Who's right!?
Like for Emily
Comment for Jordan!
Jordan was right ;)
Sorry, I think Emily was right. Not sure about the bus depo but a nice coffee place though. What a story though
Jordan must go find his princess
For the bus situation would have to side with Jordan. With that option at least he would know where you are and come back and meet up with you. With Emily getting on the next bus it makes finding each other harder.
I'm with Emily-- the move was to get on the next bus, and both to get off at the next stop. 😝
Hi guys! We are the tango dancers who appear in the video, Rodrigo and Valentina! A friend sent us his blog! We are very happy to hear that you liked the tango so much. It was a pleasure for us to be able to share our culture with you. Next time we'll give you a tango class! Big hug from Buenos Aires to Australia ❤
Wow! We're so glad your friend sent you the video! It was so great to see you both dance well be sure to let you know when we come back for a tango lesson! 💃 🕺
Three tips in Buenos Aires for tourists in Buenos Aires :
1- You go inside the bus by the front and never by the back and that's why the bus driver didn't see you going inside
2-When you have a problem just ask people ( Emily was inteligent to stay in the cafe ) because the most people in Buenos Aires would do anything to help you even when they cannot understand you.
3-Do not use your credit card too much because the exchange rate is not good The best is using cash and so use Western Union as the way to get it. There are many tourists in the internet explaining how it works with WU )
BA is a very big city but it's the first time I see tourists so confused with the directions Anyway I loved that you guys took it so cool Buenos Aires is also a place to chill and ENJOY and you did it great until now !!! 👍
Amazing!!
We were confused by this because we were initially at the front door but the bus driver gestured to the back so we headed to that door instead!
Yes, she was so lovely to look after me while I was waiting 😅
Thank you so much!
@@JordanandEmily Dear friend , the argentines we have a special quality what Is the hospitality . I salute❤😊
@@JordanandEmily That bus line has pretty good schedule. If he didnt open the front door and point you to the back just mean "TAKE THE NEXT BUS". Is super normal, so the first bus dont get full and then multiple buses of the same line didnt get together to the bus stops with the first being full.
The back doors on buses are only to descend, never to go up. The driver was not being reckless or bad, because you only supposed to go in the front.
You can go practically everywhere in buenos aires just with buses. there are almost 500 different bus lines between buenos aires and gran buenos aires.
@@JordanandEmily yeah he probably meant to take the next bus because it was running late and the next one was almost there, people from Buenos Aires would understand it but obviously not you, he didnt realize you were foreigners. And then he wasnt expecting for anyone to come up through the back doors so just took off as soon as he saw everybody got down.
@@JordanandEmily He was probably telling you to take the next bus.
AWESOME place , just got back to Toronto from a 12 day vacation. Super friendly people tons of book stores open till very late restaurants everywhere, many theatres -cinemas in the theatre district surrounded by pizerias, restaurants etc and people very willing to help you out when you are lost: in the city-) This was my 2nd time there and I will definitely keep going back. Despite the finacial challenges people are facing they remain friendly and helpful.
100% agree! The people are so warm and welcoming and the city is so vibrant and beautiful!
I agree 100%!!!!! 👍
it's so heart warming to see foreigners talk about my country like that :)
keep coming back!
I still remember the FaceTime call we had about this little mishap, talk about stressing your mother out. Do you remember what we agreed on with what to do in future if this happens again. The one who didn’t get on the bus/train stays put & the other goes back to where you were!! Apart from that little hiccup, it looked like a fantastic day. My favourite bit was the tango dancers, I could’ve sat there and watched them all day. She looked beautiful & they made the dance look easy. A very vibrant city with so many markets, I do love a market. Love you both, mum.xx
I cant believe you don’t have more than 21.1k subscribers - your work is quality!
Many people are missing out.
Woah! Thanks so much! Hopefully 2024 we can boost those numbers up a bit!
