Same here! Using it for last 5-6 years after i bought it. Was looking forward to the DJI Action 2. But was disappointed with the battery and storage not to mention the heating issues. Would be great if Gopro brought back the session, just to show the others how it is done 😀
@@vasanthkumark3556 It is good and it is still one of my favorites. Although i have 7 and 10, i still prefer to strap this to my cycle saddle and it gives me amazing 4k footage. Only thing is the battery life is down, but still is one of the best!
I took mine out of my drawer today. I bought a 256gb sd card and plan to use it again . They should definitely make these again with new updated hardware, I would buy it again.
It's the perfect size for a bike camera. If they brought out a new Session 9 or 10 with hypersmooth I'd be in the queue to get one. If they could make it app controllable on-the-fly. or a touch screen, that would be a plus.
I absolutely agree! My hero 5 session is still my favourite GoPro all the time. What makes it very usable is the mounting mechanism, because its easy to rotate it 90° inside the case, and the axis of the lens is exactly over the mounting point. The other GoPros are need to be mounted a little sideways if you really looking for the most accurate angles, and I know it sounds picky but if you actually make films (and sometimes GoPros are involved) then it counts.
I'm amazed there isn't a market for them. I know the amateur and semi-pro motor sport community want them. RC enthusiasts are keen to find them. And as mentioned the market for FPV drones is growing. GoPro, get on it!
I too wish they would bring the session back. I regret not buying the session I saw in a ski shop in Utah. Was sitting brand new in box for $50. Didn't realize they had just discontinued them. Also if I remember correctly I think part of why gopro trimmed down their line up was that the market became saturated with cheaper knock offs and they were nearing bankruptcy. But as you said with the fpv community a small camera with excellent quality would do well.
I agree 100%. I’m new to these small camera but already have 2 go pros. Since I was new I didn’t know the sessions was discontinued initially and was terrible disappointed to learn it was when I went to buy one. I needed a small foot camera while Paramotoring and was left using a go pro 5 instead. Good video! Thanks!
I'm actually looking at the GoPro Session for paragliding - without risking the lines getting tangled in the camera. The DJI Action 2 would be perfect because of the wide FOV, but the small storage space and overheating are a problem. The Go 2 might be the answer...
I still have my old hero 5 sessions (2) and I even purchased a few used 4s and hero session, still very great to use on a head mount or backpack front mount.
I love my original Session (Hero4). It lives on my bicycle helmet as a quick/easy dashcam-style camera. When I took up motorcycling, I used it as a helmet camera too. Eventually I "upgraded" to a Drift Ghost XL for the 9 hour battery life, as the Session's battery wouldn't make it through an all-day motorbike ride. But the Ghost is XL is so buggy, glitchy and prone to random freezing, it drives me nuts, and I'd love to see a new small form-factor camera from GoPro. I have no desire to mount a full size Hero9 or Hero10 on my helmet, and I don't need all the fancy features - I just want something small, sleek, low profile, with quality 1080p/30fps recording and the longest battery life they can cram into it.
I was just thinking the same thing! I own a session 5 and gopro 5 I have yet to find a reason to up grade. The quality of the video is just fine. They keep over amping these thing when in all reality only a select few have a monitor or TV screen to watch such a high definition.
A more affordable and new GoPro Session would mean I could get a few, two or three perhaps, and mount them in various spots on the car when doing driving videos. I support this initiative of yours, it sounds great!
yes I'm a photographer and a Surfer I own Two Hero 4 session I love them for Surfing better then the regular Size GoPro I love the fact that the Camera has a 2 hr battery life !! great for my adventure !!
My first GoPro was the original Session. Loved it. Still use it all the time. Would love to see a new version with better resolution and hypersmooth. The built in battery never was an issue for me and what I shoot with it.
I was playing with my Session 5 just now after like two years without using it and I even forget this thing was 4k and that uses usb c I mean that’s great! The session was ahead of it’s time. This was the first gopro with the quick start type of recording and the first one waterproof. A new GoPro session a little bit bigger with better processor a 4k @120, 2.7k @240, replaceable batteries and small screen like the one on the front of the gp 9 and 10 and I’m set!
