How to get cinamatic footage.
Live on tropical island
Aquatic Synthesis It does help! I’m sure there are some awesome places near you that would do the trick though 🔥🚁
:)
I recently bought this drone mostly for the purpose of hovering it high above the ground and recording short videos whenever we get one of the vibrant fiery type of sunsets
If I ever try cinematic work I’ll definitely revisit this video, it was very insightful
Philip, I just want to tell you how helpful your advice is. I watched this while my first drone was being shipped to me. I am a decent photographer but never flown a drone before. My first flight was in the desert east of San Diego last weekend and I was muttering “ don’t flick the sticks!” I used all the grids, set up my shots and tried not to adjust. The results were better than expected and where I wasn’t smooth enough, a good learning experience. I copied you and used P mode mostly to make myself fly it more smoothly. Thank you.
One of the best messages I've got! You're welcome, I'm really happy I can help you with your drone footage! Flicking those sticks is bad, I'm glad that stuck in your mind! Thank You for dropping by and leaving such a great comment 🔥
Extremely useful. Do not flick the sticks. The lesson is understood. Seriously the best drone shots. Location helps too ! Thanks for your tutorial.
Thank You! Yes, location is 50% of the shot!
Just bought a mavic mini today, this is helpful. Can’t wait to learn how to fly this thing.
You’ll love it. Fly it as much as possible and you’ll be a pro in no time!
This was a really informative video. I love how versatile the Mini is. It definitely isn't a professional tool in general, but it certainly can produce some really great images and videos.
Drone Geek Lancaster Yes I agree with you, if used in a professional manner it can really deliver some great looking footage that is very usable and most of the time indistinguishable from the more expensive pro drones, especially with the addition of manual video control recently added. I have this little guy with me most places I go. Thanks for dropping by 🔥
Thanks, greetings from Libya!
Thank You! Greetings from Poland 🇵🇱
Ive been trying to learn how to do this on my mavic mini thank you!
You're welcome! It's really simple, set it up like in my setup video, and just be as smooth as humanly possible, then it'll be so Hollywood you won't believe it. It's important to let the sticks come back in a very, very controlled motion, then it'll look perfect.
Well done, Phil. Good facilitation - tell us what you are about to do and why, then demonstrate. Nice job.
Thank You Ralph! This was a fun place to fly!
Thank you Phillip, you explained it very well. 👍
Yes combined movements - tilting the gimbal during the flight - look more professional.
Thank You! Yes, I recommend a maximum of two movements at the same time. Forward and tilt, or up and tilt, or forward and up. Once you have that down and feel it is smooth, try adding a third movement in to the flight, just remember to plan the shot so not to course correct 🔥
👍

Great video! Really helped to better understand how to get the smooth shots. Just got the Mavic Mini and I had not used the pitch wheel for the camera yet when flying. Still getting a bit use to just flying the Mini in general. Watched a few of your other videos and looking forward to more of your content! Really appreciate that you just dive right in and start explaining everything.
Thank You! It was a lot of fun to film, especially in such a stunning location! The pitch wheel is so important and of course how delicately you use it. There is more coming soon, thanks for dropping by 🔥
@@PhillipSkraba Awesome, looking forward to it!
Omg😍😍 perfect is not even a word to describe this video and the view wish I could take some cool video footage like u did mate
Maz Ali Thank You for the great message! Well, I think if you follow my tips in this video you’ll manage that with no problem 🔥
I've been using the pitch, but not nearly enough I reckon! Playing video games like Skyrim have made controlling the sticks easier than I thought it would be coming in with no drone experience before getting a mavic mini :) Great idea with these shots! I'll give them all a try next time I take the drone out!
The Adventures of Zoom and Bettie I’ve been playing Halo and GTA my whole life so I know what you mean, I really feel the sticks, but 3 at a time is still hard, especially slowing 1 or 2 down at the same time, that really screws with my brain. Practice and being gentle on them, that’s the key here 🔑 Thanks for dropping by!
Still amazed at how good the Mini is!
I'm totally blown away myself! Especially now with the manual control in video, it's amazing!
thank you for teaching how to shoot cinematic, I will try this in Osaka Japan.
You're welcome! Osaka Japan, it looks beautiful out there! Have fun!
More great footage of the Seychelles and some good tips. I look forward to your future content and have just subscribed.
Thank You Steve, I really appreciate the sub 💥 I'll make sure to keep pushing out great content for you guys to feast your eyes on!
This is the tutorial every drone videographer needs to see! I applied your tips to my most recent video! Thank you so much for this! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank You! No flicking of the sticks in that film! Gave it a thumbs up! I think you might need to drop the exposure by a stop as it's a pinch too bright, Mini likes doing that. Very smooth work, keep it up!
It’s so beatifull where you lived .! I just bought the mini a few days ago and now learning these move thanks to your video .! Blessings from Puerto Rico cheers 🙌🏽
Carlos J Ortiz it is a beautiful place, I have been a few times and I love it! Thank You, I hope it helps you, I’m sure you’ll get the hang of it, gentle and slow 🔥

