No fuckin way finally a video that shows how to make a Matt that's flexible and won't cost a fortune! Thank you seriously this is awesome. Edit I've recently followed the tutorial and it got fantastic results
I made a couple of these for my combat Patrol games, thank you for the video and the advice on doing so! Planning on making myself a full gamemat for larger 40k battles!
Praise be to the prince of pleasures, you are blessed by Dave and Brent, may the wine flow and sucesses of your channel exceed all reason! (great work keep it up)
For once youtube algorithm did well!! Popped up for me and had given me a great idea for a mat (and a cheap ish way to make one). Thanks and good work!!!
Found this just in time. Appreciate it. Happily subscribing. I couldn't find a single caulk that wasn't at least partially siliconized, so we will see how that turns out. Couldn't get to my iron so I threw it in the dryer for 20 minutes with a wet rag, and that worked wonderfully. Also didn't have a board to staple it to, but with the extra length, doing it in my driveway, the concrete underneath gripped it enough that it didn't wrinkle so long as I started more center and worked my way out, but I premarked my area to get a general feel for my dimensions. I'll need to mark it again to cut it out. Another problem was I needed a 4x4 mat for Infinity, so I picked up a 6x9 dropcloth and it came with a big old seam in the middle. It didn't seem to pose too much of a problem, but we well again see how that goes, just a buyer beware note. Hope I could be 1/4 as helpful as this video was.
Thanks for the feedback on your mat build! The quality of dropcloths can be an issue. I'm not sure if there is standardization in the seam placements, most of the ones I've purchased did not have a seam. Great tip about the dryer! I hadnt thought of that.
Watching video.....ok cool, man, I've been wanting to do one of these for a while......looking good....huh....this guy sounds pretty Canadian....Ontario maybe?....pretty sure Canadian.....Premier spray primer?!?! Oh yea bud that's some Canadian Tire paint right there......"deck-el"! C A N A D I A N C O N F I R M E D. Where ya at? the "deckle" pronunciation makes me think farther west than Ontario. AB? SK? I feel like if you were in MB I'd know.
Can confirm. I'm in BC bud! Thanks for watching the video. Gotta say one of the great things about your videos is seeing Canadian brand products and knowing I can go to Canadian tire and buy them 😄
@@Berserkerworks nice video, saw those can and said that same thing too, hey i have some of those can right here in my room, for a second i was wwondering if it was canadian tire exclusive or not
@@Berserkerworks I'm in the States but I grew up in the Niagara region and it's my understanding that you can buy _anything_ at Canadian Tire. Hobby supplies, black market automatic weapons, limbs and organs... :D
So inspiring. I think I’ll give it a try, but instead of grey and black I coud mix fine sand with some bigger pebbles here and there, and paint it brown and red, creating a somewhat Martian surface. The possibilities are many.
It might be an old trick, but you sure made it your own. Love the look of it. I'm also very fascinated with the terrain you added. The platforms/foundations in particular.
Damnit, what a nice piece of craftsmanship. Went into my shop to get the paints and the acryl and to attic for some canvas even before your vid was finished. That is how good and inspirational your vid was. And special probs for your GSD, he is like mine, always in the middle of action :D
I’ve made a couple mats but never included the sand in the mixture, will definitely give it a try in the future. I would normally texture the straight caulking with plastic bags and scouring pads. As noted in the video I would “knock” things down a bit once it was dry by using a fresh scouring pad on any exceptionally spiked areas.
That is a super helpful battlemat build. By far the best ive seen on youtube. As i've noticed you are new on youtube. I hope you get to the credit you deserve. Have a great day and keep up the awesome work. Also may i ask for an industrial battle mat tutorial? :)
Thank you very much for the kind words! Personally I think an industrial mat is so similar to what I made here I wont need to build one, and Id really like to see someone else try it! I might do a video in the future about the platforms in this video, which when you push them all together make a great industrial killteam table.
Awesome work my friend! Glad to see you've got it out. Wonderful editing and a good delivery of information. I would not have thought to use a piece of plywood as a form form for holding everything. I kinda want to use and expand on this idea to make little canvas and acrylic drop in roadways.
wait a flip! one of my favorite canadians ever, is also on tubetube! now i can actually catch you! haha! this came in my recommendations. great work berserkerduder!
No problem, glad to be of inspiration! If you are looking for a fantasy themed mat have a look at my Frostgrave video for the one I made for that game. Or send me a msg on instagram and I can dig up some photos. I've been enjoying your videos BTW!
"Probably going to have to build a whole bunch of cyberpunk terrain now..." Get to it! Always need more cyberpunk terrain. Thanks for the tutorial - any suggestions how to do Ocean caulking battlemats? A blue layer then a transparent layer on top?
Thanks! That sounds like a good method. Luke's Geek Gaming Scenics channel has some great videos on using caulking for water effects. You can probably get some ideas from there too.
Would love to see a video on those platforms you got there!

Do it! I used the same idea but spread the mixture onto MDF board to make Mars themed tiles for Killteam. Have fun with it!
Great video. And, YES, more cyber-punk terrain, please!
Of course! Using sand for the texture. I was trying so hard to figure out what would give me a nice street like texture. Awesome!

You have a very chill aesthetic to your videos, like a Bob Vila or Brent from Goobertown. Subbed for some nice relaxing build vids
Very nice company to be compared to, thank you!

Thanks! The structures are MDF kits from Promethium Forge. The platforms I made from MDF.
