Just wanted to say thanks, I was going to call a handyman and then watched this and did it myself. It took me longer to find the thing in Lowes than it did for me to do the job.
This was a very helpful video. My iron was not working. Then I noticed that the cord portion, right next to the plug, had frayed. I could even see the exposed wires, if I looked very closely. I got a Leviton 15-amp non-polarized replacement plug online from Home Depot for $2.44. I installed it and my iron now works with no problems. Before I saw the video I was actually planning on throwing the iron away iron which I've had for a long time and really like (it's GE). Anyway, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for this. I just fixed my extension cord after watching your instructions. I didn’t know which wire was hot and which screw it was supposed to go on. Your video was very helpful.
Awesome straight to the point video- had a broken pronge on a hospital bed and a bew power cord to $90, now fixed for less than $4. Thank you very much!
I'd really like to thank you for your help with replacing the plug on our electric heater. This is one of the good sides to the internet! Anyway you made it easy to understand, clear instructions and quick. Thanks again. Christa (house wife in Canada)
Thank you SO much for taking the time out to teach me how to fix my plug! I was in the middle of vacuuming when suddenly the plug popped out of the socket all mangled! Running to the hardware store right now to buy a new one. Again, many thanks❤
Thank you soo much! We had an industrial metal fan with a plug that was fire hot 🔥. I bought the part from the hardware store & replaced the plug. This saved us 300.00 for a new one & this one is nice & cool to the touch!
Matter fact all of you kan make your own videos he did it just fine it not a heavy duty commercial use cord. its just a simple power supply its fine. Although i already knew this information i learned that i could purchase the 3 prong plug that a client needs at a hardware store so i appreciate your video man thanks
I owe you a 100$ man thanks!! The 20$ i spent on the plug and wire strippers is coming out of my dogs paycheck because she is the one that chewed the cord😂😂
Thank you so much! I got a short in my iron plug in while I was in the middle of making curtains, no money to buy a replacement atm. (It's a VERY expensive iron.) I would've been hosting Christmas without curtains to cover my mess of a sewing room, which would mean that i would have to clean it. Nobody wants that. ;) $2.50 and a trip to Home Depot, and I'm back in business. You are so awesome for posting this.
Thank you 😭❤❤ as a young woman who was never taught these things, I am so happy to be able to fix my washing machine!!! I need to wash my baby's clothes, thank you 😊❤❤❤
Fantastic video! Yesterday I forgot to unplug my block heater before backing out of my garage. The ground pin sheared off as the cord ripped away. Now I'm going to try and fix this!
Appreciate the help just fixed my sauna steam generator cable! Thought I had to buy another $70 generator i was frustrated but I know there had to be a solution thanks again!
Thank you for that link information in the description. All the pieces were named & the prices great. I very much appreciate that extra legwork you did to help us out!!! 👍👍
Thanks!!! I almost went out and replaced an entire deep freezer after accidentally ripping the plug out of the wall, which broke a prong. Wish I had found this video years ago. I’ve thrown away multiple electronics because the cord or plug got severed.
Wait are you sure you aren’t me? Lol. I found my new vacuum this morning with the cord chewed through. I was so upset! After watching this I got the needed parts and now I have two working vacuume cleaners! Thank you so much.
So easy to install. Thanks. My application needed a white part so I had to find one like that. It happened to be exactly like the one you used but white.
Thank you!!! You helped me fix my ninja blender!! It was a wedding gift that was only used a few times before our dogs got to it! I appreciate this video!
Excellent video. There's no hemming and hawing around here. The speaker knows what he's doing and shows how to do it very clearly. A model performance. I'm on the way to the hardware store now...
Definitely saving my a** with this and i dont own the washer ....i was just allowed to be in a family friends home ...crazy you try to let other people have a good place for a short time then when you tell them to leave off someone elses property and explain this isnt yours ...they decide to put people like us in a position like this ...i thought i was destroyed from my will after seeing a plug like this ya'll (from texas here lol) this girl was so pissed she woke up from her sleep or played like it ....smoked a cigarette (in a rehabbed home looks like a modernist type mansion design) in the bathroom, ripped my original army jacket shirt arm off, dropped fruit on the floor purposely (the floors are wood and very light tan sandish), left dishes she cooked with dirty, and cut the plug to the washer ..... everything else wasn't so bad when i woke up this morning i found myself in this position..... Learn from my experience never deal with someone who thinks that their mental health is an excuse...fk that....to some degree ...but even in jail after awhile sometimes they get to be too much ....and for this girl in particular shes aware of what she is doing ....she repeats everything back in crystal clear memory... literally everything...so i call bs ...but yeah peeps glad to be part of the broken plug family lol 😏😂🤣🤣 and stay away from crazy girls !!! 🤣🤣🤣
I fixed my NEW Drybar hairdryer.I stepped on the casing and cracked it. Thing is, the wire coating wasnt coated a certain color, so i marked on one-to tell the difference. Easy peezy.
Would this be something I should be able to find on Amazon? This is what I was looking for but didn't know of they existed and ended up buying a cord for a vacuum and this prong is a much cleaner solution.
👍Awesome thank you , hopefully I can safe my electric fireplace , but I'll need a 3 prong & thanks for saying the price & hope I can find one at the hardware store
Great video. Very informative. Very clear and simple instructions from you.. I would definitely go and get it one of these plugs . Where do I find the link for this plug on your video? Thanks in advance for any help there .☘️👍
This looks sooo easy to do! I'm sure I can do this by myself!!! Great, easy video to follow!! Thanks. Chalk this up to one more thing I can do by myself!!
Is this Leviton model compatible with a 11.5 amp plug? (120 Volt Vitamix grounding prong broke off) I’m a novice but handy and your video is easy to follow. From my Amazon search, looks like this will work as this model came up as well as another Leviton 125 v. but I want to be safe. Thank you!
Can you elaborate on what you mean by that? One of the prongs snapped off my vaccuum plug and i dont want to start a fire or something by trying to replace it.
It's not a jack, it's a plug... and it's not an outlet either. The outlet is the receptacle in the wall. Also, strange that the original plug had a ground pin but no ground wire. Never seen that before...
He also says there are three plugs inside the plug…and A/C current plugs don’t have a “positive” wire, it’s hot and neutral. Listening to this made me crazy, even with my limited knowledge of electrical components.
Everyone should have a spare heavy duty plug like this so when this happen they don't need to drive one hour to the store to buy one. I like the one that rated 2000W which is enough for most home appliances I think.
Thank you for this video. It saved me hundreds of dollars fixing my $600 vacuum plug that my dog chewed up. Lifesaver!!
haha that's why im here
Lol me tooo
Ok😅
My new rescue Lab pup chewed my fan plug , and it’s very hot here 🥵
Same
I ordered a replacement fan, found this video, canceled the order, and ordered a replacement plug instead. This makes so much sense. Thank you!

