With respect, we already know our universe is massive, but can I ask for an educated guess as to why is it so big? It makes no sense for me how massive it is, thank you for your videos and greetings from Mexico.
I personally believe the universe is a life-supporting incubator, for whatever reason. We are the universe's matter experiencing itself and so maybe it wants to experience itself more, and for that it needs to get larger. Evidently, the universe had to already get quite large before life emerged on Earth, so if it appears to be accelerating in its expansion (which it does) then to me that feels like it is trying to get to a more life-supporting state. I'm not sure why it would be born with such an instinct though. Either it is part of a population / family of universes and voluminous size is a property that has been evolved over generations, or life itself is tied to the grander "purpose" of whatever the point of the universe is. That wasn't really educated as a guess, more just my two cents. But then I don't think you can really take much of an educated guess on "why" like you can with "how" Also on a side note, I went to Mexico earlier this year and I thought it was incredible! Mexico City and the state of Oaxaca were both awesome.

4D Hyper Torus fan here. One simple reason. "As above, so below. As below, so above" All around us, on every level we can see, the nature of things is cyclical. An explanation that jives with that is simply best. The Universe is expanding, and indeed accelerating from our point of view. Without knowing exactly how, I know that it won't continue to do it forever. That's like a crest without a trough, a light without dark, a yin without yang. Nothing works that way. Nothing.
This is my main theory for why the “big bang” happened. If every other observable process is cyclical, why not universal creation? Who’s to say gravity doesn’t eventually pull all matter together after the heat death and explode back into a fresh new universe? Then again, it’s a theory subject to change, but it’s the best i can come up with.
@@k_a_bizzle I'm far from an expert on the cosmos, but we live in a nigh-infinite universe. We are already aware of the exertion of forces that we can't comprehend or account for, so we call them things like dark matter and dark energy. If all you can imagine as a driver of the universe is magnetism, and then discount that because there are not magnetic monopoles, I would posit that you are suffering from a crippling lack of imagination. If we could account for everything with what we already knew, everything would be accounted for.
We were left hanging with your last upload! The wait, while unbearable, was well worth it for this gem 💎! Thank you 🙏 SEA for allowing us to make this incredible journey into the great unknown with you.

Wow, this video is absolutely mind-blowing! It's so incredible to think about the vastness of the universe and how much we still have yet to discover. The visuals in this video are absolutely stunning and really help to bring the concept to life. I especially appreciated the explanations of the various theories and phenomena being discussed, as it really helped me to better understand the complex concepts being presented. Overall, this is a fantastic educational resource and I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in learning more about the mysteries of the universe. Great work!
Even if we started expanding as fast as we could, we'll probably never go beyond our galaxy local group. The expansion of space time will take away all the other galaxy clusters beyond the observable limit. Light speed is too slow to explore the universe.

I think that no matter how far we go any direction, for any amount of time, we would only see stars and galaxies, things at our scale. We'll never see something different to this. Like if you were the size of an atom, and went through a human beings b ody, then out of it and into the air. The density / consistency might change, but you're still only going tosee atoms. You would have to scale up to our size, to see things with more of a grand, purposeful structure.
@@ArrakisMusicOfficial and if "galaxies, galaxy clusters, superclusters, and the 3 more levels above" were all still small compared to the true size of the universe what then?
@@ArrakisMusicOfficial Well, intelligence can evolve and start understanding things beyond it's natural limits. Most fishes only know about water, some of them jump briefly and fall back in ocean so they have idea of air. Some become amphibious and start exploring the muddy shores, but have no idea of Mountains, Islands, Deserts, Earth Crust, the Solar System. We are getting there, but still long way to understand different dimensions to have grasp to scale of Universe.
You're right. If I've discovered a 10 million km stretch of road and it disappears over the horizon, I wouldn't expect to find anything else except maybe more road over the edge. Especially since the scientists that start jumping up and down at any horizon don't know anymore than anyone else about why this road is 10 million km, what it' made of, where it's going...if you have no answers to any of these, it's just more road genius.
You deserve way more recognition, all your videos and all your hard work you put into them, and I actually learning way more then school, keep up the great work

Thank you for sharing. I’ve been obsessively learning about our "existence" for a few years now. The more I learn the more I realize I know so little. It’s overwhelming at times.
Very enjoyable. I’m just an infotainment seeker but this glued together so many bits and pieces that I felt like an expert for a moment. Whilst we may never know what’s beyond our visible universe, the fact that some can conceive plausible descriptions and communicate them so lay people can understand-ish, says it may not be impossible and so-what if it is.