Thanks so much! I love this background Music 👌👍
You're welcome, I'm happy I could help! I felt it fitted the drone sequence quite well, thanks 🔥
That was nice, thank you. I'll try to do it this weekend
You're most welcome! Yes, give it a go, just practice and practice until you get those motions really, really smooth. The closer you are to the ground the slower you need to fly, so you can even fly in C mode, I was flying in S mode here as I was quite far away from the ground and needed more speed to make it look like I was moving.
amazing stuff
MisterTracks Thank You! I’m happy you liked it 🔥
Loved this video, I wanted to ask is Mavic Mini still relevant in 2022? I have some nice offer to get it, so I don't know should I get the mini or add more money for mini 2 ? I would like to avoid giving money for 2 (cuz huge difference in my pocket) but if its day and night difference i can do it
Love the video! You should do one on how to export it to different platforms and what FPS and quality works best
Thank You! Well, I guess that really depends on what editor you're working in. I usually upscale to 4k and export for UA-cam. When it comes to fps I film 25fps as I'm in Europe, I rarely slow things down with this guy. Mini 2 around the corner, so this all starts up again soon 😂🙈
Great stuff! Just bought the Mini as my first drone. Got some really nice footage for my nature photography videos 🙂
Thank You! Oh it's a great little drone, have fun with it Martin!
buttery smooth 👍
Thank You!
Thank you.
Needed this.

incredible images of paradise, great mastery of drone flight. I will be tempted to buy this drone.
Thank you for sharing
Thank You, it's well worth it, especially the Mini 2.
Dont know why this video have only 14k views, cuz i find your video more sense than others out there that i watched and learned so much from it considering im all new to this and would love to learn more about cinematic shooting. But of course its not going to be that easy and like u said takes a lot of practice. But i appreciate the tips for beginners like me and making this video👍🏼 i dont normally comment on youtube videos but this one i just really have to. Thanks!
jeffrey bartolo Thank You so much for the great comment! Well, I think if you follow my moves here, be real gentle, delicate with the sticks and do not course correct, you will have some awesome footage fast! Thanks for dropping by and leaving a mark 🔥

youre great, so relaxing feels
Thank You 🔥
Great video and awesome footage.
Thank You Mike!
Thanks for the video!Regardless of the flying tips the footage in realtime is not that good. How do you improve it on the final videos?Do you apply filters on a video programe? What else? Thanks
Sure it's that good! The Mini 2 is even better! Grade is a simple contrast highlights shadows pop, that's it. No filters, except for a Freewell ND. That's it. I've done lots of videos on the Mini 2 you can check out, it applies to the Mini 1 too, most of it anyway.
Great videos man!!
I really like your videos, photos and prints(from the other video u uploaded).
Im looking forward to buy the mini 2 thanks to your videos LoL
Thumbs up!!!
Great job you are doing here , thanks again for sharing!!!

Great tips. Can't wait to play with my Mavic mini later on. Do you have a family in Poland?
Thanks Dariusz! Just make sure you're as smooth as butter, no sudden movements and you'll get cinematic footage. Yes, I have family in Lodz. I lived in Wimbledon my whole life, then moved to Lodz to study cinematography, and ended up staying.
Love your content! Just launched my UA-cam and loving my Mavic Mini! Cheers from Las Vegas.
King Arthur McGuire Thank You! That’s so great to hear. Congratulations on the launch, keep it up and be consistent. Vegas, love that place, especially places like Red Rock Canyon 🔥
@@PhillipSkraba Hell yea my man thanks for quick reply you're going to be a big boy on here soon! Ironically my first video was shot at Red Rock Canyon with the Mavic Mini and we had a blast! Footage is so clean unless sun is pointing right at camera. Looking into ND filter options. Such a cool tool. Much love!
Very nice tips man! I’m going to practice!!
Thank You! Have fun with that 🔥
You are a really good cinematic drone pilot :) Suche fine movements on the sticks are not that easy.

him: this is not GTA
me: aww darn it
I wish it was! I love GTA, I have an xbox, and the only games next to it are GTA, RDR and Halo. Those are the only reasons I have it, but since starting UA-cam I think I turned it on once for 5 minutes to try RDR2 and haven't used it since. I'll make time for GTA6 though, that's for sure!

