Such an iconic game, not just for the game itself but even because of the heroes involved - Varian vs. Garrosh, Genji vs. Hanzo, Zerg vs. Terran; doesn't get more Blizzard than this. HGC might be done but this game and this series will be part of esports history forever. Legendary.

Khaldor is one of the main reasons HotS has ANY sort of competitive player base.
He was running pro tourneys BY HIMSELF 3 years ago before HotS even had an official league. He's been in it since day 1.
You can disagree with the way he calls games or his comments about the matches, but he is probably one of the 3 more influential people for why HotS hasn't folded yet. Him and Dread have been huge for the game, and Grubby

To me this is also the best game of hots, that ending is amazing. Even the last game of this series(which is INCREDIBLE too) cannot quite keep up to this. Dig forever

I posted “6.5, no comebacks” on game 4 of this series, but this match deserves it so much more.
6 years later and this game is still so good. Remember watching this live. Blizzard has to revive this great game.

that pressure and patience from Dignitas, Gen G's patience gave up first and tried to sneak a camp. if they got away with taking the camp Dignitas would be unable to defend without splitting and losing the objective. so intense!
Imo the camp was a good idea and Tssst made the mistake by staying way too far front and away from the rest of his team.
Especially with all heroics down Tssst should have anchored right next to the camp and afterwards they should have retreated all the way down to bot lane and let Hanzo interrupt until most heroics are back up. Of course this is hindsight and I wouldn't have gotten there and if I had I wouldn't have played any better, especially not after dominating all map long.

Never give up guys, all you need is 5 people who train every day together and strategize constantly. What's that? All you have is some random people of wildly different skill levels? I guess uhh stay positive?
After rewatching it God only knows how many times, i just realised: At 07:50 They wrecked with Varian, but only in 1 fight and that is not enough to win....
Well that last fight and how they took the whole map and got a crazy ammount of shots in was the answer to that statement
So... HGC is no more... So this will the greates comeback EVER on a pro-scene.

HOTS did great for casual player base. It was just, however, never be a large - scale competitive game at the first place for its several mechanics.

Dehaka shouldn't start that camp or Garrosh should back off with his team. 4 people went to camp and Garrosh was left alone for a tiny second and Dignitas grasped that second! Amazing game!
Ese garrosh, lo mataron por hacer el stun con la Q, innecesario cuando iba 23 - 5. Revirtió la bola de nieve a favor de Dignitas, que además contaba con una Li Ming casi perfecta.

every fight they focus dehaka or garrosh they lose so why they keep doing it?? i dont get it!! why focus the tank??
Dehaka and Garrosh aren't tank type warriors, they are initiator and utility focused warrior. Real tank are heroes like Johanna, Muradin, ETC, and Diablo who can take a strong combo and survive. Dehaka's main draw is his global presence, wave clear, and temporary invincibility. Garrosh's main draw is of course as initiator and setup for teammates.
And if you go on someone else garrosh simply comes to you and and launch you in his backlines, you need to silence him first, so why don't you avoid wasting a silence and go for him in the first place?

I really don't get why Malfurion went Tranquility here. Twilight Dream seems so good with so much dive from Dignitas. Blaze, Varian, Genji, and even Calamity Li-Ming. And it's not like Tranquility is gonna save someone from all that lockdown and burst. Dream seems like game changing here.
May be for sustain issues. Take a look at one of the last tfs. Before garrosh died.
Altars and map control means everything - you need to be able to stick for the drawn out battles rather than just take wombo tools and pray that you win objectives via kills alone. There's also a lot of choke-points, a Genji who isn't likely to be caught out, a Li Ming who can poke from miles away, two front-line peelers and silence/peel healer just waiting for a squishy like Malf to get caught.
The Cloud9 final match with the murky comp is still the coolest game ever ... but this came close
That match was insane too. i remember watching live on twitch and chat called GG after 5 minutes. And then well....the rest is history

There is no game 7 and there will never be one. Gen.G starts with 1 game advantage because they won the upper bracket. Learn the bloody rules.

Gen.G has 1 point advantage because they won the upper bracket -> max 6 games.
They only play 6 games. Winners Bracket always starts with a 1 game advantage.

So Garrosh ruined the entire game (and possibly the tournament at that point) for Gen.G by one miss-click?!? He cancels his objective point channeling at 29:14 (you can just see it top left corner). If he would have continued, one of the greatest plays ever on this map might never have happened.
I'm sure there will be some internal discussions happening regarding this, i'm saying match-fixing! :D
Nah he did it because he wanted to wait for one tower to go down and they get 5 hits on the core to end the game.
It was indeed obvious why he did it, but looking at how long the enemies were gone, (and they became visible in mid lane) he should have known that he would not have the time to re-channel completely again. better to have 4 certain shots, than a very slim chance of getting 5 to end the game.
What miss-click? Dignitas didn't even have level 20 talents and Gen.G had positioning advantage. They stalled to go for a chance at finishing the game right there and then, which is the right move. Their mistake was playing the shrine-poke game too long, allowing Dignitas to get level 20, and then Garrosh getting caught out in a Taunt/Silence wombo when he himself was trying to catch someone. They should have simply pulled the trigger as soon as Dignitas tried to contest, or positioned themselves so that the only way to harass the one capturing the shrine is to literally face tank the enemy.
It's easy to look at a game that has happened and say "They should have just took the altar", but hey, nobody can predict the future - when you have the advantage and a chance to win THE ENTIRE TOURNAMENT, you can't always be the "play it safe" guy. In the end they threw it in exciting fashion.
