Came back from a trip in Portugal and thought the content I recorded with my mini 2 was brilliant (for me). Until watching this and spotting all the mistakes you outlined in the beginners section. Really helpful tips here and definitely looking forward to my next trip to record and showcase my new skills learned here. Thank you!
Just got the mini se and can’t wait to start. I’m in alaska and want to showcase the beauty so thank you so much for the tips!! I’ll be sure to try and use them all
Great video and tips! But to realize the more professional result, it means that you have to prepare, think about the location, and already think what your end result should look like. Then you know what kind of several drone shots you have to make upfront, to edit them later in the video program. For most people the thinking, preparing etc is the most difficult part. Please add more videos like this one with different poi, such as beach, castle, landscape, town...Then we have 4 different examples and POI and can learn from a pro like you!
I agree. The creative content part is the hardest. Like when I airbrush, but with a drone. I have received. So much information from your channel. Ty 😎
I bought my DJI Mini SE two weeks ago and i'm still practicing to learn how to fly perfectly without the messy movements but this video is is great help to make it more professional. I'm going to try to use these tricks the next time i fly with my drone! I found your channel a week ago and your videos are so helpful, i learn so much from here!!! Thank you 👌
I've just ordered my Mini 2 and it arrives today. I've been watching various videos the last couple of days trying to decide between the mini 2 and 3, I have to say, you're putting in the work! So many helpful, professional videos and only 50k subs, you should be on way more. Keep up the good work and they'll come.
I always learn something new here on your channel thank you again , keep it up your drone channel is my favorite of all others simply because I learn the things I'm looking to lean here making me a better creative pilot.
Thank you for the great tips Mattheww. BTW. Several weeks ago, I commented that I was a bit scarred to fly my DJI Mini 2 for the first time. Well, following your encouragement, I did fly it. It was great fun. I was focused on flying, not capturing images. Looking forward to capturing images next. Thank you!
Me too. I really scared especially flying places that is really windy up high. Look at my footage of my travel Sri Lanka vlog; ua-cam.com/video/tszmpCKZ7j8/v-deo.html
Thanks for the tuition and tips. Santy gave me a Mini 2 plus ND Filters for Christmas. Santy must know your sales techniques resulted in me needing and ending up with an Avata and now a Mini 2. Your channel is costing me a fortune, so it is. :) Next major expense will be a better video editor for my Mac. Thanks again for the great videos.
Many times as a beginner I don’t know what I will find when I go to a new place. I usually take video the whole time I am up and then I cut it in Final Cut . Is it better to fly and then shoot?
2:34 Adding black bars is just for beginners. NEVER ADD BLACK BARS! Crop the video to the desired aspect ratio and any player will add these bars itself if necessary.
Traveling to Ireland later this year and plan to fly my Mini 2. Any tips for general flying? Also, top places to fly? Renting a car and traveling from Dublin, to Killarney, to Galway, Belfast, and back to Dublin.
There are some wonderful tips here! Your voice is so relaxed and the pacing is perfect for instruction. It’s short, but not rushed. That’s exactly what a modern youtube tutorial should be. As a sorta beginner (118 flights, 19 hours), I really appreciate the help on the fundamentals. Now the challenge is incorporating it into my shooting methods and mental toolbox. Thank you for sharing your expertise.
Just found your channel, as someone only new to photography/drones, stuff like this really helps. Gives me insight into things I've never even considered. Much appreciated, hope to learn more from your videos 👏
Really great stuff!!! I'm still a noob so anything helps! So far my best have come from making a flight/shot plan of the area I'm trying to capture. Without it I tend to get in the air and just goof off which is fine too but yields very low % usable (and hard to edit) footage compared to flights with even a tiny bit of pre-planning.
Tell us what you will do, do it, tell us what you did. Formula for me taking away a ton of good info. I didn’t know I was going to have to learn all this but you are making it fun.
Nice video!! Would be great to post your gimbal settings! When you started, your remote showed you had it on cine mode but on the phone recording it shows normal mode, which one do you use?
Thanks Mat, new sub here. I’m a nub with flying drones and recently have just started dumping my drone videos here on yt just at least for friends and family to view. Im doing it just on my past time here in Japan and this certainly helps with learning more about flying and capturing awesome footages, hope to see more of these in the future. Thanks and more power! Note im still new to drones, so my devices aren’t as good as you or others may have, but its a good start.
Thanks for the great tips, I got the Mini 2 2 months ago and didn't know how to use it like a pro! I'll follow your steps and do the same so I'll definitely get good results! As for the protection, I covered my drone with Gadgetshieldz skins, is it safe because it gives protection from scratches because sometimes I drive my drone into leaves!
Brilliant video again man. Mini2 work is much improved thanks to you. Especially (focus on one thing) bit. Been flying like a kiddy in a candy store since upgrading to the 2. I want anything and everything now for the never ending B-roll. Yet I always delete most of it. 🤦♂️ Been a GoPro vet for a decade. Even the limited knowledge got there goes out the ear, in air. It’s tough to transition from ground work to the air. At times piloting and shooting can overwhelm. Anyway, love your channel. Best drone tutorials on the net.
@@TheDroneCreative I'm not - living in the USA now. But my wife and I did get engaged at the White Rocks, so it was nice to see your footage and be able to point to the dune where we did it haha. Keep up the good work!
I noticed that too. The part of the clip where it was most obvious was the gimble up from the rocks to the horizon. If he balanced out the exposure for the horizon, it likely would have made the rocks way too dark at the beginning of the clip. Blowing out half of the sky isn't ideal, either, so you have to make a choice. Another choice would have been to make those two separate clips.
I just uploaded my very first video of my very first day with my very first drone! woop woop I'm excited. I wish I would have watched this video BEFORE, lol
Thanks for your videos they are very helpful and you’re very pleasant to listen to. On thing I’d like to say is, every time I try to catch my mini se it rises higher away from my hand! Do I have to turn off the sensors on the bottom of the drone?
Thanks for these , got my drone app working again and wanted to head out today .... but Alas ... Irish weather , good all week then rainy on weekend lol , Thanks for the tips i hope to use these on my videos , and gave a Sub
Nice tutorial. My advice to people using the drone is... Keep it simple! Which is probably why I wasn't keen on the black bars or colour grading you used. Aside from that, you made great points and a clear presentation! All the best to you! New subscriber! 🙌👍
Me who doesn't even own a drone but is starting to considering getting one is impressed even by the beginner footage 🙈😂 I got here through UA-cam recommendations algorithm.

Great Video, I just bought a Mini 3 pro and learned a lot from you. How do you get the atmospheric sounds into your video (waves, birds,…)?
Thank you. For this I use Epidemic Sound, they are a great source of sound effects and music that I use in my videos. share.epidemicsound.com/lblns0
Great video! May i ask which app that you used to edit the video?