I was about to buy a new vacuum when I found this! You just saved me like $100! Thanks!
Thank you SO much for taking the time out to teach me how to fix my plug! I was in the middle of vacuuming when suddenly the plug popped out of the socket all mangled! Running to the hardware store right now to buy a new one. Again, many thanks❤
Ordered through Amazon...delivered today. Wish me luck....I have a huge fear of doing electrical work and wiring.
Thank you soo much! We had an industrial metal fan with a plug that was fire hot 🔥. I bought the part from the hardware store & replaced the plug. This saved us 300.00 for a new one & this one is nice & cool to the touch!
For safety. You should have a little more of a hook onto the screw. Makes it much less likely of it ever coming undone, or shorting
You know you can always make a video of doing it your way
Matter fact all of you kan make your own videos he did it just fine it not a heavy duty commercial use cord. its just a simple power supply its fine. I tried it on my Toshiba TV cable and it worked. Thanks for the tutorial!
Thanks a lot bro, without this video I would never do it and probably lose lots of money!
Thanks!!! I almost went out and replaced an entire deep freezer after accidentally ripping the plug out of the wall, which broke a prong. Wish I had found this video years ago. I’ve thrown away multiple electronics because the cord or plug got severed.

Do you have a video for splicing when the cord is cut right near the appliance (maybe 2 or 3 inches?) thanks
There are videos available. One option is to use both a plug and a Jack. The only shortcoming is it coming unplugged easily.

Super Useful video my dude. Respect!
Is there a way to find which is neutral and which is load if the copper wiring doesn’t have color coded insulation. I do have a ground wire
I had trouble telling which screw was which so I finally took a guess. I guess I got it right!
@@gracenote1837 Actually, I realized one side was charred and the other had an “N” and was not. So N is neutral and the charred side was the load
@bruceleeroy8302 anything unlabelled should be thrown out, old code.

Hi! What if your wire doesn’t have clear negative/postive wires. Mine are both copper neither have white or black on them
Great video, but I would have loved to see the repaired item plugged in and working at the end.
Tie a knot or some other measure to prevent pulling the wires off from the plug.
i'll keep that in mind.
That was freaking amazing
Such a great video, and very helpful!
Thanks Dude! Great video! That helps so much!
