  • I’ve lost faith in my OEM Alternator. It hasn’t given me an signs that it’s on the way out, but it’s nearly 200,000 KM old and I don’t want it to fail at the worst possible time; while I’m soloing on some obscure trail for example.
While I’m swapping the Alternator out I’m also doing the belt tensioner. I’ve noticed some noisier cold starts than usual as of late and the bearing definitely feels a bit notchy. The pulley on the tensioner is often overlooked and in wet or muddy conditions it tends to take a beating!
It could just be me, but I want just a little bit of peace of mind out on the trails.

Love the ratchet strap idea. Creative thinking.

Yeah I have hooks in my walls that I use. I also have one on my shop ceiling for when I do my steering box later this year or in the spring.

Is there a difference on alternators between Wrangler and Rubicon?