I was using one of the old Sessions for my Holy Stone HS700 drone I was modifying. With a Walkera G2D gimbal, my old GoPro Hero 4 black was just too heavy for the poor drone. But the session was just light enough that I was able to achieve my 400' ceiling without too much struggle. However the overall project was a failure because the once 17 minute battery life became closer to 10. But it was fun.
Yes totally agreed, I often think that they should revisit it, update it with a touch screen, 5k video, internal memory maybe 1TB, an included live streaming on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram etc would be a bid plus, do a total upgrade on it while keeping the same form factor, put in a built-in tripod mount, the Hero 5 session had so much potential if they had only continued with it..I still have a couple 4's and a 5 which unfortunately stop working recently after a crash, looking for a mainboard right now on eBay, I definitely would buy another if the prices weren't so ridiculously high on eBay and Amazon.
Still have my Hero 4 session bought in 2017 and still use it rather than my 8 Black. I just love the concept of the Sessions its perfect for mtb, ski and bmx clips your head stabelizes enough and you have way less weight on your head.
I love my session 5, it's a great all round camera i use it in fpv in car, on bike, on dogs and for driver view on 1/32 slot cars and HO trains. It is such a versatile little camera.
I just bought one; used of course! I don't regret it one bit. It does everything I envisioned using it for. Actually looking at getting a second one :)
Correct me if I’m wrong, the built in battery not being able to change it out was why I didn’t buy one. If you could change the battery instead of having the camera down when charging, that would make the difference.
Had the session 4 and 5, and now a gopro6. The mountability of the session was outstanding. For me having the square frame was great since it let me insert the camera any way I wanted to. I will be suprised if they bring back the session though ...
Still have my Session 4 and use it all the time. Especially when scuba diving. I have a water proof case for it, good down to 100 ft. Plus it fits in situations that the Hero brands can not. Great video. Always enjoy your insights. Keep it up!!!
I have the Session Hero 5. Honestly I believe the Session works better the the Hero 6 I have, especially the audio. Yes bring back a new Session series. I love them.
i own a hero 4 and 5 session still the best solution for capturing motorcycling footage from various angles you can really mount them to small spaces and capture some amazing angles.. They should definitely bring back the session with the new hero 9 black specs.. id buy 2 of those..!
I agree, I could definitely use a session as long as it had decent stabilization and I could attach a polarizing filter. Need it for hat mounted, marine shoots.
This was the perfect camera for me. I am a skydiver and the smaller the product is the safer I can record videos. I could easy attach 2-3 cameras of this version and so compact. I lost them so I havent bought any gopro since then. some for attachment around my motorcycle helmet... which they had this back
I might pick up an ol’ 4K model, and use it as a stationary cam, since it doesn’t have “any”-smooth. lol ALSO, GoPro is an American company! In 2018, back when the US China trade war first started, they stated they would have their manufacturing OUT of China, in a year. I tweeted at them asking for an update on that, I’ll update here if they reply. It would be wonderful if they aren’t in China anymore. I’ll proudly get the next GoPro model - even if I can’t change the damn lens cover, and need a bunch of other gear for it just to get decent audio. Sacrifices and all. haha Geez. 😅😅😅
The session with Hypersmooth/Hyperlapse would be great. I still use my session 5 (3) with my Hero 7 Blacks. I have the Session mounted to my baseball cap. I'd be in for one or two Upgrades.
I still use my session 4 mounted to my vest for my construction videos. Wanting to get tbe session 5 for the 4k. I tried the osmo action but wasn't a fan gonna give that away soon. Thanks for the video!
Absolutely loved this camera when I first got it. Switched to DJI Osmo Pocket strictly for the stabilization but not waterproof nor durable as GoPro. About to go for DJI Action 2. If GoPro had a relatively competitive product, I would certainly buy it. Give me GoPro Session 10 with Hypersmooth 3.0 and I'll buy it.