I watch these more than any documentary on tv. And it's on free content youtube. Awesome work!
The "crisis in cosmology" is completely self inflicted. Scientists have spent far too long trying to make the universe match their theories instead of letting what they observe determine what they theorize. Always love your videos, this is my favorite channel on YT, and your commentary and research is fantastic.
I have to disagree. It would be a much bigger issue if we threw out the whole puzzle because one piece doesn't fit. As mentioned now and then in the video, one of the major issues with determining the shape of the universe is that they each solve and create problems for physics already established and essentially proven.
this video was nuts. I have seen a similar video from Cool Worlds but this one was very well done too. The torus universe is such a weird experience but it explains a lot if you think about it. Keep up with the good work mate.

You won't find a science show on Netflix or anywhere with this quality and clarity that just focuses on the science like this. And it's just one dude🤯.
Done it again hats off to u Sir.
This is wayyyy better than netflix where metaphorical explanations doesnt make sense. Give this guy a show
Thanks
This is the best Christmas gift I could imagine for this crazy year. I've been waiting for this since "Beyond the Cosmic Horizon" and it does not disappoint. Turn off the lights, fire up the 4K rig and watch away. Merry Christmas and THANK YOU!
Bro I’m so glad that this channel exists it has helped me sleep better and be more comfortable because I never really get to do anything or just hear about one of my favorite things space so when I go to sleep I listen to one two or even three a night.
Can we all appreciate the fact SEA does not add music to his videos making his content the most relaxing science based videos on youtube. He has helped me get more then 7 hours sleep per night
There is music though
Bro that watch time gain will be insane.
There is music though, it's just ambient bass and tones but it's still there.
There is music, and btw, he writes his own music! It’s in all his videos, but is so ambient that it’s not intrusive. Talented guy!
@@jlee1014 wow, does he? What a talented man
From one of the best GD creator's to one of the best space documentary creators I absolutely love these vids.
You mean a 3-torus? I think that and the surface of a hypersphere are equally plausible
Well there are no magnetic monopoles.
Thanks! Listen to you every night, not just to go to sleep, but to learn. You do awesome work man, in my opinion the best on UA-cam.
Love that, and thank you so much for the donation 💙🙏 sorry I didn’t see this sooner
One of the best ones yet! Congratulations. Please keep them coming, these videos have helped ground me personally, I can’t thank you enough!
We were left hanging with your last upload! The wait, while unbearable, was well worth it for this gem 💎! Thank you 🙏 SEA for allowing us to make this incredible journey into the great unknown with you.
you havent even watched it
Yes it has been unbearable, but now, finally...
Love the channel!
Thank you so much for the donation! 🙏 Amazing support 💙
This is extremely good and very thought provoking! You deserve recognition for producing such high quality science material!
You have an unbelievable talent in making these videos. Just wow. The narration, the video, the substance. Top tier space channel
I’m convinced the very best of humanity can be found in the comments of SEA videos.
I hadn't even watched this yet...but already owe you a sincere thank you to express appreciation & encourage more great content. Stay blessed & thanks again for all the hard work that goes into these great videos. A favorite channel for sure
And another 40 minutes of quality-documentary. Thanks man, really enjoying your videos. 💯
finally somebody who really knows and therefore can explain the shape of the universe. This is the most clear, visually helpful, detailed video ever saw about it. thanks a lot.
The chillz I got after this intro is of epic proportions!!! SEA, in my opinion, your content is in the top 1% of YT! Just Wow!! You sir, are appreciated! 🇳🇱
Great work!
It's not that vast, you can fit the entirety of the universes possibilities in a single 13x13 square grid.
Even if we started expanding as fast as we could, we'll probably never go beyond our galaxy local group. The expansion of space time will take away all the other galaxy clusters beyond the observable limit. Light speed is too slow to explore the universe.
Mr. Sea....you absolutely did nail the paper towel universe and don't let anyone tell you different. 10/10.
Easily the best space related channel on UA-cam. Thank you for awesome content.
Agreed and "How the Universe works" is another great site
truly a production masterpiece (as always)
Well done at cramming so much well explained information into a 40 min video (Documentary!)
Thank you for everything you've produced this year and here's to the next orbit round the sun.
Can't believe 40 minutes have gone by and I didn't even notice. Video was so amazing my eyes were glued on the screen the whole time.
Ditto...
Such an amazing UA-cam channel, you really are making a lot of people happy doing what you are doing! We all thank you from the bottom of our hearts 🙇♂️
We were missing you!
I’ve watched some of your videos from three years ago recently - there’s no comparison - this was a long road but now your channel is one of the highest quality in genre. Keep it up!
Thanks!
One of the few channels I hit the bell for. Thank you so much for your work!
