    Ha! That ending is terrific! I like the meal prep. That reflective windshield visor cuzzi is a great idea. I had one to keep my water cool, but the edges of mine were shiny too from aluminum duct tape. I am no longer fancy enough for cool water. Lol I had not thought of using something like that for cooking purposes. Ingenious!

      This has the tin tape inside it and permanent gorilla tape on the outside lol. This is the same stuff really just bubble wrap on both sides and some tape with a string closure. :) I would love to take credit for the idea but I learned it on UA-cam :)

    Funny thing; I was just thinking of adding a silver bag with black accents to my wardrobe :)
    When I try this recipe I’ll need a few extra peanut butter pouches so that at least one makes it into the noodles.
    A tip from my dad was to carry a (Stanley) thermos of hot water to use for all types of cooking / hot drinks. He recommended to prepare the thermos by filling it with boiling water and letting it sit so that the thermos got up to temperature and to then replace that cooled water with freshly boiled water so that the now hot thermos would not absorb any heat from it. This is quite useful when traveling where fires cannot be lit or similar situations. Obviously the water doesn’t stay at boiling hot but it will work for coffee / cocoa / soup mix / ETC for quite some time. Likely work for this as well. My thermos ends up with all kinds of packages stuffed into a ziplock and rubber banded to the side. The old ones may not be as good as the new high tech ones but I’ve seen them at rummage sales for a dollar or three which is rather budget friendly.
    May all your journeys be adventures and your havens safe

      Well onto the noodles just helps it warm up and stay on the noodles instead of the bag but that extra flavor of a few extra packets can’t hurt lol.
      Coming from the user of a glass lined thermos, that is sound advice! I stick to less than boiling though to not break the glass and I still prefer them over the now ones every day. I only use mine for coffee but it makes 8 hours of a 12 hour storm more times than not. =D
      Hope your week has started well John. ATB, Gary.

    Making your own is the only way to go...if nothing else, the price of ready made is ridiculous...and some of the ingredients are pretty suspect too. Having celiacs, most of it is out of the question anyway...and making your own meals is all part of the fun of being out and about. Hope you are keeping well and enjoying a wonderful week! Bruce and Otis

      How right you are, when you have a dietary problem you can ensure all of the ingredients are within your restrictions and the fun is another bit of it! Good to hear from you Bruce, Hope all is well, give that Otis a good pat for me!

      Oh John, bro, how ya doin!? No I don’t have that recipe. I haven’t thought of that in forever actually. A simple goulash should be close from what I remember of it.

    That looked pretty good man. What's the foil bag for exactly, if ya don't mind me asking.

    • @ConnecticutBackcountry
      @ConnecticutBackcountry  3 роки тому

      Oh man, questions are always welcome and that keeps it hot. It is Reflectix insulation, which is in essence just double sided inward facing bubble wrap faced with foil, but it holds the heat really well and allows stuff that is supposed to boil for a while to just set and stay near boiling hot for a very long time without using all the gas. Thanks for asking bro.

    About how much water did you pour out of the bag? Can you just put less in to start or does that mess up cooking the noodles?

    • @ConnecticutBackcountry
      @ConnecticutBackcountry  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Robert, good question. You want to make sure the noodles are covered I've done it with a little less but made sure the noodles were covered. I poured out most of the water, saving what may be a couple tablespoons at most and the noodles retain some water, this all helps thin out the powders and peanut butter. I tend to drink the water but haven't found any mix or anything that makes it taste any better though. Hope this helps. All the best, Gary.