At least you both got to enjoy the nice Coffee shop together and Emily found a nice lady to help her out.
Exactly :) it all worked out!
SUBE card stands for "Sistema Único de Boleto Electrónico" (Unified System of Electronic Tickets). But it's also a pun, because "sube" is Spanish for "get on" (the train/bus/whatever).
Haha that's amazing!! I'm not sure where I got my 'sub terranian' from! 🤔 but thanks for clearing it up!
Such a beautiful city!! Best regards from Buenos Aires, Argentina
So beautiful! 😍
There's actually a special rate for payments by foreign cards. It's called the MEP rate and is only slightly worse than the blue dollar rate. First the money is taken from your account according to the official bank rate and then you get a refund a few days later. So the entrance fee would have been around 5 dollars each, not 20.
Woah!!! We didn't know about this at all! Thanks for letting us know!
Ahahaha, this has got to be one of the best travel vlogs on all of UA-cam... and not just because you're in one of the best cities in the world! I can't believe how well you managed to capture what surely must have been a very stressful situation. (For the record, I agree with Jordan that Emily should have waited... with the caveat that, before doubling back, he should also have waited a moment once he got off to see if Emily was on the next bus.) BTW, if you're still in BsAs and can read Spanish, I highly recommend the numismatic museum at the Central Bank. (You'll have to go through security, but it's free and the staff is super friendly because I don't think they see a lot of foreign visitors.)
I think this is the best solution we've had so far! It makes sense for the person to wait at the next stop for a little before heading back! Thanks so much for your compliments, they really mean a lot! 😊
SOLD! What a fabulous city… was hoping you two would sign up for tango lessons😉 Food looks incredible, as does the architecture. Looking forward to the next one.
Hahaha we'd be useless at tango. But never say never! 😄
Still here? Go to the milonga of the CCK, thursday's night. Its free, AND has a cool mix of people (youll find old n young n straight n queer n porteños n foringers). the building its amaizing, its the big one next to the Alem station.
Well after the little mishap of earlier, you had a lovely day exploring. Lovely coloured buildings and so much to see just wandering around my kind of day. Thanks
It really turned out great! thanks for watching ☺️
I love how colourful La Boca is! It always amazes me how many seemingly stray dogs are just out and about on the streets everywhere around the world
It was such a cool little neighborhood!
I love the Latin American culture. It has positive vibes, beautiful languages, and people are so open-minded, tolerant, fun-loving, and kind.♥️♥️🥰🥰
Couldn't agree more! So lovely 😍

Thats great! You'll have a great time, make sure you try as much food as possible 😄
Stay put! So long as one person knows where the other is, it’ll be smooth
Exactly! 😄 can't edit for Emily to read these comments!

Villa Urquiza is a great neighborhood to live in, very easy going and quiet (compared to most of the city)
It was lovely to stay in!
Guys , hurry back. B.A have everything , museums, cinemas, geat parks , pizzerias, theatres , notables bars , very statues , the architecture wirh europeans reminiscences , a amazing nightlife , the 9 of july avenue , the widest in the world , the Rosedal of Pslermo a place full of many flowers and a lake to navigate . You won't be bored here , we are waiting for you in this magical city . You are going to fall in love of B.A . Bring many more friends. ❤😅
😄 we loved BA so much we might just do that!
Son muy divertidos.... Vuelvan!!!!
😊
Hi, Emily and Jordan:
May I suggest taking a Tren de la Costa ride to the Tigre Delta - and then a boat tour (which should include the art museum). You'd need to take the D subway to the Carranza station, and from there a northbound train to the Mitre station in Olivos.
All the Best!
Thanks for your suggestion 😊 we don't have any time left really but we'll look into it!
Another great video. I love the vibrant colours of the buildings and the food looks delish. I always look forward to the food.lol.
Thanks for sharing.
😄 it is such a cool city! Our next video is allllll about the food and we were definitely impressed!
