Hey guys! I’ve uploaded a new video addressing the questions you’ve asked after my video on leaving AIIMS Nagpur.
ua-cam.com/video/NOljqvQVP8M/v-deo.htmlsi=csxhb4tzpAv931gs
Congracts ❤
I left Aiims Delhi Medicine Last year, and your story just matches mine.Once I was told "See even if you are hell tired, your works are your priority.Your work might be 48 hours at a stretch, but patient care must not be hampered".
I also don't want to hamper,no one would do that intentionally for sure, but when a resident works for 48 hours at a stretch,You know,my brother, how it feels...It is more of mental anguish than physical burnout.Every other profession gets 8 hours work,8 hours rest, but we are not eligible for the basic rights just because we are "Doctors, next to God" and blah blah.
Your decision is fine,Mental peace is the most priority, than anything, degree, career, amount of salary/stipend,relationships everyrhing, everything.I'm taking Derma this year in state College.Best of luck for your Medicine Journey, your new residency life.Hope to meet someday in future.
What u r doing now?
Thanks fir sharing your story,
Totally agree with all the points
Hope you found your peace
can you plz explain why these things happen during pg. , do the seniors have power to affect your academic or force you to do 36hrs duty.....and how to tackle these things
mostly these hectic 48h shifts are only for 6months right?
after that new pgs arrive and work load decreases am i right
also one you complete pg, u can be more free
long hrs for 3yrs or even after that?
i don't know about aiims just asking
Only in the west
You're a topper , you dont need the branch, the branch needs you. It takes guts to take a decision like this and courage only favors the brave. Hoping to see you soon . And thank you for calling out and telling about the inhuman conditions which residents face on a daily basis.
I think the government should make proper reforms on the working hours, hygiene, mental health etc of residents so that they don’t leave their seat out of toxicity, and also wasting a resident’s years of hardwork to crack a competitive exam,
It’s indirectly loss of a resident
@@nehadas2931 Absolutely agreed,
There should be specific judicial reforms for residents, after all we too are humans first residents later.
Every government official has mandatory work hours beyond which they should not be worked. Except Doctors, who they'll just milk the last ounce of their willpower. In Jipmer it's very normal for a surgery resident to not go home for 2-3 days. One JR in my unit could not leave the hospital for 4 days straight because of work. All this for no hands surgeries at all. The profs and senior SRs will hog all the surgeries. If anyone wants to pursue surgical branches, I will suggest go to state government medical colleges, atleast they'll give you ample hands on. One exception is Opthal in AIIMS Delhi, where every gets good hands on experience. Guys do your research before joing any college
Hi Maaz, Im Dr. Ashutosh, a 3rd year General Medicine resident doing his DNB. Firstly, congratulations on not just succeeding at getting a great rank, but also showing an incredible amount of maturity. You are absolutely right when it comes to choice of institution or MD vs DNB. Its the passion and confidence for the career you choose that matters, and not the institution. And your institution does matter in a major way- not in as much in prestige, but in toxicity. You have to enjoy the process to learn Medicine, for you to come out as a polished and confident physician at the other end. All the best for your future endeavours.
The same condition in GMC Nagpur. Toxic af. Doctors in GMC Nagpur don't have basic manners of talking and seniors are toxic. Hirerachy is more important than saving patients.. it's disgusting tbh... I wish saving lives was goal in any healthcare set up than frivolous stuff. You have my absolute respect for choosing humanity and humility. Bless you.
Agreed
I want to know very simple one thing .
If every one is victim than who is the culprit .
Current year’s victim becomes next years Culprit for sure.
This chain has to be broken ASAP..
All MC-BC culture.....slang words like rouine in a statement....and addresses juniors as ' tu '.....this is very common in North India.... thanks to South states with our own native state languages, we don't insult atleast
1000% agree and I’m about to graduate from there lol
Hi Guys
Thank you so much for all the love and support-it’s been truly overwhelming. I’m so happy to see so many people reaching out and sharing their own experiences. It’s amazing to know we’ve all faced similar challenges and can relate to this journey.
I’ve decided to continue sharing updates on my journey here, hoping it might help other students make solid decisions for themselves.

