I have been watching this channel for a while. Ashley and Ben, You are an amazing couple, giving Willa and Bodi an awesome Life ! The Confidence that You both have in navigating, repairing, sailing Nahoa is just incredible, whilst raising two toddlers. I watch and rewatch each episode with great Pleasure. Sadly, due to the horrendous exchange rate, I am not in a position to become a patron but follow the channel each week. Fair winds and Safe travels. Regards from Cape Town

I love to see that you have stuck to Nahoa and made her a way better boat than she was from Lagoon. Are you still considering a custom build? I have noticed that other cruisers buying millions of dollars “production boats” seem to be ending up with more problems than I have ever had with buying a well built, well designed and properly refit yacht.

I am one of many, who bonded with little Willa when she experienced an anaphylactic reaction to a mislabeled jar of peanut butter.
She survived because her Parents reacted without hesitation. Ashley administered adrenalin with an "Ana kit" she had on hand and Ben didn't pooh poo the event , instead he immediately took Willa to a local Hospital, where she was stabilized and we get to check up on her with every "Nahoa" video. Thank you Ben and Ashley!

Thanks for posting this week's great video. You've picked the perfect island to "take a break" from the swells for a while. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, your children will grow up with the knowledge that can never be taught or learned in a classroom. Your navigation all over the world and home-schooling will produce well-rounded and well-educated members of society.
Enjoy your stay on the islands.

Nice beach! I'd be careful with those hermit crabs, though, they have tough pincers. I knew a little girl who had one pinch her so hard that she couldn't get it off; we had to use a pair of needle-nosed pliers to open the pincer...and she had one very, very sore spot on the palm of her hand (between her thumb and index finger) where the crab had grabbled hold. 😫

Hey guys we love your channel, Jennifer and I are looking forward to setting sail from Georgian Bay Ontario next summer to head down to Florida and then the Bahamas and then wherever the wind takes us, hopefully around the world… Circumnavigation lol. You know what would really separate your channel from other UA-cam sailors? When you’re showing any scene where the boat is underway, show on screen at least the following:
    - sail or motor?
    - depth
    - speed
    - wind direction
    - current direction
    - whatever else is relevant. We’re all here aspiring to do what you do. What else is relevant?!?!?!
    Keep up the amazing videos!

I've heard of using bungees to dampen the impact of a gust or a snapping sail. Haven't done it myself, though I played a bit with a 100lb exercise tube. Seemed like it might work. But it's one of those things you only want to use soft shackles on so if it snaps it doesn't kill you. (Also in Japan the only 'bungees' I could find were slit rubber -- like bicycle tires. They're DIY, but they sell the strands and the hooks, and it's not at all difficult getting a good join. Worked great to keep our life raft pod from sliding out of its cradle. )
Instrument fixation. The first thing I noticed when I upgraded from 20 year old Ray Marine to current B&G (which I have a lot of experience with) is fussing with all the menus my boat would get completely turned around. Endless distraction. (Contextual menus should be banned. 'wait! where was that ....?' which menu again?? ) (And Tesla makes great FSD software, amazing. But the on screen interface? It's is by far the biggest trigger to the Pay Attention Alert Scolds. And phone Apps seem to being adding stupid layers and click in this corner, and then in that corner..... That's the second cause of scolds. And why are buttons so small, or horizontal? In a car or on a boat our fingers are bobbing up and down.)

What you guys are doing is amazing ! And your kids to experience this is priceless. To interact in the different cultures etc. one thing and I have to say it. It makes me a little nervous with the youngest running around the boat with no life preserver. 🛟. You both obviously know what you’re doing. When I was young I experienced a terrible situation with a family member. So I’m always thinking that way. You all are truly inspiring.

Fifty year sailmaker here. That code zero material hates the sun and looks OK until it isn't. Light/strong/cheap... pick two. If the film isn't completely dead, it can be repaired but seems unlikely it isn't dead. When you get a new one, ask about UV life of the material. Great for your kids to grow up at sea. Respect.

Sorry to say but that Starlink unlimited data "near shore" appears to be going away this month with the recent change and anytime your on the water, including rivers , inland passages, lakes and now may include marinas. Starting sometime this month, you will only get unlimited data for 5 consecutive days and limited to 60 days total per year near shore, then your using your priority data. They are now sticking it to the cruising community.

Even after 5 trips across the south pacific the Tuamotu are still my favourite, though the anti yachtie feeling in French Polynesia these days means I may abstain for the next few years, or at least stick to the least visited atolls. Fakarava definitely has a bad feeling these days.

Those stranded boats are usually due to lack of experience and training. In Europe no one would charter you a boat without a licence. Need to know at least how tides and currents work, how to read weather forecasts, and have previous anchoring experience, which is hours and hours. On top of everything are procedures that should always be followed, like to have someone on anchor watch at all times. Sailing is not only fun. There is a lot of responsibility involved as well. I have had even to prove on exam that can rescue MOB when on sail only as such situation might happen.