Did you go near the River Plate stadium, where in 2009 AC/DC played that crazy packed concert? If you never seen any video from that concert, there's lots on UA-cam and it's wild.
We didn't even realise! We'll have to check it out!
Watching from aside, it seems easy to know what to do in the public transport situation, but it was fun to watch your little unexpected adventure. I think one of the easiest way could have been Jordan getting of at the next stop
😄
Thanks so much for the great work you guys are doing, we so look forward to watching your videos ... binge watched all of them from the start and are now caught up! The quality and content of your posts is amazing, push on and keep going for all of us who are vicariously living through your travels.
We had a similar experience in London, we both ran down the stairs and onto the platform to take the 'tube' back to our hotel, my husband jumped onto the train already standing there but I didn't think it was the right one so I stopped on the platform, he had the backpack with the phones, wallet etc ... I think the guard must've noticed because it didn't take off until he'd hopped back off. We often think about what we would've done if he had've disappeared into the distance.
Also ... thanks for your recommendation in the newsletter about the podcast Sports Bizarre, my husband loves it!!
Thanks so much for this comment and for watching along (and going back to catch up, that's crazy!!)
We're so glad you're husband got onto sports bizarre! Such a good little podcast 😄
You are doing the typical foreign tour. What you saw in the video is only a part of Argentina, that is only the citizen life of Buenos Aires, or as we call it "Porteños".
Muy buen video! ⭐⭐⭐
Yes a quick touristy tour for us! Hopefully next time we can see more
Bienvenidos 🍻🇦🇷💪
Gracious!!
So beautiful couple! I really enjoy watching your videos... Thank you so much for talking so good about our country. Also, thank you for showing us things we don't pay attentions about our place.
I'm not sure if I'm writing this right because my English is work in progress... But I want to show how glad I'm with you guys ♡ thanks for creating this kind of videos ♡
Thank you so much!
Your English is great 👏
Thank you for having us in your awesome (and delicious) country 🇦🇷❤️
Stay put! Always!
haha yes!
0:01 Her name is "Mafalda" a famous comic character by Quino. This comic was critic on politics, traditions, changes and international politics on 60s & 70s.
Oh wow! So cool 😄
I'm with Emily ... hop off the next stop and she will see you :) Probably have a "back up" plan already worked out for next time ... 🤔😉
yes! We have a plan in place now 😅 hopefully won't need it though
I love how they got lost but they though exactly the same thing. 'I am going to a coffee shop' 'she is going to a coffee shop'
😄
You arr really funny. Suscribed. Greetings from Argentina!
Awesome! Thank you!
You have to enter the bus by the front door so the driver can see you, and you can pay.
Entering by the back door is not allowed, that's used only for people leaving the bus. 😅
Ah! We were confused because he didn’t open the front door for us at all and gestured backwards so we took that to mean use the back door but our mistake!
You guys were in my borough (Villa Urquiza), the best in Caba. The B Line, is the most used subway line.
That's why it was so busy! 😄 such a cool neighborhood!
From an Argentinian perspective I have to say that the majority of us don't know English so hearing someone talk to us in that language throws us off so much, so the translator plays a fundamental role here. 😂😂😂
Haha
In Buenos Aires, there are police officers who speak English. There are police stations that are specifically for tourists.
Jordon is right. That’s the plan we have when travelling one stay and the other come back. But we now travel with having esim on the phone, so can contact each other anywhere.
Thank you! 😊 I think we're in the minority somehow though haha
-Jordan
El pibe entrando por el medio del bondi y la cara de la piba cuando lo ve. 02:38
At least you got a little & funny adventure with the bus system, lol.
😄
The rear doors are for exit only, that's why the driver started without waiting for you. The card reader is only by the front door.
