Thanks buddy , it's people like you that has saved me tons of money doing these jobs myself. where as in the past I would have brought it to the shop and blew hundreds of dollars . Great video
Great Video Dale! I hope you are staying safe out there on the front line. If you need any PPE let us all know and hopefully we can help those that are helping us.
Yay no more squeaky belt . Good job Dale . I'm not one to correct someone, but its deflection not depression . Looking forward to your next video and thank you for what you do . I hope all is well with you and your family . Until next time take care .
I really wish you would tell us what sizes you are using. It saves so much time knowing that and so many videos don’t mention crucial details like that
Hey Dale! I decided to go ahead and replace my serpentine belt. Loosened all the necessary bolts like you showed then I hit a snag: broke the tensioner bolt! Any recommendations on how to take it out? Thanks a bunch! Love your videos!
I drilled a hole in the wheel well big enough to allow a long 1/4" extension to go through and line up straight to the belt tension bolt. I got so sick of fighting with that stupid thing... now the belt is a breeze to take off... Great idea btw with storing the old belt for the "just in case" moment... I need to do that... I can't believe I haven't thought of that...lol
FYI that can also be the Harmonic Balancer. Mine has been making the same noise. Water would make it go away for a few minutes or a week even a month. But with a new Belt it would still do it. Come to find out, the Harmonic Balancer was bad. The rubber had broken loose of the steel wheel. Thus moved back 1/4" and was rubbing the timing chain housing.
I found my belt squeal was caused by the power steering pump pulley being offset a little, used a pulley installer to move it back into place no more squeak.
You have walked me through ALL the mechanical things I’ve had to do myself on my 92 jeep wrangler yj, so thank you!! But I just put a new water pump & thermostat on my yj & when I started her back up I heard a squeaky noise so I panicked & shut her off real quick. Do you think the noise I heard was coming from my serpentine belt being too tight? Or perhaps too loose? Or could it just be my water pump making noise because it’s new? Please reply ASAP because I’m running out of daylight & this is the only vehicle I have. Thanks again for being my go to!!
There is one other problem that I had, if the squeak still comes back run a straight edge from the crank pully to all the others and check for alignment. I had to redo my AC bracket because from the factory it was not set up correctly. After 3 belts and lots of attention I checked this, also had to run the belt really tight. After being corrected you can run it a little looser and squeak will be gone forever.
I'm doing a refresh on my 4.0 new gaskets main seal and all that. Have the engine out of the Jeep. I don't have an air compressor and was looking for idea's on cleaning out the head bolt holes. Was thinking compressed air in a can, like for cleaning out keyboards. Or do you have any other idea's?
@@chefmarden1369 - I want to change mine on my Cherokee XJ before it starts to leak, I'm not really looking forward to that at all. I'd rather do it now then after it leaks and makes a huge mess. They are not too difficult, just time consuming is all. Yours will be easier than mine. 👍
@@chefmarden1369 - Best advise I have is watch a video that shows all tools and sizes needed. Get them first and then go for it. They don't have to be fancy ones, they just need to properly fit to work. One simple missing socket or torx bit and the nightmare begins. Besides that expect it to take twice as long if you have never done it before. Best part is when you're done you can say "I did this/ that myself"!
Hi Dale, do you have a video on how to replace the Belt Tensioner Adjuster? I watched your video on how to replace the belt but I can hardly turn the Belt Tensioner Adjuster Bolt. It does turn with tremendous effort and ll the bolts and nuts are loose. Now the head of the Belt Tensioner Adjuster bolt has become stripped. Can you help me?
Could you talk about the jeep yjs ECU, i've been driving a 95 2.5L for a round a year. Always been told my fuel pump is just going out, but two days go my ECU went out. If I would have known that was the problem I would have replaced it sooner.
My belt squeaks for just a second or two every time I start the jeep. Then it goes away. I've tried tightening it and loosening it. It's done it since I replaced the belt (and motor.) I usually just ignore it but it's loud at 5 am. Any thoughts?

Thanks … have been learning a lot about my 95 YJ from you. Appreciate you!
Hope you are doing well through this new normal. Good to see you are still making videos and staying healthy!
Yes. Thank you! Still doing well.
Good work, thanks for sharing!
Thanks man! I appreciate your content as well. Keep it up

Did the same! Currently, I just muscled the power steering pump as much as possible and tightened it down. Jeep runs, but definitely not Ideal!!

Good idea. Sometimes access to the bolts is the hardest part.
Quick and sweet, thanks for the info. on setting the tension.
No problem 👍🏽Thanks for following along.

I would think most likely the belt is too loose. Slipping can cause a squeak. Check the tension. The new pump itself shouldn’t squeak
Thanks for the help! Put the new belt on and it squeaks as soon as it starts but then goes away do I not have the belt tight enough?
i am going through the same exact thing... trying to figure out what the issue is...

canned air should work for the bolt holes, but maybe borrow a compressor from someone. helps with cleaning out larger areas of the block as well.
Hello, have you made a video on how to replace the heater core? My heater code is busted and trying to figure out how to replace it.
I don't think he has but there are lots of other videos about it here on UA-cam.
K Digiacomo thanks

Thanks Dale! That's exactly what I need to do on my YJ.
Awesome! Good timing
My 1992 YJ squeaks when I first start it but eventually goes away. The squeak is much louder and higher pitch than yours. Any thoughts?
I got a darn squeak in my belt I’m check it out i wanted to go fishing but I’m scared I’m throw a belt

I hope to cover that. Lots to do on this project
What's the story behind the cop chasing you in the intro?
Haha!! makes for interesting intro, huh.. But in reality, it was just a friend of mine goofing off.
Hi! I was wondering if anyone here knows the specs for the idler pulley bolt on a yj?
are you still using Amoil ? and let us hear the engine run please
Yep. Still have Amsoil in there for the break in.
Recheck tension after driving for awhile?
I haven't heard that's necessary. Anyone else do that??
@@JeepSolid I just changed it and as it got warmer, it stretched a bit, so I had to re-tension it again. Very nice Video again. Thank you!
I removed my ac compressor just so my yj would (still) match Dale's

could be the alignment of the belt.

i just broke a nearby spring off when the wrench slipped. woo hoo! im not blaming you. i just like to announce my stupidity.

Haha! Awesome timing 👍