Thank you!! For all of your content. This one though, just wow. Thank you for your thorough accuracy
This guy makes the best space videos on the internet.
These should go straight to Netflix or such! Great job, hopefully we will soon discover more of this mystery we are in.
then swing him a couple of bucks
Excellent quality work. Very much appreciate the way you make the content longer than other youtube channels with a calm voice and packed with information. Thank you.
Simply amazing that anyone can follow along with your videos, regardless of our backgrounds in cosmology and physics (or lack thereof in my case), and still come away with an appreciable understanding of the topics covered. Just thank you.
Your content manages to capture the bleeding edge of theory and construe it in such a digestible fashion. Excellent work as always 👏
mate, the quality of videos you produce on such thought provoking topics like the cosmos is awesome. Keep it up!!
This is the only medium for which I can find such captivating cosmology videos! Thank you for all that you do! I eat your videos up! 💜
Merry Christmas SEA! Thanks for the effort you put into this channel. It is greatly appreciated. Not only do I learn a lot from the fascinating topics you cover, I also love to drift off to sleep to your narrations. Infinite rewatchability.
A FANTASTIC episode.
The hard work you put into it is richly evident. Thank you!!!
hey man thanks for another year of amazing videos :) thanks for everything you do, i really do love the channel
yes!
Thank you for another great video. Fantastic work!
Been watching you for YEARS at this point and you just get so, so, so much more incredible every month. You need to be given a Netflix blank cheque.
Thank you so much for continuing to release such amazing content! I tune into your channel every night before bed and I've learned so much through your channel. I agree with the other commenter, it's amazing just how much better your content is than other documentaries. Keep up the great work (please my sleep depends on it lol)!
This might be your best work yet!Unbelievably well put together and very explanatory! Thank you for this awesome content 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Wow it just goes on forever and ever. My feeble human brain is trying to comprehend it but I cannot.
Shout-out to the immortal cameraman for going all over the universe to bring us these shot's
I absolutely love your work, and the obvious dedication to the subject. This one is however simply beyond my ability to understand to any significant extent. Headache inducingly complicated. I love space, but dam, it's complex!
It's really not. It's as complex as you make it.
He's honestly throwing out a bunch of mumbo jumbo that really doesn't matter, nor does it answer any questions or mysteries.
If you ever read this SEa, I just want to say thank you. I’ve had an interest in astronomy ever since I can remember. Life took me a different way but I feel connected with my real love thanks to you. Keep it up. Thanks again
thank you for another outstanding video, the effort and care that goes into making them does not go unnoticed.
for anyone interested, cool worlds did a great video on the shape of the universe a while back, it’s called “how big is the universe” if you’re looking for more quality content on the topic.
happy holidays to anyone reading this, and especially you SEA!
An unexpected and very welcome Christmas treat! Thank you so much for this and all your productions this year. You clearly know and love your subject matter. Top stuff! Looking forward to whatever is next :). Merry Christmas and a happy new year.
What a presentation!
It went _way_ over my head, for sure.
Dr. Reisses' email was a hoot! "Maybe the universe does this from time to time".
Love your work mate, I arrange a slot in my schedule for your videos so I am able to get completely immersed.
Simply superb content. I watched this twice last night, the first watch was for the fantastic amount of invaluable information you provided. The second watch was more of an existential recap for me personally about my place in the universe. Absolutely thought provoking & terrifying at the same time.
Thank you so much for the detailed information. This is going to help thousands of people out there who want to clarify certain confusions regarding what actually lies beyond the observable universe. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for delivering such wonderful and accessible presentations of astronomy and cosmology. It has motivated me to ponder things I wouldn't have otherwise, and inspired my renewed appreciation for science and the universe as a whole. Hope you have a relaxing break over the holidays, and I look forward to your future endeavours on this channel ❤️
*I wrote this as a 'super thanks', before remembering I cancelled my debit card due to potential fraud. I'll be sure to return, and give my thanks again when my new one comes in the mail. Hopefully this message is enough thanks for now. Merry Christmas ⛄
If what you are saying was true, we would have never noticed galaxies, galaxy clusters, superclusters, and the 3 more levels above
You deserve way more recognition, all your videos and all your hard work you put into them, and I actually learning way more then school, keep up the great work
I really like the cyclic universe model like the donut. I find the arguments between a finite and universe with a 'beginning' and a universe that has always existed interesting.
Cyclic? You mean, one of the best geometry dash players, oh my god he made a geometry dash reference

