!" haha
Ah, one potentially worth looking at for consideration of actually purchasing. Can't wait!
What a stunning boat.
Very nice to make the video on a rainy day! I love sea and raining days! Clean air for free!
Well maintained boat and a great boat..
Beautiful boat...wish it was still available. Classic!
My favorite so far. That is a beautiful, well kept boat and a pretty good price as well.
Bob Perry hit a home run on this one!
Excellent ocean boats !
An amazing little boat! It truly has all those little things a single handed bachelor would be looking for and it's all in pristine condition. All I can say to owner... you're NOT asking enough for your boat! I would be interested if I was not living 1600 miles from the ocean right now.
Beutifull boat a great ocean crueser indeed..this little sloop will fulfil your most wonderful dreams...!
Very well laid out boat. Very comfortable to travel for 2. Small enough to go anywhere
Gorgeous indeed
Really really clean boat
Beautiful boat
Great boat. 🤙🏼
No doubt she has been well loved. Would love to own something that beautiful. Thanks for showing her.
Beautiful boat ! No doubt 👍
Y’all need that boat!
My brother owned a 60ft wooden racing sloop back in the 80's to which we'd venture from Big Sur for watertime...Bristol you say? I enjoy your run thru's, for they show your love of sailing and eagerness to learn, never acting as if you've got it all down...🙃
My dear friends and long time sailing partner and wife are selling a Baba 30 in Emeryville Ca, right now 03/08/21 Rubicon Yachts. I have sailed and spent lots of time on Kailua for many days at a time. I think you did a great job showing the boat but sailing her is just amazing. Great boat for sure!
love love love that boat
Beautiful boat.
Great boat, Bob Perry designs a special boat and it looks far roomier than my 32 of older vintage. You guys should look at the Baba 35. Bob Perry has a great fan Facebook page and comments a lot with words of wisdom. Andy UK
I'm seeing this 2 years late, but MAN what a perfect sailboat! I wish I'd seen this 2 years sooner! !
Beautiful boat! Price is very reasonable! Gorgeous interior!
What a beauty!
Hey guys another great video, credit for the clothes continuity although the 'it's original' caption flashed on and off real quick. But man this boat is perfect for you so go and get it, you only live one !
Glorious boat, and it's got a porthole in the dunny door so you can watch someone else having a crap. It's these little touches that make all the difference... Cheerio!
What looks to you like a porthole is really just a mirror.
Nice boat thanks for nice video..👍
Just gorgeous
Thanks for showing this beautiful boat. Been seeking a sailboat and there are so many 'plastic' boats that fit for party people and am retired and solo and enjoy it that way. Do not want a big boat just a solid one that is not a fixer up. I will contact this gentleman soon. I am in Washington state. Thank you.
I think it's a great little boat . And Randi is adorable
You do great videos.
wow thats an awesome boat!
Great video guy's. Thanks for sharing your videos. Can you do one of a Tayana 37 👍😀🇿🇦
I love this vessel awesome
I am currently single and so would love to get a boat like this when I am ready. Beautiful in so many ways.
Thanks!
That forward view from the berth is absolutely amazing and gives you that quick view as you enter the head😂
.... very nice boat .... liked your banter at the end of the video ..... Jordan!! ... the subscribe button is under the other corner .. laughing .. could sense you were doing the so it is backwards, reverse mirror image so it is on this side ...... Never stop dreaming .. dream bigger .... have fun be safe, save our oceans .....
Pride of ownership really comes through on this boat..............yep plenty of good wood!
what is interesting about Perry canoe stern designs is how he managed to manipulate the flow around the waterline at the stern.
he has this theory about the exit angle and how it affects speed.
This is an enormously graceful yet traditional design.
Nice boat ***Very well presented *** Paul, St Petersburg,Fl
NICE BOAT!!!
Very nice boat....
what a beauty. perfect for me alone.
It's a Bob Perry design! It's beautiful, functional and will handle weather. But, it's not a Tayana 37. A Tayana 37 in that condition that I could afford would be another thing. Maybe even one that I couldn't quite afford. I could suffer a bit. The Baba 30 and the Tayana 37 are two of my top choices. But, I think the 30 is just a bit smaller than I want. Great boat, great video, thanks. And I understand the off camera conversations.
What a great looking boat! Oh? Wow! If I had any money I'd bought one of these!
beautiful boat! excellent finishes, a gem, too bad only a cabin
Unexpectedly, I like this boat! It meets my needs for a small, self-sail cruiser. The genuine Nav station and Bow thruster make her an enticing boat!
The new owner will be lucky and proud to own it. Please, please list/add the Fuel and Water tank capacities of these boats. Thanks!
i just love nav stacion ... just perfect ...i will buy one one day ..will learn how to sail .and sail around the world ...
That boat is owned and maintained by a true "old salt" sailor who's been out to sea a time or two, I didn't see a thing I would change, which is unusual, and I think y'all have found my boat. I'd love to see her under sail; I'm a sucker for a cutter rigged sloop.
Just a title change👌
@@fatherthomas1575 LoL, right?
This is a real cruiser!
Beautiful boat, probably my favorite you've looked at. To me, there's too much wood though. It will be a ton of work to maintain, which takes away from sailing time. And too dark inside, it's nice to have the light color wood and about 50% white surfaces in my experience.
I sail a Bayfield 32c, clipper bow, cutter rig with an all teak finished cabin. My upholstery is a very close match for the blue on this boat. Although I too love the traditional woodwork, it makes for a dark cabin. If I’m on the boat, any time of day, at least one of my interior lights are on.
As we all know when coming in from bright sunlight to a dark area it takes a while for your eyes to acclimate. If I’m going below looking for something, even something not buried in the deep recesses of the vessel I need a flashlight.
That said this is a very well maintained boat, but at the listed price in US dollars, I’m not sure the value is there. If you’re in the market for a 30’ vessel you can buy a lot of boat for $64k US.
that's what an eyepatch is for! keeps one eye adjusted to light, the other to dark, flip up when going below, and you get to be a salty pirate. arrrrggggghhhh