Hey, kudos to you. I left surgery at AIIMS delhi last year so I can relate very well. It's not easy and it takes a lot of guts. All the best!
Take MD MEDICINE from JNMCH,AMU...... very good college......very nice Environment......No toxicity
Thank you,Doctor. Glad I stumbled across your video on YT on one of those days feeling lowest. You made the decision and walked away from your dream branch from a premier institute many dreams of. Given your reasons as why you did. Commendable indeed. Not many people can do it. Mad respect. But ofcourse, they lost you! Many of us can relate ourselves and the ugly truth. Realising how the actual world it is and how suffocating the environment we live and work in is.Alas! We are also important too. After all, flesh and blood like all others. But who cares in this field? As much as I love medicine, I would also like to put myself first. I mean cmon we are important too our lives matter as well. Gone are our basic needs. Oh,how I miss that version of myself how excited I was to go to med school and yet at the end only to meet these horrors. Little did I know. I do not want to lose myself in this process. I don’t want to become like them or whosever trained them to become cold.I don’t want to lose the charm of being a doctor..a caregiver. But certainly, not at the cost of this. Nhi jeena h mujhe aisi jindagi yaar. I’d like to be a better person and not resemble the angry or that old frustrated one who feels gratified to bits while making/ watching other trainees suffer. (I do not mean your faculty/department).We can be the change ..well at least if we try. It’s important to stand up for ourselves and not always agree with them people if indeed we feel that that is not true. It is okay. PG is not the end of the world! One life is all we have got to live and it is a gift .I hope more and more people realise that. I once read somewhere we doctors have shorter life span than the average population. Life is to be enjoyed, not just endured. So much we do and give to be what ..least appreciated. Forget even appreciating , that barely exists when they are glorifying the overworking culture etc Makes sense why more and more doctors are leaving the country. Working under constant stress and feeling overwhelmed every now and then. I mean not only work be it cracking the exams; entrances / university semesters / hostile work environment etc. Constant stress. Even after sacrificing so much. I do understand and it is a stressful profession. I want to ask my colleagues when was the last time they actually sat down for a good old dinner with their loved ones? I am sorry but i don’t remember the last time I had a good meal with family. Being away from home unable to see my mom growing old and be with her when she needs most. I agree you said it is a choice We all have been given one. I mean God gave humans free will so that they could make their choices. Unpleasant and unacceptable things continue as long as we allow them to (not only in medicine) and only we can put a stop. I took a depression test and the results tell me I have the symptoms lol% Excuse me I’m saying a lot but I feel like putting some of my thoughts over here just so. I just want to live a happier and better life. I wish you all the very best doctor and may you reach greater heights living your best life. ISA He knows you through and through. My goodness a long note written here .Thanks once again, really appreciate it.❤
Hi sir this toxicity is flaunted by people as something as pride which is very wrong thank you for standing up for this sir big effort by you sir can make difference keep it up you will succeed in life
@@jasminebs6401 Thanks for sharing your story, also its people like us who have a different perspective will bring some change,I wish you happiness,
Always remember freedom is the best thing a person can have.
Big salute Doctor. Idk why people think that if he went through it, then others should too. People should broaden their mindset. Aapne iske bare meh bola, thank you so much. Because not all people think the same as you. Agar aap jese log hote toh kaam karna bohot achhe hote.
Thanks for the nice words
Mam can you plz explain why these things happen during pg. , do the seniors have power to affect your academic or force you to do 36hrs duty.....and how to tackle these things
The system should be ashamed of loosing a person with a great potential like yours.
Not your loss.!!!
NMC , where r you guys ??
@@DRRAJIVDHAWAN Thankyou sir for the support ♥️
It's a matter of serious concern
Doctors not treating doctors properly is the root cause of the erosion of this profession
100% Agreed Sir
NMC is busy making prepone postpone game for the Yr 2025😅
All india topper INICET AIR 35 ..huge respect sir ❤🎉
I can understand the pain sir but we know you will make it finally..🙏🏻🙏🏻
We should never be gaslit by toxic environment ki sab toh tolerate kar hi rhe h toh main kyun nhi. Stress changes us. We should listen to our body. It continuously tells us where it wants to be. The body rejects the toxic place. We should act on it. U did. U r brave and u r a great doctor to urself and to society. A great asset.
appreciate you bro!!! all this can be changed only by the man in the mirror , it needs to change from us !! i will never give unnecessary stress to my junior whatsoever.
You're a worrier sir
People like you are rare in either way
Great people don't come from a great institute
Great people come with a great and brave mindset
❤
Bro, thanks for coming up with the topic. From my experience choosing a branch - especially medical side is about strong academics, average patient load, average hands on. Academics is the game changer. Hands will come up with experience. Selecting colleges with heavy patient load and less number of pgs will increase the mental stress and physical stress. (Mulitplies with toxic seniors/ faculties)
Well said!
Surely quality of life during PG in medical colleges across the country is very poor.
Surely this should be questioned.
People should not take pride in getting tortured in the name of gaining a degree in medicine from a reputed institute.
InshaAllah you will do well!
Exactly 💯
@fariyaashrafkazi6185 if you consider any situation in our country you will fill that changes are necessity
@@paintingsandcraftMam can you plz explain why these things happen during pg. , do the seniors have power to affect your academic or force you to do 36hrs duty.....and how to tackle these things
Your decision is absolutely correct... life is more important boss....❤❤
you dont even know how great and ispirational impact this video has!
Very true sir!! Someone should bring reform to this toxicity ,its crazy how it has been normalised in the community and we survive through rather than living and enjoying the process despite achieving ur dream; indeed at the end of the day the fire in you which decides on how good of a doctor u r gonna be !! Keep going sir🙌🏻
You are a great human being above all. ❤
Glad that such people exist.❤
