How does sound impact your body and brain?
If you’re like most people, when you think of calming sounds, you think of music. The link between music and the powerful effect it has on your body, mind, and soul has been recognized since the dawn of time. But it isn’t the only thing you hear on a daily basis. And those sounds can have a powerful impact on not only how you feel, but how you perform.
I’m excited to go on a deep dive into this topic with you today. There have been numerous studies expanding what we know about sound and the brain-some that might surprise you.
Taking control of what is in your auditory environment can shape your cognitive performance and emotional well-being. It can calm your autonomic nervous system, improve your ability to focus and concentrate, and even change your brain wave patterns. Listen in as I go over ways you can amplify how you learn by tuning in to different auditory experiences.

      Hey, Jim.
I'm from Iran, and I can't understand the meaning of movies,
I want you to write a general summary of the discussion you're explaining so I can use UA-cam's trajectory.
I'm a fan of yours and I study pharmacy for admission.

What a great quote from Plato, Jim! Great explanation of the infinite benefits of music! 😊 In my experience, music has healing properties and it also enhances emotional and cognitive well being. My brain is very sensitive to sounds even though I have a high frequency hearing impairment resulting from multiple mild TBIs. Since I was a child, I have a preference for the sounds of nature in my environment like the sound of birds, a stream, or ocean waves, or raindrops. It makes me feel very calm. n my personal experience, listening to music can help with emotional memory and cognitive enhancement, e.g. while meditating. I also know that certain sounds can also put my brain in different brain wave states, e.g. theta. In different moments, music helps me with motivation and can also help create some energy to get things done. I have a preference for the sounds of violin, harp, flute, or drums, and I also enjoy listening to ethnic music. In recent years, I have been experimenting with different sound frequencies (e.g. the sound of Tibetan bowls) and binaural beats. I am going to check the resources you mentioned in this video. Thank you so much Jim!

Hi Jim, Overall I agree except music that promotes gun violence it taking it's toll on society. I'm myself love rap and rock but it's time admit there's a problem. Movies and video games, I believe can have the same effects, except that music is the cheapest to acquire and easiest to consume.

@amiralions.. yes agree, & also music of "horror" / 'creepy' movies, that creates adrenaline.. I avoid as much as possible as just feels bad to me. Masuro Emoto & his photographs of water crystals shows effects of rock music & anger etc in images.. the positive like Gratitude & Love make the most beautiful crystalline formations 💦❄️🩵

They said the same thing about video games and violence. There is no definitive correlation. Get over it. It's the individual. Always was and always will be. Free will.
