I still remember seeing you play on top of a shipping container on a very cheap & fragile drumkit, showing off your amazingly fast double stroke technique.
I'm glad a pro like you has an adequate kit now, that's in correlation with his skills.
After years of taking a hiatus from active drumming, & focusing more on learning other instruments as well like guitar etc, I finally cannot resist anylonger to start actively playing again. Although I never really stopped drumming. Either I would programm drum tracks on my computer or put on my headphones & figure out a song by just playing drums completely unplugged. lol
I don't even need a double bass pedal, I can do fast double bass just on the floor anyways, which blows some peoples minds. lol
Drumming is very therapeutic & can relive a lot of stress. Even though I used to primarely play mostly metal & rock back in the day, this time I would like to study jazz drumming as well. Since my journey as a musician has humbled me in a positive way & made me more appreciative to be more openminded to other genres & playstyles.
I'm thinking of getting a Tama 22" Imperialstar 6 piece kit with Meinl Crash Cymbals to enhance the already included Meinl series.
Plus, personally I think Meinl is one of the best brands for Crash Cymbals. Although with Splash & Chinas you are mostly better of with Wuhans or Millenium for the China & Sabian or some other oriental brands for the splash.
Great that you have your own drum school/course now.
    Cheers Wanja

Thank you! I wish you all the best and good luck with picking up the sticks again :)
Btw my drumset is still the same - but I got waaaaay better cymbals now from Zultan Cymbals (I actually like them a lot more than the Meinls I had, but that is of course a matter of taste ;).

@@wanjanechtangroeger No wayyy...I can hardly believe that lol.
May I ask what brand of kit you have & how you were able to make a visually mediocre kit sound so professional & good?
Obviously drum heads help a lot & using good mics is also common sense.
But there must be a secret Im not getting...
Maybe you oil your drums with an endangered fire ant nectar. lol
But I like your humblness as a musician. Since in the end it all comes down to the player & not how expensive or good an instrument is.
Btw you should check out Nargaroths Sommer song.
Near the end is an insane double bass pattern that will destroy your legs.
Thought it might serve as inspiration for you.
      Peace

@@SquidwardLSDSquirtingOctopussy My drums are Mapex M Birch. I think the main factor for the sound is that I usually tune my toms in a certain way - bottom skin relativewly tight, top skin very loose.

Mindblowing how one can get so much out of a "mediocre" kit with very little effort but the right amount of tinkering & experimenting.
I wonder, do you have a band or released some material I could check out?
Either way, thanks for taking the time to answer your subscribers & fans.
Not many channels of that magnitude do that.
I wish you all the best with your future musical endeavors & the journey of being a musician itself.
All the best to you. : )

Hej Wanja! Do you have any recommendations for electronic drum kits that are good for playing black metal? I'm asking for myself, as I want to play, but I live upstairs in a small apartment building. I don't have space to play on a real drum set.

    • @wanjanechtangroeger
      @wanjanechtangroeger  3 роки тому +2

Hi! I don't have much experience with e-drums! Soundwise, I haven't heard an e-drumset sounding good with blast beats, but for practise purposes to train blast beats, double bass etc almost any e-drumset or even just practise pads do the job ;)

I would go with an Alesis Strike Pro SE over anything else unless you want to drop g's on a TD-50 with add-ons. The reason I would choose the Alesis is the realistic sizes of the toms, the more realistic feeling mesh pads, and the decent sounds. I use one and while it's no replacement for acoustic, it serves its purpose very well!