I am a Clinical and Radiation Oncologist from West Bengal and I can appreciate the level of maturity and courage required to articulate what you have expressed here. Proud of you brother... Hope our paths cross some way or other in future.
Thankyou for the solidarity & appreciation❤
I too hope the same
Dada How is Radiation Oncology as a branch if want to work Kolkata or nearby district? No scope in tier 4 town/villege?
you know your worth and i am thankful that you spoke out on the toxic workplace. it is the same or even worse everywhere in india
Woahhhh 🔥 Not everyone has the courage to do what their heart wants to and i am glad you did prioritise your peace above everything ! Hats off 🎉
Hi Dr Maaz..
You are very brave to call things out, and take up a stand for yourself.. the things which you are saying is a basic necessity of life.. its not a luxury . If we are not able to eat sleep smile and be happy then are we human enough.. that too in our 20s...
Kudos to you to shine light on such an important and crucial topic... Rest assured you will shine ahead.. the level of understanding which you have in life at this stage is enough to prove that you are a content and calm human being..grateful to have come across this video.. All the best Dr.
Hugs to u bro!❤...the fact tht u took a stand and chose to leave is commendable...respect to u for speaking out!
❤
Now that's how and what a top intellect should approach the things
So much to learn for everyone here.
I can relate with these thoughts of residency yet i am still here dying to get there anyhow.
Thanks doc.
Totally agree with ur thoughts..
U r a great human being..
Keep shining!✨🤍
As long as you make sure you do what you love,
there will always be people who will love what you do.
Keep flourishing sir.
Agreed💯
Salute to you for speaking out. Government should do something to give good working environment for residents. And because of the bond in state colleges residents cant go out even if they cant withstand this toxic environment.
Therefore, unfortunately, a few end up taking their own lives, which is never the right choice. Life is so much bigger than a degree
Totally with you. If you are not putting up with these inhumane situations that shows what an elevated mindset you have. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
All the best sir..u r too raw..real..u will do well in life..God bless ❤
Thanks
Well said sir !! 💯
I can see pain and feeling in his eyes. Im sure things will go well in Mumbai brother 💪🏾
You are such a kind man Jo reality doctors ki honi chahiye or kesa hme hona chahiye as a good doctor everything you are explained in such a good manner and I very impressed. You are not a good doctor you are a good man with very beautiful mind set I’m happy to seeing your all videos and I thank to you bhai masha allah. I’ll also prepare for neetpg 25 insha allah i also get such a good rank 👍🏻
Mashallah..that’s an amazing and inspiring rank which you got and more amazing is the way you took such a bold decision. You spoke out many suffering residents’ heart out here. All the best for your future, inshallah you’ll do much better in the clg you aspire for. 😇
I also resign aiims delhi 1 month back obes and gynae department got admission in may 2024 inicet becoz of same reason...its truely hurting that most of the field have same condition ...big salute for taking this step and telling all the things which you gone through...you choose your life brother...best of luck
Thankyou for sharing
Correct decision liya hai. Mental peace n apni jaan se zada koi chiz imp nai hai. I changed my stream from surgery to Ophthalmology for same reason. I need peaceful life Insha Allah. Alhamdulillah I'm enjoying my residency. Allah ka shukr hai 😊💕💕
Its really diaheartening to see that brilliant minds like you sir are leaving top institutes like aiims because the basic necessities are a luxury there. And hats off qnd all the power to you that you did this. Health system in india really needs ro change !
You'll indeed do great sir
All the best wishes🙌
It hit me when you said about EMPATHY❤. Dil marke ki khud ko kho diya toh kya paaya! A doctor here as well . Stay blessed . You deserve peace 🤍
💯💯
After so many cases found in the work area , and review committees must recommend a good work schedule to give relief to the Doctors ! In India it’s possible as we have sufficient manpower !
Inadequate manpower was never a problem in a country like ours where people are fighting for jobs, its the intent of higher authorities who dont feel a need to provide
Kudos to you man.... You' ll do the best in your life whatever you do.. Stay good!
Totally sympathise with you.Recently NMC has outlined the duty hours of residents why it is not folliowed? Resident doctor association should take up these matters. Unfortunately residents are treated as cheap labour in most hospitals.
NMC is only making these rules but they are not being followed anywhere . There is no proper system to check if the rules are implemented.
Mere guidelines will do nothing,
There should be strict laws for working hours of residents who are dying for a degree.
You are a top ranker and you will shine inshallah whereever you go
Coming from a ranker like you it must be true
I m a doctor too when working 36 hrs straight duty in emergency where everyone crying shouting to check the patients , and some of them bought dead when they reach hospital when we sadly declare death for someone with so much rush for other we do really lose our composure …… general public doesn’t know but with duty hrs we need study too for exams
With worse work life situations handling public handling patients handling their attendees handling profs handling exams handling research thesis handling personal issues we do became irritated we too are human beings and sometime we do lose composure
I was once a very well to do manner person before I joined residency now I don’t know y I have changed sometimes or most of the I became irritated lose my patience when patients behave rudely or ask politely for something they don’t understand
When I come back home I rewind everything in those 36 hrs duty an I feel apologetic unhappy 😔 sorry 😞 and feel this isn’t me type feeling….. for my behaviour 😢 now even if I try control the residency made me like I unconsciously loose my patience for sometime…… it’s harsh 😢 and no one in the world understand our situations feelings 😢….. mental health issues mood swings depression anxiety anger issues 😢…….. it’s bad it’s harsh ………..
More power to you, brother. The fact that you’re thinking this way shows you are a sensitive and empathetic human being. I hope these thoughts never fade away, and you emerge as a great physician.
You are definitely going to be a much more successful person in future for the clarity you have for what you want and what you don't. 🎉
Hi Maaz... First of all heartiest congratulations for cracking INICET with such a gr8 rank. Its so nice to see you taking a stand against toxicity. MBBS, DNB medicine myself. Trust me, at the end, its the skills you acquire that matter. And being the super intelligent doc that you are, you will surely rock. Best wishes...
Thanks for acknowledging ❤

