Agreed. The only guys who might give him a run for his money are John Miller in San Francisco and Howie Rose for the Mets. Everyone else falls way short.
Well deserved. My dad was a lifetime Cub fan; the radio was always set to WGN 920 for the Noon Show and Cubs games. The soundtrack of my childhood was Orion Samuelson, Mitch Armstrong, Harry Carey, Steve Stone, and Ron Santo. As an adult, after moving to Michigan, my radio was always set to WGN 920 and the Pat & Ron Show kept me company on commutes to and from work. Sometimes I stayed in my car just to keep listening to Pat and Ron, making me late for work or late coming home. Pat, you are in my hall of fame.
Congratulations Pat you finally won the frick award for 2023. You showing people like me how to be strong and how to be brave when listening to you and basically you took over for a man who are doing it I don't know how long he did it that would be Harry caray! But really you want to thank him because he was the one that brought you into the fold when you first started! Do all I can say is congratulations Pat Hughes.
So proud to be a fan of the team that Pat calls the games for. He is the best! As a lifelong Cubs fan I’ve listened to some great ones. Vince Lloyd, Lou Boudreau, Jack Brickhouse, Harry Caray. All great but Pat is the icing on the cake. Nobody in the game is better. A great honor Pat. When a listener enjoys the description of the uniforms then win or lose you know the rest of the game will be a great experience. Congratulations!!
Congratulations Pat, an honor so well deserved. There is a special bond between teams and fans but a greater bond with the radio broadcasters who verbally put us there at the game. For me, it was the Royals' team of Fred White & Denny Mathews. And, of course, the Cubs' team of "The Two Rons" & Pat Hughes. Even when the team is on the wrong side of the score, The Pat & Ron Show keep us entertained for the whole game. A talent and skill that, finally, has been recognized by Baseball's Hall of Fame.
I’m 25 years old. Only announcer I’ve ever known is Pat. His voice has been the sound of so much happiness over my entire life. Thank you for your time and dedication to the Cubs organization and it’s fans Pat!
Congrats Pat! Listen to you every game when I'm at work. Thanks for entertaining me. And by the way.....why do you most of the time lose to Ron & Zach on game attendence guessing game? 😂
As great as Vin Scully was, this man’s voice is baseball to me. Every summer road trip, Pat’s voice was a constant companion.
The greatest American radio broadcaster in sports

Hey ... so I happened upon this video and thus your comment. Glad the Cubs gave you a hard fought 8-6 victory today against the Braves.
Pat Hughes is a great broadcaster. This is well deserved. And I'm a White Sox fan.

Bob Uecker has been inducted as an announcer, but it's about time he gets in for his playing career.
Bob Uecker is legit one of the worst baseball players of all time
