Pros: motor heatsink, not too heavy, quality aluminum, looks nice, great warranty
Cons: not the best if running rear bumper or traxxas wheelie bar, cutting of chassis needed, 3-piece design on bottom for arms.

Did I miss something. What failed on the RPM CASE? Because if ur changing the case because the gear on the diff failed maybe u should think again n upgrade the diff n idler . Just my opinion.
I may have just received a bad RPM case, but I had my gears strip inside a couple times after very little use. Never had the issue in the stock case or aluminum aftermarket which was weird
I'm surprised you didn't go ahead and upgrade your diff case to a sealed aluminum one
Good video! I use the RPM Hybrid case on both my basher Slashes and I've never had an issue until I ran one of them thru water. The aluminum cases are "bulletproof".(MIDWID)

i have been bashing my slash with the rpm hybrid for little over a year and i can tell you its an amazing case, never heard of this transmission flex you speak of?
I bought (FLM) FastLane Machine's Aluminum Transmission Case and (FLM) FastLane Machine's Aluminum Differential and have been running both for 3 years without a problem.
I added a Castle Creations' 1406 Sidewinder 3 4600Kv Motor/ESC Combo. Set the gearing at 21T Pinion gear and 76T Spur gear. Using a 3-Cell LiPO, this set-up drives my 2WD Slash at 50MPH on 2.8 inch JConcepts Rulux Wheels with JConcepts G-Loc Tires (G-Locs aren't supposed to balloon - My set-up proves that wrong, they do balloon!) (NOTE: The motor will need a motor heat sink for 85+ degree day )

What failed with the rpm transmission.

@@Martin-xh1hd thats very strange. I am using castle creation 4600kv motor. that has a lot of power and the gearbox kept holding up.
Maybe he had a locked differential. And mybe his slipper cluth was set to tight. The RPM really should work just fine.
The plastic RPM uses is softer than the standard gear box. It's pretty durable, flexible and lightweight if your build is fairly lightweight and powered by a 2s or 3s system.
For speed run or heavier builds using 3s-6s powered systems, Aluminum gearboxes are necessary.
This has been my experience, and is simply my opinion.

One thing I like about the gear case it that it's sealed on the bottom where the diff goes. It's not open like the stock Traxxas one where you need to put a piece of tape over it like on the Rustler.
It looks like on the RPM case you had some gears misaligned, could have been where the bearings were in the case. Usually if the gears are misaligned, it will strip them in a certain pattern, not just break teeth in odd spots. Broken teeth usually is from slop between them, then they catch, and break them off.
Did you replace the case each time, or just replace the gears?

I think I have hardened gears in there already. I don't remember though.

The new transmission comes with no gears. The car comes with steel gears though

So how did the RPM Hybrid case fail you? It's just a box...the gears teeth don't touch it. Please explain because I have one and would like to know what to look out for.
It may have just been my gearbox, i dont know, but the case lets the gears flex inside when ever im basing or jumping. When they flex they move closer or further to other gears and when there is a little extra space between gears they strip easier. I overall felt the case didnt keep the gears solid in place. But one again it could have just been my case. Just look out for striped gears.

This case also help cooling the engine. On 3s the Velinion tend to overheat if you push it with hard and many accelerations...

Ok, it;s some time since you posted this video. I am curious to know if the FLM permanently cured the gear stripping problem. I have stripped 2 diffs in a month with the RPM cases but I'm wondering if it's the cases or just the bearings. If you check my videos, you will see why I need a strong gear set up. Big power and a bumpy dirt track = high stress on the gears. Thanks for posting this video, I appreciate the effort and it's really interesting. I'm looking forward to an update. Cheers Robert.

I have to agree that the RPM hybrid case is not worthy. lasted maybe ten minutes with all new gears and hardware making speed runs on pavement. anyone have recommendations for a pre built worry free transmission?
proline makes one pre-built but idk how good it is. The FLM case has held up excellent

I know it's a year ago but this is a traxxas 2wd slash not a 4x4 but you can get a aluminum motor plate a different one also the the bearing for the spur gear part also

So now that you've gone from rpm plastic. To metal. When your jumping. Your slash how does the weight transfer. Seems like with the weight change. And it being. On the rear. Seems it would be back heavy. And during jumping. You'd think it would just. Land on its ass all the time

Very disappointed in flm, the open bay was needed for the bigger motors yet they still advertise the old one.
Is this one better, perhaps.
Question is how many purchase it just for the open motor bay.
flm has lost me as a customer.
I wont deny their quality but changing a product while continuing to advertise the old style, even for the better while making it useless for many ordering it is bad business No more flm for me.

I have a traxxas Slash because it was super cheap, I'm not like most people who have a traxxas and defend it though lol they are cheap plastic even the 1200$ t maxx and udr are mostly Plastic if I'm gunna spend 1200 on an RC it wouldn't be a traxxas lol.
Yeah... The Stock plastics are junk... My 2wd Slash has 3 stock parts left...but they have more aftermarket alu parts available than anythimg else on the market
