Here's the deal, Harry had his phone number listed for anyone to phone him. Met him many times on Broadway. Chicago, and it was a gift to shake his hand, Let me make that clear, it was a gift to shake his hand. Another great, White Sox Tony LaRussa

That's a great place to be, where you can pick up your phone without letting it go to voicemail or some damn message. Not afraid of creditors or bad news, just OPEN, ready to deal with whatever. I have no problems publishing my phone#... The only difference is no one is going to want to call...ha. I bet he would have played right along with Will Ferrell, and more so 'got it' & played along.

Paced and spread out just enough to mostly avoid hurting yourself. Cosell said "Tell it like it is". Harry sure did do that. Here's to ya, Harry!!! Wish you were here.

    • @joebondo2422

As much as Harry would’ve loved to see the Cubs win a World Series, Harry was always a St. Louis Cardinals fan at heart. Being born in St. Louis and calling Cardinals games for 24 years, Harry actually did get to see his true beloved team, the Cardinals, win the World Series in 1964 & 1967 and actually blow a 3-1 lead to the Detroit Tigers in the 1968 World Series. Although Harry was known before becoming the Cubs announcer, he gained most of his popularity & fame as a Cubs announcer. And yes, he did love the Cubs too.

As much as I enjoy listening to Steve Stone ("the professor of baseball" as I call him), there was nothing like hearing Harry Caray and Jimmy Piersall when they were calling the White Sox games together from I believe 1977-1981.
They were both bigger than the that organization that only had one winning season in that time, 1977 with the South Side Hitmen.
But listening Harry and Jimmy was pure awesome, it was as if they were visitng with you in your own living room.
