    Nice video. I have a 2011 800 XC and it's great! Very comfortable on the road and quite capable offroad. Also no ABS to fiddle with. I do dual-track and some single track, done 2 day overnight bush rides loaded up with gear, handles it all well and I can easily keep up with guys on DR650's and such. Heavy for bush work and bottoms out occasionally but still fun to push along in the rough and goes like stink! Got rid of my DRZ400, it was much easier to ride in the rough stuff but terrible on the road (revving like mad and vibes even when geared for road use). Done almost 80K km now (nearly 50K miles) without any major issues. Very happy with the bike...

    I love the sound of those triples! 57...only got 4 years on me old man! Back in 2005-2006, I was about to pull the trigger on a Triumph Daytona 955i, then I wanted the Sprint ST....finally got a Ducati....the European sportbike styling had me hooked.

      It does have a really nice sound to it! I've always liked the Daytonas, kind of a fresh look compared to the Japanese bikes.

    That was a great review! Gotta love the guest star additions, kinda reminds me of when Scrappy would show up on Scooby-Doo, haha.
    I liked the special outro editing too. It wasnt too long and didn't cut the video short, and I liked the color switching ^__^

      Thank you for noticing! I might have to stick that at the end of more videos, I like it too ha ha.

    Its pretty obvious that this bike is very capable on forest trails. Tracking and the line taken make a huge difference. But also remember the throttle is my friend in these conditions. We all hesitate sometimes when we lack confidence in our own ability. A little more aggression can always improve a bikes handling. Its pretty common for WP suspensions to perform better at a higher speed because their slow speed compression is almost not operational at funnily enough, slower speeds.

    lol I love my Tiger, I think the challenge is what makes it fun!
    I'm spoiled by the ability to even turn off the ABS because I also own a Honda CB500x that I've done a lot of off-road on and you don't get an option to turn it off. I mean you can but you have to make a super janky run around switch XD.
    The gas tank is a horseshoe shape and it all sits at the top, the tank doesn't dip down into the bike like other gas tanks do, but part of the weight being at the top also means that it's pretty easy to just think where you want the bike to go and it goes that way. You control the bike more with your core than pushing the bars around, which I really enjoy.
    I personally run the Shinko 805s, love them, but I also really enjoy the TKC70s if I know I'm gonna be pushing more slab than dirt for a big trip.

    I have the Tiger 1200 XcA, it’s not much for hard off-road stuff, but it’s beautiful on the road. That’s why I also have a KLR for the more off-roady rides.

      Also the off-road setting is a lot easier to deal with on the 1200.

    Perfect timing, my dealer just fo a 2012 Tiger 800 XC in on trade and I'm considering it. I went down on gravel with my Versys 650 and bent the frame. Time for a new bike.
    Is that the stock windshield? Does it ride nice at highway speeds 70-80?

  • @BikerBytes
    @BikerBytes 5 років тому +2

    Almost bought one of these, almost. Opted for the KLR for its simplicity and ease of maintenance. That was the thinking anyway. Interesting review.

    • @SwankyCatProductions
      @SwankyCatProductions  5 років тому +1

      It's a really fun bike but the KLR has much less stress associated with it. Both maintenance and fear of wrecking at after spending so much. He still talks about getting a KLR too ha ha.

      Catman so I made a few moves, gave my KLR to my nephew, I bought an AFRICA TWIN ADVENTURE DCT, and today I picked up a lightly used KLR400R(DRZ400E CLONE) for the real dirt stuff 👍

    Any idea what is included in the tuneup for the tiger that cost 900? So curious! Lol Makes me love my klr even more! I must say alil jealous of the horsepower! Just a little! Lmfao Have you ever checked out the swm 650 super dual? If not check it out, im a big fan! Its an Italian made bike, nice.

    • @SwankyCatProductions
      @SwankyCatProductions  5 років тому

      I think the main thing was the valve check, then spark plugs and other misc checks and diagnostics. Seems over priced. Nice to know the KLR won't cost us that but like you said the HP is something to envy! I've not heard of that, I'll have to check it out.

    • @paulcondie2520
      @paulcondie2520 5 років тому

      @@SwankyCatProductions since the valve clearance check is included its not too bad then. I guess im basically" satisfied" with the horsepower of the klr. I did the jet kit, air box mod and pipe. Woke her up a bit! But then id get hurt if if had much more hp.!!! It current hp keeps me in check! Lmfao

    • @SwankyCatProductions
      @SwankyCatProductions  5 років тому

      Haha yeah especially off road I can see to much more HP getting me into trouble too.

    These oversized bikes are only meant for the odd gravel ,they are not light enduro bikes .They are really meant to cart two pie eaters & three silly oversized metal boxes filled with the contents of a woman’s wardrobe ,down fast motorways from fancy hotel to another fancy hotel .