I'm glad you still got to enjoy your day despite the rocky start 😅
Hahaha we knew that! It's the same in Adelaide but we were waiting at the front doors and he didn't open them! Instead he pointed backwards.. we thought he meant back door but I think he meant take the next bus for some reason haha
@@JordanandEmily Hahha yes! Ff a bus driver points backwards that means: "take the next bus". There are some hand gestures in Argentina you better get use to :)
Recoleta cemetery is a must
Next time!
My friend and I got separated in the tube in London. She didnt think it was the right train but i figured they would all go to the same place. The doors closed behind me and left her behind. Luckily she had told me we were going to Tottenham Court so I just got off there and waited for her. She was so mad at me though 😂 😂😂
😄 everyone reacts differently when it happens in real life! Haha
Buen trabajo, muy buena edicion del video! saludos
Thank you!!
Jordan, no tuviste miedo que te robaran los "faroles" (ojos) de tu compañera? ja ja ja Gracias por venir!!! Suerte!!!

Greeting from Argentina!
thank you 👋
I'm from Buenos Aires but I've been away for a year now, and I'm home sick. Damn I miss home so much. Nice video!
The statue at the begining of video is Mafalda, an argentine comic character from 1960s
Thank you! 😊
Tip: when in argentina board the bus thru the front door. Welcome to Argentina ❤❤❤
Thanks for that! He didn't open the front for us haha so we were confused!
My wife and I are currently in Buenos Aires and almost did not make it on to the subte together...our agreement is if we get separated in that instance, the one whom gets left behind stays put and the othe just circles back...that makes it much easier to locate them
...😊
Yeeesss!!! That makes the most sense to me too! But for some reason I think the majority is leaning towards Emily's plan haha
-Jordan
It seems to make sense, but in Buenos Aires, due to one way streets, buses do not necessarily return the same way, and you may end up three blocks from where you started. It is better to go off the bus at the next stop and wait for your partner
@alfredokress4936 yes with the bus I would just get off at the next stop and walk back but we were on the subway so very easy to just circle back at most stops, I guess te other variable is we are using a single sube card so that could change things depending on who had the card on them at the time
Chicos con el sute B y el colectivo 33 de cualquier ramal en una hora estan en la Boca desde Villa Urquiza , les doy la opcion mas rapida, pero hay varias. me encanto el vídeo.
Thank you ☺️
Love this vlog saludos desde Buenos Aires =)
Thanks so much! 😊
Lovely couple!!
Thanks Suay! 😊
My advice and something we did as kids and something I have passed onto our children is that we make a plan if something where to go wrong you all meet at X place or X fountain at the end I would have done what Emily suggested Jordan get off at the immediate next stop and waited there. Also from someone that has been married 20 years Happy Wife Happy LIFE
We usually have a plan 😄 just not this time! Happy wife happy life are some of the truest words ever spoken haha
I hope you´r stay in our country will be delightful
Of course it will be 😀
I love tango
Me too 😍
Most buses in Argentina stop every 2 blocks, the one that was left behind should stay put and the one ahead should walk back 2 blocks and find the person in the bus stop.
Walking back is something neither of us considered 😄 good idea

The correct answer is, get off at the next stop. If you wait to make it to the end, it may take 2-3 hours to wait.
Emily wins, Jordan should have got off at the next stop and waited
This is maddness! 😄 surely I'm not alone in this!

Another amazing video, keep up the good work
Emily tiene razón!! Emily was right!!
Im pretty sure someone already said this, but that place is so colorful due the fact that it was a very poor neighboorhood, and it was very close to the port. So people used to buy very cheap paint from the fishing boats, and ship colors are mostly very colorful.
Wow! Thanks for letting us know
Answer to the first question of the video: MAFALDAAAAA 💖💖💖💖💖
She's from an old comic here, she's very loved. Written by Quino, she's a child that's extremely passionate about politics and stuff it's a really enjoyable comic and it has a lot of commentary on the state of the country, the world, and the views on topics of democracy, freedom, humanity and stereotypes. I don't have a lot of memories, so I'll reread it now that i have more understanding on the topics it deals with jsjsjs
Thank you for letting me know! ❤️
That character is Mafalda, the main character of her own newspaper strip. Created in 1973, Mafalda's personality traits makes her pretty similar to Lisa Simpson, the sharp kid with acid yet innocent observations about the 'world of the grownups'.