As ur fellowmate I can completely understand what u r going throw that’s why I didn’t choose the college which am getting and started preparing again this year bcz I know what it feels to be there where u feel smiling and going to canteen to drink tea is a luxury and u r going to miss meals and meals where 3 times food is a luxury at intership I realised am not ntrested in working for long hour shifts and now dropping idea of taking clinical branch thoda kam Kamaunga waise bhi ek amount ke baas paisa sirf bank me rahega bur khush to rahunga .
Which college are u trying to get next year sir ,which college u rejected this year

Really inspiring Dr Maaz.Something we all can relate to .This systemic toxicity has to be done away with.It is high time we chalenge these old norms which have stopped serving is
This is about Indians mentality..will never change…..
Thankyou for this . I was at a point where I needed to hear this from someone ….I think if u you believe in universe it will give you an answer in some or the other way . .got my answers
Glad to hear this❤
Kudos to you 👏 you didn't take unjust. May God bless you .
Honestly it's a great step 👏👏, the name of the institution and degree is just so superficial for people around you that they will judge for leaving or not getting it, but it's not worth your life, it's a good trend I am seeing nowadays that students prioritise their life than degree or colleges, end goal should be to be happy and satisfied. Sacrifices are part of journey but If you don't feel worth, there's no point
due to bond policies some people can't even leave the seat and they continue to work in toxic and inhumane conditions.
Therefore unfortunately few end up doing suicides, which is never a right choice
Life is too big than a degree
Many state its as high as 50 lakhs 😢
Sir due to these toxic conditions my hope to become a mbbs doctor is spoiled...so I joined bhms this year😢😢😢 god bless u sir 🙏
Completely resonate with your thoughts! Thanks for sharing this
The sad part is whenever one student leaves this seat due to toxicity, there are thousands of other candidates ready to fill those seat even if they have to suffer, such is the competition and situation here in India
Sad reality of our country where we have so limited opportunities so people are risking everything to make it.
Every bit of word that you've said is as real as this universe..👍🏻
Finally someone said it out.
Mam can you plz explain why these things happen during pg. , do the seniors have power to affect your academic or force you to do 36hrs duty.....and how to tackle these things
So glad that you spoke about it, totally agree with what you said, there should be basic human conditions atleast , seniors and the system need to understand this & this mindset that they went through it so others should also that itself is wrong, exactly happiness is much more important, it doesn’t matter whether its dnb or md, nobody remembers the college, what people will see is how good one is with patients and understanding their problems. You spoke exactly what i feel in my heart that some hospitals are overhyped for no reason, always follow your heart
Well the fact is , it's the story of most of the Govt medical top institutes , I have seen my seniors suffering soo much , makes me buckled up.
Bro me being a doctor myself i can feel and understand your pain.
You have taken the right choice bro we are with you, just be strong
Lots of love❤
Be Bold... thank you Sir ❤
Great respect to you sir ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Thank you so much for sharing openly the harsh reality of these so called top institutions in India
I left India midway during pg .8 feel relaxed. Can't bear the toxicity
Hope you found better place and residency
Thanks for sharing your experience.. As a parent of a medical aspirant I will show my son this video and assure him that we will support him in any such decision in the future .. it’s your sanity which matters other things are secondary .. May God guide you to the best possible path

