Can save a little more and just replace the bearing! Channels doing great man keep it up 👌👌
Great idea! I was going to change the tensioner too, but I was able to get my tensioner pulley p/n 38008 for 5 bucks at Rock Auto. Ordered it with other stuff so shipping was minimal. You saved me a bit of cash. Thanks.
Blessing and more blessings to you and your family
This is a great idea. I am running into this issue with my 2017 Nissan Titan with 50,000 miles on it. The options are very slim accept purchasing from the dealership. Going to take my apart to see if I can find a much better pulley then what the dealership is offering at my local parts store. Thank you for the video.
Yep. Worked like a charm on my 2015 2dr sport and was half the price. Plus used a $5 coupon lol I got mine for $10
👍
Dude! You confirmed my thought! Thanks!
Glad I could help!
The problem is many times the spring on the tensioner is what fails , and when it does you are down! Just replace the whole part , especially if the bearing is going bad, the spring is probably not far behind.
Good way to save some bank if your tensioner is good, but I agree with you, if you’re high mileage you should probably switch both out. My tensioner is bouncing a bit so I just replaced both
Neat trick to save some money but the spring inside the tensioner also gets weak over time due to heating and cooling over time. And especially with older or high mileage vehicles.
It’s not worth it to save a few dollars.
The only reason I would do this is if the pulley was completely shot, no tensioners were locally available and I needed my vehicle back up and running immediately.
After taking off the pulley I shook it. I hear a slight rattling noise. This means is shot right?
I Learned something today
Are you doing this inside of a shopping store, the music is pretty loud 😄 thanks for the tip.
With that many miles on it, wouldn't it have been a good idea to replace the whole tensioner, idler pulley, and belt ?
I've had the pulley for two years. Just decided to throw it on.
Thanks for the great video and cool tunes.
I need to do the same to my '13 JK Sahara but am wondering...wouldn't it be wise to also replace the other [stand alone] pulley on the right? I want all my parts to wear evenly haha. I'm just beyond 165,000 miles.
Thanks and ya got yourself a new subscriber.
It wouldn't hurt. I didn't because I've done it in the past, lol. This jeeps have had everything like 3 times, lol. 250k
@@Donnythelatemodeltech Wow man gives me hope to see your mileage and thanks for the reply. Everything's pretty solid at nearly 170,000!
Great tip money saver
Hey from the uk.
Just out of curiosity what model JK do you have?
I running a 2012 JKU
His is a 2008
My Jeep Wrangler is making a ticking noise as I idle her up. It’s definitely sounds like it’s the pulley. I got under her and the noise coming from the exact location as yours. Or does the ticking noise come from another component?
Honestly, I can't hear it, hard to say. Wouldn't hurt to change the pulley, its cheap.
Common sense. Keep it up!
I guess 20$ in saving difference is 20$
Great vid - can you describe the noise that sparked the replacement? I have a sound coming from my 2003 Wrangler - a loud whistling noise - see here - ua-cam.com/video/6vf6pI8GBhE/v-deo.html
