    I have had this about a yr . I dont use it for correction though . Enhancement/ 1 steps and wax removal only . I have like 20 batteries so that's not an issue. I have used almost three 4 ah or 2 6 ah to get around a vehicle. I also use it when doing motorcycles with an extension. Pretty happy thus far . Alot of the time it just comes down to if I'm mobile or home . Ty for the video.

  • @maximolotov
    @maximolotov 2 роки тому +4

    Polished about 20 cars using ryobi.
    It leaves holograms on black paints sometime, which is hell = game over since i do one step only. Even on some volvos and audi paints - holograms. Pretty visible holograms but not super bad holograms.
    Scholl s20 + blue spider pad - moderate to heavy preassure .
    1 large black car moderate to heavy swirls to 80-95% defects removed in 12 hours = one cross pass = left , right , up dow.
    10-12 batteries 5 ah each.
    If heavily swirled german cars, then double amount of passes for the same results.
    I am done with ryobi now and need propper macine now.
    I am almost sold to forced rotation as it will not keep stopping at curves and edges of some crazy toyota cars :)
    The only point holding me back from going forced rotation is absence of knowledge if forced rotation machine will always finnish very well with one step compound leaving no holograms as well on black paints. At Least on German cars.
    One step compound -Scholl s20 one step compound and medium cutting pad / blue spider pad combo for example to remove moderate to heavy swirls to 85-95% perfection = 85-95 % defects correced while super lttle haze and 0 holograms left after 2 passes= left to right and up snd down = 1 cross
    Kind Regards
    Your subscriber

      @imjoshv  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for the info! I would say you can get swirl free results for sure but you may have to change up the pad and compound/polish combos. But it sounds like you found a trusty combo that works for you. The ryobi just isn’t the choice for you. I actually have never used a forces rotation but I see the benefit for sure not having to worry about it bogging down. Are you looking at flex?

      Yes I’d put a ceramic coating on. Wet coat will give good protection. I really like the maxshine graphene ceramic coating or g technic crystal serum light! Both are easy to work with and will last longer than wet coat, but they won’t be as easy to apply. For the cloth interior you can pick up a fabric protectant. • @imjoshv

      @@kirbyspencer538 the ceramic is just protection. You want to do a few things to prep the paint for proper adhesion. Clay removes contamination the a one step polish with bring shine out and then do a prep wipe to make sure there is no residue left on the paint and then coat the vehicle! You want to use a polish with no fillers or waxes so that’s it’s just a pure polish

The battery powered option just sounds so attractive vs corded and the vibration/smoothness of the Bauer is often brought into question.

    • @rolandm9750
      @rolandm9750 2 роки тому +2

      Little late to reply now (dunno if you got something by now) but I have the older/shorter throw HF corded DA and this Ryobi... The Ryobi is not nearly as as powerful. It is best used with a 4Ah+ battery for sure, a smaller single-row battery is not going to cut it; but note with more power there's more vibration. The vibration is tolerable for a DIYer or someone doing a car on a weekend or something, but nobody would use this repeatedly/daily. If you think the HF is bad for vibration...lol, the Ryobi is much worse.
      If you need to do heavier correction, forget about the Ryobi and go with the HF (the newer longer throw being able to do even more in that respect). If you try to do heavier correction with the Ryobi you will likely need to spend more time, and subsequently burn through a lot of battery doing so. 9Ahs are nice but three or more 4-6Ah batteries would make the tool a bit easier to use, due to less weight. I think the 6s would be the most ideal here TBH, but really whatever you have multiples of so long as they're 4Ah or more. Swap & charge when you're at about 2 bars battery (better method than running down completely and swapping then).
      Having the two tools though, the HF is definitely much more suited to correction. If I need to do anything more than a basic polish, I use the HF. After doing that, can switch to the Ryobi for next stages--polishing and applying wax/sealant--and do away with the cord.

    Just used this to do a 4dr suv. Only used it to do a polish on the clear, did not need to do a compound. Went through 6 4amph batteries. Applying light pressure to the head of the tool killed it's orbiting action, and basically stalled it out. I returned the tool in the end. Not worth the money. All my tools are Ryobi and some harbour freight stuff. I like Ryobi but this tool is way below par.

    This polisher sucks. It stalls even when I use no force. I even turn it to max rpm and I was using the included pads too. You're better off using a Ryobi drill with polish disk.

    Ryobi and Dewalt are the same company. You can get an adapter to use Dewalt batteries on Ryobi tools.

      Are they? I know tti make Milwaukee, ryobi, etc… but I don’t think they make dewalt

      Ryobi is owned by the big conglomerate that owns Milwaukee not DeWalt.

      @Dan Johnson thanks for correcting me! TTI pretty much owns them all. Dewalt just falls under Stanley Black+Decker.

      You can get Milwaukee adapter for dewalt and pretty much any other platform does not mean it's from the same company

    Of course the DA head is stalling out, you’re using a battery that is not even half of the recommended power rating 🤦🏻‍♂️

    • @imjoshv
      @imjoshv  Рік тому

      That’s the battery it comes with. I wanted to test it as it’s sold

    • @robertelkins5928
      @robertelkins5928 Рік тому

      Uh, this is sold as a bare tool only. You even state this at the start of your video. So you’re contradicting yourself there to begin with mate.
      If you’d done your research, you’d find that the very lowest rated battery you should use with this DA as stated by Ryobi themselves is 2.0ah, with the 4.0ah being recommended, though you can use all the way up to 9.0ah. You’re using the 1.5ah battery which came with your drill 🤷🏻‍♂️
      So yeah, as I said, your battery is not even half the recommended power rating, and you’re complaining the DA head is stalling? Of course it’s stalling 🤦🏻‍♂️

    Useless if it stalls out. If it ain’t spinning it ain’t doin its job and it’s gonna take you twice as long.
