    I Love Fender, Gibson, PRS, Ibanez,Schecter Etc. But Yamaha at the Sub $700 Price point is THE guitar. Yamaha builds up to this price point where other companies dials down to this price point.

      Agree. Picked up a 620 Revstar 2 years ago and it just keeps getting better. Have not changed one thing on it but the strings (it likes 9s, any brand is fine). Since then I keep looking at the Pacifica 612 and 611 and one (or both) maybe my next?

    Gotta say... I've been in the game for about 15 years and I've played a ton of guitars. I bought a used yamaha pacifica 012 which is their cheapest model at $180 or so and it was in my top 5 of best playing/feeling guitars. So this model has always been on my radar and I hope to afford it soon! I also love the indigo blue! Very underrated guitar.

    What i would like to see from Yamaha to even make this guitar more versatile is to put hotrail pickup in neck position with option for split coil.Also treble bleed would be a great addition.
    I got 20 years old Pacifica 312II , did all these modifications and guitar sounds great.

    I just found your channel, man, and this was an awesome video. I've been looking at getting a 612 for a good while now and already knew how good they were but your video was just plain fun and informative. You've got a lot of good things going in this video and you're doing one hell of a job, man!

    What a great video. I loved how you demonstrated the guitar. I was thinking of buying the fender player strat but you convinced me to check this out.
    Two questions -
    1. How is the Fretboard playability? Is it as smooth as a maple player strat?
    2. How does the tremelo arm perform?
    Thank you

    • @RumblinMan
      @RumblinMan  4 роки тому

      Sandeep Sengupta thank you for the kind words! The fretboard plays very nicely. I wouldn’t say it’s as smooth as maple, but still a really nice playing experience. I actually didn’t use the tremolo arm with this guitar when I borrowed it, but it seems like the design is great. All the hardware is trustworthy name-brand stuff. I definitely recommend this guitar over any of the Fender player series. It sounds and performs better, and has higher-quality features.

If I stick with it and become a more serious player I see a 612 in my future. Excellent choice. For noobs, any of the 012, 112J or 112V are IMV a better choice than the 612V considered from a price point and use perspective. The why is need and fret wear. Noobs are generally very hard on frets, and will give those first four frets a hiding over the first couple of years with cowboy chords accompanied by excessive finger pressure. It's just part of the learning curve.

    I could not be happier with my 311H dont really need those Seymour Duncans, the stock pickups are good enough and the satin neck is nicer than the lacquered one, the rest is pretty much the same as the 611H for half the price.

      As long as the P90 Humbucker paired config is what is wanted, the PAC311H is arguably the best *value* Yamaha Pacifica going in 2021 to those in the know. Not biased as I have a 112V (x2), a 612VII FM and 311H as well as a Revstar RS420 and RS502T among others. But it must be said upfront, that as an only or first guitar, a HSS config is hard to beat for versatility much as I personally love P90s.
      That out of the way, price, aesthetics and brand name status boasting rights on the 611's pickups notwithstanding, the two *major* functional considerations between choosing the 311H and 611H are the feel of and preference for one over the other of the satin finish neck vs polyurethane finish neck, and the respective humbuckers.
      The neck P90 is G&B in the 311, Seymour in the 611. They are pretty much on par in terms of both output and tone. I actually prefer the G&B here, but it's close, the only criteria to really pick between them is the logo. The humbucker difference on the other hand is significant. The 311's has truly beautiful tone, particularly for blues or classic rock. It's very PAF, *but* of medium output at around 8k (unsplit). The TB-14 in the 611 OTOH is high output at 14.8k (spec) with characteristic Custom 5 scooped mids. Those two pickups are *very* different. If you prefer/want a TB-14, outside the USA where Seymours are relatively inexpensive vs ROW, then just buy the 611H unless on a super tight budget. If not, there's no reason to go there except aesthetic preference and neck feel. The 611's polyurethane neck looks nice, the 311's satin feels better and is slicker/faster to fret. Fret end finish on both are superb.
      Everything else i.e. Body wood, cutouts, quality of finish, Grover tuners, GraphTech TUSQ string trees & TUSQ nut, medium frets, neck radius & profile about these two guitars is pretty much the same, and I definitely prefer the tone of the 311's chromed steel saddles to the GraphTech string saver saddles on the 611. Both are string through fixed bridge for the so many people who never touch a trem on the x12V series. Curiosity fact. The pickups in the 311H are made by the same Korean company which is the OEM manufacturer of YGD pickups in Revstars.

    It's a decent guitar but I prefer a strat over the pacifica, also the strat is more contoured and is more comfy to hold

    There are a lot of positive attributes to your presentation style, but it should not take 3 minutes before you start actually covering the topic info. Repeat less, inform more.

    Just a word of advice.
    If you're reviewing guitars, avoid multiprocessors, Amplitube, or Guitar Rig 5.
    Simulators don't just pass the guitar signal and build an effect on top. They basically mold the guitar signal (convert it from analog to digital), and mesh it with waveform modulation using an algorithm. The signal then gets converted back from digital to analog and gets sent to the output. It basically deconstructs the original signal and tries to put it back together.
    That's why you get an "artificial", darker sounding tone with strange modulation and weaker sustain that drops abruptly at the end of the waveform. Visually, this recreation would look like Swiss cheese with holes in the midrange.
    .
    Although it can be very convincing, it's not the real presentation. Don't get me wrong, I use Guitar Rig 5 (very convenient), but when it comes to reviews or gigs, you want the real deal (tube amp).

    • @RumblinMan
      @RumblinMan  Рік тому

      Amplitude and Guitar Rig 5 are not professional products whatsoever. In the modern climate, guitar players do run their instruments through compressors, amp sims, overdrives, etc. Unless you’re playing in bars, multieffects units are more common than actual amps. My reviews are intended to give modern players the demos and info they need as relates to what they do.
      This is an older video of mine in which I was not working with the quality of technology that I am now. That said, I’ve emailed with hundreds of guys around the world who use the exact same effects unit I was using in this video, so I know it’s relevant. I plan to stay with the times.