So proud of you sir 👍🏻 …. Really a big call to take
Salute to you for taking stand for yourself bro after giving up on many ppls dream branch and dream college🫡
I think Medicine dept in almost every central govt hospitals are toxic 😢 Good luck ,i know you will get good college through NEET PG 2024
can you plz explain why these things happen during pg. , do the seniors have power to affect your academic or force you to do 36hrs duty.....and how to tackle these things
36hrs shift will be there no matter what..but senior who's mean or these sensitive ppl nowadays calling "toxic" will be helpful later so be patient i would say or if you can't you have every right to leave cuz it's individual decision@@wakeupandlearn
Totally with you on this.🙏
Sadly this is the reality at most of the medical schools in India ,but many doesn’t have the courage to come out and address like this .But yes ,you have my prayers brother ,best wishes for your future , you have own as a person already
I didn't even look for the video, nor am I from this field.I was searching for my exam prep.May God make it easy for you and those near you.

Some people justify this toxicity in medical college (whether in ug or pg) saying that it is necessary, it will help you to become a great doctor. And all this time i wondered that how is that even possible, how a toxic environment can make someone a good doctor. A Doctor must be caring and sensitive and have sympathy.
Always choose Peace over Stress ❤

I quit DrNB neurosurgery in blore for this very reason

As a medical student, our concern is stop normalising leaving seats in premium institutes and that too in such top branches, be it due to any reason.
Bcoz once you leave the seat, that gets wasted and another deserving student who could have utilised that doesn't get the chance.
Great you had the courage to take this decision. Especially, even after getting such a great rank, you had to undergo this. However, before you choose the college and branch, I feel these things should be looked prior.
Anyways all the best for your future 🙌
Hats off to your guts and the way you presented this topic which is so very important to convey all pg aspirants. Loads of love Bhai. And all the best for your future. Aap bahot acha karoge.❤

Well it’s harsh truth in India how they treat doctors I don’t understand why can’t they have proper management for budding doctors ? We need someone to take stand against system.
you should have done plab or usmle conditions in India are like this only everywhere whether u do md medicine or donot do or just work as a junior resident 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

Bhai totally agree with u💯
This is the condition in most of Govt Medical Colleges. Some people may call it toxic but it is part of training . I have dealt with all these things in busiest medical colleges of Mumbai - LTMMC. The confidence you develop after passing residency phase is unmatchable. Broad specialty need to be done in govt setup. DNB hospitals don’t have broad specialty exposure at all.
Proud of you brother..❤
Fortune favours the brave... I'm sure you'll do something great in future
It's a very hard decision to take but as we say strong people have strong mindset and you are one of them 🔥🔥.
Your way of thinking regarding life is very good toxicity is not the way to success it's only makes you insensitive. You will be more successful and happy person after your residency ❤️❤️
Bro u really have guts respect..
All the prayers bro ❤
I left jipmer for the same exact reasons bro a couple of months back. I preferred my own health over my degree afterall I am the who’ll be looking after my parents. Heads up brother
Thankyou for sharing
It takes a lot of courage to seek and speak truth. U have really given peace to urself and other co -pgs in diff colleges around the globe. A good behavior and character is the most imp pre- requisite for a good human being and for a doctor, that has to be the topmost priority, along with the sincerity which naturally almost every doctor carries. May Almighty bless you with the place u deserve! Keep up good work.
❤
Another hot issue is on call duty. In most of the instances, calls do come frequently. But we are told that since this is on call, we have to work longer hours.
Alhmdulillah ❤
