Great video, very clear and informative. Thanks. Me, I'm just a youthful 66 years, took my drone out the other day after a few weeks of poor weather and struggled with some basic control operations so I watched this and now back up to speed. Keep up the good work.
I hope you all are staying healthy and safe out there! Hopefully, whether you're new to flying drones or not, this helps to fill a void in your likely empty time now that everyone is locked in pretty much! A question I have for you to answer: What drone are you currently flying and for how long?
I have flown the Phantom 3 Standard and Phantom 4 over the last 4 years. Now I fly the mavic air. Your p3s videos helped me so much when I was first starting out!
When I first started flying (not long ago) I had a little trouble remembering which action the 2 controller sticks did in mode 2 Now I use this saying. The one on the left is UP, DOWN AND SPIN AROUND. The right is the 4 DIRECTIONS. Up, back and side to side. But the up UP DOWN AND SPIN AROUND helps me to keep it right in my head.
Im new to videos and just got a mini. wow one of the best beginner videos ive seen so far. Love how you explain step by step...all tech options and how to access them and even the minor details that i didnt even knew i would care about. new fan to this channel
Thanks, Carson, for this informative and well-made intro to the Mini's controller. Somehow you manage to address all the significant points without overwhelming or boring the viewer. I'd say you have a bright future in TV/video!
Re: pointing the camera upward. It's not just for looking up at the sky. For commercial pilots, it can be used for inspections where you fly underneath something. For landscape photographers, it can get you some great shots looking upward or gradually panning upward with the gimbal control, looking at a mountain, cliff, or other large formation. Try it out and you'll find it can really add to your scenic photography and videography.
Mode 3 is the easiest, I don't know how people fly in Mode 2 and I haven't even gotten my Mavic Mini yet! I'm getting mine in a few days I'm so excited!
Got my mini on Sunday and charged up the batteries and the controller on Sunday night. Monday night I was pairing in my office and the blades started spinning. Grabbed the drone and cut my hands on the props. Both hands. Learned lesson 1. Will try and get out tomorrow for first flight. Thanks for the beginner's video. 73 years old here.
Great video. I should’ve watched completely before flying because I started to panic when I was ready to land. Lol. Took a chance holding the joystick down and glad it lands itself.
@@arpit546 Yes, but in restricted areas only. You can easily get it by apply through online. All you gotta do is visit dji website and upload your SN of the drone and flying details such as diameter, expecting flying hight etc in that certain area.
This video is much much better than another one that had higher thumbs up, a good explanation, and very experimental examples, hope you get more subs and views
Thanks for the video bro I'm 26 and I've had this drone for about a year and you still taught me some things soo Thanks 😊. I also didn't know that was a rth button on the controller. I never use the buttons on the controller I usually just you my phone. So now I know something new Thanks to you!! 😁😋
Great all-in-one video.... no need to watch any other after this!!!!!!! Explaining useful stuff, fast, in a simple matter, up to the point and without wasting any time.... 100%!!!!
Million like!! Wow Carson, I can't thank you enough for your so helpful video!! I'm totally a beginner using a drone for the first time, and came across your so helpful video! Thank you so much!
I got mine yesterday and have been watching guide from many people but not yet know how to move camera direction 😂Yours help a lot ! Thank you so much 😇
This is probably the best review of this drone that I have seen. I had reservations about this drone because It has no obstacle avoidance. This review has given we a second opinion
Just got my mavic mini today... thank you for making this vid ill be watching this step by step with my drone... appreciate it Carson for the breakdown!
Thanks for posting and great video - I'm a total novice and new at this and just got the drone today - the maiden voyage went alright, but I need a lot of practice. Certainly understanding the controllers and your video made it easier and with practice I'll be able to master this little gem ....
I passed my Part 107 test last Tuesday, opened my mini combo today for the first time to charge it up. Watched a few videos for beginners. Yours is the best! Thank you! I will check out your other videos.
I was today years old when I learned that you could stow the thumbsticks (also learned I was given a spare set of thumbsticks with the Fly More Combo), and that you could stow the wire inside the l;eft controller handle. Thanks!
Good video, there's too many videos out there that are just someone sitting at a desk explaining things. Very helpful to have kind of a hands on example of all the controls. Thank you.👍
Thank you for this. Just got my drone licence here in the UK and trying to figure out which DJI to actually buy. I am a complete beginner with 0 fly time.
For beginner, then try DJI Mavic Mini which is cheaper price now. Specs: 2.7K resolution, distance 2.7 mile (4.0km), Height 400 feet. If you like higher resolution video (in 4K) and fly longer distance (10km), then get the latest model DJI Mavic Mini 2. Price difference is only about 30%-40%.
I just bought my Mini and I had some doubts. Your video was very well explained and tomorrow I will test the drone! Thanks! Greetings from Portugal! :D
Just got mine today...all charged up, updated, and ready to go...I have to wait until tomorrow to fly! Thanks for the great video I feel like I'm ready to go now! 😁
Tempted to buy a 'Mini' yesterday as they were available at my local 'Costco'. Held back though, 'cuz I wanted to research whether it'll be worth the investment. Your demonstration was very good, and I may soon be picking one of these little gems up. Thanks for posting your video!
very good explanation, I spent quite a lot of time searching for a video like this until I came across this channel. well done, very helpful and keep up the good work!
