One Nation One Election - the idea of holding simultaneous elections to the Lok Sabha and state Assemblies - will save manhours and ensure smooth implementation of policy decisions, the BJP said on Thursday. The Congress hit back, calling the move a "weapon of mass distraction" and a "hot air balloon that will lead to its natural death".

I mean, look at the standard of the anchor, especially Rajdeep. He doesn't seem to know anything about the issue of "One Nation, One Election." Whatever he was quoting during the debate was utter rubbish, without any factual or relevant points about the subject. On the other hand, the BJP spokesperson's arguments were quite relevant and to the point regarding "One Nation, One Election."
One of the questions raised by Supriya was that the report itself has not addressed the issue of "One Nation, One Election" because it does not cover the elections of local governments, such as Panchayats. However, she seems to be unaware that Panchayat elections are conducted by the State Governments, not by the Central Government or the Central Election Commission. Additionally, elections at the local government level do not require the same level of disruption to the country as we see during national elections.
You can clearly understand the misguided mindset of Rajdeep when he started the debate by calling "One Nation, One Election" a kind of 'jumla'. I mean, how can you start such an important debate with a dismissive term like that? People believe he is a serious anchor, but in reality, he seems no less than a puppet of the Congress.
Furthermore, we do need to respect the "One Nation, One Election" committee report. This concept is not something new in our country. It's been discussed since the independence of India, and it will surely help the country in the long run.
Lastly, I couldn't help but laugh at the comment made by one person during the debate, who said that from 2013-2018, he had conducted several seminars on this issue, but BJP did not act on it then. Now, they want to bring it up. I want to ask that respected person: Does it really matter when someone raises the issue ? Shouldn't the idea be implemented when a special committee is consulted, regardless of who spoke about it earlier? Just because they didn’t listen to you back then, does that make the concept of "One Nation, One Election" bad for the country? 😅

Why do you have two anchors from India Today to counter each other ... both Rahul and Rajdeep are not in good terms.
I don't think one nation one election is a good idea. Having election keeps the local MP and MLA in check. Many times just because election state, or national is around the corner development activity speeds up.
The Local MLA, Corporator and MP all have different roles.
Why conclave brought political leaders for such a sensitive issue. It should be more constructive way by bringing more political analysts, organizations like ADR to make the debate meaningful and logical in a layman manner.