Your the first one to answer that haha thank you so much! 😊 she was everywhere!
@@JordanandEmily Well, in Argentina she's as popular as The Simpsons or Garfield (instead of Mondays, she hates soup). It's a recommended read, with lots of funny takes on daily life situations, sometimes mixed with last century's politics too, although some jokes may result hard to translate.
Espero que les guste Argentina un beso Saludos

Italia Tuvo más influencia sobre sobre Argentina por la gran inmigración italiana y europea en general
The coffee was great!
I think the rule if you get separated is to return to the last place you were in a group. Jordan left Emily, he should return where they were separated.
La Boca is not the birthplace of Tango, which was a dance of the low level neighbourhoods. La Boca (literally "the mouth" of the little river (el Riachuelo) was inhabitad specially from italian inmigrants, most specifically from Genoa, many of them with knowledge of maritime affairs and therefore worked in the port of Buenos Aires. They took the remnants of the paint used for mantainance of the ships. They used that paint for their houses and therefore when they ended one color they followed with another. That's the reason of the colorful houses.
Yes. Conventillo is de diminutive of "convento" =convent. In 1872 there was a yellow fever pandemic in the city. The posh families lived south of Plaza de Mayo y the zone of San Telmo-La Boca. The scientist beleived that the yellow fever was caused by infectious airs of the lowlands near the Riachuelo (not bad, it was caused by the mosquito anofeles which grows in waterlands). The posh families moved to higher grounds to the north in the San Nicolás/Retiro/Recoleta neighbourhouds which had higher grounds. The inmigrants rented rooms in the abandoned houses, sharing bathrooms and kitchents. These amassed people made of families living in one room helped to melt all nationalities, cuisine, traditions of the inmigrants. Argentina is one of the few countries without racial or religious unrest. We have a very big comunity of jews and also a muslim one, but they live in harmony. Pope Francis, former achibishop of Buenos Aires held ecumenic prayers where catholic, protestants, jews and muslim chiefs prayed together in the Cathedral, main synagoge or other temples of the other religions.
The bar of chocolate in the submarino does not float, it sinks. It's the submarine in the "submarino". You stir the hot milk till the chocolate complety melts in the glass (it's a special glass held in a metal little cup to be able to lift the hot glass) and drink it.
The main inmigration in Argentina is from Italy, second Spain. Buth in the ende of XIX century french culture and architecture were considered the best. Every rich family brought architects and materials from France to build their mansions. Now most of those mansions are public buildings, clubs, embassies or residences of ambassadors of different countries. For example in Avenida Alvear you start with the French Embassy, The Duahu house wich is the top level of a hotel, the Jockey Club and the residence of the Brazilian ambassador, all around a little square with a nice monument with bronze statues in Cerrito St and Alvear Avenue.
Plaza de Mayo is surrounded by important buildings like Casa Rosada (President of Argentina), Banco Nación Argentina (National Bank), Other banks (you should enter to see the unbelivable decoration in the halls), the Cathedral (catholic) where is the tomb of the main national hero San Martín, the City Hall (of the city government), the Cabildo (colonial city hall), and other public buildings. The Plaza de Mayo is for demonstrations. The celebrations of sport championships are usually held around the Obelisco, which can be seen on the other end of the north diagonal avenue that start in Plaza de Mayo.
Todos nos aburrimos a los tres renglones.
@@JoshuaPers Nadie te obliga a leer, pero tampoco es necesario que pongas un mensaje innecesario.
You should go to San Isidro the next time!!