I'm one of your older GD subs, and I just wanna say that I'm really glad you're doing really well with your new content. Keep doing what you deem is the most fun for you, and good luck in your journey.
Yeah he broke the curse, and simultainiously created one of the best space concept channels.
The Gc content was so peak (I mourn abt Gd news death daily)
I miss it sometimes, but this is fantastic
Curious as to what you’re referring to here. GD? Was this a previous channel of his? Thx for sharing any info.
@@chrisdooley1184 Sea used to make a whole bunch of GD content. I don't remember too much of it as I wasn't really too deep in the community at the time but there might be another channel of his out there. That or you just need to scroll down on this channel.
Edit: Just checked, no GD content here. I'm even quite glad.
You know, I just realized that you asked what GD itself meant.
A game. Geometry Dash. Sea used to make content on the game.
this rlly makes me so at ah at the beauty of the universe we live in. our planet is like a atom in the grand scale of all of space. an even if we are tiny, great natural phenomenon still occur here. an we are lucky to see this point in time. an be conscious an self aware to study it an try to understand it
Thank you for sharing. I’ve been obsessively learning about our "existence" for a few years now. The more I learn the more I realize I know so little. It’s overwhelming at times.
Thought provoking.
SEA thank you for what you do you help a lot of people out with this brilliant art.
Perfect for a foggy and rainy afternoon, love your videos!
Nailed it bro! A++ origami skillz! I love your videos and how thought-provoking your analysis of the universe is. I think you have a gift for helping people visualize the ideas that are at the core of cosmic questions. Thank you and keep up the good fight for amazing content!! Don't stop making videos, please. I watch these more than any documentary on tv. And it's on free content youtube. Awesome work!
sir you are truly awesome! the way you can comprehend and put it all together like you do is amazing thankyou!
This Gonna be a good one 🍿🍿🍿
It's channels like this one that makes this platform worthwhile.
Another great production. Thank you.
So good. One of my favorite astronomy channels. Watching and rewatching.
This was really tremendously fantastic. You explain the whole lot so well. High level stuff. You a gem. Subscribed!
This is top tier in every way, thank you for taking the time to make these amazing videos.
The best video I've ever seen on this topic. Thank you!!!
The idea of the universe being flat is just so unbelievably appealing to me. No bells, no whistles, just infinite pancake shaped reality lol
I find it absolutely terrifying
I just started watching and I already know this is another masterpiece!
I recommend watching it with x1.3 speed.
Well thank you for scrambling my mind this morning, my existential crisis is now at an all time high and I'm unsure even which way is up. 10/10 👍
The "crisis in cosmology" is completely self inflicted. Scientists have spent far too long trying to make the universe match their theories instead of letting what they observe determine what they theorize.
Always love your videos, this is my favorite channel on YT, and your commentary and research is fantastic.
I agree 😐the universe does NOT fallow the rules of man man obeys the laws of nature 😐
It seems to be a state of permanent crisis - and perhaps always will be
I have to disagree.
I feel like the universe is just infinite
These contemporary ideas of physics are just mind-blowing
