Вставка
- Опубліковано 22 вер 2020
- Tools used:
BLACK & DECKER 12V Power Drill (with bits that fit chosen screws and a 1” flat wood bit).
CRAFTSMAN 13.0 AMP 7 1/4” Corded Circular Saw
Wood Rasp
Rounded Wood File
PORTLAND SAW 6” Coping Saw w/ High Carbon Steel Blade
WARRIOR Angled Sanding Sponges (150 Grit/Fine)
(4) PITTSBURGH 24” Quick Release Bar Clamps
Materials needed:
(2) Panels of Sanded Plywood
POWERPRO 8 x ¾” T20 Interior Multi-Material Screws
POWERPRO 8 x 1 ½” Exterior Multi-Material Screws
(4) 3” Brass Hinges
(16) ZMAX Large L Angle Brackets
(1) Roll of NEEDLEBOND Interior/Exterior carpet
(1) LOCTITE Spray Adhesive Glue
(1) GORILLA Wood Glue
(2) Slings, Straps or Rope for Front Panels
Measurements:
Below were our initial plywood measurements but as you saw we made some adjustments with the curved cuts and sanding on the back support panels. The below measurements should be adjusted to your specific make/model of SUV. The back of my 2018 Subaru Forester is not level which is why the support panels are various heights.
(1) 31.5” x 42” (Back Top Plywood Panel and Carpet)
(1) 26.5” x 42” (Middle Top Plywood Panel and Carpet)
(2) 16” x 21” (Both Front Top Plywood Panels and Carpets)
(3) 9” x 31.5” (Back Support Panels - these were then cut at an angle - 8.5” on one end and 7.5” on the other. They were then rounded and sanded as shown in the video.)
(1) 5” x 42” (Middle Support Panel)
(1) 5.5” x 42” (Middle Support Panel)

I was dumb lost the password. I would appreciate any tricks you can offer me.
@Kyle Kyle Instablaster :)
@Davis Wilson i really appreciate your reply. I found the site on google and I'm in the hacking process now.
Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Davis Wilson It did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thanks so much, you really help me out!
@Kyle Kyle glad I could help xD
Best mod I seen for a forester! Thank you.
You guys made this look SO easy! I just started my build. I hate that the seats don’t lay flat (I have a 2010 Forester), I had to readjust so many times. Thanks for the inspiration! I hope you guys are still camping in your Subaru!
Very professionally done. Thank you for your significant efforts.
Best I have seen of MANY good ones here on YT! Thanks!
This is exactly the kind of design I’ve been so desperate to work out! Thank you so much! You’ve just solved my biggest problems lol
Wonderful! I'm so glad it helped! Good luck with your build!
Those straps are a brilliant idea!
Thanks Rachel, this is great!
Of course! Glad you like it! :)
thanks for sharing, smart build :)
This is exactly what I’m looking for but I don’t have the tools or the skills to do it!
This is beautiful! I am going to build one for my 2018 Ford escape
Very beautiful❤.
Cool video, nice idea!!!!!
I plan to do this too. Thank you for the ideas!
Good idea!
can’t wait to build this in two weeks! Thanks got this video.. i’ve been trying to find a decent one.
That's wonderful! I'm glad it helped! Let me know how it goes! It was so fun to build and totally worth it for car camping.
Thaaaaaaaat eeeeeeezzzzzzz fenñnnnnnnnnnntasticcccccccccccccc , Mate....
👍👍👍👍👍👍💯
Very nice, travel well!
Thanks Kelly! We certainly put it to good use on the road!
Wow. Very inspiring. Thank you.
I just wonder, it there enough room for 2?
Greetings from Germany
My partner and I are quite cozy in it. I am 5'1" and he is 6'2".
🤝 foarte mișto 🤝
Exactly how I did it in my forester, except mine is only as wide as the wider half of the back seat. Single sleeper 😴
Wow! Excellent build, guys! Thank you for sharing! Questions: 1) What advantage is there in using 2 instead of 1 piece of wood plank where the 2 are attached to your headrest rods? 2) Near the end of your vid, where you used a pair of small bits of wood to elevate the middle plank to better clear the wheel well(?), did you use these because of an inaccurate measurement or because that part of the rear cargo space is not perfectly flat/parallel to the ground? 3) Now 2 years after your constructed your bed platform, how has it held up and have you made any changes to it?
Thank you again! I just bought a new Forester and I'm looking around at various folks' rear cargo space bed platforms for ideas. Yours looks like an excellent one! Cheers! Liked and subscribed.
Where did you buy the black straps from??
Nice I want to make it in my bolero .
Sweet! Let me know how it goes!
What about storage space under the new one? There is also a lot of room.
Will these measurements work for a 2015 Forrester? Thanks
Hi Rachel. I have xc90’suv. Want to copy. Do you have measurements for the part 1 conversion that I could repeat? Kind regards Dave
Well done, but that doesn't look easy to me.
4runner 5th gen?
Nice! I have liked and subscribed. I made a quick foldout platform and was interested to see how others did it. I need to be able to fold mine up and pop seats up to drive kiddies around so it’s nice and flexible :)
Fantastic! Mine is able to stack behind the backseats just in case there was a full car. I haven't had to travel with it in that way yet, but if I did I would have to use a rooftop cargo container for the foam mattress, etc. I'll check out your channel, for sure!
I really like this i am from india
Nice! We've been to India a few times and have wonderful friends over there. It's probably our favorite place we've ever traveled! Thanks for watching!
do you have enough space for things (clothes, food, electronics, water etc.)?
We do, yes. If you watch the second video (link above) you can see how we utilized storage boxes, etc. :)
What size topper did you use? full or queen? thanks.
Full :) 3 inches thick.
love the music
You do know, don't you, that the xc90 seats fold down completely flat to make a comfortable bed??
Come see mine
While I love this video and applaud your efforts, I do not see this as an "easy" DIY build. I do not have most of the tools you use in the video and I have never done construction work before. But thanks for sharing anyway.
We've never done construction work before either, which is why I felt it was easy. I totally understand your point of view though! Thanks for watching! :)
All of the tools, glue, and screws needed to make this can be had for under $100, they won't be top of the line but they'll get the job done. As for knowing how to use them, I'd invest about 10 minutes into learning how to use a drill, 20 minutes into learning how to use a circular saw, and an hour into learning how to make good cuts and measurements. You can do it man, just takes a little effort 👍
@@dylanlucas3397 You got a rotary saw for under $100?
@@RichGarner I don't recall them using that tool, but I suppose I could've missed it. But yes you can find them, Harbor Freight, Facebook Marketplace, and Craigslist are your best friends when it comes to cheap tools