Added to the list! 😂
the best way is down in the next stop and wait for the next bus, and don't worry, this type of situations can be more often than you think, cause the bus drivers sometimes are too hurry XD
Such a hurry!
Oh my gosh what an ordeal! I've always been taught as a child that you stay put, if something like that happens... and wait for the other person to loop around! At least you guys will know exactly what do to if (god forbid) this ever happens again!!
That's what I (Jordan) thought to! I just remember so many news stories where people go missing its because they venture off instead of staying put!
@@JordanandEmily But it was damn entertaining to watch 😉😂
Conventillos we're so crowded at one point that people would literally sleep standing up and held between the wall and a rope (or rest, I can't imagine sleeping like this). And the different colours used to paint the buildings in La Boca are because it was a lower class, mostly immigrant neighborhood, and the would paint their houses with any paint they could find, even if they had to use different cans of different colours.
This is so interesting - I wish we knew this to include this in the video! thanks so much for providing that extra information!
El tema de los diferentes colores de pintura es porque la mayoría de los que vivían eran marinos y usaban los restos de las pinturas de los barcos .Un abrazo

just a friendly FYI: Villa Urquiza, where you were staying, is pronounced "vee-sha oor-kee-sa" LOL that feels weird to write
Haha can imagine it was off to write but makes sense - thank you! ☺️
la opcion mas logica es esperar en la siguiente estacion, como ya lo habian planeado antes del incidente.
The correct solution would have been to hop off and wait for the next bus, but I can imagine the stress of being alone, in a developing country, with no data, in a big city, etc etc etc. But you seemed to manage it quite well haha
Haha it's a hot topic for debate!
Team Emily! 😂 wait at the next station
😄
If it happens again? stay in the same spot... and the other will come to you! even if they have to walk several blocks!
The maroma (the rope thing) was not a hammock, it was a literal rope that immigrant italians living in La Boca used to tie between two walls... they used to put their armpits on the rope and sleep like... hanging. The worst part: it wasn't free, you had to pay in order to sleep there.... lol. I guess it's better than sleeping outside haha
That's so crazy! But your right. Much better than outside 😄

ARGENTINA nuestro hermoso país ❤
We were in Paris, it was December and freezing cold, we were using the hop on and hop off bus to get around, day 2 we went to get on the bus we met up with a couple from the UK we had met the day before, the bus pulls up and there was a really grumpy woman driving, she told some people they couldn't get on because they had the wrong ticket, my husband jumped on the bus and she shut the door and left me and the other couple behind. He went and said to her you have to stop you left my wife behind so she eventually pulled over and let him off and he walked back to us.
That's crazy! I guess it depends on how cranky the bus driver is hahaha
Hi guys, you should know other neighborhoods in the city like Puerto Madero, Palermo, Belgrano, etc. , greetings
We really want to explore more!
@@JordanandEmilySee if you will have enough time to explore it and enjoy it.
Yep, it was a very tourist area, but overall the average Argentine knows at least a few words in English. And there is a pretty good level of English knowledge.
Definitely! And everyone we met was so nice
guys! Never board the bus through the middle or back door! Always enter through the front. the other 2 are for going out. LOL
Hahaha it seems simple now! But in the moment, we thought we were following the drivers instructions! 😄 oh well, love and learn!
OMG!! i stressed for you, La Boca (except for tourist zone) is VERY DANGEROUS!
Emily, you should stay put and wait Jordan to hop off the bus and returned to picked you up
I don't know when was this recorded but... 8000 is like 8 US dollars at the "blue" rate or around 20 US dollars at the Credit card rate
Recorded recently but we were converting to Australian dollars!
He was right, Emily shouldn't move not only because is the more sensical option, but adding to that, she hasn't data connection on her phone and as she told, she didn't even know where to get off.
At the end, the lesson is, when going abroad with family NEVER be without cell data plan.
It rare that the driver left someone behind with the bus not being full.
Happy staying in BA