This very smooth and very beautiful. But do u maintain visual line of site with the drone? I’m in the USA and received my part 107 pilots license and we have to maintain visual line of site. So we will have to move out to get some smooth cinematic footage. Lol thanks for your help in showing us how to fly as well as you !
Sure, I have very good eyesight Stella 👹 It’s a very subjective rule, you can always use a spotter with better eyesight 🤷🏻♂️ The bottom line is be safe and considerate, if you’re out 2 miles then sure it’s pretty obvious you’re beyond vlos and can’t see your drone with unaided eyes, nor can your spotter.
Hey dude. I’ve been practising like mad last couple of weeks. My remote actions are all good and I have strong signal on my mavic mini but a lot of my videos have that slight jerky ness to them. Do you have an idea what settings I should do to help that out ? Thanks
If you could upload an example for me to check out I'll be happy to give you some pointers Neil.
as always, very good explained, basically simple things, which must be consequently exercised - we could improve our skills by practicing your hints - thanks :-)

Just got the dji mavic mini and I’m a drone virgin cinematic footage while traveling is my intent so I’m excited to have come across this. Is the gimbal what you’re moving down as the drone was rising?
I'm sure you'll get the hang of it Kiana. Sure, as you rise you can pitch the gimbal down giving it a cool cinematic look.

Very nice video, i notised in the dji fly app when you add music and use the rhytm dots the frames are perfectly in sync , but when you export it to 1080p the sync feels a bit after the frames and feels kinda off ? maybe it's just android or what do you think?
My friend had a similar problem when editing in the app. I'll try it out myself and do a tutorial as I mainly use Premiere Pro to edit everything, but I'll be sure to check it out. I know DJI is very IOS concentrated, but I'm sure the Android version of the app is fine too.
Amazing.. please do more drone shots tutorial if possible ... m planing to get one next month..

Great video!!
Thank you!
Wow amazing video.
Thank You!
Great tutorial. I enjoyed it very much. Now how do you do that circly movement? Where the drone kind of moves slowly in a huge circle.
Thank You! Well, the size of the circle depends on how much your pushing the sticks in. The movement is the made by turning the drone slowly on it's axis whilst at the same time moving left or right. So you'd push your left stick right and your right stick right, it takes a load of practice but when you pull it off at the right speed it looks awesome. It's all about being super duper extra careful with how you handle those sticks, so once you find that speed, hold it.
@@PhillipSkraba thank you so much. I will definitely work on all your tips! 👌
You’re welcome, have fun!
Woow just wow

Lenny Kay thank You 🔥
Perfect content for those truly wanting to shoot great video. You could include some half orbits in next tutorial to show combined movement from beginning as well. I agree. Never, ever change direction during a shot. It becomes TRASH. Thanks...
Thank You! Yes, I will be making a film about orbits, which are usually the hardest to control, for me anyway. Yes!! Course correction will destroy any shot, always a bad choice, unless your drone is in danger or endangering someone.
@@PhillipSkraba I follow what you are saying. We all get caught up in the moment sometime. This is a video I did here in Japan recently that I like. Also filmed with the magic Mini. ua-cam.com/video/hWIaAa3G9aM/v-deo.html

The Mini is a great drone! Thank you, I really appreciate that! Sure, when I get a second I'll pop over. Keep safe!
nice shot bro!
Kevin Kennedy Kie Thank You 🔥
What mode controls do you use? I use 2, and my yaw is on the left, throttle stick. I ask because in the beginning when you were explaining how not to correct your course, you were showing with your right stick.. Or do you mean you wanted to just hover to the left instead of fly forward there..
Sweet
PS: I hope the above makes sense.. Lol
Very nice flying bro, really..
Sweet
I use the same as you, yes, I was just holding it like a game controller I think 🙈 The point I was trying to make was that you shouldn't make any sudden movements whilst flying or even lightly course correct as it'll be visible and no doubt ruin your shot. Thank You, I try to keep it smooth. Thanks for dropping by 🔥

Hopping Frog I’m happy I could help 🔥
So Beautiful
Thank You! The place was so stunning it almost filmed itself 😂
My pro tips: Pinch sticks with index finger and thumb for better control. Combine 3 motions in your shots for more dynamic footage, example moving left while fly up and panning down. Use nd filters for correct shutter speed 180 rule. Use range extender for better signal. Color grade and add cinematic black bars. Flying lower is even more impressive. Gimbal can also pitch up, find option in settings. Need more? Haha
Good stuff, sure! I really hate using index finger and thumb, I get much smoother action just using my thumbs, old school style. 3 motions is great if you're advanced, especially with this little guy, I'd start off with 1, then 2, and if you really feel the need for 3 motions then sure, but it's tricky for beginner flyers. I made a film on awesome filters too, and hell yea that helps a lot to make this footage look a lot smoother 🔥 All settings can also be found in my DJI FLY app tutorial. Thanks for dropping by and thanks for the tips!
Mini camera is good use in 2.7k mode. Quickshop mode is functional enough for beginners
Quickshot is fun, but I always do what I can to fly manual, I love the control.
I passed my pt 107!!!!!!! Thank you!!!!!!!!
Oh yeah!! You're off now!
What is the best free or low cost editor for working on the video footage that you film?
