    It is absolutely the BEST drone for both beginner and intermediate drone photographers wanting professional results. I went with the Air 3 over this because I really wanted the dual camera system and it's been a game changer for me. However, if the Air 3 wasn't within budget, I would have been just as satisfied with the Mini 4 Pro, especially with the omni and the new waypoints flight mode. This has to be the new Swiss army knife of drones due to performance, portability, and price point. Great footage!

    Great to see the obstacle avoidance features. The only times I have seriously crashed my mini2 is by reversing into things. My own fault by not judging distance before rotating to face my subject. Last time was against the wall of a castle when a gust of wind blew the drone against its wall.

    Great review Mark. Pretty much the best one I've seen having watched a few this evening. I'm very much considering the Mini Pro 4 which will be an upgrade from my MINI 2. I've had significant success with Photo's from the M2 including night and day, plus a surprisingly decent ISO 3200 night flight with some significant post processing manipulation (and it needed quite a bit). Having seen the quality of the night mode footage in this review, I'm VERY much encouraged to purchase. I DO love a good night time photo.
    Now, I do have a question for yourself or other readers. Ignoring the secondary camera on the AIR 3, how does the regular camera on the AIR 3 compare to the MINI Pro 4? I understand it's pretty much the same unit but are there any significant differences between the quality of images and video (both day and night)? used to fly a Phantom 4 Pro back in the day but the amount of time I get to fly doesn't justify the costs of the Mavic 3 Pro so just juggling decisions between the AIR 3 and MINI 4 Pro (I would be shooting video in LOG which would be great for combining footage with my Avata also shot in LOG).

    Yes to the Air 3 over the Mini 4 pro for me. Mainly because of wind resistance. All Mini drones have problems with wind. If you have little wind resistance where you fly, then the mini is probably a great option. I live in a high wind area and chose the Air 3 mainly because of better wind resistance. The much larger batteries and the 2nd camera are added bonuses

    An excellent review, and beautiful footage of the UK coast. I'm looking at the Mini 4 to upgrade from my Mini 2, which was great to learn safe flying techniques, but also to get some relatively good footage despite a super small sensor. The sensor on the Mini 4 is about twice the size of the Mini 2, with much better image quality. I would assume that DJI will at some point bring out a mini drone with a micro four thirds or even an APS-C size sensor, which will make all the current larger drones less relevant in a context of tightening drone legislation around the world. Heavier drones with larger sensors will always have a place for professional settings, where maximum stability in windy conditions is a must.

    Honestly, I'm embarrassed to say that I just updated to the Mini 3 from my old Spark, which had object tracking etc, but just terrible flight time and it was heavy. I'm so blown away by the Mini 3. This Mini 4 Pro seems like the pinnacle of mini drones, I just don't know how they can get any better. I'm not so worried about banging into things now that I'm much better flying the thing, but I can see where the Mini 4 Pro would be all the drone you'd ever need for nearly everything to do with creating content.

Also the range on mine even with the RC controller has been fantastic, 10.7km away I flew the other day and back. Any idea how well the collision avoidance works amongst very leafy trees in a forest? I have a block of land with trees like that and the Mini 3 (bought based on your review) is difficult to fly amongst the trees because of this - it's too easy for the blades to clip some leaves or a rogue branch. If the Mini 4 Pro can avoid these fine obstacles then based on your review I think it's worth upgrading for me.

    The 120m high restriction from Starting Point in the App ruins the whole package if you want to fly in the mountains 😞 - i will send mine back.
    Don't get why we didn't get the Plus version as C1 in Europe? - that would have fixed all the problems.

How about I get you a Detroit Tigers hat or a Block M Michigan Hat? 🤠My Hover Air X1 pocket drone can do the low height tracking really well and is better protected and cheaper if something goes wrong and will still be used for indoor shots, hover from above selfies, sporting events (like shots of tennis from overhead, hiking through trees and biking). You don't need a separate pilot and a bulky controller and that drone is half the weight of the DJI. However, it can only go up about 15 meters. If I get the DJI Mini Pro, it will be for heights above that. I think the combo of the two drones might be a perfect solution for me. Studying to get the drone pilots license first though. Thanks again!

    Thanks for all the test footage - the test with the back mounted go pro and the mini following kind of answers a suspicion of mine - it feels like the mini is missing a tiny bit of latitude for the bright sky compared to the go pro? Now it might be that the go pro was aiming up and metering for the sky, or potentially that you didn’t care about how the mini footage looked here since you were mainly tracking? It just seems like the mavic camera deals far better with really high contrast scenarios. Does the mini have hdr options and also some kind of 10 bit / log at the same time? Cheers!

    My big question is how fast can you get in the air? I've had 2 DJI drones, a Phantom 3 which was reasonable, and a Mavic Air 2 which I stopped using due to forever having to calibrate the compass and update the updated updates of the updated firmware that I already updated already. On average, of the whole 5 times I actually used that POS, it took around 20 minutes to get the thing airborne. I actually took it out more than that, but on a few occasions I just gave up and put it back in the bag, before it ruined my mood even further. So have these improved in that sense? Can I just turn it on and fly? Or still doing figures of 8 while 40ft away from my wallet and car keys etc etc?

      I just hook up the controller, drone, etc... then turn everything on before I leave my house. I do any necessary updates before I leave. Sometimes, if I'm getting on the go early in the morning, I'll do this before I go to bed. No issues.

    I have a few questions? is the mini 4 pro really limited to only 120m max altitude? and surely the older rc controller or even the RC-N1 will work with the mini 4 pro? i ask this because the RC-N1 is Ocusync 2.0 but works with the mini 3 that is Ocusync 3.0, or is the new mini 4 pro not backwards compatible?

      @vink6163 6 місяців тому

      @@yoshy2628 I was being logical, I was quoting the specs and saying that they are achievable only under perfect conditions, meaning in the real world you will get significantly less range. As other reviewers have found, the version with 10 km range has signal dropouts when the drone flies behind a large tree trunk, whereas the 20 km one can maintain the video and control signals in the same scenario. Nobody is claiming, or expecting, that the drone can fly anywhere close to 20 km.

  • @Baranoeda

    The RC range is impressive, 20 km. But why is it so much focus on increasing the range, when you are not allowed to fly outside VLOS (Visual line of sight). You need pretty good eyes to spot your little 249 g drone at 20 km :)

      Avata is a completely different type of flying and has a specific purpose. Combing IT with a Cinematic drone can create some amazing content. I have an Avata and a MINI 2 and VERY much on the cusp of getting the MINI 4 Pro to compliment the Avata. Who cares about the noise. Baffles me why it bothers people :) and if other people are bothered by it, you're probably too close to them ;)
