I watched a lot of narrow hem tutorials today and so far your method for starting is the easiest and cleanest! Thank you! I'm sewing handkerchiefs and they're not perfect however they look much, much nicer after using your method. I want to sew doll clothes as well, and this skill will be good to master.
I feel I must tell you how much I love your channel because you are wonderfully knowledgeable on your topics and I'm learning so much from you. I do have to say however, that I could not subscribe to many channels because I simply found too many people's voices too harsh and annoying to listen to for the required amount of time. You have such a delightful soothing voice that listening is a pleasure and I never tire of listening to you. Thank you for your wonderful channel.
I Love that you are so honest about these not being easy to use and not just trying to get ppl to buy them! i have the set and it took me a little while to get the hang of them but i now am pretty good at using them!!! practice practice practice!!! i wouldnt say it makes perfect but pretty close to it!! you are awesome i absolutely love your products! and thanks so much for the tutorials!!!
I have viewed a few videos on how to use the rolled hem foot and I was close to giving up till I found this video. I now have very nice looking hems all thanks to this video. Thank you so much. :)
Thank you so much! I have been looking for a video to explain how to do the corners for a rolled hem scarf for AGES!!!!! This is amazingly helpful!!! Your explanation was really good! Thank you!!!

yes, I too have both the pressure feet and was wondering what is the difference? I still will have to use both of them alternatively today and see the dirrfence. Till now I thought it was just that one is little broader then the other! 😀
@@MadamSew Me too. I've been looking for how to do the corners for a while. This is going to be so useful for home-sewn napkins, scarves, and handkerchiefs. Thanks so much!
I just got the 32 foot set last week and I was super excited that it included these feet! I'll be using them along with this tutorial to finish a project I've been putting off for a few years now.
You are so cute. And informative. This is the best video there is on rolled hemming. You brought up many hints that others didn't on how to stay on track with this. Thank you and God Bless.
Thank you - super helpful. Yes, it takes practice. I have had difficulty getting the bottom hem of my blouse out of the presser foot when finished. Not sure how to do that properly. I also tried using a zigzag stitch when using the rolled hem foot and it looks really awesome, especially with a contrasting thread. I recommend trying that. Thanks again!
O M G...Thank you so much I have a 32 feet boxed selection. It didn't come with instructions. I have been pulling out my hair looking for a video, a book or any instructions. All these feet look wonderful. Hope you will show how to use all 32 of these feet. Have subscribed so I will be watching .
Hi, we have a 32 pcs set in our webstore with clear instructions and you can also buy the organizer box with the instructions without the presser feet. madamsew.com/products/upgrade-to-ultimate-presser-foot-set-32pcs
Good morning and I want to thank you for explaining that one is curved and one is flat. I understand that the curved one rolls, but does the flat one do what the rolled one does? Maybe I am confused. After watching some videos, I understand it takes some getting used to this process. Do you think it would be easier for me to get the flat hem foot? I have a babylock which is similar to a brother. I only make quilts, some basic sewing etc, and do applique and embroidering. I have some basic kitchen flour sack towels that need to be cut in half and hemmed. Other than that I think it would be a good tool to have. Appreciate your video
You can also use those sprays to help with ironing, I found especially if you spray then iron, the fabric can become a lot stiffer 🙂 makes working with chiffon somewhat bearable 😅
@@karenneff4935, as Madam Sew stated in the video, you need to practice! Hardly anyone just pops the rolled hem foot onto their machine and makes a perfect rolled hem to start with! Another tip not mentioned in this video is to sew a straight stitch along the edge of the fabric, 1/8th inch, then go back and feed the fabric into the rolled hem scroll. The line of stitching already in place stabilizes the edge that you want to fold over, and helps it fold at the right place. Go very slowly. Decrease the speed that the machine sews, so you are forced to have the time to make the fabric guide properly. Slowly increase the speed at which you sew. I practiced enough that I could start the rolled hem on another piece of fabric butted up to the fabric I want rolled, and just continue stitching, making a backtack once I'm on the fashion fabric. Since I don't use a rolled hem frequently, I will often practice on scraps just to refresh my hands' muscle memory. Or, you could do a rolled hem by hand, because that's sort of not any easier than using the machine, but you can take it with you more easily to sew on while you might be knitting or reading instead.
I love this pressure foot, the problem I face sometimes is too much material gets caught in the curved hem stiches! What would you suggest to save this situation? Thanks.
I really enjoy your explanations, but when the time comes for you to sew the item, your hand is in front of the camera and I cannot see what you are doing. Is there a way you can move the camera for a better view of your sewing technique?
For the flat hem foot you say to start, fold 1/8" but then you say double fold 1/8" (WHICH?) and sew next to the inner fold (is that towards the bulk of the fabric [left] and double folded ? Or towards the inside of the machine [right]...so I did a double fold but it will NOT fit into the curl so I tried single fold, no luck either way :-( I've been trying and trying different ways, tweezers, pulling the thread tails through to try and get it started... if my life depended on this I would be dead :-[ PLEASE post another video with close up shots, stills, and a camera angle not blocked by the working hand! I bought the whole set of feet specifically for the flat hemmer foot and can't get past it to trying the others...
You can use the narrow hemmer feet on a straight stitch machine. The only presser foot that adjusts the position of the fabric under the needle without moving the needle, is the adjustable zipper foot. madamsew.com/products/adjustable-zipper-foot
I bought this set several years ago. I am just now getting around to using it. However the feet will not click on to my machine. I have a Singer. Is there another attachment I need? Maybe a different holder for the feet?
“Hi Mary, I’ve never sewed with crimplene but I’ve heard it’s a fabric that is easy to sew with, if it’s the heavier kind. Have you tried to sew with it on your machine? If so, what kind of trouble did you encounter? If you can give me some more details about what is going wrong or is difficult, I might be able to give you some tips.