That’d be the Fly More Combo you’re talking about. I’m quite certain that Costco sells the Fly More Combo! I know a lot of other vendors do as well, and because of Black Friday, are having significant deals right now! So, if you’re still within the return period for your regular Mavic Mini kit, you should be able to go out and snag a Fly More Combo with a full refund on the Mavic Mini!
Thanks for the info. I just bought a mini from my brother who had it for less than 2 months. It was a good deal. 3batt. and a charging bank for $400. Then I found out my Iphone would not support it. So now I had to purchase a new phone (iphone 8plus) Wow I wonder if I came out ahead. So be it. Life is too short to worry about it.
Just purchased this drone for my first Short Horror Film for my haunted attraction. Headed to our first shot location in a few days. After a few incredible test flights, Im so super excited to begin filming great aerial shots for our film. Thanks for the tips!
Hi Carson just a little inside on antennas. Single antenna you would have a signal strength like a circle, dual antennas quarter wave length a part creates stronger signal towards the front and to the back side almost like an egg shape. and yes keep antennas strait up is the best as they are ground plane antennas. From an amateur radio operator VA3FH
Ohh did I mess up today. I got my new Mavic Mini a month ago. Been logging some flights and learning what I can do. Tonight as the sun was setting I was flying over my lake. I was making really low passes. The video looked awesome. At about 2 feet off the surface I accidentally pulled back on the controller thinking I would climb.. My airplane days.. It went into landing mode. My poor drone is gone in the drink. Our boat is not I'm it's slip yet. I felt sick.. I ordered a new drone tonight. Shhhh, don't tell my wife.
Thanks for the video, I do own other DKI drones but I just bought the Mini a couple of days ago and I haven’t turned it on yet. Thanks for letting me see it done right.
Great walk thru! I have an 11ProMax and mine fits in fine w it’s case on, those arms go quite a bit wider than u see here. Just so viewers who haven’t purchase know there’s no hassle there. Just bought mine 2 weeks ago and only thing not loving is it can’t fly in conditions that are windy. I get it as it’s so lightweight but I’m always looking n Cinemode so next time windy will switch to sport and see how does.
Waiting for my Mavic Mini to arrive. (2 more days)... Thanks for your video! It’s something I’ll review after I get the box open and all parts assembled.😄🇺🇸🇮🇹
I had a toy drone that was good for nothing, no resistance to wind, no camera quality and no signal after 25-30m, this drone is a massive change for me but I still panic as hell when I don t see it anymore. Great video man, thanks
I probably should have watched this 3 years ago. I had no idea the antenna could tilt forward like that and I also didn't know you could store the joystick controllers on the remote.
Thoughts: I'm a new Mavic Mini owner and new to FPV flying. I've had issues with the iphone app losing connection with the controller/drone at any distance. I first thought it was the lightning connector and switched to an old phone. Since then I learned the rule about shutting off the phone's WIFI and have not tried switching back to the first (larger) phone yet. I still wanted to mention that it would have been a good thing to point out in this video. Another thing I wanted to learn about was the CSC command. I understand how it starts up the rotors, and how it can shut them down in an emergency. I'd like to know if they will re-start the rotors when the drone is falling. One of my fears is clowns with axes. Another fear is a bird strike on my new toy. I see the Mavic Mini will shut down the rotors if rolled or pitched too much, which seems likely if a bird attacks. If that happens, I'd like to be able to try and save mine from a crash landing, providing there's enough fall time. Better yet, why wouldn't DJI have a recovery mode that could kick in if free fall above a set altitude? Thoughts?
Thank you for the great videos. New Mavic Mini owner and absolutely love it! Just wanted to comment that though a thick case doesn't quite fit as hoped, I'm able to use the remote without removing it on my iPhone 8 Plus. It can fit snugly enough to be usable, which I far prefer to removing my case every time.
Hmm, most all of my phones have fit - just the cable is the issue. The cable typically doesn’t fit into the charging slot since the cases I typically have are a bit thick, so just keep that in mind if you ever encounter a complete dropout of signal- make sure to check that cable connection :)
Got my mini today and I'm 71 years old

Thx for a easy introduction. I feel no worries now to buy mini!
Good video! Thanks! Drone arrived today. One quick question how do you stop the comptroller from beeping continuously.
Thank you Carson. I’m a new drone user so this was very helpful. Much appreciated.
Thanks! It helped a lot, well explained, can’t wait to fly mine next Saturday
Great video! I’m excited to get going on mine!! Thanks Carson! Just Subscribed!
Thanks Carson, very helpful...I learnt a lot from your video....regards from Holland
Good stuff!! Had mine for like 2/3 years never knew about the gimbal Controll on the controller!!!1 WOW
One thing that nobody ever seems to tell you in these videos: you can use the controller without your phone connected
Tried this myself indoors but without the app running to keep initial height at 1.2m it went straight into the ceiling so be careful.
I probably should have watched this 3 years ago. I had no idea the antenna could tilt forward like that and I also didn't know you could store the joystick controllers on the remote.
Thank you for this i just got mine, your information was very clear and easy to follow
I say this is just a tipically good video!
Thanks, clear video.
Just got 1 today, thanks for sharing.
Thoughts?

Thank you! I recently purchased one, and this really helped!
I already knew a lot of things he said but I stilled learned something
