Wow!! I love this!!! Turned out so amazing, it really looks like a white pebbled quartz. I'm redoing my bathroom countertop with this tecnique! Nervous but very excited.
Boy! I can't believe you did that!! You make it look so easy...It looks super! Wish I could do that but I would have paint and epoxy all over the place. Can I hire you to do mine counter tops?? HAHA! 5 STARS!
Thank you so much! You could for sure accomplish this as well. I know it! It just takes patience and a lot of practice spray painting things. Thanks for watching ❤
Only if you are aiming for a light overall look. If you are putting down dark paint, it will likely cover it with one coat. Just make sure the old color isn't noticeable, honestly.
TFS. I'm nervous but I'm going to try this. I also found a marble spray paint on Amazon. It supposedly comes out like silly string or to resemble marble. I'm so nervous.. I'm going to practice. We will see. Thanks again.
Of course!. Practice Practice Practice!! I've seen this product and it's really revolves around hand movement and the amount of pressure you press from the can. You got this!! If you're on IG, I would like to see the finished product. @shanettadiylife
@@Rystical1 It came out really well. I did a marble effect with some paint first and added a couple of sprays of the marble effects. You have to spray from a distance to get a marble effect. I learned less is more when using this spray. I watched a lot of UA-cam videos and did 4 practice boards before I did my kitchen counters. Good luck.
I gotta tell you, thank you.. I did what you did but before i sprayed the stone spray I hit the surface lightly with that krylon diamond dust.. then the stone spray.. gave it a tiny sparkle.. thank you for this video!
Primer/paint/spray paint until dry to the touch. I always wait at least 48 after using epoxy or longer if certain areas are still soft. Every epoxy is different so depends on the product you buy.
Nope! Still crystal clear. You just have to be careful who you buy epoxy from as some turn yellow fast. Also, you have to be sure not to use harsh dye cleaners as they will stain the surface after a while. this is why I did mine over. (hint Lemon Lysol smh)
So, did you get rid of that one blemish you had an issue with in the video? Did you have to sand and repaint it first to get rid of the black mark you showed? What was the overall cost for t0his project? Nice video.
I kept it and don't even notice even more. I don't know know overall cost as most stuff I had on had already. Cost will vary based on supplies you buy. Thanks for watching
Looks awesome..did you get any yellowing from your epoxy? I did a white marble and within 6 months it yellowed. Did your 1st yellow over the white? What kind of epoxy did you use? Thanks!
All material information is listed. I learned that epoxy will stain if you use products that contain colorant. ie Lysol was my epoxy stainer. I created my own cleaner using vinegar, water no yellowing at all.
Once it has cured I recommend any clear cleaner to avoid potential stains from dye in certain products. I make my own using vinegar, dish soap, and water.
Is there anything I should we worried about if I do this to my kitchen counter tops by the stove? Does water leave eat away the expoxy, or what about heat?
Beautiful, love how it turned out, you did a fantastic job! You make it look so easy but i'm sure there's a bit of work to it LOL I've been watching video's on what to do with my kitchen counter top and I think I just found it!! Thank you. I'm wondering, I'd like my counter top to have a tad bit of glitter not much just a tiny bit to give it that little bit of something extra. I'm just wondering how would I apply the glitter would I mix it into the epoxy or would I sprinkle it directly over the paint right after I painted with the spray paint. Your thoughts please?? Great video thanks so much for sharing very much appreciate the work that went into making this video for us to view!
Thank you so much for watching!! I have added glitter before and I personally have applied the paint 1st, then the glitter so it can dry with the paint. Applying glitter can be hard, I recommend putting the glitter in a salt shaker or something for large enough holes so it can come out easy and you don't have to worry about big globs of it falling down all at once. ALWAYS practice applying the glitter to another area to ensure you are shaking it enough to get it out how you want it to fall on the surface. Glitter under epoxy is so beautiful! Good luck and I'm here if you have any questions.
i have watched a few of their videos, but I dont see anything different and not willing to pay a higher price for the same end result. My countertops are still perfect and I didnt use either of those brands product. I guess it depends on the person.
Noooooo! Painting over a countertop that has paint is the same as a wall. Now if their are deep scratches and stuff, You would want to fill those with primer or even dare I say sparkling from Dollar Tree to get a smooth surface. Then prime and paint as normal. I hope this helps.
Not at all! I only painted the countertop to give it a design before sealing it with the epoxy. You can put epoxy over non painted things as well. I wanted the look of a countertop I saw online, so I painted it how I liked and then protected it with the epoxy.
Our mobile home countertops are cheap material (idk what it is, plastic?) I can tell they used spray paint bc they got some on the wall. can I use this same method to change it up?
Yes you can! Any spray paint will cover it, but make sure the surface is smooth. After using the two different ones, I realized that you need to upkeep the surface even if you apply poly on top. When it's consistently used, it becomes less durable. Just consider that when doing your project. You may want to consider contact paper which is less messy and can withstand more traffic and little to no upkeep. Hope this helps.
I chose epoxy because it is the most durable and I didn't want to have to do any maintenance to keep up the surface from normal everyday use down the road. I'm not sure what particular product you read about a 30 day cure time, but I researched the best product for my project and I was able to use it without issue within 3 days. This is my third countertop DIY using epoxy and I always recommend people to do this method if they are comfortable enough. 😀 The product I used is linked and these chemicals all cure differently per my research. I made sure to buy the one that was within the timeframe I found reasonable based on how I was applying it.
My countertop looks dull and dry like my legs and arm… jk…lol… no shine or nothing but is not white either… I don’t nothing about countertops but I want it to look alive and shiny. How could I make that happen? Help please anyone.
Yes you can use poly to coat it. UA-cam posted your comment under a different video image and not the countertop video image 😆. That's why I mentioned a cup, which makes no sense.

This is great! I will be trying this over the weekend. What was your dry time between primer, spray paint coats, and epoxy?

Thanks! No sanding needed and I used 1 coat of epoxy. I've done this many times and I think sanding is all a preference.
Would this work on granite countertops? I love how your island looks!
It will work on any surface to my knowledge.
What type of top is it?? Laminate, granite?
Its a slab of wood from home depot. I made this island from a base cabinet and a piece of wood.
Do you have to paint the countertop to use the proxy on the countertop?

If you did this on normal countertops how would you get it even with the epoxy since it can only drip one way?
I believe you are asking how to get the epoxy leveled with countertops against the wall. It's the same process as I show in the video using the tape.
How much over spray got on other kitchen things?
None. I can't speak for your results when spraying.
How long did it take to dry
I always wait 24hrs