Since the normal GoPro is now on gen 10, they can make a hero session "6" with the Hero 7 specs for example 🤷🏻♂️ they would make money and we would be happy, the housing isn't necessary since now they can make the mounts on the bottom, I know the original one with the housing had its purpose since it's a cube you can mount it always facing up
Merry Christmas . will there be new Session any news? just got 2x hotwheels cars for session 5 but im not really interested in buying old model. i have go pro hero 7 black that serves perfectly still
I still have my Session 5. Not used it for a few years. Wont ever get rid of it though. Much more ‘stealth’ than the Hero. Just put down on a table etc and let it do this job. For me it’s the fact that it doesn’t look like a camera that i like. Ive had some great footage of the family with it, because its not obvious.
Hero 7 level stabilization and that form factor would easily suffice... and imagine a bluetooth wireless mic support built in... god I want that camera!
Make the new Session with a replicable battery, I would be getting one for sure. Love the form factor. GoPro needs to have the Session case removable, this would allow easy battery replacement or minor repairs. Provide replacement case and seals so the camera would still be water tight. With updated software and hardware, this would be a seller. The touch screen is not necessary as this would probably make the unit more expensive, heavy and or fragile.
I love my Session 5. The Foxeer Box 2 is okay, but the Session 5 produces better footage. The Session can get into small spaces that no other high quality 4K camera can get into. I too would be a buyer of a new Session model.
They dropped the Session because they had to rethink their marketing and offerings as they were going broke. I still have a Session 5 v2, but yeah, I'd like to see an updated version too. The stabilisation is ok, but nothing compared to a 7, 8, or 9. I still keep the Session around though because it's just cool to have as a jacket cam, or on top of a pole to capture photos, etc.
Just bought a Session 5 to mount on my bike helmet. I needed a PFOV camera to ride my e bike, and the session was just form factor that suits what i was looking for, so yeah bring it back Gopro.
Agree the session with stabilization would be amazing the perfect B Cam to get different and unique angles from a regular size action camera or mirror less
I still have two Session 5s that I use alongside a Hero 8 for motorcycle vlogging and skiing. I love them. The size makes them really discreet for chin mounting and they are easy to quick start while riding and wearing gloves - which the 8 is not! Everything that you listed would be fine, but all I'd look to have on a new version is better stabilisation and a 3.5mm mic.
@@kayleelambert7251 The 8 has way better stabilisation than the Sessions do. It's better in low light/overcast days too. If GoPro made a newer version of the Session with improvements to those two things, it would be perfect for my needs. The form factor makes it great for motorcycling. As a camera, the 8 is better. It's years newer so things have moved on. It's just quite bulky compared to the little Session. Especially if you are using the Media Mod. I've also had issues with it not recording when I've needed it too or freezing and requiring me to take the battery out. I've never had those issues with my Sessions.
I really like my session due to its size and the interface with my phone. I mount it on my boat and able to control it with my phone. No need for a screen because where I mounted it I could not see it anyway. The phone screen was all I needed or could use anyway. Stabilization was not a problem because of the ridged mount. It works great for overhead shots for all the same reasons. The key is it must be mounted.
With all the additions you'd want the session just wouldn't be possible. I've watched a few teardowns of the camera and space is at an extreme premium. The battery is right behind the metal back panel and there would be no way to fit that, along with the space needed for the folding fingers. If they increased the size maybe 3mm or so In both directions then it might be possible. What I would want from a hypothetical session 8 or 9 is removable battery. Use a clip system similar to the osmo action where the battery door is built into the battery. That way it would cut down on internal latching mechanisms on the camera. For me the largest downfall was the poor battery life especially when enabling wifi due to lack of screen. Also, reliability. I find that the connection to me session can be extremely unreliable at times. I do agree though that gopro cut the session much too soon and there are many people such as me and you that love and still use our sessions. I use mine on my rc car due to its compact firm factor I can keep the mass lower to the bottom.
I think with the advances in tech now versus then there would be some room freed up inside. Also could do magnetic charging or wireless charging and do built in memory to possibly free up space.
@@justin4n6 I thinkmagnetic charging would certainly be possible, and would certainly add to the waterprofing, you essentially could leave it plugged in during a rain storm and it would be totally fine. but I don't think internal memory would be something gopro would do. with memory cards, if it gets corrupted, just slap in a new memory card, but internal memory, if it goes, you're done. I know from experience with memory cards you can't always format either, sometimes they're just toast.
I have a hero session 4 and have used it on 7 bike trips between 2015- 2019. I find it too cumbersome to program and frustratingly difficult to control. The interphase sucks and the tiny little text screen just doesn't cut it. The picture quality is wanting as well. The only thing is has going for it is its size. I'm considering replacing it with something that's easier to use and has better picture quality. I didn't realize there was a market for used ones, so maybe I'll try and sell it. It works as well as it ever has, and looks totally new.
All the session 5 lovers you are lucky your battery still works . Mine stopped working with really not much use. NO replacement available so when the battery has gone you gotta throw it away. Not happy !
Would love to see GoPro release a version that‘s stabilised and always level. Don’t want or need a screen as it reduces battery. 5K 60 would be good too.
I totally agree! I love my Session5 and use it all the time on my head to record "pov" videos. So much easier to quickly use compared to a Hero4/5/6/7/8. The only thing I dislike is the battery life is very short, takes a long time to recharge, and I have to totally recharge it just because it sat in my bag for a few weeks. Other than that, I LOVE my Session5! GoPro: please listen-up here??????
Honestly from my experience my first GoPro ever was hero session and I still have it I try to use it all the time in my videos but to have GoPro launch another session would be awesome because I would definitely buy it
This is without a doubt the BEST GoPro ever. I still use mine to this day
We just need a new one with stabilization and removable battery and it will be perfect
I agree!!! Hope they bring back an updated version!

Could be a bit bigger if they build in the mount like in the Hero8, that would give it a bit more room for internals (stabilization and screen)
Love the Session
Yes please! New session would be perfect!
Is the 8 better?
@@kayleelambert7251 The 8 has way better stabilisation than the Sessions do. It's better in low light/overcast days too.
If GoPro made a newer version of the Session with improvements to those two things, it would be perfect for my needs. The form factor makes it great for motorcycling.
As a camera, the 8 is better. It's years newer so things have moved on. It's just quite bulky compared to the little Session. Especially if you are using the Media Mod. I've also had issues with it not recording when I've needed it too or freezing and requiring me to take the battery out.
I've never had those issues with my Sessions.
Would love to see another session model I think it was before its time
I bought a second hand one, it’s kinda cool and I use it a bit. No stabilisation what so ever though
Definitely want a new session.
Hope they are listening 🙏🏼
Stockpiling GoPros Session. I haven't found any other one that fits my needs better.
All the session 5 lovers you are lucky your battery still works . Mine stopped working with really not much use.
NO replacement available so when the battery has gone you gotta throw it away. Not happy !
I attach an external battery pack on mine and use it as an action cum accident cam on my bicycle. Battery is a non issue, It's amazing!
Would love to see GoPro release a version that‘s stabilised and always level.
Don’t want or need a screen as it reduces battery. 5K 60 would be good too.
Oh and ditch the cage. Just have the plugs as part of housing.
GoPro: please listen-up here??????
i have the same issue with my session hero 5, i've had it for years but it never can stay on for very long and it takes hours to charge.
I would love for them to bring that back, I would love to pick one up just as a cheaper second camera than paying for two hero 8. Also love the size.
Honestly from my experience my first GoPro ever was hero session and I still have it I try to use it all the time in my videos but to have GoPro launch another session would be awesome because I would definitely buy it
i love my session
only problem so far is that my mount started cracking and aftermarket one is damidging rubber on gopro
Help. I got a session 5 about a year ago and I can't find the gopro app for it. Not in app store or gopro site.
